Issue: Main speaker doesn't work after 2.0 and new apps installed

I'm having problems with the main listening speaker on my phone after updating to 2.0 and downloading a couple of radio stations programs. I can hear anything from this side, I have to set this as speaker mode in order to hear the person that I'm calling. I uninstalled all the applications and still have the same issue. Is anyone experiencing the same issue?

Thank you, that fixed my problem. Apple should upgrade my phone for free.

What "left speaker"?  The iPhone has one speaker, which is on the right as you look at the bottom of the phone.

  • Safari Bug: Look-up (dictionary) doesn't work after using Youtube on new 6.1 on mountain lion and the newest version for Mavericks

One of sever glitches that led me to "downgrade" back to mountain lion.  However, wasn't thinking and updated safari to 6.1 and I now have the same problem.  It took me a while to figure out, but now it is completely reproducible.  When I visit youtube and watch a video.  Safari's look-up, the three finger tap dictionary shortcut, no longer works.  It just highlights the word momentarily but never completes the function.
I'm going to restore my laptop again to factory setting and just not upgrade the software to the new Safari update.
The main issues/bugs I had with Mavericks, even after a clean install were:
    - pdf's very freezing while scrolling for a few seconds
    - frequent spinning pin wheels
    - other small random bugs I can't recall at the moment.

Thanks, but the problem seems to show up only after extended use of the computer.Today, for example,I didn't go to work, and turned the PC on in the morning, and by early afternoon,it was getting more and more sluggish. It finally got so bad that it locked up,and even CTL-ALT-DEL wouldn't work.

  • Photo editor app now available but doesn't work, after latest What's New update

    hi all
odd experience what I wanted to highlight with you all.
I've just had an updated (this morning) to What's New build 3.0.A.0.2
After installing this patch / update, I was then told that "Photo Editor" was available to download. Build is 5.0.A.0.12
As far as I'm concerned I've not had this app on my phone before - checking in system apps reveals this is a fresh install, rather than an update to an existing app.
Also, I've not worked out how to run it, as there's no app shortcut on my homescreen. The app is not visible in the app picklist (when adding new items to my homescreens) either. Nor is the app in the main app list (accessed with the 6 dots button in the middle of the permanent shortcut panel on the homescreen).
I've even tried using a very useful app "quick shortcut maker" and although I can find photo editor in its activity list, when i test the generated shortcut, I get "unfortunately, photo editor has stopped".
    Any ideas?
I do have some apps disabled, so does photo editor have any known dependencies?
EDIT: I've tried clearing photo editor data and restarting - no change.
    Cheers,
    Gary

    Hi MyAliasIsGary
Photo Editor is a system app only, it is available for use when editing photo's through your Album or Photo's app. For example, if you go into Album > tap on a photo > tap the icon at the bottom that looks like a pencil on paper > tap Photo editor.

  • FCP HD STUDIO Malfunctions After HD Crash and New HD Install

OK Pro's! I know that someone out there has had something like this happen. My PM G5's original internal Hard Drive crashed and with the help of the Apple Tech @ repair unit got most of my Programs only recovered. I decided to install new 500 MB HD in unit too. Used Migration assistant to move files. Now Final cut runs like road kill. Often hangs up and frequently have to force quit. Of course I could use iMovie but why when FCP Studio 5 HD is on system and does it all better (used to at least).
Any hints, helps, clues, and knowledgeable guidance is welcomed.
    thx.

PowerMac G5 w/23" Cinema Display   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   Two LaCie 500MB FW HD

Yes, that's what I'm recommending for you.
Insert your Tiger install dsioc in the SuperDrive, double-click on the install icon, and when the installer reboots and begins, click through until you reach the Installation Type screen, then click on the Options button. Select Erase & Install and go for it.
Then, after the installer finishes, update to v10.4.6 again, repair permissions in Disk Utility at every step. Then reinstall your apps, update them, and repair permissions at every step.
    Should be Good to Go.
At the end of this, you'll have a huge 500GB Scratch Disk that will be very fast and reliable. Use your firewire drives for archiving media & projects.

Make sure the silent switch is not set to mute.  If you can see the red dot, it is on mute.
It may think you have headphones plugged in, try plugging and unplugging a wired headset a few time.
The next step would be to restore as new.
If none of that works, a warranty exchange would be the resolution.

  • [Solved] Network doesn't work after hibernate?

