Issue in SNP optimzer

Hi,
Our scenario is the product P getting manufactured at locations X and Y. Now same demand present on both the locations and we want to identify where to produce how much using optimizer.
Im currently exploring optimizer and trying to build up the solution using docs available on net. I want to give priority to production cost , then transportation cost and then storage cost.
can u pls give detail stpes for building up same in system. Also currently im stuck in creating PPM. is it prerequsite for running optimizer..where to set production cost at location level and how.

Hi,
As suggested by you i've correct demand and i've put demand for product (P) on distribution centre (D) which is connected to two manufacturing locations ( M1 and M2) producing product P.
Before running optimizer i've made following settings,
1) Transport cost i've kept same for product P from M1 to D and M2 to D
2) I've kept production cost higher at M1 in PPM ; PPM is added to active model.
But when im running optimizer in interactive planning for entire network the cost is coming zero. There is no transportation as well as production cost. No SNP planned order created for any manufacturing location.
Can you pls guide in case im missing any seetings or check points. I've hecked log and demand, transportation lanes, PPM , location product getting read.

its seems no optimzer server for SNP and PPDS was not installed , i try to run test connection to optimzer server

1) Once you show them the error, they fully understand
what is the action to be done for that error
2) You can also tell them to check the RFC connections
3) Tell them to check the Optimiser installation is proper or not like
4) Ask them to use transactions /sapapo/opt12, opt03 if required
This will suffice.

Manual Lot Size issue in SNP

Hi Gurus,
I have an issue while creating planned orders manually in the planning book as it is not splitting into the lot size which was maintained in the product master.
Some details on the issue:
I have a product X and I maintained '4000' as the fixed lot size in product master. When I enter 20000 it should spilt it into 5 batches and which is not happenning and it is placing the entire thing as one bulk order of '20000'.
(If I run heuristics, it is splitting basing on the lot size maintained).
It was working correctly for 1 product and for many of the products it is not working. All the parameters for the products are same and there is no difference.
For the product which was working correctly for one user and for the same product if I try it is not working.
I probed more into the issue to see if any parameters were added in his profile, there is one custom parameter which is assigned which splits the planned orders basing on the lot size maintained. I even assigned that profile, it worked once and later it is not working.
The strange thing is for one user it works and for other users it doesn't even work for the same product.
Note: We recently moved from SCM 4.0 to SCM 5.1.
Did any one faced such kind of issues before? Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

Hi Murali,
I am surprised to read the issue. I will never expect manual planned order to get split. The lot size settings are applicable only for automated planning i.e. heuristic (MRP in R/3)
If you have indeed observed that the system splits the orders by lot size, I have nothing to comment. (probably that is why you did not get a reply for almost a day.
If you have found some settings and find that they do not work, please raise a message to SAP for the same.
I do not think system should split the manual planned order.

Issue with the SNP Extractor in APO-BI.

Hi Experts,
I am facing an issue with SNP Extractor. I have a SNP Extractor in APO system, and it has 4 datasources connected to it.Out of the 4 datasources, we are getting display of records for relevant selections in only one data source, but for the other three data sources, given what ever be the selections, it gives a message saying " 0 records available ".
Please could you suggest, what can be the issue and also indicate a solution to resolve it. Do we need to apply any SAP Note to resolve the issue?? And where can we see the Current Support Package that is installed in the system??

you can see the Current Support Package in this way:
Log on in your BW system --> System --> Status --> Component Information (hand lens) -->
near the SAP_BW software component and release, there is the level (for example 0006).

User are getting kicked out of SNP planning book

Hi Ramesh,
As far as I know, users should not get kicked out unless someone terminates their session.
Even if they lock some data and the same data is needed by some job, it's the job that would fail showing data lock. Similarly, if some other uses tries to access the locked data, the user who is accessing later would face the issue of not being able to go to edit mode.
It's possible to write programs that could specifically do this work of kicking out users before we run batch jobs, but let me assume that this is not the case with you.
One possibility is that there is issue in livecache and so users are not able to access livecache or get kicked out from their active session (e.g. your log area gets full, then users would soon get kicked out after seeing the system hanging initially). This you would need to check at the time when users face issue. This would also mean that other processes that need livecache should also fail e.g. GATP, or SNP planning or PPDS planning related jobs would fail at the same time.
If you could share exactly what error message the users are seeing, that could be helpful in resolving the issue.

