Issue installing Dreamweaver Cs4 in Windows 7

grettings to everyone:
After I sucessfully Dreamweaver CS4 in Windows 7, when I try
to open it shows a message of side-by-side missconfiguration. I
went to the log viewer and this is the general information for it:
quote:
Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program
Files\Adobe\Adobe Extension Manager CS4\Adobe Extension Manager
CS4.exe". Dependent Assembly
Microsoft.VC80.MFC,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="wi n32",version="8.0.50608.0"
could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.
I also installed Photosop Cs4 and had no problems with it, it
runs ok.
I would apreciate any help.
Thanks

Of course I know Windows 7 is still in beta, It all solved
when I restarted my PC, though it never asked me to do it.

  • Can't install Dreamweaver CS4 on WIndows 7.  Setup error

I can't install Dreamweaver CS4 on WIndows 7.  I get a vague error that says Setup error, sontact Adobe Customer Support. Adobe Customer Support refuses to help me.  That really upsets me.

First of all I would like to thank the people that responded to my post.  I am extreemly impressed with your eagerness to help and your concern for my problem.  Thank you very much! I appreciate it.
I did not see a way to get a transcript of my chat.  I should have printed it at the conclusion of my chat. Overall though, I think my concerns are with Windows itself and also how Adobe as a company handles a call from someone who gets an installation error that says "call Adobe Customer Support". I purchased this program to run on Windows 7 and I am installing it on a Windows 7 computer. I feel that if Adobe is going to give a vague error message and tell you to contact them, they should give me more assistance than "your product is too old, good luck on the forums". I could see if I am calling and asking them how to do something, maybe my product is too old for that, but I think their responce was unacceptable.  I hope enough other people complain so that Adobe changes this policy.
Wow, this has taken an enormous amount of time to deal with. I imagine this is mainly a Windows file permissions issue, but I think Adobe needs to take some ownership for a client having to spend many HOURS trying to install their program on the original OS they purchased the program for.
I definitely do not like the way the Adobe Dreamweaver installer deals with errors. Here are the facts as I know them.
When the installer would fail on install, the subsequesnt install would fail, but it would give a VERY cryptic error stating that the install failed and I need to contact Adobe customer service.
In order to re-install I had to un-install.  Naturally my un-installs failed every time, too. After lots of trial and error and checking the forumns, I found   the program install folders under c:\programs. I deleted them, re-booted, unistalled again with no errors.  Then I could re-install without the vague "contact Adobe customer support" error.  Note that I had to re-install several times to get to the bottom of the installation problem so this took a long time to figure out.
In the end, I had to manually delete files from C:\Windows\Installer in order to get Dreamweaver to install.  This took a long time to figure out, too.  It still installed with errors, but it said Dreamweaver would work with limited functionality. So far this is good enough for me and I am tired of spending non-billable time on this.
Following is one of the main erros I got during the first failed install.  IF ANYONE KNOWS EXACTLY WHY MY INSTALL WAS FAILING I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW.  IT SEEMS LIKE IT DID NOT HAVE PERMISSION FROM THE OPERATING SYSTEM TO ACCESS THOSE FILES, BUT THAT SHOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE AS THE PROGRAM IS INSTALLED AS ADMINISTRATOR. Any thoughts???
    Thanks again everyone who helped!

