Issue in approval process in Hyperion Planning
An Entity has three users in its Planning Unit Approval Hierarchy on "Budget" and "Approved" and also has been approved by third user. The third user who approved re-opens it and selects himself as next owner. Then takes a second step in which that third user delegate it to the user on the second position. Now when second user logs in, he gets that entity read-only on Approved version, but if he goes to First Pass, that is ok and editable as it should also be in the case of Approved version. Can anybody tell me why it is still read-only?
What version of Planning are you using ? If you can confirm that the second user is the current owner, status is under review (i.e only the current owner can write), and has write access to the cells then he should definitely be able to modify data. Are you sure that your version member "Approved" is not set as read only ? That's often the case with the "final" version of a scenario (I know you said the user can modify it when it's on first pass, I just want to confirm)

Error during Export process to Hyperion Planning:
Hello All,
I am trying to load data to Hyperion Planning from EBS GL. I have completed the setup including setting up source, target, mappings, rules, etc. The import and validate process from EBS is working fine but export to Hyperion Planning fails right away. In my limited experience with FDMEE, I have not seen this error before and your help is greatly appreciated.
Here is an excerpt of error from FDMEE process details which is the same error shown in ODI. Everything before this process seems to be working. It seems like it is complaining about a host name but not sure which host name should I be looking at.

Edited by: [email protected] on Jul 18, 2009 10:38 PMHi,
First question, has anything changed since it worked like admin accounts.
Reboot the machine.
Next, just start the "Hyperion Foundation Shared Services - Web Application" service
Can you log into Shared Services ?
If you can, then start "Hyperion EPM Architect - Web Application" service
Go to http://localhost:19091/awb/ Does the web page display ?
If not then you it looks like EPMA needs reconfiguring.
Next start "Hyperion EPM Architect - Process Manager" service, make sure the service starts and it should start another 4 services.
Next refresh http://localhost:19091/awb/ and try and login.
Cheers

Performance issue - Hyperion Planning Web
Hi,
We are using Hyperion Planning 3.5 and Essbase 6.5.
Our Application & Database servers are located in Dublin,USA.We access the application through web.All users access the application from the same Dublin location have no issue with the Application performance. But user's who access the application from outsideDublin(eg - Greensboro) are finding major issues with the application performance.Specifically with webforms and while running businessrules. And the issue occurs only during the peak of budget season when most of the users access application.
Client state that,
"The system is much slower out in the field than here in Dublin. It literally takes 15 – 20 minutes just to make a change and then after all that, it takes an hour to see the results only to find that they had to re-enter something. It’s really a very tedious process"
Please advise.I am not really sure what I can suggest as you on such an early version, you could have a look at :- http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_hp_admin/ch13s16.html
The information relates to version 9.3, it may be applicable to your version but I can't confirm that.
You could also look into increasing the java heap size for the planning web application, though I can't remember the exact process on your version, if planning is not run as a service the settings are probably in one of the start up scripts for planning.
Cheers

Hi,
I am getting the below given erro while upgrading hyperion planning from 9.3.1 to 11.1.1.3
I have done the following steps in sequence to achive the upgrade:
1. Created a planning application "plantest" on 9.3.1 , created hireachy and "create Database" from planning to make the essbase outile.
2. took the backup of planning db repository from 9.3.1 using expdp in a dumpfile.
3. migrated the essbase from 9.3.1 to 11.1.1.3
4. logged on to 11.1.1.3 AppWizard to create the similar planning application with the same name "plantest".
5. made a note of HSP_USER 50001 sid on 11.1.1.3
6. stopped the planning on 11.1.1.3
7. imported the 9.3.1 dump on 11.1.1.3 using the following command :impdp system/password DIRECTORY=TEST_DIR DUMPFILE=PLANNING_FINAL.DMP TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=REPLACE
8. started the planning on 11.1.1.3
9.When I am trying to login to the planning application on 11.1.1.3 - I am getting the following error:
- Application plantest is invalid.
I tried loging agian on the same page, this time it gave me a tab "Migrate" instead of usual "logon" and when I tried loging in, it gave the below error:
- An error occurred while processing this page. Check the log for details
Please let me know if i am doing anything wrong? - which log should I go and check?
Please help, its urgent.
thanks,
AnkitYes, on clicking the migrate button i get the error.
I am now looking into "HyS9Planning-sysout.log" and it has the following major errors:

