Issue changing Apple ID!

Hi.
I recently picked up an iPhone 4S and changed my old Apple ID from an extinct email address to a current one. Everything is good with the phone and I updated my iPad to OS5. I noticed that the phone and pad were not updating each other via cloud so I went into the iPad to check the settings. When I go to ->settings -> iCloud, a message pops up 'incorrect user id or password', with the option to ignore or edit. I click on 'edit' and up pops the old user id with the cursor active in the password box.
Here's the problem...I don't remember the password for the old user ID and the iPad won't let me change the pre-filled-in old user ID to the current ID (that area is gray). I saw some suggestions in other threads to go to iTunes or the app store and change the ID there by logging out and then back in. Both those areas already have the new ID. I tried signing out and back in anyway but that had no effect on the ID in  ->settings -> iCloud. My old ID is there and I can't change it.
I tried to retrieve or reset my old password for the old Apple ID but that email address is long gone and I can't answer the security question (the question is 'enter your birthday' and I entered it but Apple says that answer is incorrect!!!).
Does anyone know how to change the iPad settings to update the old ID to the new, current ID?
If it's useful information, the iPad does not have any purchased apps. There's just a couple of free apps loaded (ie Skype, etc.).
TIA,
SFPV

Does no one out there have any ideas on a solution to this problem? I thought perhaps I should try deleting the account in --> settings --> iCloud, but the warning that 'everything stored in iCloud will be deleted from this iPad' made me chicken out. I've got all my contacts on the iPad and sure don't want to lose them!
Thanks for any thoughts,
SFPV

iMessage issue: Changed password for my Apple ID this morning and now my iMessage is sending through my email instead of my number and I haven't been receiving any texts through iMessage! I read the article, followed the steps, and it did not fix the problem. Help?

    Hello!
On all of these devices, go to: Settings > iCloud and make sure they're updated with the new password. If you're talking about Macs, go to: "System Preferences > iCloud" too.

I can't get FaceTime or iMessage to connect, I enter valid password (tested and works for Apple account) and it won't connect. I have checked all settings, upgrades iOS to 8.3 rebooted, changed Apple acount PW still wont connect. My internet connection is fine Safari works and I can access all sites. I have an iPad 2. This is an ongoing problem as you will see by searching the forum.
Out of curiosity, do you have 2 step verification enabled?  It was recently extended to include iMessage & FaceTime & I'm wondering if it might be causing some of the issues that some users are experiencing.

  • Changing Apple Id to be my Icloud email address?

I have been using my sky.com email address as my Apple Id but I am now trying to stop using that for anything.   The apple web page for changing Apple Id will not let me use my icloud.com address as my apple id - it says it is an apple domain and that apple domains can't be used for apple ids.  Is there any alternative to having two email addresses?
Also my IPhone (3Gs) does not like the icloud email address - when I try to set up the account it comes back and says it can't log onto the me.com imap server with the icloud address. Is icloud email compatable with iphone 3Gs?

JWBL, I am annoyed by exactly the same issue and there are more and more people complaining. See the discussion I created here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20844772?ac_cid=op123456#20844772
Roger, your point is that you should always have a non-Apple email address associated with your Apple ID so Apple can send you login information if you lose your password. That is certainly true. But it does not imply that that non-Apple address has to be the name of your Apple ID. And there is even a way to make an iCloud Address the name of your Apple ID: If you create a completely new Apple ID with the initial setup of an iPhone. But that is of course not an option if you already purchased stuff with your existing Apple ID.
It is not a major problem, but it kind of annoys me that I keep seeing my obsolete Gmail address everywhere after I switched to iCloud and it's just a ridiculous limitations I can't see any reason for.

  • Change apple ID on Purchased APP's

Until fairly recently my wife and I shared an apple ID, simply because it was easier, as we only had one debit card to pay for purchases etc.
However, as our finances have become more stable I now have my own Apple ID and iphone 4.
So all of the APPS that I have previously purchased using our 'shared' Apple ID, I have imported into 'my' iTunes. I've also been able to sync them with my iphone.
The problem is, that when updates are issued they are looking for our 'shared' Apple ID. I did not with the following link that I'll need to put our 'shared' apple ID password in, forever...
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20842941?searchText=Change Apple ID on APPS#20842941
    Isn't this slightly rubbish?
I have paid for them, so don't see why I need to continue to use an old Apple ID. I appreciate this is for security reasons (otherwise, one person could download and share it with everybody). But, really that's not my concern, my concern is having the ability to update Apps that i have bought and paid for, without having to ask my wife "what's YOUR apple ID password again".

