Issue regarding my Zen Vision M recognising trac

Hi
Ive just purchased a Zen Vision M, which im loving so far, however i have a problem. I've transfered all my music over to the player, but i have a very large folder of songs called 'Unknown' which has a mass of songs inside. Can anyone tell me why this is? The only thing with the tracks in this folder i've been able to determine is that they have no id3v tags, but i thought the Vision M read id3v2 tags? If this is the case then i will have to update the tracks, but was hoping there might be another explanation. Thanks in advance.Message Edited by Ninjabachelor on 0-27-200705:06 AM

The problem is that i do have the album names on the tags, but still some things come up as unkown, it shows the artist and album as unkown in the Creative Mediasource Organizer, when it clearly shows the correct fields filled in with Tag & Rename. Please see the attatched screenshot, as you can see there the artist and album fields are filled in, but on my Zen this album is thrown into the unknown folder. I just find it strange that it's only songs without id3v tags, there isnt any option to change between the 2 as to which the Zen reads is there?

  • Serious Issues with Creative Zen Vision M 3

This all started when I was fast forwarding through a track and it freezes. So, I did reset and it's in recovery mode, whereas usually it will just restart again. So I tried turining it on and off and was still stuck in Recovery Mode. Tried plugging it into the computer, the computer doesn't recognize it. I did everything the website told me to, but my computer will not recognize that it is plugged into the usb. When I have it docked it will not let me do anything at all. I tried to clean it up and it stays in "scan disk" for hours,I tried to format it, knowing it would erase everything but hoping it would fix, and when I tried to format it, I got a message saying "harddisk problem", when I rebbot it simply reboots back to Recovery Mode and the other option I have is reload firmware, and it prompts me to start updating firmware, but my computer won't even recognize that it is plugged in , in the first place, so I am at a loss with what to do next. The best help Creative can give me is email support. As most of you probably have found out there is no technical support phone number, only for returns/exchanges. I am using Windows Vista if that makes a difference, which it probably does since nothing seems to work on Winows Vista, and when I look at My computer, it shows that the device is present, but yet I can't access it through any media source or when trying to install this firmware? garbage. Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thank you in advance. Sarah

  • Firmeware issues with Creative Zen Vision:M

My creative Zen vision m 30g had started playing up, songs were being played super fast, or not being played at all, it would also go to FM radio randomly. The first step I took was to format the player and put my music back on, but the problem persisted. I then decided to do a clean up, but again the problem still persisted. I finally decided to reload the firmware, I first downloaded from the site, but when it had got to the final stages it took me to connect my player, but my player was actually connected!
I then downloaded the Creative MP3 player recovery tool, it detected that I had a creative vision Zen me but it told me in the final stages again that my player wasn't connected. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Topstarxx,
It would be advisable to get in touch with support so that they can help you with this.

  • Regarding the Zen Vision M: Series Media Explorer.

For some reason, whenever I click on it, it gives me an error message saying, "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Assocations control panel."? What can I do to get it to start working again?

Hi, is the problem occuring while your zen is docked to your computer ? I guess so right ? What I would do would be to uninstall everything from the computer, and reinstall again. Maybe you just happened to delete or misplaced an important file that now prevents it from working correctly. If you have a windows xp, you can also try to "restore" your computer back to a date where everything was working fine.Otherwise than that, I don't know anymore !Good luck, let us know if it worked !

  • 2 questions regarding the zen vision

    Hey everyone, here goes:
. I noticed that when i look at the trtack time while playing a song, the track time sometimes freezes up. for example, im at :5, then 6: then all of a sudden im at :8 already. The audio i being played brilliantly, its just the track time thats confusing me.
    2. Is there a firmware version that will allow you to display album art full screen when you press the touchpad. On the ipod pressing the circle in the middle shows rating, and then album art. I wish the vision m would have this function. any ideas?
    many thanks

Despite the fact that the first segment you posted was a statement and not a question at all, i'll try to take a jab at what you mean. This also happens on my device. I love the device but it is all the little things that scream for a large firmware overhaul, which it seems that in this life, Creative will not ever provide. Currently my device is experiencing the Black Screen of Death and I am heavily disappointed with Creative. Concerning your second question, I do not believe this feature to be available.

