Issue: all day events arent shown in year view

Hi,
the normal behavior would indicate an event in bold in the year view. but this only happens on days where normal events (no all day events) have been set up.
i cross checked it with a 2012 client. working as expected. all day events show up in the year view.

You can change the way that all day events are accepted into your calendar by using the Options menu.
1. Click Tools > Options, double-click Calendar, then click the General tab.
2. In the Accept Options area, click the drop-down menu located beneath Accept All-Day-Events I send to myself as, then choose the option you want.
3. Click OK.
sry, but i dont see how i can change the way how all day events are displayed.
is there still a need to copy the view files to the groupwise server?

The setting you quote is actually to determine how all-day events that you
create for yourself are handled (for any future event you create). By default,
all-day events have a display of "free" (as opposed to "busy" or "tentative" or
"out of office"). If your calendar is "free", then there is no bolded
indication that you have something scheduled in the year view.
If you look at an all day even in your calendar, you will see a box under
recurrence that says either "free/busy/out of office/tentative". In order for
an all day event (or any event really) to bold the calendar number, this value
cannot be "free".
There is no need to copy views to the Post Office any longer. Views are in a
fixed location on the server (/opt/novell/groupwise/agents/data) and the POA
always has access to them.

  • Repeating long all-day events not shown in second portion of week view

    When I create a long all-day event spanning from a Wednesday to the following Tuesday, I can see it in both the first and second week views that it spans. For example, I created an event spanning from Jan 9, 2008 (Wed) to Jan 16, 2008 (Tue). It is visible in both week views, i.e. from Jan 6-12, and Jan 13-19.
    However, when the event is set to be a repeating one, it disappears from the second week view, Jan 13-19. The event is still visible on the Jan 6-12 week view. When the event has its repetition removed, it is immediately visible in the second Jan 13-19 week. There is some bug in the week view that apparently screws up repeating all-day events that do not begin on the week being viewed.
    A fix on this would be greatly appreciated. Anyone else notice this?
    Everything is normal on the month view.

    I have exactly the same problem. I work a 21 week pattern of days off and on over a 17 day period, ending with a random 28 day block. So every 147 days I repeat that 28 day block named "random".
    However, when the random block spans to the following month the entry is viewable up to the last day displayed in the month view but step forward to the next month and the entry cannot be seen.
    Example: All day event starting on 16th Apr 2008 until 13 May 2008, custom repeat every 147 days (never end), appears in April month view up to May 4th. Step forward to May, which includes from April 28th and nothing is displayed.
    Yet if it is not a repeat event it spans correctly!
    I'm relatively new to OS X and can't remember for sure but I thought Tiger handled it correctly?
    Can anybody confirm this?

    Hi when i make a all day event for somebody. It is not recognised as not avalible that day when i try to make a other appointment.

    iCal does not provide a way to make an all-day event block your free time, though the underlying data format (and the server) does support that ability. If you want such a capability in iCal please file a report against iCal for that feature.

  • All day event not appearing in month view

    If I know there is an all day event on a day and I click into it from month view it is there. But for some reason I cannot see any of them from moth view. There is no colored or gray bar indicating an event. 
    There is one in week view. And if there is a timed event it appears in month view.
    In a separate, and puzzling, event I lost all my events. Putting them back in, but not sure if this happened with 1.4 or new Facebook update. 

    There is an old thread on this issue. Its by design that all day events do not show up in month view and not a bug. Many users (myself included) would like this to change. I suggest using the feedback and feature request page to let them know.

  • All-Day events showing up in Weekly view but not Monthly view

    Okay, so I have about 80 All-Day events that I am setting up. They are not recurring events but all will be multiple day events. I am setting all events up to have two alarms, one alarm being a cut off date specific to that event and the other alarm corresponding to a group meeting date prior to each event.
    Since about 95% of these All-Day events will occur on the weekends, I will have several different All-Day events on each weekend. What it happening is that when viewed by month, I am not seeing all of the All-Day events but when viewed by Week, all All-Day events are there and editable.
    I thought it might be a result of space constraints so I deleted events on days where I had several simultaneous events and that did not allow "hidden" events in month view to become visible.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    One more thing, it prints just fine in Month View. Bizarre.

