Issue making Cost Center Hierarchy Time Dependent

Hi,
We have three hierarchies on top of cost center and cost center was not time-dependent. There is a new requirement to make one of the hierarchies time dependent. To faclitate it, I changed the hierarchy property in cost center infoobject to "Hierarchy structure is time-dependent" and then loaded the hierarchy. It took the validity dates of 1.1.1000 to 31.12.999. A costcenter was changed from one node to another in ECC and was extracted into BI. As time-dependency is set, I thought that node will have two entries now one with validity period 1.1.1000 to 30.10.2009 and another with 31.10.2009 to 31.12.999. But instead the hierarchy was overwritten and only the latest change is refelcted.
Can someone please help in figuring out the issue. Should some change be done in ECC for time-dependency to reflect.
Thanks
Achyuta

Hey Achyuta,
The hierarchy needs to be time dependent in the source system and then the datasource for the time dependent hierarchy would then need to be replicated again.  You'll know if it's right after the replication if you view the datasource in BW and the Data is Time Dependent check box is checked on the General Info Tab.  Once the datasource is time-dependent, loads should populate the DateTo and DateFrom as you expect.  Consult your R/3 expert if you need help over on the source system side.

  • Change to cost center in time dependent data. Can I rerun depreciation YTD?

I need to change the cost center in October (Period 10) Period 9 and prior are already closed.  I thought that since I put the Interval for the new cost center as 1/1/11 that it might do and adjustment in October reversing the depreciation posted for the old cost center and put the YTD depreciation in the new cost center, but it did not.  it only posted the current month depreciation to the new cost center.  Is there any way to do this?  Thank you very much.

Hi.  Thanks for your reply.  I went into the ABAA screen, but I am afraid to process this transaction because I do not understand what is going to happen.  I cannot find any documentation that explains this.  I have already changed the cost center on the asset and run depreciation.  It posted the current month depreciation to the new cost center, but it did not make a correction to the prior periods.  I am not creating a new asset, i just want to reclass the prior months depreciation (in the current year) to the new cost center.  In case it will help I provide some details:
Asset acquired 5/1/11 Depreciation posted to Cost Center A From May - Sept $1,796.06 per month x 5 = $8,980.30
Before posting Oct depreciation, I went to Master Data - Time Dependent - and changed the cost center as of 1/1/11. So I now have two intervals: From 1/1/1900-Cost Center A, and From 1/1/11 - Cost Center B. I then ran the regular depreciation for Oct. It posted Oct Depreciation of $1,796.06 to the new Cost Center-Cost Center B.  My total YTD depreciation is now $10,776.36, but it is split between two cost centers.  I need to move the depreciation from Cost Center A to Cost Center B for the prior months.  If it was a Journal Entry, I would do it as follows in the month of October, so my YTD numbers would be correct.
Debit Depreciation Cost Center B   $8,980.30
Credit Depreciation Cost Center A $8,980.30
Then when I run my October numbers it would show zero depreciation in Cost Center A Year To Date (and negative 8,980.30 in month of October)
If i follow the steps you propose, what would be the result?  Thanks so much!

  • Time dependent cost center hierarchy

Does anyone know how to turn the R/3 standard cost center hierarchy into a time dependent hierarchy?
I can change the hierarchy of infoObject 0costcenter to be time dependent.  The datasource 0COSTCENTER_0101_HIER does not fill the validfrom validto fields.
I would prefer not to have to load the hierarchy from a flat file.
    Thanks,
    John

Any changes to the R/3 standard hierarchy are stored in tables CDHDDR,CDPOS. This can be seen from tcode OKEON ==>selected cost center==>History==>Change Document==>Standard hierarchy Area.  This screen shows the validity of a cost center as it pertains to a node.

  • How to delete a cost center hierarchy

    Hi all,
We are having a issue regarding the cost centers. The cost centers have been assigned wrong cost center numbers. Now the client wants a set of new cost center numbers to be used in the system. In order for that to be done I thought may be if I can change the cost center hierarchy that has been assigned to the controlling area in OKKP transaction we can assign new cost centers to the new hierarchy and solve the problem.
But the system does not allow us to assign a different cost center hierarchy from the already existing one when cost centers are assigned to it.
My issue is how to delete the cost center hierarchy.
If that is not possible how can we remove the cost centers assigned to the cost center hierarchy ( is this possible)
Last question can we delete the transaction data posted to cost centers.
Points will be assigned to all the replies.
    Thanks,
    Sarada

    Hello Sarada,
If the requirement is to track new cost centers only going forward, then you may need to create new Cost Centers, block old cost centers. Create a new node in the hierarchy saying "Old-do not use".
If the requirement is to have the history transactions reflect the new cost centers as well, then you will need to undertake a project for SLO (System Landscape Optimization) which will replace this data at table level. This is a major project in itself and the programs are proprietary to SAP.
    Hope this helps.

  • R/3 Cost center hierarchy not shown in BW

    Hi,
we have an issue regarding the transfer of a certain cost center hierarchy into the standard info object 0COSTCENTER. We have several hierarchies in place in the R/3 system and we transfer each of them daily via info packages into BW.  When you look into the info package you can press button "Hierarchies from OLTP" and afterwards you can choose via radio button the dedicated hierarchy to transfer for this specific IP. Since last night one of the hierarchies is "disappeared" it's not shown any longer in the list (and therefore the IP crashed) and pushing the refresh button doesn't help. I am very surprised as this is not a new hierarchy (I just know that it has been changed in R/3 yesterday). What I have seen so far is that there is another hierarchy with a different technical name but with the same description. I know this shouldn't be a problem... Anyway, any hint is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Oliver.

