As part of our Exchange 2010 -> 2013 migration we've transitioned CAS to Exchange 2013 2 weeks ago. Some 50 mailboxes have been moved to exchange 2013. Moving mailboxes for everyone is scheduled the 2nd week of july . Because our current version of Outlook
is 2007 (migration to 2013 is due thissummer) we've configured NTLM authentication for OA.
Exchange setup: 8 Multirole (CAS/MBX) virtual (VMware) Servers: each 4 cores, 24 Gb memory (reserved) : Windows 2012 SP1, Exchange 2013 SP1 (15.0.847.4030)
Right now we're facing client connectivity issue's: Outlook Anywhere clients are continiously losing connection with exchange, some people (outllook 2007/exc. 2007) report every minute or worse.... Moving the mailboxes of affected people results in
less problems: Sometimes no disconnects for 10 to 30 minutes, then reconnects every minute for some time.
We've already set the timeout for the oa-pool in our network proxy (riverbed steelapp) to 20 minutes and the minimum keep alive on the 2013 servers to 120 seconds which improved Oultook 2013 clients; before I experienced reconnects every minute, after every
10 to 30 minutes (with periods of reconnects every minute)
testconnectivity.microsoft.com gives positive results (apart from a nspi warning about server side encryption)
testing with rpcping according to

I've tested all (8) CAS 2013 servers over ports 6001, 6002 and 6003; each 100 rpcpings with a for loop: every response was either about 500 ms or about 21 Seconds ?!?
How can we furher troubleshoot the reason of the long reply time. Eventlogs (and SCOM with exchange 2013 MP) show no relevant events or alerts.

I've repeated above test this afternoon: All test resulted in about 40-60 (of 100) replies >20 seconds

We've changed a timeout setting in the Steelapp virtual server (old: 10 sec; new: disabled) the connections between Outlook and Exchange are, when established, very stable (almost no failed request anymore)
However there still existst a conectivity issue:
The 8 Exchange 2013 servers are placed in 2 different Active Directory sites (4 servers in each site) and I have found that a cross site rpcping consequently takes more than 20 seconds (with the loadbalancer bypassed ! !) where a rpcping on the
same AD-site takes 200-300 miliseconds...

The same tests with our Exchange 2010 CAS and MBX (NO multirole) shows fast (300 ms.) with every combination. The servers are both on the same networks in each site
We've already started talking with the network guy's: There should be no rules between both networks.
OWA, Autodiscover, EAS all work fine.
How or where to troubleshoot this slow response between two AD site's ??

Issues with Hosted Exchange, UM and Lync 2013.

Hello everyone!
I am trying to deploy UM with Office 365 Hosted Exchange. We are using one Lync 2013 Standard Edition FE and have deployed one edge server. We have set up our firewall to host the Reverse Proxy.
We do not use wildcard certs. External DNS resolves the _sipfederation and sip._tls SRV records to the external face of the edge server. The edge server functions as it should for remote users and mobility.
I have tried to follow these instructions to the letter three times over to no avail.

Neither Snooper or Event Viewer show any particular issue, though when I try to dial out to voice mail I will get one to two rings and then 5 seconds of silence a fast busy, and finally "Call Unsuccessful".
When checking the firewall logs I notice a seemingly random 10.x.x.x address being sent to the firewall by the external leg of the edge server. Wireshark captures it as STUN packets on port 3478 being sent to port 3478. These are being dropped by our firewall.
I believe them to be RTP packets but I do not know if this is normal behavior. Has anyone any ideas?

Strange issues with multiple Exchange accounts with iOS4

Strange thing, I have
- one corporate account with Exchange
- one gmail account with traditionnal setup from iPhone
- other imap email accounts.
Since iOS4 came out, I decided to move Gmail to Active Sync mode. It worked, I had issues sending emails, even when connectivity was ok. I decided to delete all accounts and start from scratch so
- I began with Gmail: setup with Exchange/Active Sync
- I sent an email from Gmail to my corporate account (I didn't have it anymore on the iPhone)
Results:
- First the sent email gave me an error, I went to the outbox, clicked on resend, it worked after 2 retries
- Surprise: the mail sent from my gmail account to the corporate account was in my corporate inbox...but also in my gmail!

You can use the following cmdlet to repair this problematic mailbox and check the result.
New-MailboxRepairRequest -Mailbox xxx -CorruptionType FolderView
If the issue persists, you can move this problematic mailbox to another mailbox database and verify the result.

