Issue in Workbook

Hello Friends,
We have a workbook with 3 queries on different tabs.
On one tab, we have a analysis grid for Company Code with display properties as 'Default Text'.
When we change the properties of this Company Code to 'Short Text' and when we save and refresh the workbook, we get the properties back to original i.e 'Default Text'.
We need to change this property to 'Short Text'. Can you please suggest how we can change this property?

Change it directly in the QUERY DESIGNER..Just go to DISPLAY PROPERTY..

Issue accessing workbook from user menu.

Hi,
We are facing an issue in opening the workbook from the User menu.
Workbook is working fine if we open it directly from BEx Analyzer but its not opening the workbook report when we click it from the user menu link.
This issue started coming when we upgraded the microsoft excel from 2003 to 2007.
Any information related to it would be helpful.

We have had several issues similar running SAP BW 7.0 with BEx 3.5 workbooks after upgrading to Excel 2007. There are several SAP Notes concerning various Excel 2007 related errors. Most of these seem to be bundled in the just-released SAP BEx 3.5 Add-On Patch 7 for SAPGUI 710, so my advice would be to download this patch if you have not done so already.

Security Issues with workbook

Hello All,
When I log into discoverer with some responsiblity "a" i am able to see the output of the particular workbook.
But when the same work book ran by other user with differnet responsbility "b" and with with same parameters , he is geting the message as "'The query caused no data to be returned" .
There seems to be some security issues. Can any one kindly explain the process why the user is not able to view the output. In order to overcome this what are the actions i need to do.

I assume that you are using Oracle Applications and that the user is connecting with a different apps responsibility.
In Discoverer, security can be applied at 4 levels; in the workbook, in the EUL, in views and using VPD. Application 11i security is mostly applied through views.
Now, the security applied depends on the Apps module. GL, AP/AR, PO and FA all have different mechanisms for applying security. Mostly the security applied will be determined by security profiles set up for the responsibilities. But for example, GL, also uses row based (procedural) security based on the flexfield security rules in some of the GL views. If you are using a custom responsibility you will need to ensure that all the security profiles are set up for this responsibility.
So your first step is to look at what view(s) are used in the report. Then determine which security profiles are checked by this view. So if it is a GL view you need to check the 'GL Set of Books Name' profile is defined for that responsibility.
Without knowing which modules you are using, which version of Oracle Applications or whether you have custom or seeded responsibilities it is difficult to know why your report does not return data for the responsibility.

Having issues with workbook and sharing

Ive used excel for my scheduling for over 10 years or so and sharing it so everyone in the office has access. Since we switched to the new office, now it changes the fonts, colors, size every time you open it. Tied to set a default them but
didnt work, its driving me nuts having to change 100 cells or lines every time i open it. Any ideas? Thank you!

Do you mind telling us what is the previous and new version of Office? From Excel 2003 upgrade to Excel 2007 or later version?
If it is, the issue may be caused by the file format, we should make sure that the workbook is being saved in native Excel 2007/2010 format. If you are saving it in the older Excel 97-2003 format, then it is possible that the losses you are seeing are
due to the formatting not being supported in the older format.
Then, we may try the workaround: Transfer your data from the current workbook to a new workbook and then see if the problem occurs in the new one.

Issue in workbook execution in SAP BI

Hi ,
We have an issue where a user when clicks on a specific workbook ( under favourites in User Menu ) , he gets the error that " You are not authorized to use transaction LAST_SHORTDUMP ". The SU53 shows the access missing for TCODE LAST_SHORTDUMP .
The user is though able to execute the original query directly.
Can someone please throw some light on the issue as it doesn't seem to be an issue with user's authorization.

Hi,
it seems like that query dumps and system tries to display a short dump using transaction LAST_SHORTDUMP. So you can use ST22 to check why that query fails. Check also notes 1435926 and 1523222.

Issue with Workbook Broadcasting

Hi Guys,
I am trying to broadcast one workbook.
I am able to send it through mail.
But when I am opening the mail attachment the workbook is not showing any value,only the message
"There are variables,change variable values" is coming.We are on support pack 18 BI7.
Please help me on this.

Since you say you are on SP 18 for 7.0 this error should normally not occur any more, can you check
that the manual parts of following notes have been implemented complety in your system:
Notes 1074272, 1072913 and 1082617
If the problem still exists please make sure that you have the latest patch for the BI FrontEnd & Precalculation Server
installed on your system.

Naviational area issue in Workbook

Hi Gurus,
I added a characteristic ZMAT_TYPE in the query in free characteristic area in BEx. But when I ran the workbook , I found ZMAT_TYPE is not in the navigational area, it is in line A22. I need to change ZMAT_TYPE position to line A16(that is navigational area) in the workbook. Please advice how to do this ?.

which version are you on?
if you're on 7.0, go to design mode and change the "range" on the first tab of the object
if you're on 3.X, the previous suggestion should work

Issue with workbook template

Dear friends,
I would like to create an excel workbook template having two tabs on it. Sheet-1 for result area and Sheet-2 to show navigational attributes and text elements. Is this feasible? If feasible, can anyone of you guide me on it?.
I created a template like this but when we attach a different query (which is not used for formatting)to this template, all data (result area and text elements) shows on the same sheet (sheet 1). I guess, am doing some mistake here while creating the template. If question is not clear, let me know.