  • Startup issue with a Zen Vision

The problem I am having is that my player will act as though it starts up and the blue power light will come on, but there will be nothing that shows up on the screen. If I press the reset button the same thing will happen. I can plug the player into my computer and it will recognize it, but eventually will shut down. I see no display at all and none of the buttons seem to work on the blank screen.
I use the 30 gig model bought last August. It has been updated to the latest firmware two or three weeks prior to this situation happening. I'm quite sure I've browsed around to any information I've found relevant on the forum here as well as the Creative official FAQ page. I am just unsure of what the problem would be - and what step to take with it to get it operational (if possible).
Any help or information would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you in advance -

Edit: I just noticed that this seems to be the same problem Kee has in the thread found here:

  • A really annoying problem regarding the Zen Vision M 30 g

When I go to the creative media?program it says that I don't have a player plugged in. I've done the system registry editing for the USB that was on the support page, but that doesn't work either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have Windows Media player 0 installed at the moment but I'm going to try to get the th version installed when I get home. Last time I tried to get it to install it wouldn't for some reason,?but I'm going to?look into that problem. I don't think this is related to the Windows Media player though.

  • Zen Vision M: Frustrat

I am experiencing some issues with my Zen Vision: M 30 gb. It seems to have a mind of it's own. When I turn it on, it will pick a random song and speed through it. Sometimes it will stop and play another one, and speed through that one as well. When I plug headphones into the jack, it will shut off. It will also go to the radio where it will freeze. It does this all by itself- I don't touch any of the buttons. I have reset it several times, and formatted the dri've. Nothing has worked. I am assuming my best bet is to send it in for repair, but if anyone has anything else I could try I would greatly appreciate it.

it sounds like a major software or hardware malfunction, contacting creative and getting a replacement/repair would be your best bet.

  • Creative Zen Vision M 60GB no longer recognised on Vi

Im running vista home premium and have had no problems with Zen Vision M 60gb until now. When connected to my PC, the player lights up but does not begin charging as normal.
In addition, my PC will not recognise the player, only saying I can 'safely remove a USB mass storage device'.
Any ideas? - I cant get into the player as the battery ran down (hence why I was trying to charge it in the first place!)
    Thx

Do you have a wall charger for the player? If you do use that instead of the usb from the computer. Also it may take a day or to to charge if the battery is really drained. A good charger to use if you have one is the wall charger for the PlayStation Portable. Radio Shack should also have one you can use for it also.

  • Video conversion issue for zen vision m 3

hi all im brand new to the forum. i seem to have 2 issues.firstly i cant find any free software to convert dvd to a file format supported by my zen vision m.anyone have any ideas?secondly (and this is the big one), i am really disappointed with the video feature of my vision.i had a zen micro before and thought it was fantastic.software was great, menu system was great.so when it was time to upgrade there was no question it was going to be a creative again.but when it comes to the supposedly supported video file formats i feel i've been duped.if i use the video converter in the software (for avi from my camera to wmv)?it tells me theres no audio.it wont work with mp4 files at all.that just freezes my zen.why do they claim it supports mp4 when it doesnt ?has anyone got this problem too?i have the latest firmware upgrade so it cant be that. thanks folks

I use AVS Video Converter from http://www.avsmedia.com/. I think it costs about $30 if I remember right. It converts practically?everything that isn't protected. They even have presets for the Zen Vision, although not for the Vision:M or Vision:W. However, it lets you easily make your own presets. The program is fast and very easy to use once you learn it. However, there is a bit of a learning curve. It has a good, simple interface but they don't hold your hand. The help is also very good. I've been using it for about 2 years and I'm glad I have it. By the way, I'm a customer of theirs and I don't get anything out of posting this. Barry?

