Issue running Ghostscript on w2k8 x64 Hyperion11.1.2 environment

Hello All,
I have installed Hyperion 11.1.2 on windows 2008 64 bit. I have installed everything but my PDF generation does not work for reports in workspace. It just hangs. I have installed AFPL Ghostscript 8.51 x32 with no success. I have also installed AFPL Ghostscript 8.51 x64 with no success. I found an article in metalink but the solution is not working for me (the issue is exactly the same except they are using w2k3 in the article, we are using w2k8). Please advise.
Knowledge base info:
Applies to:
Hyperion BI+ - Version: 9.3.1.0.00 to 11.1.1.3.00 - Release: 9.3 to 11.1
Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)
HRPRINTING.EXE process hangs on the Financial Reporting Print server. PDF Preview does not render in Workspace.
Symptoms
You are running Financial Reporting on Microsoft Windows 64-bit using a 32-bit version of Ghostscript. When you run a Financial Reporting report and display it in PDF Preview in Workspace, the PDF view doesn't render. It returns a blank page.
If you look in Task Manager on the Financial Reporting Print server you can see multiple HRPRINTING.EXE processes running. The processes continue to spawn until you re-start the Financial Reporting Print Server service or manually kill them.
Cause
Reporting and Analysis services run in 32-bit mode as does the Financial Reporting Print server. The Financial Reporting Print server services are configured to run under the LocalSystem account by default. Since the operating system for the server is 64-bit, the print services running under the LocalSystem account cannot print documents because of the discrepancy between the 64-bit operating system and the 32-bit Ghostscript and Financial Reporting applications.
Solution
You have options to address the issue:
Microsoft Hotfix. Microsoft has created a hotfix for the issue, located at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967663/en-us. Please contact Microsoft Support with any questions or issues regarding the bug and the fix. The Microsoft hotfix is intended to correct only the problem described in this article, and is subject to further testing. Apply the hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem in this article. If you are not severely affected by the problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
Verify your DCOM settings and change the Financial Reporting Print Server Service ownership from "LocalSystem" to a different system administrator account.
To verify DCOM settings, take the following steps:
From the Start Menu, select Run, and type "dcomcnfg" with no quotes.
In the console, under Component Services: Computers: My Computer: DCOM Config, right-click on HARPri and select Properties.
Verify that Access, and Launch and Activation permissions are granted to accounts SYSTEM, INTERACTIVE, EVERYONE, and ANONYMOUS LOGON.
To change the Print Server Service ownership, take the following steps:
In the Services Console, right-click on the Financial Reporting Print Server Service.
Select Properties.
Select the Log On tab, and click the "This account" radio button.
Enter a system administrator login ID and password.

Instead of installing GhostScript under the default <drive>:\program files (x86)\gs, try installing under <drive>:\gs or some directory without a space. I have seen issues with FR and GhostScript when GhostScript is installed in a directory with a space as recently as 11.1.1.3. This goes back to the 9.2 days as well.
You definitely need 32-bit GhostScript.

  • Adobe CS4 Design Center Premium Installation issues on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (RTM)

I am in the process of moving my systems to Windows 7; as part of that I have attempted to install the Adobe CS 4 Design Center Premium version that I purchased on August 16th.  Thus far my experience with this has been disappointing.
My previous system (Windows Vista x64 Ultimate) was running Adobe CS 4 Production Premium version without problems.  Upgrading this to Windows 7 worked just fine (so, Win 7 upgrade over Production Premium worked.)  However, for unrelated reasons I decided to reinstall a fresh version of Windows 7. and the Adobe CS 4 Design Center Premium version in question.
What I observe is a highly repeatable failure during installation, in which as soon as I get to the phase where it displays "Currently installing LangPack(English) for Device Central" and then dies.  Applications are half installed at that point (I can actually use most of the tools, which is why I keep setting this aside to look at it later.)  This was a clean system and Adobe CS 4 Design Center Premium was the first thing I tried to install on the box.
Since that failure, I have tried to install it on a completely different system (my laptop) running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and experienced the same error.  The desktop system is a Dell, the laptop is an HP.
The event log indicates a generic "event ID 1000" error.  The detailed information shows that something returns STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER (0xC000000D) as an exception, which is not handled and the program then dies.