Thanks Elena,
I did the same thing and stored it as template. However, if I use this as template when I run for query, the alignment is not proper. Some columns/rows are exists from the results of template query.
Could you help me?. Do I need to write any Excel macro?.

Issue not to show all Workbooks during FIND in BEx

When user tries to FIND with * in production he is able to see other's workbooks.
How do we restrict the Find or disable the FIND in BEx for workbooks.

Hello Sai,
If the user saves the workbook in "Favorites", then any other user will not be able to view the workbook.
Other users can view the workbook only if the user saves the workbook in a common Role shared by them.

BEx workbooks - Issue with FIND in BEx

We have an issue with workbooks.
When user tries to FIND with * in BEx in BW production he is able to see other's workbooks.
How do we restrict the Find or disable the FIND in BEx for workbooks.

It is not possible to restrict this workbook search...or disable it...
your user should however only have access to the workbooks that your have assigned to him via the roles mechanism. It is via
this roles mechanism that you can prevent a user from accessing other users workbooks.

BroadCasting distribution issue in BW 3.5 version

Hi Gurus,
               We have issues with workbooks Broadcasting using Precalculation Server. We have few workbooks which are not going to Inbox through precalculation server. I can see them in SOST in BW (3.5 version) after workbook refresh using Precalculation Server as send status. But some of them are going to Email. I didnt understand the difference between them....
              I tested with my emailID as well, the problem with workbooks are not coming into my inbox again they are in SOST after refresh. where as others are coming. I checked few tables start with RSRD*.
             We are sending this workbooks since from last four months and we never had any problems.
             Please help me if any one have this issue before.

                    Appreciate for your quick response. As far I know nothing wrong with Precalculation server, because when I run workbook refresh it is process which I can see. After refresh it is sending mail back to BW Server where I can see in SOST send status.
                   Still it is showing as send status but cant see in Inbox. I tried for other workbooks which are working and I am receiving mail.
                   Please any suggestions to fix this issue...

Authorization Issue when Broadcasting a Web Template

Hello All,
we want to broadcast a WebTemplate as an Online Link.
The User can Broadcast Queries and so on without issues.
But when they try to send a WebTemplate, they get an Authorization Error RSRD 003.
"You do not have authorization to display the requested object (for example, Web template, query....). Thats why it is also not possible to load broadcast settings into the broadcaster for the object."
It is not clear for me as the users are not allowed to schedule broadcast settings, but they can send ad hoc.
So what can I do?

Please try this for this issue.
Authorization error: Notification Number RSRD 003
If your issue is workbook based and you run..
TX: rsrt2

and get an authorization error: Notification Number RSRD 003
Then you do not have the correct role assigned to your test user to see this workbook
if this is the case proceed as follows:
in tx: se37
function module..... RSBB_WORKBOOK_AGR_GET
select the test icon
enter your workbook id in the field: wkbid
execute
double click on the entry
result= the missing role
The missing role is the one that you need to assign to your test user to be able to proceed.

BEx Get Data Issue

Hi everyone,
The basic issue is workbook is not retrieving the data back from the cube.we want to know how to check like why it is not retrieving data .
Is their any settings for this in back end, how to check and any procedure to find out?
There are two formulas here BEx Get Data and BEx Set Data.
BEx Set Data is used to push the data into the cube from workbook.
Bex Get Data is for getting the data from cube into workbook.
so when users enter some values ,it is going into the real time cube in the backend but next time when user cums into the workbook he is not finding the last inputted data.it is supposed to go to the cube and then *** to workbook again because next time when user enters the workbook he should see last inputted data.when he enters some values in cube and saving it ,it is going into the cube but it is not coming back to workbook again.
Can anyone throw some light on how should I proceesd and find where the issue is. I want to know the Flow from Workbook using BEx Get Data , how does this formula interact with BI REal Time Cube.

Are you trying to write data back into cube through input ready Query? Are you using Web or BEx analyzer?

Queries in workbook switched to non input ready automatically

Hi,
For some reason in a workbook (maybe locking issue or workbook change), the queries in the workbook become not input ready. To fix the problem, we need to go in each query and select the Option "Allow entries of planned values".
Would anybody have some idea about to fix the issue?

I rem I had the same issue . I dont have access to IP currently , however in the properties of the analysis item for the data provider there should be an option called "Always open in input mode".Once I checked that the planning query always opened in input mode.
Also on the planning query there should be an option as well.

Information Broadcasting - precalculated workbook is empty

Hi,
we are facing the issue, that workbooks which are being distributed via Information Bradcasting (Business Explorer -> Tools -> Distribute Workbook) are being distributed, but without any results (so only the workbook template) even we have maintained the input values variant. we do also have a running Precalculation Server (checked via transaction RSPRECADMIN).
Can somebody help?

Make sure you've downloaded and installed latest version of Precalculation Service (BWAPSERV12_0-10002960). When installing, make sure you have full admin rights.
