Issue in process chain with DTP after imported to production

Hi,
we have a issue with process chain.
after transportation DTP technical name is differ in prod and dev. process chain is went inactive.
i have read some related threads, i'm not find any suitable solution for this.
we don't have access to change process chain(they are not willing to open prod system)
could you please provide solution on this issue .

Hi,
I have observed the behavior of changing technical name for DTP but still I think your process chain should not become inactive due to this. I think process chain somehow adjust the new technical name but anyways you should be able to change the DTP in process chain directly in production system.
If that is not possible you can just try re-transporting it.

HI Neelesh,
There are many ways to optimize performance of the process chains (background jobs) in APO system.
Firstly I would recommend you to identify the pain areas (steps) which are completing with more runtimes. Then each one of the step has got different approaches to decrease the runtime.
Like you may end up with steps like infopackage executions, DTPs, DP mass processing jobs etc which might be running with more runtimes. So now target each one of them differently and find out the ways to optimize. At the same time the approach you follow should be technically possible with basis perspective (system load and utilization) as well.
And coming to parallel processing, you can use parallel processing for different for different jobs. You can further r explore on the same using parallel processing. Like loading an infocube, mass processing, infopackage execution, DTP, TSCOPY etc.

Process chain with ABAP reports included

Hello !
I need help regardin an issue.
I have a process chain with the processes:
1) Start
2) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a wait instruction
3) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a system message , based on a first variant of the report
4) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a wait instruction
5) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a system message , based on a second variant of the report
6) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a wait instruction
7) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a system message , based on a third variant of the report
report that has a system message : has 3 variants
The reports work each individual, but in the chain , when I execute, I must see some system messages and there is nothing
I assigned for the processes the right reports, including the variants for the processes 3, 5, 7.
Do you have some clue? I can't imagine why they don't work in this process chain.

In RSPC transaction -
create your process chain
To include ABAP program --- expand General Services --- Select ABAP program -
drag and drop it in right panel
Create process variant -
provide program name and program variant(if exists)

Copy process Chain with Meta chain

Hi experts,
how to copy the process chain with Meta chain, since the process chain which I planing to copy it hold meta chain and also local chain, I coping for change the technical name for the PC, is it possible to copy meta chain and local chain along with PC?
and plz breif me about meta chain and local chain why we have to use them and where we have to use them?
plz explain with scenario.

Hi,
Once after the copy of the chains you need to change the start variant with the new one as the same start process can not be used in two process chains at the same time.
So Once after changing the start process for your MC and LC then you are good to go ahead to trigger the same.
If you trigger the MC then it will take care of trigerring the LC automatically.
In terms of changes in the process chain, you can get the last changed details in the log view but you can track the timestamp of changes from the process chain tables like (RSPC* and then press F4). But you can not track which process has been changed in this.

BI Process Chain - Error DTP

Hi Friends
I have a Question regarding executing error DTP.
We are going live next month. In a metachain we are loading 3 master data process chains and one transaction data process chain and the meta chain is a daily load.
There are duplicate records in the error stack which ended the process chain with errors and also failed the next day load as the duplicate records in the error stack were not fixed. And its a daily master data load triggered in one of the process chain.
I had fixed the records in error stack and enabled handle duplicate records setting in error DTP and tried to save it.
It prompted a message
     "Note, for time-dependent data the source field
      containing DATETO information must not be selected
      in the semantic DTP key."
[do i need to change the handle duplicate record setting for the main DTP also?] I need to execute this error DTP and it should execute the remaining pending/cancelled processes in that process chain.
It should not trigger further loads of the process chains following this process chain even if I manually execute the error DTP. Because the following process chains were successful as there were no dependencies between the process chains.
even though i guess sometimes it happens that it triggers further loads in the process chains for some reason which are not dependent.

This is an information message. Go ahead and enable the duplicate key handling flag and then execute the error DTP.
That should load the data successfully.

Transportation of process chains with ABAP variants

Hi,
Could you please help me in finding out how to transport process chains with ABAP variants.
I can transport them, however when transporting them, I overwrite the already existing variants, which is very unfortunate...

Option 1:
You can directly create the process chain in Production. Most of the times ppl do have access to create a process chain in Prod. Kindly check whether you have the authorization to do so.
Option 2:-
I did not suggest to delete the old info-packages in QA and Prod. Let them continue to exist but you may not use them once the process chain is in place. You create the process chain, test it and move it up to Prod. I dont' think the new infopackages will hamper your delta load. The delta is not dependent on the infopackage.
If I were you, I would try the second option and if it does not work during testing then go for the first option.

Using Planning Sequence in a Process Chain With input variants

Hi,
I have a COPY planning function which has multiple FROM and TO options like (From:Fiscal Year To Fiscal Year, From Version TO Version). In the layout they select the options for which they want to COPY and execute the function.
How can I replicate the same approach in a process chain with the varaints, how can i create the FROM and TO variables in the process chain.

Hi.
You can save variable variant for planning sequence in modeler and then use it in process chain.
In process chain you choose "Execute planning sequence" and add planning sequence with variant.
All this if you using IP instead BPS.

Trigger a program in ECC from BI using a process chain with out Program

How can we trigger a program which is in ECC system from BI using a process chain with out writing any program.
is it possible? if yes how can we achieve this.

Not possible, indeed need event or Remote Function Call using an ABAP program.
Other option would be to use a 3rd party tool like Control-M to run programs/jobs on whatever system in your landscape (but requires investments of course).

Process Chain running even after end date

Hi,
We are scheduling month end PC to run every 2 hours and also we have given end date for today evening.but process chain runs even after end date for every 2 hours.so we have to manually remove it from scheduling.
Any method how can PC stop on its own after end date .

