Issue accessing Setup WRT54GS

I have 3 WRTGS routers,   1 connected to ADSL,,and the other two fanning out internet access ,via CAT/ and WLAN, in other offices in my house.
Other than basic stumbling getting the right configurations all has gone well.
When I only had 1 WRT54GS, no fanning out, I could easily get to the setup page on my laptop, any of my laptops as I have 5, and one desktop.
ISSUE: From my Desktop DELL Dimension 2400 (Broadcom 10/100 440x), the page loads SOOOOOO slowly if at all.
when I added the additional two WRT54GSs, the problem is even worse with them. I can get to the setup page, but when I click on other TABs in the setup.. IE gives up and can't connect to them.
I upgraded my DELL Lan drivers.. and no improvement,
Then I went to broadcom and got the latest driver from Broadcom since DELL's version was older.
No help.. no change.. behaves the same.
All 3 Linksys are differing model numbers all updated to their latest BIOS firmware.
any ideas.. MTU turned to manual at 1500.
I am going to give an external LAN controller a try next..
network performance seems ok.. from the DELL through the hub at 40mb/s..

1)  Do you want to share printers, and also possibly files, with all computers on your network?  Or do you want 3 separate networks, with some routers setup for higher security?
2)  Tell us more about how you have your routers setup and connected.  What Local IP addresses are you using?  Are DHCP servers on or off in each router?  How are routers wired - LAN port to Internet port, or LAN port to LAN port?
3) What is the make and exact model number of your modem (not the router) ?

  • WRT54G Failure to access setup menu

Having an issue accessing my setup menu for my WRT54G wireless router. IP 192.168.1.1 times out and ipconfig/all from the command prompt reveals a different IP. I've tried logging in through the listed default gateway but that times out as well. I reset my WRT54G but I continue to time out. I have had this router connected to my DSL modem for some time with no trouble.
I wanted to check my setup menu because one of my laptops stopped connecting. I never got to troubleshoot that problem due to setup access problem. Only change to system is that the PC was moved today so power was disconnected to all devices. I'm still able to connect to internet via PC. I've power cycled all the devices multiple times with no fix.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Can't Access Setup Menu For WRT54G

I am having problems accessing my wrt54g's setup menu. I went to the cammand prompt and it said the ip address was 192.168.1.1, but when I go into IE and type that in, it doesn't connect. I have accessed it before but it's not working now. Any suggestions?

    try this:
click on <tools>, go to <internet options>, go to <security tab> click on <curtom level button>, scroll down and at the very bottom make sure that "automatic log-on with curent username and password" is selected... click ok and try opening http://192.168.1.1 again in the browser's adress bar.. if not, go to RUN, type in the open field http://192.168.1.1 ,click ok and that should do it...

  • Port forwarding / PPPoE setup / WRT54GS as access point

    Hi,
i have 3 questions as u can understand from the subject
First's lets make a rough sketch of the net topology
    Internet --------  DSL Modem ------- WRT54GS  >>>> 2 wireless laptops
                                                                   |
                                                                   |
                                                                   |
                                                        Wired Desktop PC
My DLS Modem is a Siemens Speedstream4200 connected to WRT54GS using an Ethernet cable. WRT54GS is v7.0 using firmaware v7.50.0. The 2 laptops run Vista Home Premium and my Wired Desktop Windows XP Pro.
    So, now to the questions:
    A. I tried using PPPoE in the Internet connection box of the WRT54GS, i supplied the username and pasword of my ISP but i couldn't establish an internet conection. Of course i didn't turn off the modem, router and pc as pointed out in topic with AnwerId = 2210 which i found today, will do that tonight, so hopefully there will not be a problem. I just switched from DHCP to PPPoE.... so, there might not be a prob after all... (is turning on and off the hardware that substancial ? )
    B. I am currently using DHCP as the preferred Internet connetion type. I tried to forward a port to use with uTorrent. I gave my desktop pc a static IP (192.168.1.199), forwarded the port to the corresponding area of the router's page (port 59876, both protocols, enable) and unchecked the Block anonymous requests. Had no luck . Thing is that i am not sure about the TCP/IP settings i have used...
    Static IP :               192.168.1.199
    Subnet   :               255.255.255.255 (default value)
    Default Gateway :  192.168.1.1  (the router's IP)
    Preffered DNS    :  62.178.90.17
    Secondary DNS :   62.178.90.18
The DNS's are the ones that my ISP gave me. Are these the ones that i am supposed to use here or should i use my routers IP as a DSN? (my DSL modem is accessed in the network at http://192.168.254.254)
    C. I have also a second WRT (currently not connected) and i want to use it as an access point (extending the range of my network in a building)
I am thinking of something like the following
    Internet --------  DSL Modem ------- WRT54GS  >>>> 1 wireless laptops (floor 2)
                                                                   |
                                                                   |   (this is an ethernet cable)
                                                                   |
(this is an access point)   WRT54GS >>>> 1 wireless laptop (floor 0)
                                                                   |
                                                                   |
                                                        Wired Desktop PC
What do i have to do ? connect the 2 WRT54GS, make sure that both WRT54GS have the same SSID and use different channels? What about port forwarding ? i guess i will have to forward the IP of the access point to the router and the IP of my PC to the access point ? ? ?
Well, thx at least for your time to read my email
    theodore