  • Calendar display issues for "All Day Events" coming from Exchange Server

    My problem is with the display of All Day events. I'm running a 3gs, Outlook 2007 on winxp, connected to a Exchange 2007 server. When an all day event is put in for multiple days the phone calendar displays it as starting at midnight going to midnight, and sometimes wont display the event on the list view on the phone. I can correct the display by editing it on the phone and making it all day there, but then the category I assigned the event in outlook goes away in outlook. All day single day events work just fine. Any suggestions?

    Sort of same issue:
    All day events scheduled from Entourage display incorrectly on iPhone/iPad as non-all-day events (which block out entire day/multiple days)
    All day events scheduled from iPhone/iPad show up correctly in Entourage as all-day events, but incorrectly with an *extra day* added.

  • Old All-Day events not showing in Calendar List View

    Reviewing events in my Calendar on the iPhone and have noticed that All Day Events that are older than one year do not show in the "List" view
    For example, I have all my holidays in a calendar called "Vacation". Month and Day view list holidays from earlier than today (09 Sept 2008) properly, however list view shows nothing. Timed events (e.g. day trips) in the same calendar show.
    Similarly no Birthdays appear in the past. I can see a case for Birthdays being omitted in the past, but not other events (e.g. wanting to know exactly when you went to that all day wedding last summer)

    I have this same exact problem. For me, past events that have a specific time associated with them show up in List view; however, past events that are all day events only show in List view once in a blue moon only. Apple support has been absolutely clueless about this issue. They just tell me it's weird and they have no explanation. It's unbelievably annoying though.

  • All-day Events Disappearing

    Hi,
    I switched to Mac last year and haven't had any problems until now. I was recently using iCal when it quit unexpectedly. I got the program to open again by deleting the application preferences (although I also tried repairing permissions). However, now I can't create multi-day, all-day events that appear in Month view (non all-day events don't have a problem) - they only appear in week/day view. Also, there seems to be extra trouble with the month of March 2011, especially the 12/13th. I can't get to March 2011 by seeking through the months on top, and when I do find a way to get to March 2011, the 12 and 13 are often times on top of each other, or the 13th is un-editable.
    I'm trying to find a way to fix this short of un/re-installing! Thanks!

    I do have a backup which is the only way I was able to get the events to come back (other than the 2nd time it happened when they magically reappeared on their own after a few minutes). Once I restored from the backup, I then reset the sync data and overwrote the local contents with the contents from MobileMe to make sure everything was current. I considered downgrading but I think I'll tough it out for now and just keep making backups. I noticed that iCal is spitting out a bunch of messages to the system console, so this should help me dig deeper into the problem if it happens again.

  • Show ALL all-day events in week view

    I am looking for a way to see ALL all-day events in iCal's week view. By default, it only shows up to two and a half events, and to see more you need to scroll. What's more, you don't see an out-of-view marker, so you don't always know you need to scroll. This is most annoying.
    The same goes for timed events in week view. You do not get an out-of-view marker, so you don't know you need to scroll. This is inconsistent with the Cal app on the Mac, where you do get an out-of-view marker (a small line in the colour of the out-of-view event).
    Is there a way to fix these issues in iCal? Or is there an iCal alternative that offers these things? I am basically looking for these things, each of which is a possible deal breaker for me (and I find it hard to figure out if iCal alternatives offer these basic functions):
    Week view.with out-of-view markers.
    Week view showing ALL all-day events.
    Icon that shows the date (in the icon or in a badge).

    I'm not sure how this got in the iPhone forum. I seem to recall posting in the iPad forum, but I may be wrong. Anyway, it's iCal for iPad I'm talking about, even though the same issues exist on the iPhone.

    I agree with David.
    I have "Japanese holidays" on iCal imported from /ical/librar as "all day events".
    Also I have many "not-time-specific events", like the name of trade shows I may attend, as all day events on iCal.
    I guess that is the way a lot of people use "all day events" on iCal.
    So "all day events" on iCal should be synced as "memos" on the phone.
    Otherwise, the weekly view looks ugly and any meetings entered on the same day conflict with the name of the holiday or trade show...
    I just hope Apple or Nokia fixes this problem soon.

    I use MFE for syncing my calandar. In the past while using the PC suite an all day event was shown on my E65 as a memo. This was fine because one could see the event the whole day.
    Now with MFE it syncs as an appointment.
    Is there a possibility to sync all day events as a Memo or Birthday?

    Interesting.
    I've seen a mix up with journal entries before, are you using the standard notes template?
    Could it be that incorrectly or non standard names for notes forms in the template and the application does not know how to input the data?
    What are you using to synchronise your mail?