MimeMessage.reply() issue with MS Exchange Server 2007 Emails

I have an application that retrieves emails from an MS Exchange Server 2003 mailbox. The data from each message is read, validated and conditionally loaded to a table. If the message doesn't pass validation, a rejection email is sent back to the sender with an error message and a copy of the email. (We're using Java 1.5. However, I test with both 1.5 and 1.6.)
Also, if the message passes validation, positive notification is sent back to the sender.
Both processes use the method: javax.mail.Message.reply()It's coded as:
MimeMessage reply = (MimeMessage) message.reply(false);My organization is in the process of migrating to MS Exchange Server 2007. We've found that the reply() method no longer finds the sender method, thus unable to create a reply message. The error message we receive is:

When the original message is accessed using IMAP, the reply method uses the information in the
IMAP ENVELOPE to determine where to send the reply. It first looks for the Reply-To address
in the ENVELOPE, then the From address.
Interestingly, when not using IMAP, the getFrom method returns the Sender header if the From
header is empty. The IMAP-specific code doesn't do that, although perhaps it should.
It would be interesting to compare the ENVELOPE data from the protocol trace in the two cases.
The ENVELOPE data will follow this syntax:
envelope     = "(" env-date SP env-subject SP env-from SP
          env-sender SP env-reply-to SP env-to SP env-cc SP
          env-bcc SP env-in-reply-to SP env-message-id ")"
So it's the first three address fields after the Subject that are relevant. If the From and Reply-To
fields are NIL, but the Sender field has a valid address, let me know. I should probably fix the
IMAP provider to fall back to the Sender field if the From field is missing.

Issue while installing Exchange 2010 SP3 in SBS 2011

I tried installing the SP3 on my SBS 2011 box but it asked for a Hotfix from KB2550886 to be installed. When I tried to install the Hotfix it said that it does not apply to my SBS 2011 box and did not install. However I went ahead with the installation
of SP3 but it stopped just before the final action. Thereafter I was unable to access my Exchange and in services the Microsoft Exchange Transport service kept on stopping despite starting it manually. Spent more than a day trying
to resolve the issue but when nothing came forward I had to rebuild my server (you may disagree with this step but I had no other solution) over the weekend.
I tried installing the SP3 but again it asked for the Hotfix. I have not proceeded with the installation of SP3 but have installed the SP 2 which I had preserved.
MS Exchange Best Practices Analyzer shows "Exchange store does not start". However when I follow the information in KB285116 I observe that everything is in order.
I would like to know the experience of other persons in this forum before I start the installation of SP3 once again.

We can not get any OC report from DWH system based on EUR.
If we are able to get the report with EUR, we should have no OC.
Please suggest me how to convert this currencys, but in the same report for this customer i am checking 2 currencies like TRY and EU1.
Please advice me what to do for getiing EUR insted of different currencies.

I have two tables. One table (name as 'A') is partitioned another one(like table name 'B') is not partitioned but have unique index. I am going to exchange the data from B to A. That time B tables's index is moved to unusable state. Can u please help to resolve this. Is ther any option except using Alter index rebuild option.

Mailbox Move Issues and Errors - Exchange 2010 to 2013

I'm trying to move mailboxes from 2010 to 2013, but I'm experiencing a lot of issues.
My move batches keep hanging (stalled) for minutes and hours on end, and I can't seem to keep them going consistently.
I have two DAG's, one for Archive boxes, and one for Primary mailboxes. Each DAG has three members with DB copies of each DB. The npdes and the clusters themselves are up and healthy. However, at random some of the DB's Content Index state will go to Failed
or SuspendedandFailed. At which point I force a catalog refresh and DB index update, and it goes to healthy.
I've created the "ContentSubmitters" AD group (and assigned it permissions), reset the Search and Host controller services on each server, and restarted the Replication service. I also deleted and recreated the Index for each DB prior to restarting
services. No dice. I've also already moved the system mailboxes over to the 2013 databases.
I'm also getting some "Transient" errors in the user move log, things like this:
Transient error ResourceUnhealthyException has occurred. The system will retry"

I would suggest you to run the below command for this "My move batches keep hanging (stalled) for minutes and hours on end" issue and see the result
Get-MoveRequest -Identity "Mailbox Name" | Get-MoveRequestStatistics -IncludeReport | FL Report
Just check if the MRS health is fine by running the below command
Test-MRSHealth -Identity "CAS Server" -MonitoringContext $true | Export-CliXml "C:\temp\CAS_MRSHealth.xml" and look at the xml file to get more information
When I run the Test command against either of my CAS servers, I get: " 'EXCH1' does not have the right Exchange Server version or role required to support this operation."
Run i run that command against any of the mailbox servers, it completes and generates the XML file, but I'm not sure what I need to be looking for within that file.
The first command spits out a ton of data, here's a little excerpt:

For those users having issues syncing outlook exchange to iphone read this

I just went through **** on my network getting iphone OS3.0 to sync with exchange and it was so easy once I figured out why,
scenario: you go through the wizard, not the imap one but the exchange button, put in all your info, have it fail on the autodiscovery and enter in your webmail server address, and nothing, fails to verify or verifies and nothing appears but your inbox, heres why,
if you go and run the tests from the exchange server (or have your IT folks do it)
its http://testexchangeconnectivity.com
run the exchange activesync test (lower one) not the with autodiscover - thats for 2007 exchange users,
you will need the following ports open on your front end server or firewall
80 143 443 465 and 993 (this covers all the iphone sync ports needed) you can open 25 if you choose imap, but you wont need imap
run the test, and if it passes and you dont get mail here's why, theres a http://500 error on the sync feature, because Winblows uses kerberos authentication on the backend, so you need to enable IWA (or integrated windows authentication)to do this remote into or go to the exchange backend server you need to enable integrated windows authentication on the /exchange virtual directory inside IIS, i know microsloth states use the ESM, but dont, once the change is made on the backend server restart it or restart iis services through the iis snapin,
if you do not have access to the exchange server backend you can buy your it guy some cookies or a food gift (we all love food) and they might be nice and do it,
* update *I have recieved a few emails about certificates, there are (2) ways to do this,
either use the iphone configuration utility - slow way
or email your self signed certificate to yourself and download it on your iphone either through safari and the owa interface or an external gmail or other account. save the cert and it will automatically put itself on the iphone and all you need to do is click/touch install
other issues, please respond. I am a Engineer with 21yrs experience, and vast experiences in multiple platforms, including the elusive iphone.