SNP Planned Order:
1 . SNP Planned Orders wil give details about Order start date and finish date .
2. During SNP Planned Order creation a basic scheduling will happen.
PPDS Planned Order
1. PPDS Planned Orders will give details about when the actual production is start and finish.
2. During PPDS Planned creation the Machine time details defined in the routing routing or recepie will be take into account.
3. Leadtime scheduling will be carried out to calculate the exact production start date and finish date.

Read data from SNP planning book

Hi Frnds,
We are faced with a situation in which we need to read certain key figures such as PIR's, Goods Issue from SNP Planning book.
We tried using BAPI "BAPI_PBSRVAPS_GETDETAIL" to retreive data. But it seems that we are giving wrong input data to the BAPI. Could you please let us know what to be fed into the BAPI in simple terms? If there is any example code for the same , would be very much appreciable.
Orelse if there is some other way to retreive this data kindly suggest us accordingly...

Hi Karthick,
The parameters for calling BAPI_PBSRVAPS_GETDETAIL really depends on your Planning Area and Planning Book configurations. The planning book configuration will limit what Characteristics and Key Figures will you be able to read using BAPI_PBSRVAPS_GETDETAIL. Let me give you an example.
Assumptions: The planning book is configured as follows:
Name = ZPB1
Data view = DV1
The DV1 data view contains the characteristics 9AMATNR and ZCNTRY and Key Figures ZKF1 and ZKF2.
Assuming also that we have the following data currently in livecache:
9AMATNR-ZCNTRY-ZKF1-ZKF2
000001234-PH       - 143 - 567
000007891-PH       - 245 - 782
000007891-US       - 124 - 890
Let's further assume that you want the data aggregated to country level (e.g. char ZCNTRY), you have 1 planning version 'ZPAV1' and you only want the data for Country=PH, then here are the parameters that you need to pass to BAPI_PBSRVAPS_GETDETAIL:
PLANNINGBOOK = 'ZPB1'
DATA_VIEW = 'DV1'
SELECTION = 9AVERSION I EQ ZPAV1, ZCNTRY I EQ 'PH'
GROUP_BY = 'ZCNTRY'
KEY_FIGURE_SELECTION = ZKF1, ZKF2

Data available in RRP3 view but not coming in SNP planning book

Hi All,
I am facing an issue in SNP book. I can see forecasts in RRP3 view. But when I load the same data in SNP planning book, the forecasts are not coming there (forecast KF)
I ran LC Cons check, PA cons check, OM17, but still the same result.
Any pointer would be highly valuable.

If you look at the standard Forecast KF 9ADFCST in your planning area, it is usually assigned the Category Group of DF1. This category group only contains the category FA for forecast. If you create Forecast in /SAPAPO/RRP3, this will create Additional Forecast or category group FC. Therefore any forecast generated this way will not appear against the standard planning book KF.
So you have two choices, if your forecast is only FC category then use the KF 9AAFCST Forecast (Addittional) in your data view or create a new Category Group with both FA and FC assigned to it and then assign this Categotry Group to 9ADFCST in your planning area.

SNP optimiser selection and customization

Dear Experts ,
Optimzation of demand with differnt storage location
I in a phase of configuring SNP optimzer
I have
Planning Plant - 1
Supply Plant - 6 which is nothing but a storage location in R/3
The Requirement is when there is a demand in the planning plant
for Instance 100 Tons (PIR FROM DEMAND PLANNING ) MUST BE OPTIMIZED TO
SIX LOCATION (APO) on the basis of capacity, cost of production and distance from supply plant
so is there any standard optimzer for this requirement , or i need to customize
and please guide me is there any sap document for configuring optimizer and how to use optimzer in SNP and PPDs

SNP PPM Generation error

Hi ,
I am facing an issue in SNP PPM generation from PPDS PPM and getting an error as /SAPAPO/PPM_GENERATE124-u2018Start date of the generation period is in the pastu2019.
I tried changing dates in field u2018Start of Gen. Periodu2019 to future in /SAPAPO/PPM_CONV_310 std TCode but still this error remains.

