Issue on How to mimic Deski document from CMS to local machine, pass parameter, execute and save in a mutiple report format then store in a network drive.

Would you know if there's a way to mimic Deski
document from BOXI server(CMS) to local machine, pass parameter, execute and
save in a mutiple report format then store in a local drive or network
drive? Most examples and tutorials in BO XI R2 I've seen are scheduling while drilling report is for web intelligence only and not desktop intelligence.  Please let me know your ideas. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks.

Hi Ted,
Thanks for the reply. The file is not available in the server. Though, I checked CMS and I found an instance in history tab and the status is failed with error below.
            Error Message:
A variable prevented the data provider Query 1 with BANRRD30 from being refreshed. (DMA0008).When I checked my codes, I found out that the object Im using is for web intelligence data provider. However, I cannot find any documentation and example for passing parameter values in desktop intelligence data provider. Any idea on this? You think this is not suported by Report Engine SDK?Thanks.

  • A deski document from Infoview opens with XIR2 instead og 6.5.1

    Hi all,
I have in an installation BO 6.5.1 and XI R2, when trying to edit a deski document from Infoview (6.5 version), somehow it is being opened with
the XIR2 version of Deski and it gives an error. How can I change it so it is opened with BusinessObjects 6.5?
The .rep are associated with the older version, I don't know if I have to take into account anything else.
    Thanks

    Juan,
It is because of Windows file association. Since XI was installed last, Windows associates .rep files to be opened with XI Reporter. Below is a topic that might help:

  • How can I move documents from my iPad to the cloud?

I am trying to move documents into the cloud from my iPad. Every time I select the upload icon, only my photos show up. How do I find my documents?

    squirrels,
To save a single PDF document on iPad to Acrobat.com (i.e. one document at a time)
Open a PDF document in Adobe Reader for iOS.
Tap anywhere in the document to display the toolbar.
Tap this icon in the toolbar.
    Select "Save to Acrobat.com".
If prompted, sign in with your Adobe ID.

  • How to attach a document from cloudOn to my online application form or website

How to attach a document from cloudOn to an online application form or website?

You will need an app (web browser) capable of both storing a document and accessing the site's functionality sufficiently enough to upload a file. Safari can't do this (and I'm pretty certain CloudOn can't either). A couple of options:
iCab Mobile - store documents in the Downloads section and has settings to both change the BrowserID to a non mobile browser to unlock site functionality, and has a setting for uploading files from its storage rather then iOS in general. Its not free, but not very expensive and is a pretty could all around web browser in its own right. I've been using it for quite some time.
iUploader - has both free (trial) and paid versions. I've only experimented with it a bit, but works fairly well. Like iCab, has its own file container that you up load from.
In both cases you would need to transfer your files from the source app (CloudOn, in this case) to the file storage, and then access the website.

How can I copy documents from a Sharepoint On Premises library to a Sharepoint Online library and at the same time preserving their metadata?
I use the Open Explorer Windows to drag and drop the files, but the metadata are not copied. Thanks.

To maintain the metadata you'll need to use one of the third party tools that does this kind of migration.  Metalogix has a product with a free trial that we have used before.  (Don't remember whether the free version maintains metadata or not).

How do I get documents from Mac to iPad?

If you just have a few that you want to view, you can e-mail them to yourself and use the viewer in the mail app to view them.
If you have several or want to save them on the iPad or edit them then you'll need an app. Apple has iPad versions of Pages, numbers and keynote that should sync between your mac and iPad.