    A. If you cannot set PPPoE on the WRT although it is supposed to be required for your DSL connection then probably the SpeedStream is operating as router as well. That's why you can use internet connection type DHCP. You should post the full information on the Status tab of the router. It will show how you are connected to the SpeedStream and whether it is a router or not. Otherwise you could also do this test. If both IP addresses are not identical then you have a router/modem. You should consider putting the SpeedStream into "bridge" mode. In bridge mode it operates like any normal modem. Then you should be able to configure the PPPoE connection on the WRT.
    B. Obviously, if your modem is also operating as gateway router port forwardings won't work unless you configure port forwardings on the modem/router as well. The modem/router is the device with the public IP address. You have to forward ports from the Speedstream to the WRT WAN IP and on the WRT to the computer in question. You should assign a static IP address in the internet connection settings of the WRT (for similar reasons like for the computer). As this is complicated this would be another good reason to put the modem into bridge mode. Then the WRT is connected to the internet and you only have to configured port forwardings on the WRT.
    C. See here. For a roaming network wireless settings on both WRTs must be identical except for the channel numbers. If you set up the second router like suggested there is no port forwarding on the second WRT.

  • Accessibility Setup Assistant ruined the displayed text ?

I am using adobe reader 9.2. Today, out of the blue, a window popped up - Accessibility Setup Assistant. I opted for recommended settings.
Now all the text displayed is such bad... don't have words for it. See for yourself in the image below :
The text in the left pane is perfect while the right side is something which hurts the eye. I dont know why this is happening ? And why did I get that Accessibility Setup Assistant ? It was something I did not had to care about and reader displayed fine text.
Anybody knows whats happening please ?

  • HT204088 anyone have any issues accessing security in sys pref? Mountain Lion

Does Anyone else have an issues accessing the Security/Password in System Preferences of the Mountain Lion OS. I have just upgraded this morning and got a message about not being able to access a site. It appears Moutain Lion has changed the security of accessing sites and need to be adjusted ot suit your needs. The problem is I can't access it. The Security icon is the only one of the icons in the system preference that hangs and I am forced to quit.
Any one else have this issue?

I'm not sure this will help. There is supposed to be a "Security and Privacy" preference pane in System Preferences. But on my MacBook Pro, there is no such pane visible. However, if I do a search in System Preferences for "Security and Privacy", the preferences open. So it's "there" but not visible. I don't know why.
However, if you try this and manage to get into Security and Privacy via searching in System Preferences, you might be able to do what you want.

  • Issues accessing my iTunes library

I have recently reinstalled my Windows OS however am having issues accessing my library. I have reinstalled the new iTunes software and cannot see my previous songs that were stored in my library only some of them appear. Can someone please explain my issue and how to workaround this? thanks.

