Issue importing & synchronizing in LR 1.4.1

hello all, i'm hopeful someone can help with my issue.
I typically import images onto my local machine (either with tethered capture using Aperture 2.0 or copying from CF cards) & create a temp catalog where i manipulate metadata, filenames, etc. when i get back to my external HD (a shared drive), i then import all the images into the appropriate spot on the drive.
today, LR seems to have gone haywire. i imported some images shot yesterday using tethered capture, then tried to import a CF card directly onto the shared external HD - to no avail. so, i copied all the images onto my local machine and tried to import them into the catalog from there - to no avail. then, i created a TEMP catalog, imported the images, renamed, etc., and exported to the appropriate spot on my external HD, opened the shared catalog and tried to synchronize the folder - to no avail.
when using the import images, i get a never ending "acquiring dates" message. when i hit synchronize, the first dialog comes up telling me there are x missing files, but the import dialog does not come up after that. in both situations, the import feature is grayed out (throughout LR) until i restart the program.
i'm on an intel powered MacBook Pro, running 10.5.4 (although I upgraded from 10.5.3 halfway through this issue today, so i don't think Leopard is the issue).
any thoughts on what the heck is going on? i can provide screen captures of the various issues if anyone needs to see what i'm talking about.

There are two separate scenarios:
Synchronize:
I'll right click on any folder, control+click and select synchronize. The status bar moves about halfway and the "synchronize folder" dialog pops up. LR counts the missing images & once it's finished, I click synchronize. At this point, the status bar moves to 100% and disappears, but my folder doesn't update.
This is a catalog wide problem that happens on any folder I try to sync.
Import:
If I try and do a direct import, LR throws up a "computing dates" dialog, which never ends. I've let it go for over an hour on a very small number of images. Thankfully there is a cancel button, so I don't have to force quit the program, but my images are still not coming into LR.
In both scenarios, LR grays out the import option after I've attempted to sync for canceled out of the import.
The images I'm bringing in don't exist in my catalog already; when I've attempted to import across images that do & don't exist (by choosing a top level folder that contains a bit of both), the program alerts me of the images that won't be re-imported because they are already in the catalog.

  • Issues importing after Lion Os upgrade

I recently upgraded to Lion Os.  After the upgrade, I am not able to import my files from my CF card, it gives me an error message "The following files could not be imported because they could not be read".  I am currently using LR 3.5.  Is there a fix for this?  I was not having any issues importing my files until I upgraded to Lion.

Hi, I am experience the same problem with the final version of Lion and iTunes 10.4.
Each time I try to launch iTunes I get an error that reads:

If I look at the report, it matches the report the gentleman above included in his post.
Any idea how I go about fixing this?

  • Issues Importing MP3s

    Hello all!
Has anyone had any issues importing files into iTunes (11.1.11), using one of the following methods:
    1) File > Add to Library
    2) Drag and drop from the Finder window
I've had nothing but issues importing files into iTunes - everything just beach balls!
The MP3s I want to import are fine to play - no corruption etc - but I think the issue lies with iTunes.
Anyone remember the File > Import File / Import Folder option? I feel that the coding hasn't worked properly since the update (nor did it work on the previous version of iTunes) and it'll crash if you try to just import a folder or folders. It's OK if I go into the folder and highlight all the tracks and import them, but defeats the purpose if you want to import several folders.
I'm just frustrated that Apple have managed to break something that seemed to be working well into something that is a little sloppy.

    Hi,
I have not had any problems adding files using file > add to library. The only time I've had a problem when the file kind was not shown as Mp3 Audio. This was because the file name did not show .mp3 and kind was "document" rather than mp3 audio. Could this be the cause?

  • Issue importing Siebel data model into OPM

I am using OPM 10.2 and havaing a issue importing the Siebel data model in to OPM. I also have 10.2 Siebel connector installed on the desktop.
In OPM I cannot see the Siebel --> Import Data Model option in the menu.
Is there any configuration change that need to happen in OPM to do this?
    Edited by: SP1D3R MAN on 17/11/2011 18:02

    1. Make sure that you have the Siebel Connector 10.2.1 from Oracel Software delivery Cloud (formerly E-Devliery), there was a bug with the earlier 10.2 where the Policy Modeling Plugin was not working.
    2. Make sure that the files Oracle.Modeling.Siebel.Exchange.dll, Oracle.Modeling.Siebel.Plugin.dll exist the the Plugins sub-directory of Policy Modeling (default location C:\Program Files\Oracle\Policy Modeling\plugins)
    3. Make sure you are using Policy Modeling 10.2
if you need to manually copy the dll's they can be found in the siebel connector download at program files\Oracle\Policy Modeling\plugins\

  • Issues "Importing Fireworks HTML"...

