Issue connecting ios 7 devices to WPA2 wifi networks

I am using Cisco Wireless in our corporate environment.  We are using Enterprise WPA2 security which requires the user to accept the certificate.  I am no longer able to connect to these networks after installing ios 7 except for a newtork that I already accepted the certificate for.  I enter the correct credentials and immediately get a message that it cannot connect to the network.  I should get a message to accept a certificate.  I wanted to open this up as an ios 7 discussion because it currently happens on my new iphone 5s as well as on my iphone 4s and ipad 3.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Unfortunately, the 7.0.3 upgrade did not resolve my issue. In order to connect to another internal wireless network, I have to forget the one that I am connected too. That is my current work around. Ultimately, this only affects us in the IT department because we are the only ones that jump between networks.

  • Error 2 when attempting to connect to my 802.1x protected wifi network

    Environment: We have 2 different wifi networks at work, one of which is WPA2 and the other is 802.1x protected. The WPA2 network is limited to domain authentication and basic web/mail traffic. The 802.1x network allows access to all resources of the domain, as provided by the access granted to my domain account. I have a Macbook Air 5,2 running Mac OS X 10.8.1 bound to a Windows 2008 active directory. I have a local administrative user account as well as a network account that has administrative access. The certificate for 802.1x is not signed by a trusted authority. This was explained to me as "it's fine, we made it" by our network admin. I am able to select the check box to always trust this certificate. This issue does not present itself with our other Macintosh systems or iOS devices. This is the first system we have that is running OS X Moutain Lion.
    Problem: I can connect just fine to our WPA2 wifi network, but I'm having trouble connecting to the 802.1x wifi network.
    Background: If I have my preferred wireless networks only configured with the 802.1x network, and I attempt to log in with my domain credentials I am told that network accounts are unavailable. If I log in with a local administrative account I am prompted for my domain credentials and am allowed to connect to the 802.1x network without issue. Once I'm connected to the 802.1x network, all resources are available as expected.
    If I have my preferred networks configured with the WPA2 network I'm allowed to log in with my domain credentials. If I then attempt to change networks and connect to the 802.1x network, it asks me to continue with trusting the certificate from our domain controller, then I'm asked for my admin credentials in order to update the settings in my certificate trusts. I input my credentials, click update settings and am met with a long delay, sluggish performance (I'm not able to access any other app, not even finder), and am eventually I click cancel and am then met with an error stating there was a problem connecting to the network, the server has stopped responding. When I dismiss all dialogs, I notice the wifi network is joined to the 802.1x network after about 15 seconds without further input from me.
    Once I'm connected to the 802.1x network, all resources are available as expected.
    Goal: To have our Macbook Air connect to the 802.1x protected network by default so network users can log into this system and have full access to domain resources.
    Below is a snippet of the console during the attempt to gonnect to the 802.1x network:

    Thanks for the swift reply, I have been looking online and a loose plug seems to be somewhat of an issue with many, I hope mine is actually a problem and not what others are experiencing. It's taken me this long to even reach out for the simple fact I HATE being a complainer but this is just horrible.
    Do you have an iPad 3 as well? And is yours not experiencing any issues close to mine?
    Thanks again!

  • Is it possible to print from an apple device without a wifi network?

    Is it possible to print from an apple device without a wifi network?

    I cannot make out the text, but my previous apply assumed that you wanted to create a wireless network.....without Internet access...... using an Apple device, like an AirPort Express.
    It's simple....just "create a wireless network with a name and password of your choice. You will be notified of an "error" that you do not have an Internet connection. Simply click to "ignore" that error you will have a green light on the AirPort.
    If the Apple guys told you that this is not possible, then they are simply wrong.
    Devices will be able to connect to the wireless network and print to the printer....assuming that it is AirPrint compatible model.
    My guess would be that the printer that you already have is not an AirPrint compatible model.  In that case, the Apple store guys were partially correct.  But, there are Apps that you can install on the iPhone and iPad that will allow printing to most printers, even if they are not AirPrint compatible.
    If you have a question about how to configure an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme to create a wireless network.....without an Internet connection.....we can probably help.

  • HT4356 Can I use a 'pc' network printer connected via ethernet to the home wifi network ?

    Can I use a 'pc' network printer connected via ethernet to the home wifi network ?
    or must the printer I want to use also have a wifi connection ?
    I have a home network using ethernet connected devices to a router, also attached to th erouter is a WiFi unit. We are using the WiFi unit to connect to the network and hence to the big wide WWW.  We now want to print from our IPads pereferable to our netowk connected HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a series. (not the wireless model).
    I was using the HP ePrint app to print from the Ipad, but I do not fully understand how this works. It seems that you must use the app to do the printing which is fine for basic email and photos, but I can not access the drawing package I have, and want to print from it. Please what is it that I do not understand.

    You must use an airprint printer directly connected to wifi through it's own wifi card.

  • How to get the list of active devices in current wifi network?

    Hi All,
    I am going to a start a new Network based app. So please any one give me an idea on the below question.
    How to get the list of active devices in current wifi network?