Hi - thanks for your reply
The only songs we can view in our Itunes library all seem to be songs purchase from itunes. (approx 60-70)
When we click on 'our ipod' button all the songs we have ever added to the ipod, (in excess of 600!) whether from a CD, or itunes are greyed out... so we are little stuck as to how we get them to appear in our itunes library.
Could you let me know how you start the scan and get it to loaded back into the librabry at all please?
    Thanks,

is anyone having issues accessing their online acct

I still have the data utilization option, AND the rest of the app seems to be working as well. I can see the data utilization stats for mu own number, but I get an error for the other smartphone and the tablet I have on the account.  So, if my daughter has the app on her iPhone, would she see her own data utilization info only?  That makes sense, but it would be more useful to me if I could see hers on my app.    Maybe that's in the works....

  • Disable Accessibility Setup Assistant?

I am using the Adobe Customization Wizard utility to create a transform file to then install Adobe Reader 11.0.0.x via a group policy.  Upon first running the Reader after installing with the transform file the Accessibility Setup Assistant dialogue box appears.  Is there a way to either disable this or preset the accessibility options to take the recommended settings and skip the setup process using the customization wizard?

Posted too soon, I found it.
It's under the Advanced option in the Bluetooth menu in system preferences.

I can connect to "linksys" as a wireless network, but get no internet access. Please help! Thank you!

The settings that you provided is for the modem so I suppose you can able to go online with modem… Please let me know the IP address that you receiving from the modem… Since the connection that you have is DSL connection and if you are receiving the IP address from the modem under LAN (Local Area Connection) is a Private IP address (192.168.X.X) then follow the steps:
    # Connect the modem with the Linksys Router WRT54G on the Internet Port and then connect the Computer on any of the Ethernet Port on the Router (Numbered – 1, 2, 3 and 4)…
    # Open up the browser and on the address bar type 192.168.1.1 that will open up the Router setup page…
    # Look for the Local IP Address and change it to 192.168.2.1 …
    # Click Save Settings...
    # Then Click on wireless Tab create the Wireless Network Name SSID and select the channel to 6, 9, and 11… Click Save Settings...
    # Then Click on Wireless Security sub tab and select the security mode and provide the password as per the requirement… Click Save Settings...
    # Click on Status Tab on the Router Setup page check if Internet IP Address has numbers or values. If the Internet IP Address has numbers, the computer should now be able to access the Internet. If the IP address is all zeroes (0.0.0.0) click "IP Address Release" first then click "IP Address Renew".  If the IP address is still all zeroes, enable PPPoE on the router.
To enable PPPoE on the router you should have a username and password provided by the ISP (Internet Service Provider) and follow the steps...
    # Under the Setup tab, set the Internet Connection Type to PPPoE…
    # Enter the Username and Password that your ISP provided, including the domain in the User Name field if necessary…
    # Click the Status tab then look for Login Status and check if it says Connected.  If it’s connected, you should be able to access the Internet.
After doing the following settings then connect the wireless computer the preferred Network… Once it gets connected you will be online wirelessly as well…

  • Issue accessing VMs via RDweb

    Hi All,
I have followed the article written below by Keith, and have set up a virtual network on Azure with one machine hosting AD & DNS, and the other configured for RDP session virtualisation (so i can publish an app for multi user access)
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/keithmayer/archive/2013/09/04/step-by-step-remote-desktop-services-on-windows-azure-a-cost-effective-alternative-to-desktop-as-a-service-part-2.aspx
i have already sorted the Microsoft licensing and published the app required, however i have encountered an issue with either the DNS or RD Gateway - the issue is that when i type the address of the RDP machine in an internet browser (http://machinename.domain/RDweb)
it times out and cannot find the machine to even get to the RDweb login screen, and a 'could not connect' is displayed in the browser.
If i type the azure address of the machine in the browser (https://machinename.cloudapp.net) then i can get to the RDweb screen OK. I have tried checking the DNS settings and the AD machine is OK (internal address of 10.0.0.4), however it times out when looking
for the RDP machine (internal address of 10.0.0.5). I cannot connect by the external IP address of the VM either.
Would someone possibly be able to point me to some information on how i can configure/check the DNS or RD gateway so that the RDP machine is able to be found? (sorry i am not really a gun at DNS related material) - I have tested and if i try to access the
RDP machine via the RDweb address in IE internally from one of the machines, it does work and the RDweb login screen appears, just not from an external source.
Any help you could offer would be much appreciated.
    thank you,
    Michael.