Hello!  This is my first legit Linux install so excuse me if I'm a bit slow.  I installed Arch last night and everything went smoothly.  However, after I tested out hibernate on my machine, the network doesn't seem to work.  Just prior to the hibernate, I installed Pidgin and Skype but they worked alright, so I think that the hibernate caused a problem on eth0.
I have an Asus P8Z68-V Pro motherboard with an Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet Controller that's using the e1000e driver.  Running "dmesg | grep e1000e" says that it is up.
I'm not entirely clear here, but from reading, I think that I have several ways of connecting to the network, including network, dhcpcd, networkmanager, and wicd.  I am using wicd so I did the following (or at least I think I am only using wicd):
    #rc.d stop network
    #rc.d stop dhcpcd
    #rc.d stop networkmanager
Similarly, I put a ! in front of network in rc.conf:
    # /etc/rc.conf - Main Configuration for Arch Linux
    # LOCALIZATION
    # LOCALE: available languages can be listed with the 'locale -a' command
    # DAEMON_LOCALE: If set to 'yes', use $LOCALE as the locale during daemon
    # startup and during the boot process. If set to 'no', the C locale is used.
    # HARDWARECLOCK: set to "", "UTC" or "localtime", any other value will result
    # in the hardware clock being left untouched (useful for virtualization)
    # Note: Using "localtime" is discouraged, using "" makes hwclock fall back
    # to the value in /var/lib/hwclock/adjfile
    # TIMEZONE: timezones are found in /usr/share/zoneinfo
    # Note: if unset, the value in /etc/localtime is used unchanged

Restarting eth0 through wicd-cli still did not work.  I also tried resuscitating the network via instructions on the configure network page before trying to focus solely on wicd.
I found a few similar problems on the forums by searching "wicd hibernate" and tried several solutions but they did not work.  Several problems seem to be that the network doesn't work after a suspend because I guess the stuff in RAM did not get saved?  But people were able to restart the network by running "/usr/lib/wicd/autoconnect.py" and I wasn't able to get this to work.  As a final effort, I added "resume" into mkinitcpio.conf and placed the machine into sleep again to see if it may magically reset something but of course this did not happen .
    mkinitcpio.conf:
    # vim:set ft=sh
    # MODULES
    # The following modules are loaded before any boot hooks are
    # run. Advanced users may wish to specify all system modules
    # in this array. For instance:
    # MODULES="piix ide_disk reiserfs"
    MODULES=""
    # BINARIES
    # This setting includes any additional binaries a given user may
    # wish into the CPIO image. This is run first, so it may be used to
    # override the actual binaries used in a given hook.
    # (Existing files are NOT overwritten if already added)
    # BINARIES are dependency parsed, so you may safely ignore libraries
    BINARIES=""
    # FILES
    # This setting is similar to BINARIES above, however, files are added
    # as-is and are not parsed in any way. This is useful for config files.
    # Some users may wish to include modprobe.conf for custom module options
    # like so:

    # modules and scripts added to the image, and what happens at boot time.
    # Order is important, and it is recommended that you do not change the
    # order in which HOOKS are added. Run 'mkinitcpio -H <hook name>' for
    # help on a given hook.
    # 'base' is _required_ unless you know precisely what you are doing.
    # 'udev' is _required_ in order to automatically load modules
    # 'filesystems' is _required_ unless you specify your fs modules in MODULES
    # Examples:
    ## This setup specifies all modules in the MODULES setting above.
    ## No raid, lvm2, or encrypted root is needed.

    ## This setup will autodetect all modules for your system and should

Is wicd causing these problems or did I configure something else improperly?  Would appreciate any help to get eth0 up again!

Ok, I think I've made some progress!  Hibernate definitely affects my network connection.  Could this be a kernel 3.0 problem?
I noticed that ifconfig showed eth0 without an inet addr, just an inet6 addr for the longest time.  e1000e seemed to be loading up ok.  I'm not certain here, but I think that meant the dhcp settings didn't stick, or something along those lines.
Trying to use dhcpcd like the instructions here did not work.  By some chance, one attempt did work and while it did, I downloaded and installed dhclient.  After that one successful attempt, renewing the DHCP lease via dhcpcd did not work again.
Luckily though, I found that running "dhclient eth0" worked.  My DHCP settings seemed to have somehow gotten messed up after my initial, problematic hibernate to the point where none would stick, even after a reboot.  Manually typing in "dhclient eth0" would get eth0 working, so I decided to add it to the bottom of /etc/rc.local, like in the example on the networking page.
Now, eth0 works after a boot.  However, after the daemons load up during the boot process, my computer takes a long time to get to the login prompt (this is relatively speaking, since I am on a SSD and the boot process used to be blazing fast before).  I'm pretty sure it's because I added "dhclient eth0" to /etc/rc.local.
I should say that even with these changes, after a hibernate, my eth0 still does not work and if it weren't for the edit to /etc/rc.local, eth0's inet settings would still not stick after a reboot (that is to say, the hibernate does do something to my network settings).
Is this the correct/most efficient way to fix my DHCP problem?  Can I fix my "eth0 after hibernate" issue?  Also, can I make my DHCP settings boot up without changes to /etc/rc.local so that I can get a fast boot again (still not sure how it was able to work before without my edit)?