    Nope I want the log-in user to retrieve its Group where he is belong. I have this following code
    strUsername = Request.getParameter("username").toLowerCase().trim()+"@dev.test.com.ph";
    strPassword = Request.getParameter("password").toLowerCase().trim();
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, INITCTX);
    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, MY_HOST);
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_AUTHENTICATION, "simple");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL,strUsername);
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, strPassword);
    // enable tracing
    env.put("com.sun.naming.ldap.trace.ber", System.err);
    // Create the initial context
    DirContext initCtx = new InitialDirContext(env);
    // Get the target context
    DirContext targetCtx = (DirContext)initCtx.lookup("");
    SearchControls constraints = new SearchControls();
    constraints.setSearchScope(SearchControls.SUBTREE_SCOPE);
    // Perform the search on the target context
    NamingEnumeration enum = targetCtx.search("","(userPrincipalName="+strUsername+")",constraints);
    javax.naming.directory.Attributes attrs;
    NameClassPair item;
    String[] attrIds = new String[]{"MemberOf"};
    // For each answer found, get its "Groups" attribute
    // If relative, resolve it relative to the target context
    // If not relative, resolve it relative to the initial context
    while (enum.hasMore()) {
    item = (NameClassPair)enum.next();
    Out.println(item);
    attrs = targetCtx.getAttributes(item.getName(), attrIds);
    Out.println(attrs + "<br>");
         initCtx.close();
    It returns all this string :
    {memberof=memberOf: CN=CMCanadaRD,OU=Groups / Teams,DC=dev,DC=test,DC=com,DC=ph, CN=iMngrCanadaRW,OU=Groups / Teams,DC=dev,DC=test,DC=com,DC=ph, CN=Domain Users,CN=Users,DC=dev,DC=test,DC=com,DC=ph, CN=Backup Operators,CN=Builtin,DC=dev,DC=test,DC=com,DC=ph, CN=Administrators,CN=Builtin,DC=dev,DC=test,DC=com,DC=ph}
    How can i retrieve the Group named CMCanadaRW and CMCanadaRD on the Attribute?
    Thanks

  • Does Facetime have the ability to be HIPAA compliant using a 3/4G instead of WPA2 wifi network?

    Does FaceTime have the ability to be HIPAA compliant using a 3/4G instead of WPA2 wifi network?

    Apple says that FaceTime is "protected by end-to-end encryption" but has not detailed that encryption anywhere I can find, and most references are to FaceTime when using WPA2 Enterprise security on WiFi. If you are with a company or organization that is considering using FaceTime for transmission of PHI, this is something your legal consultant and HIPAA Compliance Officer probably needs to address since it will probably involve your specific cell carrier.

    Since upgrading to Lion OS 10.7.1, the wifi connectivity keeps blocking up intermittently and we need to manually keep switching on and off the wifi utility to get the connection back. even locking the preferred wifi network in system preferences does not help. This never used to happen with Snow Leopard

    This is a big thank you to Rys Sinnefeldt who posted this fix.
    Rys has made this fix very easy to do and takes literally 2 mins. It involves replacing the Atheros Lion driver 4.0 and replacing it with the snow leopard driver. Don't worry, Rys has made this so simple to do even I could do it and so far I have had no more wifi drops.

  • IPhone 4S iOS 6.1.3 will not connect to or even find any wifi networks, any ideas?

    I updated my iPhone 4S to iOS 6.1.3 and therein started my wifi problems. At first the signal was just dropping out and I kept getting the "Unable to join..." message, which was annoying but it had periods of time where it worked fine and gave me some hope. Since yesterday my phone has not actually identified any of the available wifi signals (not just my router, but also any other networks when I've been out and about) and so I am unable to join any as I cannot even see them to select them.
    I have tried:
    - changing the channel on my router
    - turning my router off and on again
    - turning my phone off and on again
    - plugging my phone into the computer and making sure it was updated (I did this yesterday which may have made it worse as that's when the problem intensified?)
    - resetting my phone by holding down the home and power button
    - resetting the settings on my phone (numerous times)
    - changing the WPA2 settings on the router
    - checking that I have got the wifi turned on
    - setting my iPhone to "ask to join" wireless networks
    I would suspect something fishy with the router, except that my husbands iPhone is still working fine (he has not yet updated his iOS), my MacBook and his laptop are still connecting fine, as is the PS3 and the wireless printer. I went out today to a place with an open wifi network and my friend with an iPhone 4S (*not* updated to iOS 6.1.3) could see it and connect to it, but my phone didn't even pick it up and we were sitting right next to each other. There are 10 wifi networks in the vacinity of my house which my MacBook and husbands iPhone can see but my phone is now not seeing any of them. This HAS to be something on my phone, but I can't ruddy well work out what it is and meanwhile I am going to get charged loads for using up my data allowance. The only good thing so far about having all this faff is that when I updated to 6.1.3 my phone wouldn't send any photos to anyone unless it was via iMessage and since I've been changing all the settings I found one that works, so I have been able to send my mother in law some pictures of her granddaughter. My own parents will be getting upset by the lack of wifi though as I don't want to FaceTime them using my 3G.
    Any help would be most appreciated.

