Issue: MDT Litetouch is automatically making my drives GPT

I know GPT is better but I do not need MDT Litetouch automatically formatting my drive as it due to my enterprise encryption software does not support GPT, only MBR which is the old standard. If someone could please point me into the correct direction
of changing this in MDT Deployment Workbench would be greatly appreciated as I am having problems finding a solution on the Google.

I am using the USB method. Which I have been enable UEFI in bios to boot to it ( which if there is another way that would be a great suggestion.) Is having my image on USB what is causing GPT?

Correct except that at the end of encode it stays as two sep files..with
this proj. I narrowed it down vrb1 vs vbr2.. its a two hour project. I just
attempted a second attempt at vbr1..it should work. I will keep everyone

I had the same or similar problem after installin iTunes 11 on my Acer Laptop with Vista. The new iTunes ran but I
completely lost access to my CdRom/DVD drive. Error Code 19 was displayed in Windows Device Manager. Found out
this is more widespread of a problem than expected. After trying several forum recommended fixes, the Only thing that gave me back my CdRom drive was doing a Windows Restore to a date prior to iTunes 11 install. I got my drive back but it also restored me to the prior 10.0.7.21 vers of iTunes which no longer worked due to missing files. iTunes help
recommended a Reinstall. I am reluctant to do that for several reason. That's where I am at for now until I find out if there are any other risks for using iTunes 11 vs. Registry Errors vs. Losing access to my CdRom drive. Brad

Automatically mount flash drives in AwesomeWM

In Gnome when you put in a flash drive, it automatically mounts it in /media, and it's owned by me - so you can open a file on the flash drive in a file manager, the file isn't read only. Is there anyway to do this in AwesomeWM?

You could just run thunar as a daemon and use it's volume management system.
pacman -Sy thunar thunar-volman
Start it with:
thunar --daemon
It will automatically mount removable drives.

Hello. I am installing Oracle 11gR2 RAC using 2 VMs (rac1 and rac2) whose OS are Oracle Linux 5.6 in VMPlayer.
I downloaded Oracle Linux 5.6 Media Pack for x86_64 (file name V24479-01) from https://edelivery.oracle.com/linux.
I have installed OEL 5.6 for VM rac1 and done the follows:
1) install rpm and oracleasm packages for rac1.
2) edit /etc/hosts to set up IP addresses for eth0 and eth1 for rac1 and rac2.
3) edit eth0 and eth1 for rac1 by using command [root@rac1 \]# neat
But when boot the OS, I see "initializing Oracle ASMLib driver: FAILED".
When configure Oracle ASM library driver by running the command:
[root@rac1 /]#/etc/init.d/oracleasm configure -i
Its output "initializing Oracle ASMLib driver: FAILED"
I think the reason is the OS cannot initialize Oracle ASMLib driver. My question is:
Do any folk understand how to solve the issue "OEL 5.6 boot Oracle ASMLib driver: FAILED" ?

I have chosen to use red hat kernel for 64-bit. I run the following command:

My questions are:

MDT LITETOUCH Win 7 Deployment

Hey Yall,
My windows 7 deployment via MDT Litetouch sometimes tries to login as domain\correctusername which it should be local\correctusername while going through the task sequence. I have to manually login during some installations to the local admin so the task
sequence will keep rolling. I believe this has something to do with it is pulling GROUP POLICY after one of the reboots and it is interfering with my deployment. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

MDT needs to login as a local administrator in order to complete installation.
By default MDT will setup the AutoAdminLogon to use the local administrator account.
If you disable, or join a domain that disables the local administrator account through group policy, that will break MDT installation.
The recommended solution is to create a OU that does *not* have any group policies that break AutoAdminLogon to the local administrator account, and join to that OU first. ... THEN... move machines some time later from the first "install" OU to the full
OU.

My CPU fan defaults to 3000RPM. I can rev the fan higher with 3rd party Fan controllers, but no lower than 3K.

OR you can short out the original temp sensor, to make the fans rev at quieter speeds.
You can also install an optical temp sensor in place of the old one, it will still read temps and adjust the fans accordingly, just not as good as an internal sensor.

Is there a way to run dot_clean automatically on flash drive, before its ejected? If not before its ejected, when its inserted?
I have a PC and I dont always remember to run it before transferring between my Mac and PC.

just reformat the flash drive using disk utility.