Good question - and one that a lot of (business) people would like solved!
Your question prompted me to do some research, and I found this workaround posted by Scott Grossberg:
His solution actually addresses a second problem too - how to attach a document when replying to an email message. In your case you may not need to consider the "reply" aspect - but if not right now, it'll come in useful someday!
I've pasted it verbatim - if it works for you (it does for me) then all credit goes to Scott for solving the problem. There's just one thing I'd add to his solution: you will probably want to rename the message, as by default Goodreader gives it the Subject line: Mail with GoodReader attachments.
    THE GOODREADER OPTION
    1.  CREATE the document you want to send.
    2.  SAVE it to GoodReader (this will require you to buy and install the app).
    3.  Go to your email and OPEN the email thread to which you want to Reply and attach your file.
    4.  COMPOSE your Reply.
    5.  DOUBLE TAP the message.
    6.  TAP SELECT ALL. This will copy the entire email thread.
    7.  OPEN GOODREADER on the iPad and go to the file you want to send as part of your Reply.
    8.  At the bottom of the GoodReader screen you will see an EXPORT icon (it looks like a rectangle with an arrow pointing to the right).
    9.  TAP the Export button.
    10.  TAP EMAIL FILE. Depending on your needs, tap either SEND FILE “AS IS” or “FLATTEN ANNOTATIONS.” This will open a compose message screen with the chosen document already attached.
    11.  TAP in the body of the email screen. TAP PASTE. This will place your composed Reply and the prior email thread into the message.
    12.  ENTER the Recipients’ names in the TO: field of your message.
    13.  SEND your email Reply.
The modified version (= when composing a new message rather than a reply):
1 Make sure that the doc you want to attach is saved in GoodReader
2 In the message you are composing, double tap, select all, and then copy.
3 Open GoodReader and select the file you want to attach
4 Select the export button at the bottom of screen
    5 Select e-mail file
6 Position cursor in body of the email message, tap and paste. You may want to delete the "sent from GoodReader" text that precedes the attachment.
7 Rename your message (as by default it will be Mail with GoodReader attachments)
8 Add the recipient's address in the To field.
Hope this helps! All thanks to Scott for this workaround.

  • How do I retrieve documents from my iCloud that i made in pages

How do I retrieve documents from my iCloud that i made in pages

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Your question is a little unclear, however if you mean how can you retrieve documents you have created on your iOS device on your Mac, then you need to download them at iCloud.com using the web browser (Safari or similar) on your mac.

  • How do I send documents from PC to icloud?

How do I send documents from my PC to Icloud?

What is it then? How and what exactly do i use it for? My i pad says there is not enough storage available so i have purchased more in i cloud. I now want to save some TV programmes and films to i cloud to free up some space but don't know how to... When you are told there is not enough space to download you are prompted to go to settings and to purchase more storage - so it is not unreasonable to assume that this will solve the problem - or am I missing something here? Or is this just a way for apple to get money out of me?
If this is not what it is meant for then what is it meant for? Is it just space to back up files to? If so then surely what i need is stored there - so i can delete the TV programmes from my i pad and grab them from i cloud later?
    Am rather perplexed...

How do I transfer documents from my laptop to my iPad?

Copied from the online help site for Documents 2 .....
    Opening a Document
To open an existing document for viewing or editing, tap the document title in My Documents. If your document is in a folder, tap the folder name first.
    Here is the help site.

While the app description states that you can edit many file types - when viewing the detailed description further down on the app store description page - it really does not specifically state that you can edit Word Files. It lists all the files that you can preview, but doesnt actually address the files that you can edit. It mentions the text editor feature but not the files that you can edit. It's a bit confusing to me IMO.
The online help site does describe editing spreadsheets.

  • How do I download documents from my computer to Ipad?

    How do I download documents
    from my computer to Ipad?

Apple has the iBooks app for compatibility with pdf flies. If you do not have it on your iPad, you can download it for free. My personal preference for pdf's is the free Adobe Reader app. It has so many more useful features than iBooks, but if all that you want to do is save the pdf's and organize them into collections, iBooks will work fine. So download an app that you can store pdf files in.
In order to transfer pdf files to the iPad, you can do that via iTunes. If you are using iBooks on the iPad, you have to add the pdf's to your iTunes library via File>Add to Library. Then you can select them to sync to the device by selecting them in the books pane of iTunes when the iPad is connected to your computers iTunes. This explains how to add content to iTunes. It works with pdf files as described in this article.

If you use the Adobe Reader app, you can use iTunes File Sharing to transfer the files.
