Issue connecting with PC office network

I have a macbook pro in an office of PCs.  Our sharedrive is located on a desktop PC, and my mac will not connect to that PC on the network about 95% of the time.  I recieve the following message: "There was a problem connecting to the server "XXX" Check the server name or IP address, and then try again. If you continue to have problems, contact your system administrator."
Has anyone faced a similar issue? Thanks.

Hi,
Yes, exactly, and glad you mentioned the PC, as that is my situation too.  My Macbook Pro runs OS 10.8.5  and is connected to a windows workgroup of my own administration (home office).  None of my other macbooks ever experience this, and it sometines points to my one PC, a Dell Optiplex running Win7 "[There was a problem connecting to the server bruce-PC"].  Other times it refers to the server by ip address.
In both cases, a simple "ping" command shows that the "problem" server is responding normally, 64 bytes coming back in about 1.2 - 1.8 ms.
This behavior started back in Leopard days, sporadically, then stopped for a while eventually after upgrading to Mountain Lion, to started again last year, stopped again, now started again intermittently and is now NOT stopping.  Makes the computer unusable, which ***** cuz it just went out of 3-year Applecare but still works great otherwise and I need it to composite edit and edit my short films and to teach classes at New YorkUniversity.
I WAS using Network Magic for my Network admin -- great software, actually, but I just uninstalled it to eliminate that as a factor.  No diff.  CANNOT make it stop.
HELP!

  • Issue connecting with iTunes Match

Hi, i've got an issue connecting with iTunes Match. Most of the time iTunes doesn't connect to iTunes Match when launching the app. I just see the cloud symbol that indicates it tries to connect. And it just keeps on going. I then have to quit iTunes and relaunch it. Type in my Apple ID password. And still nothing. But around a third or fourth time I usually get a connecting going and then listen to music
And I'm not impatient. I give it some minutes everytime while opening and browsing the iTunes Store.
And the same thing happens after Sleep Mode. It is kind of annoying. Having open and close iTunes all the time.
Is there anything I can do? Am I perhaps doing something wrong? Is anyone experiencing the same problem or issue?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Yes, your music remains on you computer.

  • IPhone 4 suddenly stopped connecting with home wireless network

Upon getting a new wifi router, initially my iPhone 4 connected. Last night I lost wifi conneciton on it and cannot get it back. Updated to IOS 7.1 to see if it would help. Nothing. Have reset network setings, gone into airplane mode and attempted hard restart. Have also reset modem. The phone worked on another wireless network and all other devices in our house are working fine. Does anyone have any insights/ had this problem before? House network is Bell Fibe.
The phone can see the wirless network but when we go to connect it infinetly spins.
    Thanks!!

  • Issues connecting to Iomega StorCenter network harddrive with Mac OS 10.4.x

I am having difficulties connecting to an Iomega StorCenter harddrive under Mac OS X 10.4.10:
The drive is visible within the network but whenever I click the "Connect..."-button the mouse pointer changes to the spinning beach ball and I have to restart the Finder to continue working.
Those Iomega StorCenter drives use Windows shares, so Mac OS X tries to connect with Samba i presume. Under Mac OS 10.3.x all works well, I can establish a connection and moves files to and from the shares but whenever I try to connect from Mac OS X 10.4.x the computer hangs as described above.
I have checked the workgroup settings and noticed that Mac and harddrive are not in the same workgroup. However this should not be a problem as you can connect under Mac OS X 10.3.x and while connecting, you can enter the workgroup of the target drive or server in question.
Iomega has come up with a solution which you can find here:
    https://iomega-na-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/iomegana_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=18423&pcreated=1142005136
I want to find a more convenient way, though – a solution that is acceptable for people who are not used to command line interfaces.
    Any ideas?
What is the cause for the connection problem anyway?
It seems that many are having issues regarding Mac OS X 10.4.x and Samba...

This problem only appeared after 10.4 was installed, so it's not really a quark problem. I have 1 10.3.9 Mac on the network and it does not have any of these problems.
This problem, I belive, was supposed to be fixed in 10.4.7 but it's made no difference, using SMB or AFP doesn't seem to resolve the issue either.
Permissions are locked down on the network here so I cannot give the Everyone group modify rights.

  • Why do I lose network connection with my standalone networked printer and have to reinstall it

I have a Laser Jet MFP M1530 printer that loses connection with the network. All the computers on the network have to delete the old configuration of the printer and reinstall it prior to it working. The printer is in a standalone configuration. Everything else on the network continues to work.

The Laser Jet MFP M1530 is a commercial product. I suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support for a better chance at finding a solution.

  • Trying to set up my brand new MacBook Pro and it does not connect with the wifi network I have selected for this purpose. Nothing wrong with the wifi as both my iPad and iPhone are happily connected. Suggestions for connecting to the wifi network accepted

Setting up my brand new MacBook Pro and it will not connect to the wifi network. Nothing wrong with the network which is happily working for my iPhone and iPad! Suggestions accepted for making this connection.

Fixing this is a two step process:
    1) System preferences > WiFi/Airport ...
... check [√] Ask to join new networks
"Known networks will be joined automatically.
If no known networks are available, you will
be asked before joining a new network."
    2) Remove unwanted networks from the list of "known" networks under
    System preferences > WiFi/Airport > (Advanced) > | Airport/WiFi pane ...
Close the window and save changes. If no joy, do a restart to ensure you are playing under the new rules.