Sadly that's the way it is. Apps are permanently tied to the ID used to purchase them, and you can't update apps across multiple IDs without switching in and out of each account.

  • Change Apple ID country, then change back, all the data of apps store is gone

Use iPhone 5s change Apple ID country, then change back, all the data of apps store is gone, the apps I uninstall but buy before if I want to buy before,I need to buy again! Is there any way that I can fix it? Thank you!

Apple ID is only valid for purchases in the Swiss iTunes Store.
The issue is that your credit or debit card credentials must be associated with the same country where you reside.
"Although you can browse the iTunes Store in any country without being signed in, you can only purchase content from the iTunes Store for your own country. This is enforced via the billing address associated with your credit card or other payment method that you use with the iTunes Store, rather than your actual geographic location."

  • Change apple ID when buying apps

    I.need.to.use.a.different.apple.ID.to.buy.books.on.my.iPhone.but.don't.know.how. to.change.the.ID.when.doing.so.
    It.only.puts.in.the.password.but.I.need.to.change.the.e-mail.as.well.

I had to delete my first Apple ID account and set up another. You really cannot delete the old one, but set up a new one. I deleted all my apps on my phone (or just the ones showing updates available) and then went individually downloaded them under my new account. I only had two that I paid for under the old account, but has to buy them again. I an considering buying a Galaxy 5 because of this issue. Apple obviously needs the cash.

  • HT3702 How do you contact iTunes to recover money they charged my bank account with out my authorization. Invalid security code problem. Could not fix card issue.Changed bank card information and I got charged for tiny zoo bucks $24.99. I Got no zoo bucks

Changed bank card. Got charged $24.99 from iTunes  for a prior  purchase  that would not go thru due to invalid security code. When put new information on iTunes payment . iTunes charged my account without me confirming order and I didn't even receive the zoo buck 50% sale special. They just took my money . Now I can't connect to iTunes Store because they are fixing problems. What can I do to get my money . Can't even reach tiny zoo who gets the money. iTunes should of sent a confirmation request when new card was submitted before taking money.

Thanks, but I've been on the phone with AppleCare US (where I am and live) and AppleCare UK. They continue bouncing me back and forth without helping resolve the problem.
Perhaps someones knows how to further escalate the issue at Apple?

  • Cannot load backup (due to changed Apple ID/updated email address)

I have followed the answer provided to Ross202 by Gail from Maine. Unfortunately I fear my problem may be larger.
    Objective
Move iCloud-backed up data to new iPhone (old phone "drowned" over holidays)
    Context
My original Apple ID was EmailOld. This email address (EmailOld) has been terminated. Unfortunately my iCloud / backup is linked to Apple ID EmailOld (so verifying this is not possible). My new AppleID is EmailNew, and this has been verified. I have tried changing my Apple profile to EmailOld, as suggested by Gail (without the verification email).
Despite following Gail's steps, Apple could not backup my old account. Error message:
"Cannot load backups. There was a problem loading your iCloud Backups. Try again, set up as a new iPhone, or restore from an iTunes backup.
    Options
    - Try again (*)
    - Set up as a new iPhone (**)
    - Restore from iTunes (***)"
    Troubleshooting steps
(*) Try again repeats same issue.
Apple ID EmailOld: "iCloud Sign in" --> Agree --> "It may take a few minutes to set up your Apple ID" --> Choose backup screen --> takes an age --> above message repeated
AppleID EmailNew: (Update AppleID to EmailNew in My Apple ID) "iCloud Sign in" --> Agree --> "It may take a few minutes to set up your Apple ID" --> "Choose backup" screen, with options --> selection of backups --> but then I either 1) have to enter correct password corresponding with EmailOld (and EmailOld and current password don't match), or 2) get error message above
(**) Set up as a new iPhone (using:
    (a) old Apple ID says --> "Could Not Sign In | There was a problem connecting to the server". I have reviewed and checked wifi connection, all in order here. I have tried using new account, same error message,
    (b) new Apple ID works. And this is hopeful - the device can detect I have about 10GB data stored on iCloud. However, I cannot agitate this sync from iCloud to my new device
(***) I have logged in to iTunes with Apple ID EmailOld (it works - it even says 17 updates on my apps, however I can't agitate updates). I cannot get a sync going.
My phone requests me to "Connect to iTunes", but I cannot do anything more than this. (I have unplugged and plugged my USB cable many times)
I have also logged in to iTunes with Apple ID EmailNew (it works too). But, again, I cannot connect to iTunes
    Possible solutions
Recognition of 10GB iCloud-backed up data on new device (despite the fact that old Apple ID doesn't match new Apple ID)
Any help will be greatly appreciated! 5 hours and counting :/
    Thanking the community in advance