In attempting to find a work-around (since I would like to be able to actually use everything here) I have tried to run the installer in compatibility mode - both XPSP2 and Vista SP2 mode.  Both fail in the same fashion.
At this point I've now installed a post-mortem debugger (WinDBG) and will attempt to capture more information about the specific failure.  I am hoping that someone has seen this issue previously and has found a successful work-around.  I see that others have installed the Master Suite version successfully and I suppose that is one potential solution to the problem that I may explore if i cannot get this package to work properly.

Additional information that I have collected (the wonders of a post-mortem debugger):

Thus, this appears to be related to WoW64 behavior in some fashion.  I am unfamiliar with NtWaitForWorkViaWorkerFactory, so I'm not sure why it would be returning STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER.
So, I've collected a mini-dump for the process, but it's 300MB.  In the unlikely event someone is interested in analyzing it, let me know and I'll gladly provide it.
I'm now wondering if I should re-wipe this drive, install Vista, Adobe CS 4 Design Center Premium and then upgrade to Windows 7.  But that is a lot of effort to work around an app compat issue.

  • Issue running a report from SAP Business One

I have an issue running a particular report from SAP Business One. I am using Crystal Reports Add-On, all of the reports are working fine except one. When accessing the last page of the report or any page from inside the report the followiong error appears in the dialog box:
Error in the File CollectionDate_Branch_wise {609BA059-89AF-41E9-9AEB-28CB16D13852}.rpt:

    Hi,
Do you mean you have a Main report that is written based on SQL Command and there are 8 subreports linked to the main report?
If that is the case, I assume when user select 'Document Type" eg invoice, it will pass that to the subreport and retrieve information?
This is how I will approach it.
    1. Make sure the connection is consistent, if you are using ODBC(RDO) then make sure that is the same for main and subreport. You can check that in Set database connection. Right click on the connection, look at the Properties.  Don't assume that the name is the same, eg: SBO_DemoUS, they are all ODBC(RDO) for instannce.
In Crystal, when you are using different connection, it will just prompts you a warning message and it will still run.
    2. Delete all and only keep one subreport, example AR invoice and see it will still give a problem.
Replace the parameter with a set value in Record selection in subreport and see what happen.

  • Unable to add network printers from Windows Server 2012 R2 to client running Windows 7 Pro x64

New Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard in the environment.  Added print services to it and added five HP printers to it and shared them.  Also deployed the printers via group policy.
Clients are running Windows 7 Pro x64.  The group policy fails to install the printers (error 0x00000002).  We get the same error when trying to manually add the printer from the client side.
From Event Viewer: Group Policy was unable to add per computer connection <<printer share>>. Error code 0x2. This can occur if the name of the printer connection is incorrect, or if the print spooler cannot contact the print server.
    Any ideas on troubleshooting this?
    Thanks.
    -John

    John,
You might try playing with the HP universal driver, that might help you.  Try installing a new shared printer on the server using the universal print driver, then try and connect to it to see if it is any better.
Check these GPO settings to ensure local machines can install the drivers.
    1. Configure the following two Group Policy settings:
Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\System\Driver Installation\Allow non-administrators to install drivers for these devices setup classesEnabled
    2. Device class GUID of printers: {4d36e979-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
Computer Configuration/Policies/Administrative Templates/Printers/Point and Print RestrictionsEnabled
Security Prompts: When Installing Drivers for a new connection = Do not show warning or elevation prompt

I am running windows XP profession X64 edition and it is necessary for me to install and use Adobe reader 9.  Please advise procedure(s)

If you're NEVER going to EVER open a PDF, then no, it wouldn't be necessary. But you're going to be in an extremely rare set of circumstances if that's going to be the case.
Otherwise, you'll need it, and Reader 11 works with XP Pro.

Are there any known issues running MAC OS X 10.8.5 on my IMAC and MAC OS X 10.6.8 on my MAC Server?

To answer the obvious question. No. None that I've seen. But it may depend on what you mean exactly?
Connecting to file sharing service - None that I've seen
Connecting to Open Directory (assuming proper configuration) - None that I've seen
Using the Server's Mail Service (assuming proper configuration) - None that I've seen
I can say the same about anything else the Server may or may not be offering.

Constantly getting the error 'safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding' in good coverage areas in dowtown Toronto and St. Catharines.

  • Is anyone having issues running Rosetta Stone under Lion OS?