  • Error Installing Dreamweaver CS4 on Windows 7: Installer Database is Corrupt

Error Message: The Installer Database is Corrupt. Please contact Adobe Customer Service.
I bought a new laptop and would like to install Dreamweaver CS4 on it. It is already running fine on my desktop, being installed back in 1/2011. Both PCs are Windows 7 but the new laptop is Windows 7 Professional.  I have downloaded the two install files ADBEDRWVCS4_LS1.7z and ADBEDRWVCS4_LS1.exe multiple ways and to multiple locatons on the laptop. I've run the .exe file multiple ways and extracted to several locations besides the default (c:\users\userid\Desktop\Adobe CS4). After the extract completes and it tries to run setup I get the same message "The Installer Database is corrupt. Please Contact Adobe Customer Service" (which I did and they just gave me another download link I had already tried).
I even copied the folder with the extracted files done on my desktop (where the install had succeeded). And still got the same message when I ran setup.exe on the laptop. I tried running it with a "run as administrator" command prompt, double-clicking in Windows Explorer, start > run and the same thing happens. At least it doesn't appear that it has actually installed anything yet.
I did notice that my new PC has a program called "7-zip 9.20" installed which I do not remember installing and its install date is prior to my purchase of the PC so I'm guessing it came with it (HP Pavilion 15t running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit). The Windows 7 Desktop does not have this program installed. It is available from C|net where it has a good rating. Perhaps setup.exe does further extracting and the 7-zip program is the culprit? This is a long shot.
I searched for others with this problem and found lots of issues installing Dw CS4, but none quite like this.

Awesome! That worked! Actually I searched three folders (Program Files, Program Files (x86) & Program Data) for caps.db and found:
    c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premier Elements\caps.db (dated 9/2/2011)
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Backup\caps.db
I ignored the first one since it might be needed by the Premier Elements 10 I installed yesterday and changed the name of the other one from caps.db to barb.fix.
I changed the install folder from c:\Program Files\Adobe to c:\Program Files (x86) just in case CS4 is a 32-bit application which I had done before when installing on my Windows7 Desktop. Now that the install has completed I see that I have caps.db files dated 5/5/2014 in
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\caps\caps.db
c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\backup\caps.db (barb.fix is still there but is only 26kb vs 3291 kb for the new caps.db)
Thank-you so much! Now wish me luck when I try to open it for the first time!

  • I can't install Dreamweaver 8 on Windows 7

Just like my title, I can't install Dreamweaver 8 on Windows 7 Release Candidate.
I can start the installation, but it just stuck at "installing" for very long time, and the installation just can not Continue...
I already try to running it in XP compatibility mode( Windows XP SP2), and the answer is the same: can't install.
    Can anyone advise, please?

I'm afraid you may be out of luck.  DW 8 is 3 versions old and was not tested to work on the new operating system.
There have been reports that some people are unable to run CS4 or are having problems with CS4 on Windows 7, so I doubt very much that DW8 would work.  Sorry.

  • Initial issues with PS CS4 Extended Windows XP Pro.

Initial issues with PS CS4 Extended Windows XP Pro.
CS3 worked just fine but had many issues with Bridge CS3. So frustrating that the $$ to upgrade to CS4 seem worth it. Mostly works OK with the following exceptions:
    1. Sometimes the file menu selections are non-selectable grey including fundamental functions like Open and Exit not even clicking on the x will allow PS to close! I found a workaround, I can select a tool that is not currently selected (like the crop or brush) and now the menu items appear.
    2. The Arrange Documents drop down menu is blank except for the lower text portion. All icons are missing. Roll over text popup shows what is supposed to be on the menu but no icons.
    3. I have setup Bridge CS4 to auto start at logon. Works OK but sometimes for whatever reason stays busy after I close. Task Manager shows Bridge using up to 25% of CPU time and the program is not even open!
    5. I purchased a couple Canon EOS 50Ds as backup cameras for our business. Worked last week with CS3 and Bridge with Raw 4.6 upgrade. Does not work with RAW 5.0 in CS4bummer!

I had the same problem with blank/missing "Arrange Documents" icons. And I use NIK and OnOne plugins (CS4 & Vista). These plugins are all supposed to be compatible with CS4 and I use them ALOT - so I refused to remove them. Today I also started having a problem with an error re: needing to install a printer before I could select print functions.
I found the answer to both problems!! While researching the error message I found information from Adobe support stating that you should:
    1. Quit Photoshop
    2. Vista: Rename the Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings\Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp file to Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.old
    Windows XP path: Documents and Settings/[username]/Application Data/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings/Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp
    3. Start Photoshop - it will create a new preferences file.
My print error message is gone AND I have Arrange Documents icons!!!