  • How to change Apple ID?

OK, so I recently changed my Apple ID and deleted my old Apple ID. However, when I tried to switch to my new ID on my iPad, it asked me to enter my password. Because the account is deleted, I do not remember the password. I don't have it saved either. What should I do?
My iPad is a 3rd Generation WiFi, with 32 GB.

Then I would go this route.  This support site is for issues with Apple ID's and security. If you can find a phone number in here, that might be the best way to get help.

  • Can't Update Recently Changed Apple/iCloud ID on iOS7 and Can't Reset iPhone

I changed my AppleID and password shortly after updating to iOS7.  I tried to change my ID on the phone, but it seems to have locked in the old ID for certain functions.  I cannot change my iPhone iCloud ID by deleting the account or reset the phone as it requires the old ID and password.  I changed my Apple ID because my email address was old and no longer exists so I can't just revert back to the old one as I won't be able to perform the email verification. Please help!

After multiple hours (since 23:00 last night and some sleep) I found a solution.  I did install the "Find my Friends" app.  This did not fix the issue directly, but I am not sure it was required for the following steps to progress properly.
    My solution:
Changed my alternate Apple ID email address to a second, active, non-Apple domain email.Verified the email address.
Changed my primary Apple ID email address to the old inactive email account.Could not verify this via email (obiviously).
Went to iCloud settings in the iPhone and deleted iCloud settings on iPhoneThe ID now matches and the current password worked
Changed Apple ID to the previous active email addressVerified this address
Logged in iCloud on iPhone with the proper Apple ID
    Appears to work properly now.

I cannot receive messages from iphones since I got a new android device. did the change apple I'd password and whatnot...it still isn't working. what do I do?

Lets take first issue first: Apple does not charge a customer to 'keep' iPad access. That does not happen at apple. If you were billed and charged that amount of money from someone you were speaking to over the phone, you were not talking with Apple support. If you need to speak with apple support you are free to call them at 800MYAPPLE and they will talk to you for no more money than 19.00/ support event.
Please read this article to asssit with imessage and factime troubleshooting.

I'm sorry you have this happen to you - that being charged fraudulently for a non rendered service.
    Good luck to you Friend.

  • IMessage on iMac freezes  after changing apple ID

I changed apple ID. My iMessage started freezing the computer for at least 3- 10 or more minutes. It's an ID issue I'm told because I opened new account on mac and as soon as I logged in Apple ID iMessage and it did same thing to that account called Tester.

    Hi,
In that case contact Apple Support and ask them to look at the iMessages server with regard to your Apple ID.
The use of the Apple ID is device specific and it can be "refused" for a Mac when and iPhone still works.
As Level 1 people at Apple Support tend to Script Led you may need to ask to speak to a Level 2 person.
Even then you may have to endure some testing such as looking at the Keychain.

  • HT5787 Change apple id for all purchased apps...

I want to change apple id in my iphone as my old apple ID's password is not working. Please help me. I want to change apple ID for all new and old purchases.

Have you tried logging out an back into that account on your phone (tap on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store), and/or tried getting the password reset for it : http://iforgot.apple.com (if you do get the password reset then you might need to logout and back into it) ?
If you create a new account then that will work for new purchases, but all of your existing downloads will remain tied to your old account, so only your old account will be able to redownload those purchases and/or download updates to its apps.