How does the Approvals process work in Oracle Hyperion Planning v 11.1.2
Hi,
I have recently upgraded to Oracle Hyperion Planning v 11.1.2 and the way that the application handles budget / Forecast approvals appears to have changed.
Is anyone able to direct me to a user manual or provide me with some guidance on how to set up the approvals process in the upgrade Oracle Hyperion Planning v 11.1.2.
Currently I have the approvals hierarchy set to allow all approvals and have the approvals template set to bottom up, I have not put any values on the hierarchy and sub hierarchy tab as I want to drive approvals by entity only. I have set the correct Scenario and assigned the owners/approvers however when I start the approvals process the current owner is let sitting at no owner? Should this not pull though the owner set up under assign owners.
When I log in as the owner of the planning unit I do get the option to promote the unit as set out in the assign owner hierarchy however when I attempt to do this I get the following error:
Failed: Unauthorized New Owner
I am relatively new to planning so any help you can provide me with would be much appreciated.

Hi,
Let me start by saying that I am not new to Hyperion Planning. We are experience a weird issue in our System Test. We notice that some (NOT ALL) of our webforms turn into readonly webforms; all the cells on the form at greyed out. This is inspite of the fact that the read-only checkbox is unchecked on the form as well as security is fine on all dimensions ; basically all the cells on the form are valid combinations.
Still the form become readonly and all the data in that form is wiped-out. this happened only for two web forms so far. We are running bunch of calcs(none of the calcs have cleardata command). we are not sure why is this happening. this might be some bug in the product... not sure. has anyone seen this behaviour before ?
please let me know.
pkPlease Ignore this question. This happened because someone in my team had added an member below a level 0 entity.

Add Access button issue in Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3
Add Access button in Assign Access window for dimensions in Planning is not working fine. After clicking Add Access button, window pops up after 15 min and groups are not being reflected there in groups tab. This didn't resolve with a restart etc.
If someone have any clue on this, Please help me.
Appreciate any response on this.
Hyperion Planning V11.1.1.3
OS Solaris 5.10 64bit on SPARCAre you planning servers load balanced?
Apply the patch upgrade and move to 11.1.1.3.02 , check and see if that resolves the issue .

Hyperion Planning Smart View issue with Member Names & Aliases
Hi,
Im using Smart View "Essbase" Connection to a Hyperion Planning Application, ver 11.1.1.3, however with the essbase connection i am not able to select at the smart view options to see aliases, members or both. I change the setting ( Duplicate member names allowed =true) directly at the properties of the outline in EAS, and now i am able to see the aliases, however if time I refresh using web planning/workspace this setting is undone. Furthermore i dont thing i should use it with planning. Any comments?
Kind RegardsFirst of all I hope you have not changed the properties of the outline in EAS for a planning application.
For more information on using aliases in smartview have a read of :- Smartview --- Display options --- to display alias names
Also you will only be able to view member name or aliases not both at the same time.
Cheers

Hyperion Planning Data form alias issue
Hi,
I am using Hyperion Planning version 11.1.2.2. I created data form and after member selection is over I selected alias in dimension properties. But when I am opened the data form I see member names but not alias. I want to see alias name in the data form instead of member name. Please give me solution to this?Hi
In the later releases you now as a user override the data form setting with your own personal user preferences.
Navigate to FIle->User Preferences and then Planning. In there within the display properties you will see an area for Alias settings. There is an option for member name/alias display. Make your selection there.
Thanks

Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.1.0 Dataform validation issue
Hi All,
Is there any way that if the validation fails the user should not be able to Save data in hyperion dataform.
I have a scenario like this :
I have budget in one row in dataform Flash in other and in the third I have a formula coloum Budget - Flash. The fourth coloum is Variance.
I want a validation that if Budget - Flash = Variance the user should be able to save the data in the dataform
and if Budget - Flash != Variance then the action of save button should be disabled. The user should not be able to save the data.
Can this condtion be achieved using Data form validation
Kindly Suggest want can be done...You could have a look at my friend Rahul's blog - Hyperion Planning and More...: Why My Data Form is Still Read Only...!!!