    Howdy!
I am creating a website in Dreamweaver CS3, and I am currently having some issues importing Fireworks HTML.
Here's some background information with my project...
I began with creating an HTML template in dreamweaver. I then created a Fireworks project with an Image Swap and a drop down menu. I then exported the Fireworks project into HTML (which I used the "Use CSS for Popup Menus" option in the export options). After I use the "Import Fireworks HTML" on my Dreamweaver template in Dreamweaver CS3, the popup menus from the fireworks HTML is placed in very odd positions on the template.
Here are a few pictures to show you what I mean:
This is the exported Fireworks HTML all by itself, in the correct positioning...
This is what it looks like after I use the "Import Fireworks HTML" option in Dreamweaver...
Anyway, in the second picture you can see that I have multiple icons, and these icons also have Fireworks-created popup menus. When I import these separate Fireworks-HTML-created icons individually, it is a non-issue.
Is there a workaround for this issue? Or is this the first time anybody has seen this??
Any answers would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks all!!

  • Issue Importing FR in Excel using 'Split Pages across worksheet'

    Hello All,
I'm having an issue importing any of my FR's in which there are multiple 'Page' members in which I would like to display across multiple worksheets. I have tried checking the 'Split Pages across worksheets' box, however, only the first Page member is imported. I am currently running FR version 11.1.2.721 using SmartView version 11.1.2.2.310. Thanks in advance!

I tried that on 11.1.2.2.000 (Build 453) Smartview and 11.1.2.2.300 FR and it works fine.
It adds all the pages as worksheets in the same work book. See whether that is an issue with your FR version.

  • Issue importing ProRes files

Just bought Premiere CS6.  Have an issue importing ProRes files.  Have searched a dozen forums and FAQ pages, and not got a clear or functional answer.  I'm trying to find a phone number for Adobe Product support.  It is almost evil.  Every page takes me to either a FAQ page, or this forum, or back to the page I started at, never arriving at the product support number that is promised with the purchase of the product.
    Anyone got a suggestion?
I've already posted my issue on this forum several days ago, but received no answer as of yet.
When I try to import a ProRes file into Premiere CS6 (latest ver.) all that comes in is the audio track.
I've come across rumours and hints in various forums that suggests I should be able to import and edit ProRes in CS6, just not export ProRes.  Which is fine.  It allows me to do an edit on a Windows platform (in the studio where I'm working) and then I can bring the project back to Mac and output the master as ProRes.
    Help please!!
    Ben

I modified the title to reflect the issue your having sine it sounds like a phone # is no longer your priority now. I'm glad installing QuickTime fixed it for you. It is listed as a system requirements and we do recommend having it to avoid situations like yours. Many have worked for some time without it with little or nor problems.
As for the support number, I'm not sure what Number that would be either, but it seems like customers usually get good answers in a timely manner just by being on here. Welcome.

  • Issue importing item master data. Help!

    Hello All,
I;m fairly new to B1, looks like a great product.
Im having some issues importing master data using the data import tool under the administraion module.
I have a list of items, and it will only import the last row. The log error says " Character number is greater than allowed" on all other rows/items.
It's weird because all fields match perfectly, and if I put 1 row/item it uploads perfectly.  Only errorss when I have more than 1 row.
    Any help would be wonderful!

  • Issue importing .3ds file

I am having an issue importing the .3ds files. Photoshop has a window that appears that reads "Reading 3D Studio Format" (the loading bar in that window doesn't load) and then Photoshop closes out. I have updated everything, including the video card drivers. I have tried searching the issue online but cannot find a solution. My computer is fairly new. I just bought it back in February. It's an HP, has Windows 8.1 and a AMD A6-5200 w/ Radion HD Graphics card, if that helps at all.

Hello Chris, I am using Photoshop CC 2014.
This is what the log says:
Windows cannot access the file  for one of the following reasons: there is a problem with the network connection, the disk that the file is stored on, or the storage drivers installed on this computer; or the disk is missing. Windows closed the program Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 because of this error.
    Program: Adobe Photoshop CC 2014

    User Action
    1. Open the file again. This situation might be a temporary problem that corrects itself when the program runs again.
    2. If the file still cannot be accessed and
        - It is on the network, your network administrator should verify that there is not a problem with the network and that the server can be contacted.
        - It is on a removable disk, for example, a floppy disk or CD-ROM, verify that the disk is fully inserted into the computer.
    3. Check and repair the file system by running CHKDSK. To run CHKDSK, click Start, click Run, type CMD, and then click OK. At the command prompt, type CHKDSK /F, and then press ENTER.
    4. If the problem persists, restore the file from a backup copy.

