Issue in Installation of EBS R12 through VNCserver thrgh Putty
Hi Guys,
I know this may sound quite childish but still i wanna know If we are Installing EBS R12/11i by connecting the Linux box through putty OR by connecting through VNC server .
If we r connecting through putty do we 've to set the Display in this case.
Or if If we r connecting through VNC Server do we 've to set the Display variable.
My query is what is the Differences between using VNC server & putty in Installation of EBS r12/11i.
Today my Boss pointed out that i should install vnc server on windows for installing EBS rather than using putty as it required setting of Display variable.
which i couldn't quite understand. Hence the query !!

Really Appreciate if u could explain it a little bit more.To run Rapid Install you need to have the DISPLAY set properly to see RapidWiz, and this would work with VNC (not with putty). If you can set the DISPLAY is putty (issue xclock to verify) then you can use it (which I believe is not possible).

1) what's your R12 RUP version ?
2) As user 'MURTHY4' do not exist in FND_USERS, please do the following:
Enable Log Debug for E-Business Suite
Connected as System Administrator, modify the following system profiles:
FND: Debug Log Enabled Yes
FND: Debug Log Filename <empty>
FND: Debug Log Level STATEMENT
FND: Debug Log Mode Asynchronous with Cross-Tier Sequencing
FND: Debug Log Module % or fnd%
There is no need to stop and restart E-Business Suite.
All log information will be created in the table FND_LOG_MESSAGES.
Make sure nobody access the system or else it will put redundant entries in fnd_log_messages.
Truncate the table first using command:
truncate table applsys.fnd_log_messages; commit;
then perform the steps as described below
As soon as you finished reproducing the problem, run the following query :
select timestamp,module,message_text from fnd_log_messages order by log_sequence asc;
then save the O/P in an excel spread sheet and upload the RESULTS for review.
Revert the debug settings

I have seen posting about the installation of EBS R12/i11 saying it does not work with Windows Vista (64 bit). I went ahead and tried it anyway to see what kind of errors I get and to confirm if the errors I get are consistent with other people using Windows Vista. FYI, my installation went as far as 99% complete of step 2 of 5 before it errored out. I checked and noticed that many components of EBS have been installed with status equal zero which is good.
When I got the "TNS-12541: TNS: no listener", I went to Windows services, located the Oracle TNS service that was created by the EBS installation and tried to start it. Then I got this error: "error 1053 the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion". I googled the error message and the resolution is: "To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.". I have tried this but it does not work because my Windows Vista uses a higher version of .Net Framework 1.1. I have done more research but to no avail. However, it is fun as I learn many things about the EBS intallation and Windows Vista.
By the way, these are the steps when I run the rapidwiz on Windows Vista. Click on Start => Click on command prompt => right click on command Prompt => select run as administrator => CD to the path where the rapidwiz reside. Somehow if I use the regular command prompt the installation will die on step 1 of 5 even when I log in as administrator.
In your case you are using Windows 2k3. Make sure your OS is not 64 bit. Whenever you get an error and it does not say much, google it to see the resolution and make sure you read the Installation Guide. Hope this helps. -

If you mean to say if you can lay down R12 software (to upgrade from 11i) with an existing EBS database then the answer is Yes.

EBS R12 Installation on Windows XP
Hi All,
I have installed the EBS R12 Vision on the Windows XP and the installation went successful without any issues. But when i submit the Concurrent Programs, i get an Inactive - No Manager. I have started the OracleConcMgr process from the Windows services but still getting this error.
On the Administer Concurrent Managers, i could see like below:

Internal Manager 1 1 0 0
Standard Manager 0 3 0 20
ps -ef | grep -i FNDLIBR returns nothing
Could someone tell me the steps on how to make the Concurrent Manager active so that i could run the Concurrent Programs?

The last line says "Make sure that environment files (.cmd) do not have duplicate and/or extra entries". Could you let me know what are the environment files that i need to look and the directory path where i could find those files?