  • Need Help Installing Flash CS4 For Windows

Hi, I have downloaded the two files to install Flash CS4 for Windows from here: http://helpx.adobe.com/uk/creative-suite/kb/cs4-product-downloads.html
Unfortunately, there is no explanation whatsoever provided regarding how to use the two files, and how to install my product.
I feel like I am missing something obvious here, but can someone please explain.
    Kind regards,
    Finn.

Try uninstalling then run the Adobe Cleaner Tool
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Then double click the .exe file again.
What do I do with the .7z file?
Nothing. That's is an archive of files used by the .exe file during the installation process.

  • I can't install dreamweaver CS4

I have buy Creative Suite design premium and i can't install dreamweaver CS4
before i installed DW CS4 beta for test and put the icon in the bin to desinstall it and now i can(t use the buy version

You can't just trash Adobe apps. You need to uninstall them.
Now you'll need to hunt down the CS4 clean script and run that.

  • Re-install dreamweaver CS4

Trying to re-install dreamweaver cs4 after a computer problem. During installation, program would only process thru 90% of the check system profile before completly stopping. Let it run over an hour and nothing happen

What type of computer problem did you face?  Are you installing from a CD?  If so you can try copying the install files to your desktop to see if you receive a read error while reading the disc.  If you do receive a read error then you can download a fresh copy of the install files from http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html.

  • Cannot install Photoshop CS4 on Windows 8.1

Trying to install Photoshop CS4 on Windows 8.1 but upon the initial "Checking system profile" step of the installation I keep getting this: "Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact adobe customer support for assistance". Anyone know how to fix this?

    Hi srr49,
You can try installing in compatibility mode and check.
Windows 8.1 is not a supported OS for Photoshop CS4. I would recommend purchasing the latest Photoshop CC.

  • Installing Dreamweaver CS4 while keeping CS3 web premium 1603 error

    Hi,
I am trying to install Dreamweaver CS4 but I also have creative suite 3 web premium installed and want to keep all the cs3 programs except for dreamweaver cs3 because I'm upgrading to CS4. When I try to install it I get the infamou 1603 error.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Unregister everything CS3 and remnants of failed CS4 installs using the CS4 Clean Utility. Also include Acrobat Reader. Manually uninstall AIR-based stuff using the "Add or Remove Programs" panel. Then try again.

  • FTP Connection Issue in Dreamweaver CS4

I just reinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and of course had to reinstall Design Premium CS4. Up until now Dreamweaver CS4 (Version 10.0 Build 4117) has connected to ftp flawlessly, however ever since I reinstalled I have been receiving the "An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host. The remote host cannot be found" error message.
What I have tried so far:
I have double checked that my login information is correct
I have successfully logged in to the ftp server using another ftp client and through a browser
Through Dreamweaver I have tried using passive FTP, secure FTP, firewall and none of those settings make a difference.
I receive the error message whether I click "test" or try to connect through the files panel .
I have checked my firewall settings and Dreamweaver is an allowed program.
I don't have access to another ftp server to check if would work in that situation.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Dreamweaver and the entire suite.
Is there anything else that I need to do?
Thanks in advance for any help.

This is a maddening issue that's getting press in various forums, here and on Adobe's site, and all sorts of third party blogs, etc. I spent days wrestling with this with no luck, because in CS3, which I"ve been using for years under OS X, Extension Manager is broken (under Mountain Lion, at least). Installed CS4, CS5—nothing worked. The ""can't connect" error message appears instantly, suggesting that DW wasn't even trying to make the FTP connection, which led me to suspect Little Snitch or some other firewall issue, but this wasn't the case. I isolated login items, repaired permissions, booted in Safe Mode—all with no luck. Finally, I tried opening DW from a different user login and FTP connected. This, at least in my case, pointed to something in the user folder. I narrowed it down to the User/Library folder. Creating a new user and copying the Library folder over copied over the problem, as expected. New user was deleted, and I wen tinto the troublemaking User/Library folder to see what I could see. There were old files and folders there from previous installs, including CS3—speciifically in the User/Library/Application Support folder and, of course, in User/Library/Preferences. After deleting thiese, I found no further problems connecting via FTP in DW CS4. I presume that CS5 also would connect now, but I'm not keen to put it to the test. Under CS4, Extension Manager works fine, which is what I was looking to accomplish in upgrading from CS3. Moral of the story: Adobe CS installations do not like legacy files and folder either in User/Library/Application Support or User/Library/Preferences. Deleting these may work for you, too—at least it's another string to the troubleshooting bow, and this one can be a real bear. Good luck to all who have run into this.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 and Windows 8