  • Issue importing "Project End Options" preferences

    Hi,
I am having issues importing preferences. All seem to work perfectly except the Start and End > Project End Options (it actually changes the Action here, but it changes it to Loop Project - I am wanting Close Project)
The Adobe Captivate Help says: All preferences in your current project are modified according to those set in the preferences file.... So, am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Even I could see this issue in Captivate 4. The only way is to change the "Project end action" after importing the prefernces.
And good news is that this issue has been resolved in Captivate 5.

  • Issue importing .abbu backup and syncing to iCloud

    Here's the issue:
I accidently deleted some information I needed in my address book.  I thought everything would be okay because I could just import the backup .abbu file I recently exported. I tried to import the .abbu file and it looked okay for about 3 seconds.  Then, all of my conacts disappeared! I scowered the internet and found other people have had similar issues.
I struggled to find a way to fix this or at least find a workaround.  Needless to say, I did find a workaround, but it's very time consuming.  I'm posting on this board to see if anyone knows what the real issue is here.  I have already conacted apple support and they basically gave me the same workaround I came up with. They weren't able to provide me with a straight answer.
Here's my workaround for people having issues with importing their .abbu backup:
    1. Disconnect from the internet to prevent icloud from trying to sync.
    2. Import your backup .abbu file (which will import perfectly)
    2. You have to drag and drop all of your groups individually onto your desktop to export them in the vcard format.
    3. Once you do this, delete all of the contacts in your address book
    4. Then, create a new group and name it after one of your old groups you exported into a vcard.
    5. Drag and drop the appropriate vcard file into the group. Do this for all of the remaining groups.
    6. Connect to the internet and everything will sync again.
This is a very tedious process since I have about 20 groups. The SENIOR apple support guy basically told me this is how I should backup my address book and not to delete large amounts of contacts if I didn't want them restored easily.  This solution makes no sense to me.
My question is this:  What's the point of backing up an .abbu file if it can't import it back in and have it sync to iCloud with all of my groups? I thought that was the way it was supposed to work.
If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be most appreciated.

There is actually a solution that will require less overall work if you have a lot of groups. The basic strategy is to get the system to copy everything with groups intact to the On My Mac contacts, and then pull everything back into iCloud. That effectively updates all the timestamps and gets around iCloud not wanting to import old contacts.
    1) DISCONNECT ALL NETWORK CONNECTIONS - ethernet, WiFi, everything.
    2) Create a new account on your Mac, so you have a fresh Address Book with nothing in it. (Note that the new account shouldn't have any passwords in the keychain, so disconnecting from the network is just a safety precaution. If it asks for a password, hit 'cancel.' You don't want to connect to iCloud until the end.)
3a) If using a .abbu backup, copy the .abbu file that has your iCloud contacts to the new account. Double click the .abbu file to restore all the contacts.
3b) If you're attempting to restore from a file level backup solution, replace the ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook folder from your backup. Make sure the user id matches, and change it if necessary.
    4) Open the Contacts application. You should see everything as it was at the time the backup was created. If you have other accounts besides iCloud that you're not having issues with, you can remove them using Contacts->Preferences...->Accounts. And if there is anything in On My Mac that you don't want pulled into iCloud, you should remove those entries now. If asked whether you want to keep contacts on your Mac, just delete them. To restore iCloud cleanly, you ONLY want iCloud contacts from this point forward.
    5) At this point, if you want to, you can export to a .abbu file as a checkpoint so that if something goes wrong, you can start over without having to clean things up again.
    6) Under Contacts -> Preferences... -> Accounts, delete the iCloud account. You will be asked if you want to delete contacts or keep them. Click KEEP CONTACTS! This makes a copy on the local system, under My Contacts, complete with the all of the group information intact.
    7) Reconnect your Mac to the network if you disconnected it at step 1.
    8) If you're going for a clean restore, and you're happy with exactly what is in the On My Mac contacts, log into iCloud through a web interface. Make sure all contacts AND groups have been deleted from iCloud. (If empty groups are in there, they'll still be there looking like duplicates. If you have a lot of groups, start by clicking the last one, hit delete, hit return, hit delete, hit return... repeat until they are gone.)
    9) Add your iCloud account back to Contacts. It will attempt to merge all contacts. Since you only have a pristine copy in On My Mac with all of the group information, it will look exactly as it did at the time of the backup when you are done.
Now when you go back to your regular account, or your iPhone, etc.; your iCloud contacts should be restored after synchronizing.
I had 34 groups, and this saved me a lot of time over trying to work with .vcf files. It also ensures an exact restore, instead of accidental duplicates if you have contacts in multiple groups.

I face the same issue and I have given all permissions to the folder for OS user.
Because of this error my server is not starting up . Is there any way I can undeploy this composite to get my server running.
I cant do this from EM because SOA server is failing to start up.
I have tried removing it from $DOMAIN_HOME/deployed-composites but still when i try restarting the soa server the composite comes up there. Do we need to delete the entry some where else too. Kindly help.
    Thanks,
    Sri.