Remote Installation on Linux - EBS R12
Hi,
Is it possible to install EBS R12 remotely on linux? since I tried to start rapidwiz after installing all the prerequisites, but I didn't get rapidwiz screen instead I got a message saying that
Rapid Install Wizard is validating your file system......
>> Wizard requires the DISPLAY variable to be set.
>> Please set your DISPLAY variable and restart Rapid Install Wizard.
If I try to start, I am getting fatal error and saying X server is already running in the backend. I have also created the Stage Area properly in the same HDD itself.
Please lemme know the steps to run rapidwiz remotely

Oracle EBS R12 installation problem in Windows 2003
Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle EBS R12 on Windows 2003 R2. I have installed cygwin along with required packages and also Visual studio 2005 as specified in the prerequisites of installation document.
All the validations are successful before installation but I am facing error during installation in Step3 at about 53 percent. When i checked the log file, I found that some of the files required for installation are not found in my staging area. Now I want to run MD5sum on the Staged Files.
I had downloaded md5sum_windows.txt and also run this command :
md5sum --check md5sum_Windows.txt > md5sum_result.txt
In md5sum_result.txt, I am getting error for all files. Error message is as :
oraAppDB\Disk1\data\driver\Disk1.drv
: FAILED open or read
This is repeating for all files. But i can see that the files are present in My Staging area. Do i need to set some permission for this. Please help. Desperately want to install EBS as part of perparation for my planned certification.

For R12 (12.1.1) you need to download the following files:

To: Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 for Microsoft Windows (32-bit) Rapid Install APPL_TOP - Disk 2 (Part 2 of 2)
Is it possible that contents of the zip file are lost during download because my stage area is about 39 GB . and also I have verfied all the files in edelivery site is downloaded too.
Also the error i mentioned in my last post, I can see the file in the directory but still its showing read error. Is it due to corruption of data. That would mean that I will have to download all 40 GB again :-(It is easy to verify the contents of the stage area directory without running md5sum, so please do so and post the results here.

Journal Import Profile option is default (still no settings / default settings / not still tune).
Our Journal Import could not submit more than 4000 records.
When we try to import data more than 4000, there is an error SQL*Net message to client on OAM view log, and when I looking on LAB128 and OEM, the process stop mostly on gl.gl_je_lines, sometimes on gl.gl_je_headers.
I had already followed suggestion from metalink forum :
change DB : sqlnet.ora, listener.ora
add sqlnet.ora on Apps Server (EBS R12 Server)
But, now there is another issue, the error SQL*Net message to client not raise anymore, but when I see Journal Import OAM log, LAB128 and OEM, the sessions is inactive but the process looks like looping forever.
Need suggestion solution for this issue.
Any help is very appreciated and score. Thanks before.

My temporary suspect is on network issue between Apps Server and DB Server (Two-Tier) because with AutoBatch for FAH (Financial Accounting Hub), there is 5 Journal Import Processing on Request and only this one was error.
My team had raised this issue to SR two days ago, hopefully few hours again, we could see their answer.

Heterogeneous oracle EBS R12 installation
To install Heterogeneous oracle EBS R12 ( database is in linux and oracle EBS is on Solaris), we don't know how to proceed. Please clarify it.
1) Do you have Heterogeneous oracle EBS R12 binaries to install ?
2) Please guide to install Heterogeneous oracle EBS R12

Database version : 10.2.0.4 on linux 5 64 bit .

You cannot install Oracle E-Business Suite 11i/R12 without installing all pre-req. OS software. To get these software packages, you need to contact the vendors (the links are referenced in the document below).

I am a not a newbie and i am trying to do a vision installation of Oracle EBS R12 on my laptop.
I have downloaded Oracle Enterprise Linux release 6 update 3 media pack from edelivery.com and installed Oracle Linux on Vmware workstaion.
Now i want to know what all patches, packages and RPM's are required as a pre-requisite before proceeding with installation of R12.
How to check whether they are already present and how to install them.
I have referred to oracle notes but confused in which points to follow and which to skip.
Please guide.
