Hi john,
I went through the log file, but could not trace what is the exact issue, can you please have a look at the below log and tell me what needs to be done for corrective actions

Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3: Add New User
1: When trying to refresh security filters using the workspace interface I get the following error(s) AND the essbase security file gets messed up (including, the native admin id).
I then need to login with an alternate id that does not have access to planning and refresh security using the eas interface ("Refersh security from shared services") to get essbase and native admin to work again.

2: If I am granting access to users via groups, do I need to refresh filters from workspace for any users added to the group through shared services ?
3: What happens behind the scenes when I do a "Refersh security from shared services" using EAS ?
4: When accessing planning via workspace, the authorisation comes from Shared services ... right ? or is this stored in the relational planning DB ?
Thanks in anticipation ....
Cheers!1. First thing to start with is to set the substitution variable: Forecast_Year
2. Yes, you have to refresh security filters,
3. Are you checking both refresh database and security at once: check this document: Error: "1051012 - User xyz does not exist." (Doc ID 987434.1)
4. Authorization comes from HSS, but the artifacts level security is present in relational database and (for members) Essbase as security filters.

I have the port set to 11333 Hyperion RMI service is running.. still getting this error..
By the way it looks like this 11.1.1.5 release of ODI has too many bugs when loading data and metadata to Hyperion..
It seems that I need ODI to be installed on Planning server.. I had it running on the other (essbase) server originally and it could not even access Planning unless I used the Agent.. Now I am getting this error:

Hyperion planning - match variable from BR with page on form
Hi gurus,
I have a problem with matching variable which I create in business rule to page filter on my form. I want to make business rules that use member which I choose from page in form. I create RTP variable but that is not what I need because when I pick RTP attribute for my variable then on call Business rules I need to choose member again.
ThanksYou can use hide prompt in Business Rule properties (when you add the rule to form). See if that works, else you'll have to hide it in Calc Manager itself.

Cache memory usage of Hyperion Planning, Workspace and Financial Reporting
We have installed Hyperion Planning, Workspace and Financial Reporting in one single server and we would like to know is there any cache memory setting can be fine tuned to improved the overall online performance of the system.
How can we control the memory usage of individual user logged into Workspace and Hyperion Planning? And if users generate a large size report in Financial Reporting, should more memory be allocated to the user so as to speed up the report generation speed?
Thanks in advance! Our onsite consultants told us that as we have many web forms and some web forms contains lot of cells, the compiled Hyperion Planning application is quite large (> 1GB) and sometimes may have "out of memory" problem. We just wonder we are using 64bit version of Windows 2003 we should have a much larger memory address space. How can we improve the "out of memory" issue?
Or Hyperion Planning is still a 32 bit application? -
Hyperion Planning FDM Integration
I am new to Hyperion Planning and want to integrate with FDM, from documentation i understand it can be done with Essbase. Please help how to integrate Hyperion Planning with FDM
Hi
1. Browse to the outbox\templates folder and open the Budget-12Periods-AllDims template
2. Paste the source data into the template and adjust the periods/location/category to be loaded to and update the upsnamed range to include all of the data
3. Login to the FDM application and choose Activities > Multiload
4. Browse for the source template and click "check-in"
5. Run through the workflow Import/Validate/Export/Consolidate/Check
6. Open EAS and locate the planning application database, right-click and choose Edit/Drill Definition
7. At the end of the URL is a random e character. Remove this character and save the definition
8. Open the planning form in the workspace and drill to FDM, drill is successful.
please check the above and let me know -
Hyperion Planning - Failed to sync with user provisioning. Check planning
Hi All,
I'm trying to configure Hyperion Planning to user an external user repository (OID) but when i try to login with an OID user i get the following error :
"Failed to sync with user provisioning. Check planning log for details"
I'm not hyperion expert so please excuse any school boy mistakes.
Use Case : login to Hyperion Planning using an OID user
Setup:
1) User created in OID
2) Use Provisioned in HSS with planning roles
3) User can login to HSS
4) Able to login with Native user with the exact same roles
5) Version 11.1.2
6) Can only see native user in EAS..
I've googled away and tried various things:
1) Run provisionUsers script :

OzHi,
Have you updated the datasources for each of the planning applications, you will need to update the password and probably recycle planning app server.

Hi,
We have a planning application which was working fine since yesterday. When I was working in shared services on user rights, i was able to provision few new users.
After completing this process I tried to login into the Hyperion Planning Application but i got an error "Failed to sync with user provisioning. Check Planning log for details" However I am able to login with "admin" in planning but could not see planning forms because of non-availability of outline and variables in essbase.
I went into essbase to further investigate and noticed that there was no outline in essbase for the planning applocation.
I also tried to push the outlin from planning but it says that " verify that hyperion essbase is running and check your network connections"
I also restarted all the services but with no success.
Please help as this is urgent and we are into UAT phase and moving to production.
ThanksWe are not using Maxl for any purpose in here and we are not sure how to use it as well....one more thing which is quite visible in my logs is