Product variant constraint in SNP optimizer run

Dear All,
I have a business scenario where I require a constraint on the number of FG variants produced per day. A number of FG SKUs come under a particular variant. On any day the factory is able to produce only a fixed number of variants (say 5). I am looking for a way to map this constraint in optimizer run.

% Remaining SL Field in the APO product master

Hi All,
Any body have used the field % Remaining SL field maintained in the product master. Does CTM or SNP Optimzer does consider this?
What is the significance of the field?
We have distribution center DC1 and plant PL1
We have two minimum shelf life requirements for given product X e.g. Minimum Shelf life guarantee of 30 days for X at PL1 and Inter-company minimum shelf life of 45 days between DC1 and PL1.
How can we design solution for this where for the stock transfer requisitions from DC1 to PL1 we want to use Inter-company minimum shelf life and Minimum Shelf life guarantee for sales order at the PL1. I am just thinking % Remaining SL (where I can define Ingtercompany Shelf life) is the one which helps me meet this inter-company shelf life, but it seems to be not working. May be I am not sure how do define and use it.
Please share your thoughts, experience and ideas on addressing these two minimum shelf life requirements.

Try MAT_SET()
MAT_SET ( field name ; field_value' ; <'product'> ; '<version>' ) sets the value of the specified field in the product master record for the specified product in the specified version. The arguments for product and version are optional. If you do not specify an argument for the product, the system uses the currently planned product. However, it is better for performance reasons to use the function ACT_PRODUCT.
MAT_EXTRA_SET() i think sets the fields in the extras tab

Factors influencing creation of a planned order

Hi,
What are the factors that lead to creation of a planned order during a Heuristic run?
When does a system decides to create a planned order? at what stock level? and how is the planned order qty. decided?
I have a material in a location that has planned orders generated.
I am trying to understand why the system created this order?
There is no safety stock, safety days supply or target days supply or rounding profile defined in Product master in Lot size tab.
Lot sizing procedure is by period (Days) - number of periods = 1
Lot size strategy blank
When I look at the product view,
the requirements pileup with category SNP:DepDmd and after some days, a planned order is generated for some qty.
I am trying to understand when the system determines to create a planned orders? What is the upper limit of the demand when the system generates a Planned order?
In the system, some times the planned order is generated when the stock is at 2,484.567 PCs some times 13.645 PCs.

Planned Order creation is based on a MRP calculations (net requirements planning) and ofcourse APO takes into account various factors such as min or max lotsizes, time-phasing requirements, calendars or safety stock requirements etc.
Keeping aside the safety stock complexity in your situation, some of the reasons why a planned order could be created even with lots of stock in hand could be:
1. Check projected stock on hand may be going down under 0 if the planned order were not created on time
2. There would be a window of time for planned order creation due to production and other calendars that if lost would force projected stock in hand below 0
3. the stock in hand is blocked stock not useful for planning
4. Issues with SNP planning book configuration where key figures are not mapped correctly to ATP categories. Makes sense to double check in Product View
5. Due to min lot size being high, it might appear that system is over planning production.

Date Problem in Scheduling Agreement Creation

Hi,
When I create a scheduling agreement (Category : HG) say 31st bucket it automatically gets shifted to next bucket ( Weekly Bucket) Creating the scheduling agreement within the planned delivery time. Pls let me know the reason for this.

There was a code issue for SNP Purchase Reqs which is corrected by notes 989857, 1045636 ad 1045891.
Also note that the normal process for Procurement Proposal creation is a Backward and then Forward Scheduling. Due to varying calendars (receving and shipping) at the locations the results of Backward and then Forward Scheduling can give differences. However it should not create the receipts late (as is your case).