There might be multiple release jobs for thie process chain.
So check the same. Right click on process chain --> Display scheduled jobs --> Here all the jobs logs of the chain will be available.. So check the same here...
As you have descheduled it now.. probably you may not be having it as the first release job might be moved to Schedule status as soon as the END date has reached and then second one might have gone when you have removed the chain from Schduling..
Anyway check the same.. and also check in SM37 whether any other user has triggered it manually today or not?

Process chain with attributes

Hi Experts,
i built a process chain with 4 Masterdata.
I beginn with start and for each master data, i set up an infopackage and at the end , i created an Attribute with the 4 Masterdata als Infojects.
1. When i save, the order changed.
All the masterdata could not be upload.
How can i built a better process chain with Attibutes?

DTp issue in process chain

HI guys,
I have an issue with DTP in process chain.
Actually we have a process cahin in quality as well as in development and production,the structure of chain in production and development is same but the structure in quality is not matching.we are getting 1 additional DTP in the chain in quality system .when we run the chain it get fail at the additional DTP,and the process cahin get stopped.
now iam not able to find out wher from this additional DTP came and how to find out wher exactly it is from and how to restart the chain.
can anybody help me out?Its very urgent for me.

Hi,
I have asked u to deschedule the process chain and then Check the Process chain using the Check View..
I think that this is a dummy process which has got added when u have done the transport.
Check if u can see the error DTP when u check.. then u can delete this DTP as this is a Dummy one.. and then link the processes if the link breaks bcz of this... and then check the PC again, and activate the same..
Finally u can use PC after this..

Issues in Process chain after Transporting to Q

Hi All
I have couple of issues with my process chain (in Q). We have recently upgraded from BW3.5 to BI7.0. After upgrade i have a change made to one of my Process chain. i have transported it successfully to Q system. I have collected all the related objects associated with the change in the transport. But when try to see the changes changes in the process chain in Q system i have the following issues.
1. i do not see my changes in display mode. But i am able to see all the changes if i go to change mode (this looks weird and i dont know why)
2. i am unable to schdule the process chain in Q system as i was able to do earlier. Now it is asking for Transport when i try to schedule the process chain. this was not the case earlier.
3. In the transport i also collected a newly created infopackage and added it to the Process chain. But i do not see any link between the infopackage and the process chain (it was supposed to have a link as it had in DEV), i mean when i go to infopackage it used to give me a mesage saying the infopackage is already available in Process chain which i got in DEV.
All the above cases were working per normal in DEV systems tested and were collected as required in the transports and moved to Q
Please let me know ASAP if any of you have encountered similar problems before and have solutions. i saw couple of related threads (some suggested to directly activate the process chain in Q system by opening the Q systems as an alternate) but could not find a solution

1. Display mode shows only the active version of Process chain. When you go into change mode, it displays the inactive version (if any available). Make sure you activate the process chain in the change mode. Then the chain you see in display and change mode will be in sync.
2. When you try to schedule, the Process chain will be activated as well. If your Q system is prompting for transport then probably the system is open for changes. If you want to modify process chains in Q and P systems, make appropriate Object Changeability settings in Transport connection in Q and P systems and make sure the system is closed for changes (SCC4).
3. Use Transport connection to collect the objects required for Process chain. After transport, check the transport log and make sure all the objects are imported successfully.

Problem in activating Process chain in Quality after transport

Hi All,
We have moved a set of process chain to Quality system.
When tried to activate the Process chain it is showing error in DTP.
The DTP name is same as in the Dev system.
So, we tried moving the DTP alone in another transport request.
Still the error exists. We also tried moving the process chain again.
We had tried importing only the structure and also the entire flow again.
Nothing worked.
Please suggest some solution.

I have checked the Object Changeablity now in Dev system, I found it like Not changable for DTPA.
The DTP from DSO to Cube is fine, but we have problem with the DTP from DataSource to DSO.
Also, in the dev system when i clicked on Object Changeablity I get a popup like "System can be changed; settings not necessary".
Please suggest me like what must be done.

We imported the Process Chain along with the DTP first and we faced the problem.
So we imported the DTP alone again, but still we had the problem.
Again we imported the Process Chain after importing the DTPs.
So what i feel is DTPs must be there in the Quality, but why we have the problem persisting.
That too only for DTP from Data Source to DSO but not for the DTP from DSO to Cube.

Scheduling of process chain with background job

Hello All,
I have scheduled the process chains through background jobs. I have copied the meta chain and created seven background jobs that is from Monday till sunday. The problem is most frequently the job gets cancelled with the message
Process CHAIN, variant PAA1_GS001 is not scheduled waiting for event RSPROCESS 44NRPDWZ7CQUJ92ATDTY6368H.
This is the variant for the next process after the start process. I tried by giving merge active versions, but one day the background job runs fine , but the next day it gets cancelled.
If anyone has faced this issue before kindly let me know.

It seems to be there may be in probelm in Varients, so create a separate Varient for each PC and then activate the PC and execute.

Small issue in Process Chain

I have small problem in Process chain.
1)Start
2)Load :
3)activate : Always
when i ran my PC ,due to some problem my Load Process type got fail.
But after that i have actiavte Process type(PT) which should run whether Load PT is in success or fails .
But it got stuck due to message "Status Change of Process LOADING ZPAK_EFAJ6WFZPJPA7MWVSZXETN4PE.
Save Status and Trigger Events if Appropriate"
with two option yes and no.
when i click on yes then only it goes .
But if i would run and nobody around then i would gets stuck at that point only .
Is there any solution for that !!

But I have given an example. Why that message box comes.
Cant we suppress automatically?
Suppose had I been have a process type which send a mails after load status whether it fails or success at that point this could be an issue ??.
So if it would be stuck like this then it could not send a mail.