    Hi JimHdk,
    I have also upgraded to ios6.1.3, and facing same wifi connecting problem, after upgrade my iphone3gs is not connecting to my laptop shared wifi, which was working perfect with ios6.1.2,
    and its not an hardware error, its software error, crippy apple does not test their releases which causes problem to users.
    Updates:
    Earlier wifi connection which i was using on my Iphone 3gs, was WPA2, which was shared from my laptop via "Microsoft virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter", was working perfectly till ios6.1.2, but when i have upgraded my iphone 3gs to ios6.1.3, my iphone 3gs became unable to join wifi,
    Today I have created "adhoc network"  on my laptop using "Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n"(default wifi adapter of my laptop), and kept security type "WEP", and found my wifi working fine with my iphone 3gs,
    So if someone using LAN internet on their laptop, they can share their LAN internet to use on their ios devices, via creating an 'adhoc network',
    How to create an 'Adhoc Network',
    choose Security Type : WEP (compatible with ios6.1.3)

  • FTP connection on mobile device works over wifi but fails over 3G

    Hi all,
    Hoping someone can help, or has come across this issue.
    I am developing a mobile app using flash builder 4.6 with the flex 4.6 sdk. My app needs to transfer files via ftp.
    The issue I am experiencing is that the ftp connection establishes and files transfer without a problem when connected via wifi, on both android and ios platforms.
    However, when only connecting via a 3G connection on a device, a problem occurs. While I can establish a connection, when I send the USER command, I never receive a response.
    A simple view with code to reproduce this issue is listed below. Has anyone come across this problem? I have been searching far and wide but cannot find anything related.
    Could this be an issue with Adobe Air or the socket class? I have written equivalent code using the android sdk in eclipse, and a connection to the same server and user details works on both wifi and 3g connections.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Probably you need to write your own AIR native extension, which uses the native Android sockets..I have the same problem and I'm just starting writing the extension...I guess there is no other way..At least you test with native android socket and you confirm is fine, so we know it should work

  • Connecting to a WPA2 Wifi network

    I am trying to connect to a wifi access point at work. we have WPA2 security enabled. My phone finds the network but when I enter the password it always says that I have entered the incorrect password. We have changed the password and tried multiple times but without luck. My phone connects to my home wifi network with no problems but I have WEP security at home

    make sure you are using the correct WPA2 (personal versus Enterprise). Otherwise, check you got the correct information from your IT people.

  • TS1398 Niether my iPhone 4s or my new iPad will connect to the internet on any wifi network.

    I have restored them both to factory settings and the problem persists, any ideas?

    Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
    iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks  http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304
    iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
    Additional things to try.
    Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Why won't my Macbook Pro recognize (and connect to) a printer on same WiFi network as my Mac.

    My Macbook Pro was connected and printing to my WiFi network just fine.  However, I started getting an error message saying my printer was not connected.  I checked my printer and it is still connected to wirelss network and the printer test confirmed it was with a strong signal. I have turned off and restarted both the printer and Macbook but I am still getting the same error and it will not print. I decided to delete the printer and add it back, however, when I tried to add it my Macbook didn't list this device or my label maker that is also connected to the network.  It is as though my Mac is not recognizing any devices on the network.  Could I have a setting wrong on my Macbook?  My notebook is connected to the network and it is working.  Both my printing devices show they are connected to the same network.  Help!  I would appreciate any suggestions !

    I had almost the same thing happen the other day - kept getting a message that my printer was not connected. I went to the printer setup on the printer's panel and the IP address was correct, everything looked as if it should be working. So I just reset my router - figuring that would fix the problem. No go. What I finally ended up doing was resetting my router to factory settings and setting it up anew.
    And that's what worked for me.

  • WiFi connections are unstable on multiple different WiFi networks

    Has there been any updates on the unstable WiFi connection issues with the Note 3? I have this issue with multiple different WiFi networks even though signal strength is not an issue when it happens. I picked up my Note 3 in August/Sept 2013.
    1. Work WiFi
    2. Home 2.4G channel and 5G channel
    From what I have searched so far, I am by far not the only person with this issue, but I have yet to see a fix or any kind of legitimate input  from Verizon on this issue.
    The issue even happens in SafeMode so I know its not an app that I downloaded that is causing this issue.
    Thanks

    Samsung is aware of the issue. The fix is supposedly with Kit Kat.
    They may suggest you going to a Best Buy mobile and have the software removed and put back on. Been there done that, didn't work.
    Sending a replacement out isn't going to help. It is a known software issue, and it will continue until there is a build that fixes the issue. IE: Kit Kat.
    You should have the MJE build. This software is the problem. MJ5 was no problem. If you get a replacement MJE should be on it, if not as soon as you put the SIM card in it will start to download it.