  • NAS connection with Exadata on Network Port

    Hi,
What I found on exadata and NAS.
Can I connect the database servers to external storage?
Yes, you may use the network ports on the database servers to connect to external storage via NFS or iSCSI. However, the Fibre Channel Over Ethernet (FCoE) protocol is not supported or allowed.
My question is : What would be impact on performance if we connect Exadata with NAS on network port as NFS?
Does any one using ? I want to have all backup on disk and from disk to tape kind of.
    Thanks

If you can afford it look at using zfs over infiniband for the best bandwidth if you go for 73xx or 74xx models. You will also get dual controllers for full redundancy.
Oracle's benchmark backup figures of 7 tb an hour are based on this setup If you go for a standard or 10 gig nfs connection you will get considerably slower speeds.
    Thanks

  • Palm 680 Issue - "Connecting with the deskop using Cradle" msg

I have a curious problem with my 680 Smartphone.  When not connected to the cable it is continously and spontaneously attempting to connect with the desktop.  Is this some sort of HW short or malfunction?  The phone is unusable.  Everytime I clear the msg it goes back into synch mode.
Even stranger, if I connect the cable from my PC to the phone, it will become usable again.  I can clear it out of synch mode and use all the features of the phone.
Has anyone ever experienced this?  I have done all the suggested troubleshooting on the support site.
Post relates to: Treo 680 (AT&T)

Hello GlennPalm1000, Welcome to the Palm Support Community.
This issue seems to appear when the bottom Hotsync connector gets wet or otherwise contaminated.  You might try cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol or contact cleaner from an electronics store.
Any chance the phone got wet?

  • TS1398 Not very helpful as I still cannot connect with my Netgear network with my iPad.

I have tried all the suggestions.  I cannot download the previous iOS and am sure that the update iOS 6 is the whole crux of the problem.  I cannot download as I cannot connect with the network.  Any suggestions?  I am a novice and need detailed help!

Is your N network using 5 GHz only?  The tech specs for the iPhone 4S lists that it can only connect to N networks at 2.4 GHz.  The iPad 2 specs do not list that restriction.

  • N97 MINI - Issues connecting with Bury CC9060 Cark...

    Hi,
I have an issue connecting my N97 mini with Bury CC9060 car kit. I am able to pair the device with the Car kit, but after a minute there will be a message pop-up in the car kit display says, "disconnected" (The connection with the Car kit & my Nokia N97 mini is lost). Still on my Nokia N97-mini display I can see the car symbol (as if like it is connected with the Car kit).
But now if I am receiving or making a call, I am not able to hear the audio (both I/c and o/g) either from the device or from the car kit. The only way is to switch off and on my N97 mini (reboot) to get the audio via my phone. Here I would like to know if there any thing can be done from to solve this issue (Is there any compatibility issues with Nokia N97 and Bury CC9060?)
Note: Bury 9060 is updated with the latest SW and my device also is having the latest SW (10.0.020)
    Please advice,

    Hi All
I am having similar problems with my E72 phone. It disonnects and reconnects from the Bury every minute or so and causes the Bury to reboot sometimes. If I am in a call I get a loud squeal and then it drops.  When I first had the E72 it worked ok for the first few weeks and then started having the issues. Then the phone was replaced due to an upgrade problem and the new phone was ok for a couple of weeks but has now started doing it again. I have tested the Bury with other phones and all is ok. Just about to upgrade the Bury and see if that makes a difference. Its very distracting when you are driving so i have to deselect the phone.

  • 3gs issues connecting with itunes

I left my iphone dowloading the new ios but it ask me to connect to itunes but i cant, the phone its not connecting with the cpu, itunes not recognizes the phone, what can i do?

Same problem here. Haven't been able to access to App Store since I got the iPhone 4. Keep getting "Cannot connect to iTunes store". I have tried everything, logging in and out, hard reset, syncing with iTunes - nothing works. I called support multiple time - it still isn't fixed. I have repeatedly tried to access the App Store on my iPhone 4 and on my friend's 3GS. His works fine everytime, yet my iPhone 4 can hardly ever connect. Very frustrating and dissapointing. I may have to return and go back to my 3GS - much more reliable in my opinion.

  • Dropping Connection with My Two Networked XP SP2 Machines, Windows Update Issue???

Sorry to interject a completely different problem here, but I have experienced the following.
Blame me for the newb I am, but here is what I did after repeatedly losing conn and thinking that my modem was burned up after 2 years of use:
    1)  Attempted to buy a new DSL modem on Easter Sunday...good luck...
    2)  Went back home after not finding said modem to find connection working again
    3)  Wife did not use her desktop for 10 days due medical procedure (no connection problems)
    4)  Wife gets better, uses her networked computer, I start losing connection again.
    5)  Not realizing step 4, I call ATT dsl and am told, maybe you need a new filter on your DSL line.  DL speeds return to proper speeds, think I am fine.
    6)  Wife uses Outlook 18 hours later while I am on my networked machine, we both lose connection
    7)  After reconnecting all possible wires, realize maybe the problem is with the latest Windows Update Patch OR a router problem
    8)  Go to my trusty Best Buy contact at nearby store, named Jason, and ask Jason if he has heard anything like this in the last 6 weeks...He THANKED ME PROFUSELY as he and his brother were experiencing the SAME networking problem.  Jason removed the past 7 windows update patches and that removed the problem for him.
He has since turned off Windows Updates.  Jason said that a couple of the update patches could not be uninstalled, but the 7 or so that could be uninstalled did the trick and he has not had dropped connections since.
Anyone else experiencing this?  I talked to a cable modem user/friend and he has been experiencing similar problems but the Microsoft utility with his router allows him to double click to re-establish a connection, unlike me who has to power everything down, count to sixty, and power up.
(I have not yet uninstalled the patches but wondering what others have seen)
    Thanks for the posts peeps!
    Scott