Using hsgetvalue function to retrieve Hyperion Planning Data
Hi All,
Lots of discussion about hsgetvalue, but still I do not succeed in using this function. Maybe someone can help.
Is this function work for HFM or also Hyperion Planning? Currently we are using Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3 with related Essbase. This is what we've tried in Excel:
=hsgetvalue(“";”Scenario#BudFin;Year#FY12;Period#Begbalance;Partner#NA_Partner;Product#A251;Account#BOM Weight;Version#Working;Misc#R-SBDA;Entity#No Entity;Currency#Qty") ===> the result is syntax error.
=hsgetvalue("","Scenario#BudFin","Year#FY12","Period#Begbalance","Partner#NA_partner","Product#A251","Account#BOM Weight","Version#Working","Entity#No Entity","Currency#Qty","Misc#R-SBDA") ===> the result is No Connection.
Actually I'm still confused about the Connection parameter, which connection name we have to use?
Thanks.
GajahHi,
HsGetValue
Data sources: Financial Management, Hyperion Enterprise, Essbase
HsGetValue retrieves data from the data source for selected members of a dimension. When HsGetValue retrieves no data, the value specified for the #NoData/Missing Label replacement option is used.
When users select Refresh or Refresh All, only HsGetValue is called. When users select Submit, HsSetValue is called first, HsGetValue is then called only if HsSetValue returns successfully.
Syntax
HsGetValue(“Connection”,”POV”)
Connection parameters can have these values:
Empty: the default connection
HsActive: the active associated connection
The user-defined name for a private connection
You connect to data sources through shared or private connections.
_# Shared Connections_
Shared connections are stored in a central location and are available to multiple users through the Smart View Panel. You cannot add, edit, or rename shared connections, but you can save them as private connections, which you can edit and rename.
_# Private Connections_
Private connections are those that you create by saving a shared connection to your local computer or by entering a URL to a provider that is not configured for shared connections. When you create a private connection, it becomes the active connection.
Creating Private Connections
You can create a private connection from a connection that is not listed in Shared Connections if you know the URL.
To add a connection using a URL:
1. From the Smart View ribbon, click Panel.
2. From the Smart View panel, click the arrow next to "Home" Icon, and then select Private Connections.
3. In the text box, enter the URL or the local storage directory for the data source to which you want to connect. The URL syntax for the various data sources is as follows.
Financial Management: http(s)://servername:port/hfmofficeprovider/hfmofficeprovider.aspx
Hyperion Enterprise: http://servername:port/heofficeprovider/heofficeprovider.aspx
Planning: http(s)://servername:port/HyperionPlanning/SmartView
Essbase: http(s)://servername:port/aps/SmartView
Reporting and Analysis: http(s)://servername:port/raframework/browse/listxml
Financial Close Management: http://servername:port/fcc/servlets/smartview/fcmsvservlet
Oracle Hyperion Strategic Finance: http://servername:port/StrategicPlanning/SmartView
4. Click Next Button
5. Enter the Name of the connect as "Essbase_Conn"
6. Enter username, password and connect the worksheet.
Now you can create functions by two methods -
1. Using Function Builder
2. Manually (Which you have opted)
To create a function manually:*
1. In Excel, click the cell in which you want to enter the function.
2. Enter = (equal sign).
3. Enter the function name, HsGetValue, for example.
4 Enter parameters for the function,
HsGetValue(“Connection”,”POV”)
Connection parameters can have these values:
# Empty: the default connection
# HsActive: the active associated connection
# The user-defined name for a private connection
so the function looks like this:
HsGetValue(“Essbase_Conn”;"Year#Jan;Measures#Sales;Product#100;Market#East;Scenario#Actual")
5. To refresh the worksheet, from the Smart View menu, select Refresh. Functions are validated only when you refresh them.

Computer based training (CBT) for Hyperion Planning
We would like to know is there any computer based training (CBT) for Hyperion Planning that can be delivered to end users either in DVD video format or CDROM interactive format? We have checked with Oracle and they do not provide such training material except for formal classroom training offered by Oracle University.
Thanks in advance!JohnGoodwin wrote:
Hi,
As you say Oracle don't provide any such training, Hyperion used to provide some CBT packages for end users but that was a while back and before they were bought out by Oracle.
I think your best best would be try to search on the web for any 3rd party training companies who deal with Hyperion, I am not sure if there will be that many dealing with CBT though.

Planning error : hyperion.planning.DuplicateUserException
I am unable to log into planning app after we refreshed our test sqlserver with prod data. I get the followeing error
hyperion.planning.DuplicateUserException: Another user with the name hypadmin already exists.
com.hyperion.planning.HspRuntimeException: Failed to sync with user provisioning.
any ideas ?
I have tried updating the sid value in HSP_USERS table with the old values -- no luck.
Please help.Sounds like you have not done the migration correctly.
I take it hypadmin is the application owner and a native user.
If so you should store the correct native sid on your test environment.
Have a look at a working planning app on your test environment, go into the relational tables
look at table HSP_USERS and store the sid for id 50001
Update the other planning app in your test environment with the correct stored sid in the same table.
Restart planning.
Also run the updateusers utility in the planning bin/utiliites directory.
Its much easier if you create planning applications with the default admin account as the sid stays the same across environments.
Cheers

Problem:Member is Read only Mode after login with other user
Dear,
I am facing problem to enter the data in member. i.e Read only. but same member is fine with login with admin user.
I also assign the security with write permission to user. but the only that member "X" is in read only mode..
Is task list can effect on that??? as i am also using task list. Becoz when i add another member that is not member of that hirechiary its fine.
I am working on hyperion version 11.1.2.1..
Regards,
AMSIThanks, Problem has been solved myself becoz when i add new member in the form as this form is already part of Planning Unit Hierarchy , that's why the newly added member in the form can't be write only till up to when u add this member into Planning Unit Hierarchy.
