Issue in font name

Hi,
Requirement
We are using Adobe acrobat x pro 10.1.1 licenced version,from our application,we have to fill data dynamically in to the text boxes.
We had set the text box font as "VectoraLTStd-Roman",we need to display the text with font name as “VectoraLTStd-Roman” (We need to display the same fonts which has been set in the template)

As this is a high priority issue,please suggest me how to display the same font which has been set in the template
Note:
We had installed the “VectoraLTStd-Roman” font in application server; after exporting the pdf, in the client browser, we are getting incorrect fonts.
Please check in the system where “VectoraLTStd-Roman” font is not installed
To check the font names,please copy the text from pdf and paste it on winword/wordpad.

I tested on a device here and see the same issue using 6.0.40.1. I would consider this a bug and open an issue with support so they can escalate and have it corrected. It appears to be device/os version specific as I don't see the issue on Android 2.3.4 but I do see it on Android 4.1.1 and Android 4.4.2.
I am also going to open an issue with Engineering on this as well.

Font name issue in Acrobat XI pro

Hi All
While checking the PDF font properties in Acrobat XI it only shows the font family name. Not the full name. In Acrobat X it was perfect. Kindly refer the image below marked in Red. The Actual font name is "Agenda Light Extra Condensed Italic", but the property box shows only Agenda and Italic is hi-lighted. The document font properties shows the correct name. Have any one experienced these kind of issues? Seeing the full font name is very important to me since I am in the position of QC process before print.
Your suggestions are most welcome.

What you are actually looking at is the text edit feature which is admittedly not all that robust in terms of how it provides access to fonts.
If you are trying to check the actual font usage for particular text, you should go to Output Preview and change the Preview mode from Separations to Object Inspector. Click on the text you wish to examine and this tools will show you exactly which font is being used to render the text with the full font name, point size, etc.

Adobe Acrobat Distiller Process. Issue with Font(L0420P not found, using courier)

Hi Everybody,
We are working for upgrade activities, which involves moving applications from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003 Servers.
My applications uses Adobe Acrobat distiller, which is also getting upgraded along with the server from Adobe 4.0 to 5.0 (Installed licensed Adobe distiller).
I have been using Adobe distiller to convert .PS files into .PDF files. The conversion process requires the PSFonts such as (MB006, L0B, L0420P etc..), each font got a separate PFB and PFM extension files, which are kept in the folder name called "Psfonts" and has been included in "Font location" under Distiller settings.
Using Distiller( Adobe Acrobat distiller 4.0 ) in Windows 2000 didn't create any issues or error while converting .PS files into .PDF files, all the PDF files are generated by Distiller as expected and process without any Font issues.
In Windows Server 2003, I installed Adobe Acrobat distiller 5.0 and moved the Font Folder "Psfonts" from older server(Windows 2000 server) to the new server(Windows 2003) and started Adobe Acrobat distiller process(5.0) to convert .PS to .PDF, most of the .PS files gets converted into .PDF files but when .PS files which require the Font L0420P comes in for Distilling, it displays an error message as "L0420P not found, using courier".
I checked with the old Server's (Windows 2000) font folder (Psfonts), it has the same files(PFB and PFM) as present in the new Server(Windows 2003).
I tried to check the Particular Font name(L0420P) in Distiller-->Setting-->Job options-->Font-->Embedding-->Psfonts, but L0420P font alone is missing in the List.
Could you please help in resolving this Font issue.

You may like to try deleting the PsFonts entry from distiller and closing it. Restart the machine, make the entry of PSFonts agina and try creating PDF.

Font names are invisible in Ai CS5 after upgrading to OSX 10.10 Yosemite

Hello,
I am having a minor drawback on Adobe Illustrator CS5 after upgrading my iMac to OS X 10.10 Yosemite. The thing is when trying to select a font form a Type>Font selection mostly all font names are invisible. This only happens in Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign works fine. I have attached a screenshot of what I am seeing: after hovering with my mouse pointer over the particular font the name appears, but otherwise not.
I will also address this issue to Apple support as well.

Font name different on another computer

We have a font that InDesign CS3 is seeing as a different name on just one of four computers. In other words, 3 computers see the name as "My TNTFont" but that one computer is seeing it as "My TNT Font."
This is a font we created so the name could have changed at some point since it was used on the troublesome computer. I tried deleting all those silly .lst files that Adobe puts all over the place but to no avail.
Is there some other place where a list of font is being kept or some other thing that InD is reading?

Well, I found a work around but, alas, Adobe has defeated/deflated me by hiding something, somewhere in which a font name is associated with a font FILEname.
I decided had to rename ANOTHER font and had the same issues. I was UNABLE to get InDesign to display the new font names (it was a family). I deleted every adobefnt*.lst file I could find as well as the c:\Windows\system32\FNTCACHE.DAT (hoping against hope) but to no avail. InDesign was still showing the old font names.
Wondering WHAT InD could be looking at, I renamed the font FILE and reloaded the new fonts, opened InDesign, used those fonts (which now showed the correct names!!!) and closed InDesgin. Loading the fonts from a different location did NOT do it, I had to rename the font file. After closing InD, unloading the renamed font files and reloading the original font files, InD saw the names as correct.
So, somewhere, somehow InD associates font names, with a font FILEnames.
Just rediculous.

