I doubt that Oracle 7 DB is not supported. You may consider raising a SR with support.

    Hi,
    I have installed oracle 9i on solaris. I have started the enterprise manager using the command emca. Now it asks me to configure the same. I am not aware of the same.
    Could someone please tell me how to configure the same or point me to a pdf or article which the respective steps mentioned in details.
    Thanks,

    You can find basic information and some sample questions by following links from the main Oracle web site: www.oracle.com
    Robert Freeman wrote a New Features book for Oracle 9 that may be of interest. Then again reading the Concepts and DBA Admin manual plus peeking at the SQL manual for full syntax and options for covered features would likely be the best study path.

  • Solaris 10 configuration parameters for Oracle 10g

    Hello all,
    I have installed:
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0 - 64bit
    on the latest version of Solaris 10 SPARC. My /etc/project file looks as follows:
    user.oracle:101:Oracle:::process.max-sem-nsems=(privileged,256,deny);project.max-shm-ids=(privileged,256,deny);project.max-shm-memory=(privileged,17179869184,deny)
    I followed the installation guide for 10g and used the max-sem-nsems and max-shm-ids that were recommended. However, the guide was for a 4GB SGA and we are using a 8GB SGA on a machine with 32GB of memory.
    Now, my question is, do those nsem and shm-id parameters hold true for larger SGAs? We are having a problem that, when new oracle shadows are created, any processes that check the /proc table becomes painfully slow.

    As allways kernel parameter could be found in documentation: http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15667/pre_install.htm#sthref258
    Maybe you will be intersted in Werner Pushitz's article "Tuning and Optimizing Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Oracle 9i and 10g Databases" - http://www.puschitz.com/TuningLinuxForOracle.shtml
    SGA, PGA. If you are not sure with proper sizeing then you can read this document - http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14211/memory.htm#PFGRF014
    Note since 10g there is new feature called "Automatic Shared Memory Management"

    We recently applied a client and server patches to our db and workstations to move to Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.6.0. We are using the OCI driver thru the weblogic Jdriver for oracle. when we print the meta data after the client upgrade the version of the driver is still showing as old. If we put the oracle classes12.jar in the weblogic classpath the driver version is printed correctly from the meta data. Can some oone answer why this happens.
    Here is the out put with out the oracle classes12.jar in the class path:
    <b>============= Database Product Name is ... Oracle
    Database Product Version is Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.6.0 - Production With the Partitioning, OLAP and Oracle Data Mining options JServer Release 9.2.0.6.0 - Production
    ============= JDBC Driver Name is ........ Oracle JDBC driver
    JDBC Driver Version is ..... 9.2.0.3.0
    JDBC Driver Major Version is 9
    JDBC Driver Minor Version is 2</b>
    Driver version should show as 9.2.0.6.0 it is instead showing 9.2.0.3.0.
    Thanks For your Help.We ship a version of the oracle driver, which you will find in the server\lib directory, and
    unless you put a different version of the driver ahead of weblogic.jar, that's the version of
    the driver WLS will use. You can definitely install a later version of the oracle driver in that
    directory.

  • Configuring GZip for OracleAS Portal

    How do you configure gzip with OracleAS portal.

  • JDBC Connection Pool For Oracle 8.1 In Weblogic 6.1

    Hi,
    Can any of u help me by giving the code for configuring the oracle thin driver
    for oracle 8.1 in config.xml of weblogic 6.1.
    Thank You
    Ram

    Hi Ram,
    An example of the config.xml entry is:
    <JDBCConnectionPool CapacityIncrement="2"
    DriverName="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver" MaxCapacity="10"
    Name="thinPool"
    Properties="user=scott;password=tiger;dll=ocijdbc8;protocol=thin"
    Targets="myserver" TestConnectionsOnRelease="true"
    TestConnectionsOnReserve="true" TestTableName="dual" URL="jdbc:oracle:thin:@rwallace:1521:ORCL"/>
    I found this out by running the utils.dbping utility to get the correct driver/url
    details then creating the connection pool in the WLS console.