    Hi Susie
When I refer to 'external sources', I mean any other machine other than the Azure VM that is hosting the applications.
For example, while logged inside the Azure VM that is hosting the applications, I can:
Browse to the 'RD Web Access' URL
Log in to the RD Web page
    Successfully launch the published apps
Here is a video of me doing the above while logged onto the Azure VM: http://screencast.com/t/PxZTcXmEl
However, if i attempt to do the above steps on any other PC, we can:
Browse to the 'RD Web Access' URL
Log in to the RD Web page
BUT, when I attempt to launch the application, I get the error "Remote Desktop can’t connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons..........."
    (screenshot)
Here is a video of me doing the above on my local machine: http://screencast.com/t/zjKlPcok9Fn
    Licenses
In relation to our licensing, here is a video of our current 'RD Licensing' setup:
    http://screencast.com/t/3c6qNfWno1u
Can you see any issue with this? The License Diagnoser says all is OK?

  • Issue accessing iCloud account

There's an iCloud account with an appleID on my laptop that I don't recall setting up. I deleted it and set up my regularr Apple ID as the primary iCloud account on my laptop.
Now all the notes on my laptop have disappeared.
I have tried reinstating the deleted iCloud account but don't know the password. I have tried to reset the password but it is not coming through to any of my email addresses.
I really need to reinstate this account as the notes are for my work! I can't access them on iCloud - same issue - I don't know the password and no email seems to be coming through with the reset.
I'd be really grateful for any help!
    Thanks.

The account name is my hotmail address followed by @me.com so its definitely associated with me. I am wondering whether it was setup when i took my laptop in to be repaired, so perhaps I should ask them. It doesnt recognise my date of birth either. Really strange. Any other way I can recover my notes?

  • Cannot access setup page.

My wrt54g works but I cannot access the setup page. A partial page does appear but with no tabs. I am using W98SE. None of the available download software accepts w98 and this forum is definitely a work in progress.

I have and had the same problem now with 2 different versions of this model. What I have found is that it often messes up when you access the setup page with a 100 MB/Sec connection! Soetimes it works fine, others nyet. Totally wierd but the proof is in the pudding. Go into Network Connections, select "Local Area Connections" and right click for "Properties". Along side of "Connect Using" box on top is the "Configure" button. Click on that and then select the "Advance" tab. Somewhere under the "Property" list is an item for connection speed and type. Most of the time it is maxed out. Select that item and in teh value list box find "10 MB/Sec Full Duplex". Click OK to back completely out and you are done! Sometimes you may have to unplug the router to reset both ends. If this is your only connection to a network, like at home, don't even worry about reseting things back to 100 Mb/Sec. 10 Mb/Sec is plenty fast enough for the internet (Faster then the cable modem is feeding you). If you copy massive files between home PC's you might notice a slight speed hit. By massive I mean 10's of MegaBytes or more.

  • XP Distant access on WRT54GS

I have setup a home office lan with WRT54GS wi-fi router. There is 2 desktop computer on the network and a printer. When we work on the road, we have to access our desktop PC from time to time using the Distant Access within Windows XP pro.
My desktop PC is connected to the router using a cable and my wife is connected via Wi-fi card. When using distant access, we can connect to my Desktop PC but not the other one. Both distant access set-up are identical.
    Any help ?
    TIA

Well, I'm quite sure I did try whatever ng's correpondants were telling me. But for the sake of having a better neater approach (and certainly learning), I'm more than ready to try it out again.
    1) The Status IP is the same as the one seen via whatismyipaddress.com
    2) DHCP server is enabled and address mapping is 100 to 149, the default.
    3) I didn't turned off the vista firewall but on top of of Router and Distant access already in the firewall exception list, I added port 3390 on TCP protocol
    4) UPnP is enabled
    5) Port forwarding : Vista PC is 192.168.1.102 and port 3389 is assigned to it. XP PC is 192.168.1.101 and I assigned port 3390 to it
    6) Netstat -a gives me 0.0.0.0:3389 as listening but I can't find port 3390 anywhere in the list although its within exception list in the firewall. Did I missed something in there ?
    7) As for telnet, I never used it and I think I need to use it from outside. But I guess that if Netstat o not see 3390, I'll first have to address that problem.
    Thanks for the help