  • ZEN VISION:M Multiple Artist Directories/Album Art Issues/e

I recently bought a Zen Vision:M (got talked out of the IPod) and for the most part I'm very happy with it. However these two small issues are so irritating that they make me want to get rid of it.
Firstly a few artists on my player have multiple directories/folders. Some have two, some have as many as fi've. I am extremely particular about my music so I know that they are properly tagged and the artist name matches exactly. It only does this with when I add media with the zen media explorer, however if I use any other program to add files, such as windows media (don't tell anyone that I used that terrible excuse for a media player!) or MusicMatch (my preferred choice), my album art won't display. I find this interesting, and extremely irritating, considering I used MusicMatch to tag the art to the files). I can only get the art to display using the zen media explorer.
Also is there a way to have the zen organize tracks by name and not into album directories? I refuse to believe that I am the only one who listens to my music by track title as opposed to album title, otherwise I'd just pop the cd in!!! And what is the deal with playing one track plays the whole album? I have to add track to playlist just so it doesn't throw all the songs in there.

Windows Media Player does not write the album art to the ID3 tag of the mp3 file. It keeps the image file separated from the mp3 and makes a link to it.
You need something that can write the image file to the mp3 file itself. Zen Explorer can do this.
As for the multiple artist names showing up. I've never seen that before, and I feel like I need more details. Do the Artist names show up under the Artist Catagory view or the Album catagory view? And I misundertood if you were trying to say this only happens when you transfer music using the Zen Explorer and not Media Playper or MusicMatch since you changed subjects midway through the sentence.
But in a general sense, this would happen if you are spelling the two directories differently. Like for example Tom Jones, Tom Jone, or ( )Tom Jones. the ( ) means theres a space in front of the T. Those would all show up under different album names.Message Edited by TimT on 07-0-2006 2:04 PM

  • Zen Vision Update Issue

I have a new problem with my trusty Zen Vision. It will not allow me to add two different songs with the same name from my PC Library. Is there a way round this ? Thanks

When I rip tracks from CDs I name them this way "track # - song name". So a song would look like "0-Day Tripper" and so on for each track of the album. If there are 2 songs with the same name it wont matter as the filename would still be unique. Eg.. if 'Day tripper' is twice on one album as track 2 and 8, then the file name would look something like '02-Day Tripper' & ' 08-Day Tripper'.
That's how I name the files. I have a feeling if you added track numbers to either the tag or the filename that may sort out this issue.
Are you using the Creative Centrale software to transfer your music?

  • Zen Vision M : 60GB sound issue solv

Hello, yesterday, i?we bought a ZEN Vision M:60GB player and a after playing few tracks, i was looking for a reason of sound hissing a scratching. In this forum i found an answer why,but i cannot find if it was patched or repaired in next firmware For 30GB Zen is available version .6 (-was it patched? in this version) ,for my 60GB is available .20.
    Sorry for my English,
    Thanks for any answers.

I've tried 3 different firmwares(EU and US) ,reformatting player and reloading of firmware, but with no effect. It is a problem with every 6th song on average. Especially it is markable on tracks, which was grabbed from original CD's without any loss sound of quality(like on tracks downloaded from internet)and with full sound spectrum.Very bad on sound with bass.
With enabled equalizer...no matter which preset-it is worse..
On my old mp3 player (Iri'ver ifp999) and with equalizer enabled on U-bass or Rock-the sound on these 'bad' tracks is excellent...full of bass without ANY sound distortion.
On my X-FI without sound distortion too. I'm using these headphones: Koss Porta Pro and Sony MDR-EX5.
    I'm sad about it.
After reading many threads in forum about Vision M-i'm sure, that it's not only my problem. If it is a problem of compatibility od hardware and firmware in ZEN,could it be fixed in next firmware?
    Thanks for answer

Hi everyone. Thanks in advance for your help. I am currently using a Creative Zen Xtra 30 and love it. Have never had a problem with it. I just purchased this Zen Vision M (30 gig), turned it on and it locked up on the Creative startup screen. I've tried everything i could think of, including turning the power off (won't let me unless i drain the battery), using the reset button (just essentially restarts the unit and freezes again on the startup screen) and doing combinations. I don't hear or feel the HDD firing up at all. Is this thing DOA? Is there anything else I can do? Please help! Thank you very much!?Brian