I have recently purchased a new laptop running Windows 8.  I am a private individual who runs three websites using Dreamweaver CS4, one for a school and two a non-profit organisation..  The local view shows every file on my drive instead of only the files in the in the folders belonging to each website.
    Is this a compatability issue?
    Can anyone offer assistance?
    neon700

When you set up the Local Root folder, make sure DW is putting the right path in. I know there is a glitch in DWCS4 that would put basically "on directory up" as the folder even if you browsed to the right place and hit OK. (up until a couple weeks ago, I was still using DWCS4 and fought this issue every time I made a new site)
Go into your broken site definition using Site > Manage Sites > Edit
    Click the Advanced Tab
Look at the Local Root Folder text box. This is where DWCS4 likes goofing up. If your site's root folder was supposed to be C:\Users\yourname\Desktop\Folder1 it will likely show C:\Users\yourname\Desktop instead. You should be able to change that manually by adding in the correct folder name at the end.
Otherwise, the way to fix it when you're making a new site is to browse to the correct location twice when adding the local root folder during the Site Definition process. It will usually pick up the correct location on the second attempt.

  • Cannot re-install Dreamweaver CS4

Two weeks ago I had a problem with my Windows XP Pro installation and had to "repair" the OS installation. After the repair everything that I had installed on this machine worked fine, save Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver would open but gave me nothing but a blank gray screen.
Assuming that an uninstall followed by a re-install would solve the problem, I proceeded to do just that. Boy, was I ever wrong. Two weeks later and about 40 hours of trying everything and everything that Adobe had to offer, I'm no closer to a working system than I was two weeks ago.
When I attempt to install the system, the installation process hangs at about 90% of the "Checking system" bar and never even gets to the actual installation phase. Inasmuch as I had it up and running for more than four months prior to Win XP crashing, I know the machine is capable of handling the system.
I have tried all 10 of the "suggestions" that Adobe makes regarding this problem. I have tried uninstalling everything Adobe on the machine, from Flash Player to Acrobat. I have run the CS5CleanupScript, which, if you follow the instructions and uninstall the product first, doesn't do squat, because (you guessed it) the Adobe product has been removed and the cleanup utility can't find it. Calling Tech Support is a joke, as after waiting an hour or so, all you get is some Indian or Philippino whos English is limited to "You must pray $39.00 prease".
I have searched every file on my computer and have uninstalled and/or deleted each and every file that contains anything referring to Adobe, Dreamweaver, CS4 and/or CS5. I have also done the same with the Windows registry, searching and removing any and all references to Dreamweaver. I still cannot get past the startup installation screen.
I have copied the CD onto my hard drive and attempted an installation from there with no success. I have tried it with a new user; I have tried it with each of the three Windows "Safe" modes. Absolutely nothing I do will re-install this product. I paid good money for this and even though CS5 is now available, I believe that I should still be able to use waht I paid for six months ago.
Can anyone give me any hint as to how to get Dreamweaver to install? Thanks for any help.

Knowing that you did all the clean tools and everything else, the only logical explanation left is that there is still a lingering problem in your OS installation.  How exactly did you "repair" Windows XP?  Did you do a complete re-install of the operation system or some other function.  That might shed some light on possible problems and solutions.