MDT deploying boot files to wrong drive

We are experiencing a intermittent problem when deploying to hardware using media since upgrading to MDT 2013. Periodically when techs attempt to apply a image litetouch boots, runs through the initial steps, gets all the way past applying the image/applying
unattended, then reboots. The problem is when the machine reboots instead of booting into Windows and finishing configuration we get a black screen that states "An
operating system wasn't found. Try removing drives that don't contain an operating system". After going through logs and looking further into this it appears MDT is putting the image on the correct internal drive but from some reason the actual
boot folder is overwriting MDT's boot folder on our external media. Also the MININT and _SMSTaskSequence files are being put on the external media instead of C: (I'm not sure if that is normal behavioror not).
Here is my smsts.log if it's any help. If there are any other logs I should include please let me know.

No we always use USB hard drives. So far the only possible connection I've found is our 1 TB external drives seem to be having trouble. The ones we have that are smaller seem fine. Also even with the 1 TB drives it's not a constant. The drive may do 4-5
computers no problem, then on number 6 it just breaks.
The only thing we changed in our process was the upgrade to MDT2013, everything was fine while we were on 2012. I know flash drives are the preferred method for deployment, and we will make the switch if we have to. We would prefer to stick with the HDD's
however because it gives us room to keep other boot utilities, tools, and perform data backups as well as image all on one drive.

Unfortunately you've discovered too late how important it is to maintain an up-to-date backup of your iTunes library (and all other data of value). You could, before wiping the drive, have considered making use of a commercial data recovery service that could (albeit at considerable cost) have extracted your library from the hard disk, even if virus infected.
In the absence of that option, you will need to restore the content of your library from its original sources:
Depending on your location, you may be able to re-download any iTunes Store purchases that are still available on the Store
Likewise, most digital purchases from Amazon (including auto-rip copies of purchased CDs) should be available from the Amazon Cloud and via the Amazon Music application - the same may be true of other commercial sources for digital downloads

The specific situation that you describe regarding the music imported from your friend's external HDD suggests that either the source is badly organized and/or originates from a source other than iTunes (other media players may use alternative tags for information like artist, title, album, etc. that are not wholly consistent with how iTunes handle these). MDT 2012 Deployment by USB Flash Drive Problems

To test MDT, I'm trying to deploy Windows 7 Enterprise trial to a new ASUS x44H laptop via USB key and not use the network for anything until it needs to join the domain. I have copied the media files (about 4 gigs of data including Windows 7 -64bit
WIM, drivers, applications etc. ) to a bootable USB key and booted the computer and have seen problem after problem.
It boots fine from the key, but the first issue I see is that it that a prompt pops up asking for a deployment share by UNC path. Why is it not looking at the USB key?.
I entered the path to the sever share and clicked next since it was defaulting to "X:\Deployment" and it would not continue if left as is.
It then needed domain credentials to the network share. Again why does it want to look for the network at this point? It should not need any credentials until Windows is deployed and it is joining the domain and I had domain credentials specified
already in customsettings.ini.
How can I point it back to the USB key so it stops trying to use the network? I don't think the NIC driver is going to work until Windows is installed with the NIC drivers, because I see no lights flashing on the NIC port from just the WINPE boot from USB.
I entered the credentials anyway just to get past the screen.
Minor issue is that it renamed the PC as expected, but still showed a confirmation prompt instead doing it silently and moving on.
The next thing is that it said it needed a reboot and I allowed it and it booted back into the old Windows 8 Consumer Preview operating system instead of formatting the drive and starting the install. I can't see any error messages or log of what
happened.
If I force it to boot back into the USB key and start over it says there is a deployment already in progress in an unexpected state.
Does anyone have any ideas what would cause these issues?
I would like to make a deployment that runs with minimal prompts and using the USB as it's source for all the files it needs and not attempt to reach the network for anything until after Windows is installed along with all the drivers.

Like Imperfect1 told, the best way to do that is to:
create a new folder under "Out-of-Box Drivers" called "WinPE", import in that folder any drivers you need (network, mass storage, usb, etc...).
create a new "Selection Profile" called "WinPE Drivers" and select the previously created "WinPE" drivers folder.
in Media properties, under "Windows PE" tab, select your platform (x86 or x64) and select "WinPE Drivers" profile under "Drivers and Patches".
update media content and burn your ISO on a USB key
It should work ;)

Automatically connect mounted drive as guest

I have mounted my NAS network drive to my Mac but I don't have a registered user account. I'm just a guest so each time I reboot a window for each mounted drive pops up asking for a password. Any way I can tell it to automatically connect as guest?

Ever since the Airport Extreme 802.11n exists i used wireless HD storage, and lately used it as Time Machine backup. Never had (fingers crossed) any issues, the Airport Setup is quite handy to setup access and password for USB connected HD on the AP Extreme.