I have a 3G, upgraded to 3.0 the day it was released. Everything was fine until 3 days ago. I have 2 accts set up through the mail app, one is a Yahoo and one is Exchange (for work). Both accounts have always worked perfectly. Suddenly, the iphone Exchange acct stopped accessing my inbox. Yahoo is fine. My calendar and contacts are still syncing to exchange. I can open the mail in my outbox,trash,sent folders. I can send mail from the exchange account on my iphone. It will show me names of the subfolders in my inbox on the iphone - but everytime try to get to the incoming mail, it tries to connect and says it can't est connection. IT says no changes to server. Tried hard reset, restor, delete acct. No luck.

Calendar Issues with ActiveSync Exchange 2010 14.1.438 to iPhone IOS 6.1.4

The iPhone is missing some new calendar meetings and appointments. It is so random, some of them are meeting request I accepted and some of them are appointment I made on Outlook 2010. I see them on Outlook 2010 and OWA. If I delete the meeting or
appointment from Outlook and then put it back; it shows up on my iPhone. It also sync if I delete the syncing of the calendar to the iPhone and put then add it back on.

Issues with 2010 exchange server DAG

Hello, for some reason, at some point today our monitoring alerted us that the application status is 'down' on our DAG on exchange.
In the cluster failover manager, each host had written the following log entry:
"Cluster node 'SERVERNAME' was removed from the active failover cluster membership. The Cluster service on this node may have stopped. This could also be due to the node having lost communication with other active nodes in the failover cluster. Run
the Validate a Configuration wizard to check your network configuration. If the condition persists, check for hardware or software errors related to the network adapters on this node. Also check for failures in any other network components to which the node
is connected such as hubs, switches, or bridges."
I followed the article based on the issue
But was unable to locate the problem. A few errors we returned regarding a single point of failures on the NICs for the exchange servers, labelling them as a single point of failure, but otherwise, the exchange servers within the DAG seem OK.
I have also checked the DAG settings within Exchange Management Console to see if there is any issues within that and I can see all databases are healthy and synced, with one server having the Databases mounted which is normal behaviour. Despite all this
I am still unable to see any actual issues which could lead to why the cluster of the DAG is showing as down.
I have taken a look within the cluster management MMC and can see that there is nothing listed within the 'Cluster Core Resources', other than the clusters IP, surely there should be an application or directory listed here ?
any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Do you use the Validate a Configuration Wizard to review the network configuration?
If not, please use the Validate a Configuration Wizard to review the network configuration to check result.
And please make sure the cluster service is running on these nodes.
Please check if Antivirus is running, if there is Antivirus, please disable temporarily.
Please make sure the Network Binding order should be correct.
Besides, please check the Cluster Events log to see if there is any related error message.

Issues with my exchange email account

Ever since I upgraded to Mountain Lion, I mail 6.0 will not connect to my Exchange account for work.

There is a long thread about Exchange issues in ML on this board already. Suggest you ate a look at it because you are not alone. Server addresses seem to get changed, ad tat is causing problems. Apple techs are on it and hopefully there will be a fix soon.

Issues adding Gmail Exchange to 4s 5.0.1

So there seems to be an issue that I cannot seem to get resolved whatsoever. I am trying to add a gmail exchange to a iPhone 4S (blk, 32g) on the 5.0.1 software. Every time that I add the exchange it seems to be added but when click on the mail icon I get a pop up that says the password is incorrect. I know for a fact that the password is correct due to me resetting it. I have tried adding this same gmail as an exchange to another 4S that is on software 5.0 and it worked fine. I have also added this gmail as an exchange to a iPhone 4G and it worked fine. I reset the 4G that is on software 5.0.1, I have also rebooted the phone and still get this issue. I thought it was just that ONE phone but I also tried to add this exchange to another iPhone 4S (white, 32g) with software version 5.0.1 and it still does not work and it gives me the password error. I also tried adding totally different gmail as an exchange on both of the S5.0.1 and it did not work again. Has anyone had this issue or came across this issue and been able to fix it?

No problem. I'm glad that you didn't delete it, others may have the same problem too! No reason to feel like an idiot as it really does seem like a bug.
In the Settings app under Notifications -> Gmail you can enabled and disable sounds, badges, and notification center. The Gmail app actually has a nice guide built into it (scroll to the bottom and it's under Help).
Maybe I'll keep Gmail around after all.
