Issue regarding Web Application Designer (WAD) in SP25 / SAP note 1558066

Dear all,
we recently applied SAP NetWeaver BI SP25. After the update we encountered severe issues in WAD and applied SAP note 1558066, this means I deleted from RSZWMDITEM all records having MDITEMNAME TARTITLE and afterwards updated metadata.
The situation improved a lot, i.e. now I can open web templates or close WAD, but I still cannot drop Web Items in layout tab. I am able to include Web Items in overview tab, but again in layout tab I cannot change the sorting or remove Web Items.
Did anyone come across similar issues and find a solution?

Opening template issue in Web Application Designer (Loading problem)

Hi,
When i open a query in Web Application Designer through the BWdev, it is opening but when i open a query in Web Application Designer through the BWProduction it is not opening, it is displaying a msg box like this
" Operation Failed! NO detailed error information from backend available ".
In the opening of the webtemplate itself it is showing that box when loading mime type imgs.
If anybody knows pls send msg.

Where is the Command Wizard in BEx Web Application Designer(WAD) 7.0

Hi,
I am new to SAP and BEx Web App Designer and am reading through the help about the so-called Command Wizard. I have looked all over the app and I see nothing called a Command Wizard.
I am I missing something obvious or is this buried somewhere in the app?
Based on how much it is mentioned in the help, I would assume it should be somewhere visible.

"Command Wizard". When you design Web template one of your web item called ' Button ' have this ' Command Wizard'.
Go to Button properties -
select internal display-----select list of button---there you will find action Command trigger-----Command Wizard.

Passing parameters from VC 7.0 to BEx Web Application Designer (WAD) 7.0

Hi,
I cannot find any information on how to pass VC parameters to WAD 7.0.
I read the document "How ToIntegrate Visual Composer Applications and BEx Web Templates" but the steps refer to WAD 3.x which is different from WAD 7.x. If I copy - paste the code and make the right changes (like dataprovider etc), I still get many errors since (I assume) the code is DHTML which is not accepted by the XHTML editor in WAD 7.0. In the end of the document they do refer to a more recent version of WAD in which I have to drag-drop a script object from the pane and insert the highlighted JavaScript code. Even after doing this, I'm still stuck with the other code which is not accepted by the XHMTL editor at all.
Is there anybody who tried this already and is able to provide me a short guide? It's quite important that we can get this thing working.

Hi Sven,
the Web API 3.5 also works in 7.0, but is not official supported. The Web API is replaced with the BICS (BI Consumer Services). For Visual Composer you can use the web api I have done this several times. You can use dropdowns and so on in VC and pass the parameters to WAD for example for filling BI variables. For your requirements I can recommend to use the web api 3.5 reference guide for detailed description how to create the url commands.

Working with table data in Web Application Designer (WAD)

Hello experts,
I integrated two queries as analyse web items into a web template. To generate new facts, there is a need to compare data of both tables. Unfortunality there is no possibility to merge both quiries in one single query. It has to be done in WAD.
Is there a way to read the data of the tables (query output as analyse web item) into a data structure, i.e. an array structure of javascript to operate with them?

What you couldn't know, the two queries I mentioned are coming from two different BW mandators (We have the need to work with a two mandator model).
It won't be possible to integrate queries from two different mandators in an APD, right?

BEx Web Application Designer (WAD) not loading all web items

Hello,
I have a rather complex web template with about 20 charts, and 40 drop down boxes and it works great.
The issue I have is when I am in development I usually have to open & close the template about 10-15 times untill all of my web items appear in the properties list. For example, a chart item will appear on my template, but it is not editable because it was not "fully loaded" because it is not in the list of possible web items in the Properties drop down box. Has anyone else experienced this / found a solution??

Unable to open WAD (web application designer) in BW 3.5!

Hi,
when i open WAD through menu path (start->programs
->Business explorer->Web application designer), i am getting the following error!

Please log on to a Netweaver BI 7.x system. System J2E does not have the minimum version required 70005.
I just can`t understand from where i got this BI 7.x system, when my system is BW 3.5 (NW04 platform).
can any one expalin me what is this problem? and suggest me to over come this problem?

Hi Ravi!
I assume that you installed the SAP GUI 6.40 with BI Addin (which contains the BI Frontend for SAP NetWeaver 2004s BI).
In this case, you have a sub folder underneath "Business Explorer" in your startmenu named "Business Explorer (SAP BW 3.x)".
You have to use this version of the BEx Web Application Designer.
If this is not the case, please create a Support Message with all detailed information (backend and frontend versions).