  • How do you disable all-day event notifications?

    I've already read the various threads about the issues with all-day events disappearing from the Today view and only appearing in the Notifications.  However, I am having an issue when trying to disable all-day event notifications.  I currently use my all day events from my work calendar (Lotus Notes 8.5) that is synched to my phone.  I have disabled the "Notify Me" option within Lotus Notes and changed the default all day event notification on my phone to "None".  The problem is that this has not disabled any all day event notification and I still get notified every night at midnight for the event.  This didn't happen on iOS 6 or any of the iOS 7 beta versions.  Is this something that can be fixed?  Thanks!

    the Automation quick access should be off by default. I don't think this is what will do it for you, but here is a description of it, Page 320 of the manual
    Automation Quick Access
    This feature makes Track Automation extremely fast and simple if you only have one hardware MIDI controller available (one fader on your MIDI keyboard, or maybe just the Modulation wheel). You can use this single hardware controller to access (and automate) the currently visible Automation parameter of the selected Track in the Arrange window.
    since it is midi messages that you do not want to send from your controller, I think you need to go to song settings an filter out incomming midi messages. File>song settings>midi>imput filter
    but really any messages being sent should only effect the channel you are playing. I am assuming you are playing one of logics instruments for live performance.

  • Erratic behaviour of 'all day events'

    I use iCal very successfully for recording campsite bookings. It's only a small campsite - never more than ten pitches at a time, so at best I have 10 'all day events' spread across a week view (as discussed in this forum, month view is no use for viewing more than 4 or 5 'all day events' because iCal hides any more than this).
    Anyway, to get back to the problem, which just occurred for the first time last night, in 'week view' I have a week in July that hides an all day event when it is set to run for five days but if I change it to run for six days, it re-appears. What is strange is that there is no apparent limit to the number of 'all day events' that can be displayed in 'week view', so is it a glitch in the program? All other aspects of iCal and the OS are very stable.
    Grateful for any thoughts or solutions.

    You really need to get it a bit more predictable to make it worth investigating.
    You could try changing the geometry - make your iCal window wider or narrower or taller ... but even if you get it right for that particular combination of events it can still occur some other week with a different combination.
    When checking your bookings you could get into the habit of turning on only one calendar at a time. Alternatively, since numbers are small, why not add an "unbooked" calendar with one event (all day) for each free space, then change its calendar as necessary. That way you should always have the same number of all-day events, making missing events more obvious.
    You can give OS X Feedback, but you will here nothing. Alternatively you can join (free, and you don't actually have to do any developing) the developer programme, which allows you to submit bug reports.

  • Can I list/export more than 3-4 all-day events

    Hi:
    I need a way to list more than 4 all-day events in the monthly view. The three dots up above mean they will list in the daily/weekly view but this does me no good.
    I also wonder if you can export to .pdf more than 3 all-day events. Why is this not possible? It's a severe limitation, and I find too many of these with Mac's stuff. Close, but something silly always gets in the way. I am almost over it.

    Hi Mark,
    As far as I know, there isn't a way to show more than three all-day events in iCal's Month view.
    You could make a PDF of the month in List view. This should show all of your events. In month view choose Print. In the dialog change the view from Month to List.

  • OS5-Issue with reminders/alerts of all-day events

    Hi there,
    in our company we are used to set up anniversaries and birthdays as all-day events with a reminder at 08.00 AM in Lotus Notes which are synchronized together with individual calendar entries to the Blackberries. After upgrading the first Bold 9000's to OS5, the alerts for birthdays and anniversaries don't go off anymore.
    The Calendar entries are configured in Lotus Notes as all-day events with a reminder 8 hours after the start time (In the BB-Calendar these are shown as negative values). In the calendar-overview these entries are on the OS5 devices now shown without the bell-icon. If I open one of these events the reminder is configured with a negative value.
    Although it is and was never configurable directly via the blackberry-devices (where you can only set the time the alarm goes off in advance, means positive values) , it always worked with all OS 4.x devices.
    But it seems that with OS5 it's not possible to remind this way anymore.
    Unfortunately, it's no option to put birthdays and anniversaries at for example 8 o'clock in the morning with a reminder at the same time, because the users don't want to have (sometimes multiple) events within their day schedule.
    Could someone please verify that this is a OS issue. The used OS is 5.0.0.681, Lotus version is 8.0.
    If this issue persists with all 5.x versions we are forced to downgrade back to 4.x.