I'm using Robohelp for Microsoft Word X5.0.1. For all of our
legacy apps, we have been generating our help file from Word
documents in the WinHelp 4 format. I am currently involved with a
long term project upgrading all of our legacy applications to
Visual Basic .Net 2005. VS2005 doesn't support the WinHelp 4 format
- it supports HTML Help (or CHM file format). I took the source
files we have been using to generate the WinHelp 4 document and
tried to generate a CHM file. However at the top of the first topic
in each document, several names of fonts get generated into the
text piece of the CHM file.
Has anyone experienced this? How can I go about getting past
this issue?

Fonts preview in English but Font name appears in Asian?

I have CC applications and all apps have the same issue. When I try to select a Font type the preview of many are in an Asian or South-West Asian language. However, if I select one the type appears in English. Since I am not fluent in whatever languages these fonts are previewing, makes it very difficult to get an idea what the will look like unless I enter type for every one.
I looked at the "AdobeFnt_CMaps.lst" and saw under "Ordering:Japan1". I don't know if this is a clue, but I would like to know how to sync an English preview to the English type.
The fonts I am using are Native Windows 7 and Native Adobe. I can pull-up the "Font panel" in Win 7 and, for instance, Adobe Devanagari appears to be in Devangari (if so a Language exists) but types in English. I realize the Font names certainly sound like an Asian or Mid-Eastern language, maybe, they are intended to not be an English font, if that is the case I would like to know so I can disable them.
1. Should the Cmaps be changed from :"Ordering:Japan1" to (Please enter correct answer here)?
2. Are these Fonts supposed to be the language in which they appear on the thumbnails and not and I should just delete them?
3. Is there some other fix?
4. Does anyone know where to get some free to low cost Web/Desktop Fonts?

Perhaps it's some sort of incompatibility with Quicktime, which is the foundation of the iLife apps.
A workaround might be to create your menu background in Photoshop, using your new font, and export a jpg version. You'll be able to drop this onto iDVD's background (not into a drop box) and it will replace the existing theme background.

Font Name "2s)zei" in Form

We have Oracle Forms where the objects have the font "2s)zei". (note: We were not the original developers of the application and we don't know why the font name is displayed like that. There is also no such font in our PCs.)
We need to determine what font was really used. How do we do this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why do you have a <sub> tag around each <label> tag's contents?

Removing that would help make the label contents larger, and it could be that this would be all you need.
With regard to the layout question, I'd like to see you fix these validation errors before tackling that. I feel it's wasted effort to try to troubleshoot layout issues on a page with invalid HTML....

How can I change font name on Mac to be compatible with PC?

Hi,
My font names on my new Macbook does not match with PC and my previous Macbook. For example, "CordiaUPC" on PC and my old Macbook is called "UPC-Cordia" on my new Macbook. So all my saved documents where font was set as "CordiaUPC" is now unreadable, and I have to reset the font to "UPC-Cordia" when I open it. The issue is, I am a writer and I have to submit my writing to people who use PC's. Then when they open my document, it appears like it cannot be read. It is super inconvenient.
Does anyone know how I can change the name of the fonts in the Font Book? I tried selecting like when I rename the files but it didn't work.

Are you using the same font file on Your Mac as the PC users are? Meaning, that the font file was copied/installed from a PC to your Mac's /Library/Fonts or ~/Library/Fonts folder or did you install the Mac version of the font on your Mac. You can try flushing the font cache for your Mac with a utility like Cocktail or Onyx to see if that resolves the naming problem.

How to change the background color of text in PDF based by font name. Is there any option in Javascript. e.g: If PDF containing ARIAL font, the ARIAL text background color needs to be changed in red color for all pages. Same for all fonts with different different color in the PDF.

Windows 8.1 will not issue a Domain Name Request.

I have a windows 8.1 system that will not issue a Domain Name Request to resolve a simple query such as www.microsoft.com. It works OK in my Windows 7 system on the same computer. I know this is happening because I run the Wireshark packet
trace on each system. Windows 7 issues the request; Windows 8 does not. I can flush the DNS cache with "ipconfig /flushdns, net stop dnscache, net start dnscache". When I try to do email, Thunderbird can't find the server; when
I try to browse the internet, the browser(Opera, Chrome, Mozilla) can't resolver the name. ipconfig /all looks normal. The Domain Name Server is hardwired (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4, or 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220). Any ideas?

If you ping the server with its IP address, could it work? If so, it should be your Windows 8.1 DNS components problem.
When this problem occures? If this problem just occures recently, it would be better to make system restore to revert your system to a former normal time point.
In not, firstly, try to reinstall NIC driver for test. Also check Event Viewer if it identify the problem.
As you said, you run Wireshark Packet. In my opinion, it would be better to run this tool to capture you network communication trace in Windows 8.1. This maybe could help you find the reason of the problem.
In addition, Network Monitor also a good choice to captuer network trace.

Okay, that does look good (without testing it). Does it do its job?
I think it can be made a bit more efficiently by not running over all text frames, but rather over all stories in the document -- a small change, the rest can stay the same.
You can also try turning the gathering of used data around. It appears you are now pushing every item immediately into your array, then weed out duplicates. (For my thoughts on the latter, see below!) It might be quicker and more memory-efficient to scan your present array to see if the new item is already in there, and only push when it's not. (Bonus points for a binary tree implementation -- the fastest possible way! But a linear search on the entire array, or on a sorted array and bailing out if you go "past" the current item, may be fast enough.)
(On Weeding out duplicates; you might want to skip this, as it won't be necessary for the above:)
Your function UniteSame sorts out and removes duplicates by comparing every item to every other one; then it sorts the array. An alternative can be to
1. Sort the array
2. Create a new empty one
3. Push an item of the original onto the new one.
4. Skip items of the original list while they are the same as the bottom one of the new list.
5. Until you run out of items.