    Update:
The issue has been resolved. I learned that only top nodes of cost center hierarchies can be selected on the BW side to be transferred (A top node is a group that is not present in any other group as a sub-group.). The hierarchy in scope of the transfer has been removed form any other hierarchy in R/3 and now it works.

  • Consolidations Planning using BCS PCtr 'Entire Hierarchy time dependant'

    Hi All,
We are doing CONS planning using BCS Profit Center and this infoobject has the 'Entire Hierarchy time dependant' property and we have two hierarchies one for 2010 and one for 2011.
If  '0PLANDAT' variable used for the 'Key Date' in the Input Ready Query prooerties, would it take care of bringing up the hierarchy appropriately depending the Plan Year (Fiscal Year) or the period chosen for the planning.
Is there some place I can find the documentation and the logic for the '0PLANDAT' SAP Exit variable?
    Thanks in advance,
    - Shashi

    Hi,
a key date in BW is the date that will be used to read time dependent objects as master data attributes or time dependent hierarchy nodes. These time dependend objects all have valid_from, valid_to fields, when the key date is in the interval the corresponding record will be taken. Observe, that a key date has no link to a time characteristic here.
The idea of 0PLANDAT is to have a variable the can be used in the customizing of time dependent objects in the planning model as characteristic relationships and in a query. The 0PLANDAT settings can be found in the planning specfic settings for an InfoCube in the planning modeler; to use 0PLANDAT in the query ensures that the same key date is used in the planning model and in the query.

  • Ambiguity problem in a cost center hierarchy

    Hello,
I have a problem with duplicated values in a cost center hierarchy.
There is a cost center that appears in two different groups and I am not able to delete none of them
It appears an ambiguity problem because of this, how could I solve it?

    Hi
In  KSH2   select  the   cost center and  then  click on   REMOVE.  But this  will not work  for  a std hierarchy as explained below.   SO   THE SOLUTION IS  TO  DELETE THE  COST CENTER MASTER DATA AND THEN   RE ASSIGN IT IN ' KSH2'
    1)   The  REMOVE function contradicts the fact that each master data must
always be assigned to one node in the standard hierarchy.
    2)   The DELETION of objects requires time-consuming checks of master data,
especially if entire subtrees are to be deleted. Therefore it is not
      supported here.
If such a case arises you should delete the master data
      using master data maintenance.
    Thanks

  • Restore standard cost center hierarchy

    Hi All,
A user modified the standard cost center hierarchy in productive system. Later I modified it in development system and transported this new version by a change request to productive system. I used the transaction OKE6 to include 'standard hierarchy', 'cost centers' and 'cost center groups' in the chnage request. When the change request was transported to productive system it deleted the modifications done by the user, it means some cost centers with cost allocations were deleted. We need to recover that version(the one with user modifications in productive system), do you know how can we do that?.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Miguel

  • Error in Cost Center Hierarchy

    Dear all,
When I delete all cost center in standard hierarchy by tcode OKC4, some cost centers still appear in cost center hierarchy with activation status is "red". How to delete all cost center with "red" activation status in this case ?
When I check these cost centers by tcode KS02 or KS03, the system raises information "No data exist"  but when I create cost center with the same code by tcode OKEON, the system raise error "Cost center already exist".
So how to solve the problem ? I want to clear all the cost center in standard hierarchy and create again in DEV (No transaction data existed).
    Thank you very much,
    Dat Lam

    Hi,
Go to OKEON - Menu - Extras - Hierarchy-Master Data - Comparison and see what's the output. Genrally, you are not supposed to delete cost centres from the standard hierarchy.

  • Batch not determined in MIGO-Goods Issue for cost center

    Hi,
We are using Batch Determination while posting Goods Issue to cost center. However, when we enter * in the batch field system does not propose the batches.
    We have done following settngs
Strategy type ME01 which is SAP standard
    Batch search procedure - ME0001
Search procedure ME0001 is assigned to movement type 201 in "Allocate IM Search Procedure/Activate Check"
Sort Rule - 01 using charecterstics (ascending)
    Class - BATCH_MASTER created
Characterstics - Size, Shape, Color (No table or field are maintained in Addional Data) assigned to this class.
Material is maintained with classification and batch management active.
Master Data - Search Strategy is maintained using t code MBC1 for stratefy type ME01 (Key combination Movement Type/Plant/Material). Selection criteria - Values maintained for characterstics. Sort Rule - 01
Now when we are issuing goods to cost center and enter * in batch field, system is supposed to suggest the batches (material is in stock and batches are available). However, system does not give pop up.
Am I missing something? Where is the batch determination button as system is giving message to use button?
    Shekhar

    Thank you for the answer.
It gives only one batch and not all the batches. Why it could be?

  • Cost Center Hierarchy in Parameter

I am creating a program to get CO related data from the underlying database and display in ALV.  I want to have a parameter for Cost Center Hierarchy so if they want data pertaining to a certain set I can select all cost centers in a certain heirarchy.. I am unfamiliar with the tables used for this and not sure the type to use for my parameter and how to get the cost center heirarchies in the dropdown list for the parameter.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

You find hierarchy for each KOSTL in csks-KHINR. Hierarchy itself you can find in SETHEADERT-SETNAME. For building a dropdown I believe you are able to search for relevant post

  • Copy cost center hierarchy to profit center hierarchy: is this possible?

    Hi,
I would like to know or I can copy my standard cost center hierarchy to my standard profit center hierarchy. If so, how to proceed?
    Thank you in advance,
    Eric van Zundert.
Ps. We do not have enterprise organisastional active.

    Hi Eric,
No standard tool exists for this operation. However, if you really prefer to do it manually, you can pull a trick. You can export your cost centre hierarchy to TXT file, correct there certain parameters (change BCCSS to  BGLPCT, etc.) and then import it as profit centre hierarchy.