  • IPhone 4 ear speaker not working after 2 restores and cleaning the headphone socket.

    Hi,
I know this problem is not uncommon, but here goes...
I have an iPhone 4 which was running iOS 5.1.1 a few days ago when the ear speaker stopped working.  I cant hear the other person when I make or recieve a call, but nothing else is wrong with the phone.  It is 18 months old.
I've searched the discussions and seen some of the suggestions.  I tried cleaning out the headphone socket, with no luck.  I then tried a full restore and update to iOS 6.  This appeared to have worked.  I tried 2 calls and I could hear the other person.  I then left the phone alone for a couple of hours and when I tried it again, it had stopped working again.
I have since done another full restore but the speaker is still not working at all.  The fact that it worked after the first restore suggests it's something simple or software related but I have no idea what else to try other than getting it repaired in a shop.  The problem is I am in Japan where my network (Softbank) and an independent repair shop have both quoted me the equivalent of $176 / £110 to fix it.
Does anyone know anything else I can try before I give in and end up shelling out this ridiculous cost for something that is probably a 20 minute fix?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I have the exact same problem with my ear speaker after my IOS 6 upgrade. My speakers work, bluetooth works, the earphones work, but the ear speaker doesn’t work. I noticed this IMMEDIATELY after the upgrade was completed. I also have the following problems:
-Very slow call connect time. 30 - 45 seconds just to connect is typical. Signal strength is 5 bars (ATT)
    -Problems attaching to known networks
-Very slow internet browsing with many timeouts on both the ATT 3G service and known Wi-Fi networks.
    - My camera was missing after the IOS 6 upgrade. I restored that from Restrictions inside of the Settings App
    - Music was so screwed up it was easier to just restore it
I went to the Apple store hoping to get some support. Between my wife, my son, and myself we have purchased 4 iPhones and an iPad over the last few years with plans to purchase another iPad in a month or so. So it’s not like I' not familiar with Apple Technology and their typical level of support.
The individual who waited on me was rude and condescending. He insisted that all of the problems were hardware related or ATT’s fault, or my fault. He further asserted that IOS 6 had NOTHING to do with any of the problems. I pointed out that it would be quite a coincidence for my hardware to break, for ATT to have network problems, and for me to suddenly forget how to use an iPhone at the same exact moment that IOS 6 had been installed. He maintained his position and offered to sell me another phone.
I don’t expect the folks in the store to reprogram the OS. Mistakes happen. I’m going to guess that Apple’s OS programmers are already working on a fix for many of the IOS 6 complaints that are easy to find on Google. Assigning blame to the customer and denying any responsibility is not a model for success or customer service. I’m sure Apple wouldn’t accept that kind of excuse from their component manufacturers and don’t think it is how they should deal with their customers. Further, Apple wants to own the device. They want to control the apps, the OS, battery, the delivery channel. I’m good with that so long as when there is a problem, they own that as well.
And BTW… I’m not including the maps in my list of issues with IOS 6 because I kind of like the new maps and am willing to give Apple the benefit of the doubt. I believe that their map service will get a lot better in a hurry.

Voice command for Contacts doesn't work after a reboot or a contacts restore.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Backup contacts. Open Files > Backup & Restore > Select Contact for Backup Contents and select Back up now.
    2. Edit/save a contact, press and hold the call button, speak contacts name. The voice recognition works fine.
    3. Restore contacts. Open Files > Backup & Restore > Select Contact for Backup Contents and select Restore.
    4. Reboot phone when prompted.
    5. Press and hold the call button, speak contacts name. The voice recognition does not work.
    Work around:
    Edit and save each contact.
    Additional Information:
Social integration with contacts also does not work after a reboot. The facebook icon and "See what xxx is up to on Facebook" is not displayed. The same work around "Edit and save each contact" also applies. This occurs using the Nokia N8 and Nokia 808 Pureview.

Has anyone had this issue, is there a setting I am missing in my phone?
    Hello,
This is not necessarily and issue with the phone. It could also be an issue with the car`s bluetooth software that is only limited to some functions like reading your contacts list, last calls, missed calls, etc. which is most likely the basic 2.0 version.
The Z30 has the 4.0 version that has a lot more communication capability but if the car`s bluetooth its a lower version, then you will not be able to take full advantage of it unless you upgrade the bluetooth software in your car. Call your dealer and inquire about the bluetooth software upgrade in your car