Unable to open WAD (Web Application Designer) 3.x

Hi experts
In my computer I don´t open WAD (SAP BW 3.x)
i make click start-> programs -> Business Explorer-> Business Explorer(SAP BW 3.x)-> Web Application Designer(SAP BW 3.x)
appears following error:
This application requires Internet Explorer 5 or higher
but I have installed the Internet Explorer 8 version
then I do not understand because can´t run the WAD 3.x

Please run the installation check as per note 1229206 and attach the result to the message.This is typically a front end installation issue May be dhtmled.ocx is not registered on this PC This is a typical front end issue where you have to look at your GUI patch and front end patch.I recommend you deinstalling your frontend installation as follows:
- Remove your frontend via 'START' - 'PROGRAMS' - 'SAP FRONTEND' -
   'REMOVE SAP FRONTEND'
- Install the newest frontend and GUI patch and check the installation
   again with sapbexc.xla

Bex Web Application Designer issue: portal communication error

I am working with Bex Web Application Designer in BI7. we are using SP9. When i try to use the Web template its giving below error.
The Requested operation could not be performed due to portal communication error.
its message class is RSBOPLAP and message number is 018 and description is Java System error: An unknown error occured During portal communication.
when i double click the below error details given.
Diagnosis
An error occurred in the BI components on the SAP J2EE Engine.

Contact your system administrator to have the error analyzed in detail.
Procedure for System Administration
Start the Visual Administrator, log on to the SAP J2EE Engine and choose "<J2EE_SID>" ->"Server" -> "Services" -> "Log Viewer".
The file "defaultTrace.trc" includes detailed information about the error that occurred. In Windows, you can find this file in the Log Viewer under "Cluster <computer name>" -> "Server <server number>" -> "<drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\JC<INSTANCE>\j2ee\cluster\server<NUMBER>\log". ". In Unix, the file is located under "/usr/sap/<SID>/JC<INSTANCE>/j2ee/cluster/server<NUMBER>/log".
If the file does not include enough detail about the error, you can increase the log level to obtain more information. To do this, choose "<J2EE_SID>" -> "Server" -> "Services" -> "Log Configurator". On the "Locations" tab page, choose "com" -> "sap" -> "ip" -> "bi" -> "webapplications". Using the selection list on the right side of the screen, you can increase the log level, whereby "DEBUG" represents the log level with the most information. You can save your settings by choosing the "Save" icon. The change to the log level is active immediately. Once you have successfully analyzed the error, you should set the log level back to its default value using the appropriate pushbutton; continuous writing to the log file negatively affects the overall performance of the system.

Web Application Designer standstill since BW SP25 / BI Java SPS 23

Hi experts,
in February we implemented the latest SPs into a SAP development system of our customer.
Since then the BEx Web Application Designer doesn't work anymore for them.
It just hangs up and you cannot even close it.
I will provide the tracefile in an answer to this post because otherwise the post won't be readable.
I've found note 1437358 concerning NullPointerException (but not NullReferenceException) but I doubt that this has something to do with our issue.
Does anybody have an idea what could cause this problem and how it could be solved?
WAD 7.20 is used.

Freeze a Column in WAD (Web Application Designer)

Hi,
I have a web template in WAD that has an analysis_item, which data provider (DP1). The data provider (DP1) has a query attached to it.
My goal is to be able to freeze a column (data column) in the analysis_item.
I looked at all the properties of the analysis_item, but I didn't find any properties that I can use to freeze a column. I saw another discussion thread on Freezing column and rows, but there wasn't an answer for it in that thread.
I even tried to search for a way to freeze a column using JavaScript , and I found the link below using CSS (cascading style sheet) to accomplish the freezing of a column for a non SAP web application. However, I was not able to figure out how to apply this method in WAD and specifically in the analysis_item.

Do you know any method to freeze a column when displaying data via the analysis_item?

Freeze column
On the properties tab select table. goto web item tab. in number of data columns displayed put value as 4. (you can change as per ur need).

For visiblity
you can set visible rows and columns in the specific properties of web item table! Just click the table in the Web Application Designer and than look into the specific properties. Select "Number of Data Rows..." or "Number of Data Columns..." as you wish!