Issue with file upload to Microsoft One Drive

My uploaded file(25.6MB, 44 seconds long) from Adobe Premier Elements 9 will not play on Microsoft One Drive(MOD),
Is anyone else have problems using MOD?
I created the file I uploaded on my new HP Envy Computer(x64 proccessor with 8 gig of RAM).
I created this file on the Adobe Premier Elements 9 software, saved to my computer, and then uploaded to MOD.
I created it from my project by choosing the MPEG category Then within the MPEG category I chose the HD 720p 30 footprint as the smallest and fastest option to upload.
. I saved as a file in a folder on my computer. Don't know if this makes a difference but when I right clicked I chose "Windows Media Player" as the "Opens With" option.Don't think "Opens With" option really matter? Doesn't MOD automatically convert the file to whatever they want to use to open the file anyway?
So that is the file I uploaded to MOD using the MOD "Upload" button.
When I clicked to play, after waiting for what I assume was a "buffering process" , I got a "Sorry, This video can't be played." message.
Also, FYI , i uploaded to Google Drive . It plays but pauses to buffer about 30 seconds in.
You Tube is the another drive I uploaded to. It plays perfectly there. But I would preferr to play on MOD. You feedback appreciated.

I have a MBP from late 2009. It works fine in all regards except recently, when an icon is grabbed by the built-in track pad, I can't drop the item and have to shut my computer down to resolve the issue. How do I reinstall the driver for the trackpad?

Ok, I thought the subject line was the extent of what I could type. My trackpad has been working fine for over two years now. But recently if I accidently (or intentionally) drag a picutre that is highlighted on any website, the cursur never lets go of the image and all "clicking" capabilities become useless. It even manages to lock up the rest of the computer, such that trying to restart manually doesn't work. I litterally have to hold the power button till the MBP turns off and reboot. I have looked for a way to unistall and reinstall the driving, but I'm either redirected to a non-Apple website or else I'm directed to the new "Retina" MBP section of the Apple store. I don't have any other mouse that is connected to this computer, so there shouldn't be any weird interference between mutiple mice.
Is there an official applie support section where I can either download the proper driver to simply resinstall the orignal 2009-2010 MBP trackpad driver, or a way for the "Software Update" under the Apple logo in the top file bar to acknowledge this problem an automatically patch it? I'd rather not have to go into an Apple store just to get this quirk (which doesn't happen 100% of the time anyways) figured out. I simply don't want it to occur while I'm in the middle of a larger project and then get stuck being unable to save a document and I have to forcefully restart my entire computer (nuisance aside).

Multiple issues on '09 MacBook Pro- battery, DVD drive, slowness, browsers

I have a mid '09 MacBook Pro 2.53GHZ, 4GB RAM, running OS 10.5.8.
Recently, it's begun exhibiting random bad behavior, starting with slow behavior in Finder processes and, especially, very slow behavior and crashing in multiple apps, especially browsers (or maybe i just notice it there more because i use them the most). Then, all of a sudden the battery, which previously was fine and held a good charge, showed as Not Charging. I still have Applecare and called them, and they had me reset the power manager, which restored the battery to charging, but now it runs out quickly and often has strange readings, such as saying it has 6 minutes of charge when it also reads as 99% charged. The readings often have nothing to do with the actual state of the battery.
It's also suddently running a lot hotter and the fan is turning on more often, tho some of that may be that i now have both Google Chrome and Safari running at all times (i switch between them depending on which isn't hanging at any given time- both will crash with crashes of basic plug-ins, or simple non-responding, even tho Chrome is a newly installed app)
In case of system corruption, i decided it was a good time to upgrade to OS 10.6, which i simply hadn't gotten around to (a 10.6 disk came bundled along with with the original 10.5 disks with the Macbook when i bought it in late '09, probably an upgrade, it was right when they were switching over)... but i discovered that now DVDs won't mount either... so i can't install, reinstall, or even run diagnostics.
In disk utility booted from the internal drive, hard drive "verifies" fine and permissions are fine.
I've got a genius bar appointment the next time i go to city with the nearest Apple store- 120 miles away-
but any suggestions or ideas meanwhile?
the hardware issues- DVD drive, power, battery- make me wonder about the logic board's health.
Or could this still all be from OS or hard drive corruption?
And can i boot the Macbook from its Time Machine backup, which is on a firewire external drive, in order to run diagnostics? Not familiar with what Time Machine can and can't do. Otherwise, maybe i can borrow another mac to install OS from DVD to an open partition that's on the firewire hard drive and try to boot/run diagnostics from that (?). If i do that, should i do it with OS 10.5 (what it shipped with, and is currently running) or is it ok to do it with OS 10.6?
I'm also going to try to run in alternate user account to see if the browser etc crashes are as bad (i did try it briefly and found it still slow, tho not so badly).

Have you tried a SMC reset? Do a google search for more info.