Is anyone having issues running Rosetta Stone under Lion OS?  My wife updated her iMac a month ago and now can't run Rosetta Stone.

I was lucky. My new iMac, bought about 3 to 4 weeks ago, came with SnowLeopard. I found that SL could run Power PC software. The first time that I tried to do that an on-screen message asked me whether I wanted to download Rosetta (Yes). Since then my old PPC software has run. Eg., Cinema 4D (which would have cost GBP over 1,000, Toast 7 (GBP80) and others.
Of course, for those whose machines came with Lion installed, you could buy SL and install it (as I did) on an external bootable HD (partitioned according to GUI).
Unfortunately, for those buying a future new computer (that is, say, next year), I think that SL will not run on it (according to Apple's policy of not allowing a machine to run on an outdated OS first offered before the date of manufacture of the later machine - I think I have got that right.)

  • Issues with T420s running win 8.1 x64

I'm having the following issues on a T420s that I recently bought with a fresh install of windows 8.1 x64 + Office 2013, after installing most of the available drivers. The exact product ID is 4171 52U.
    Function keys not working correctly:
    Function-f5-f8 doesn't do anything
Function-f2 doesn't do anything (I didn't test the other power functions)
Pressing the ThinkVantage button doesn't do anything. I'm not sure if it's supposed to, though, since I didn't install that software.
    Function keys that do work:
Function-pgup toggles the light above the screen. I did not test this before installing the hotkey driver.
Function-home/end turn the screen brightness up/down, and show the windows screen brightness slider for a few seconds. This worked before installing the hotkey driver.
Function-scroll lock turns numlock on and off, and shows an arrow/house shape with a 1 inside it on the bottom-right area of the screen. I did not try this before installing the hotkey driver.
Pressing the microphone mute button works and shows an overlay in the lower middle of the screen. This did not work before installing the hotkey driver.
Volume and mute buttons work. These worked before installing the hotkey driver.
I can't use bluetooth. I've seen posts in this forum, and I've tried several fixes to get it working, but it seems to be tied into the hotkey manager somehow (which I installed, but only seems to work on fn-pgun/dn/nmlck/home/end)
How do I disable the previous/next page shortcut keys above the right/left arrows? I keep pressing them accidentally while I'm typing, and my browser switches pages. It's happened twice while I was typing this. I don't see anything wrong with using the alt-key combination for this function...
Missing devices in device manager. I see a PCI Serial Port and a Base System Device. The Solution Center is giving me an alert about this. I believe one of them is the card reader, since that doesn't appear to be working.
The warranty only has 3 days left on it (as of now). I clicked through to your website to try and see what my options are for renewing it, and it presents me with an array of 1/2/3/4/5 YEARS and POST WARRANTIES. However, clicking on these doesn't actually do anything.
    Installed software:
    Conexant 20672 SmartAudio HD
    Intel HD Graphics Driver 9.17.10.3347
    Intel PROSet/Wireless Software 17.13.11
    Lenovo Power Management Driver 1.67.10.02

    Lenovo System Update 5.06.0034
    On Screen Display 6.3.01
    ThinkPad UltraNav Driver 16.2.19.14
    More notes:
All settings in the UEFI-disguised-as-an-ugly-BIOS are enabled, except for all password functions, wake on lan, and the bios-over-lan utility.
If a speccy or other system report would help, let me know.

technically there is no process to upgrade. However a backup is never a bad idea. Things can always go pear shaped.
    Backup info here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_backing-up-a-profile
As the add-on site default to the latest version and the calendar is re release with ever Thunderbird version an upgrade is the simple way forward.

What combination of compile and run time is needed to get around this issue?
See [this|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=56787567] wiki. I think I may not have that wiki updated up to FP2.5, so the FP2.5 msm is here:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100002975182010E/cr2008fp25_mm.zip
    msi is here:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100002975312010E/cr2008fp25_redist.zip
Check the version of the CR assemblies referenced in your project. The use the wiki above to deploy the correct runtime.

  • Another Issue to Add under Win7 x64

Having upgraded from Vista x64 to Win7 x64 siz days ago, all went smooth with Adobe products (there was no re-install of Adobe's products), but for some issues with Photoshop 64.
While working on a large image (more than 1GB in size) using the 64 bit version of Photoshop, I ran into a number of niggley problems as follows:
The clone would not pick up on newly selected targets
Colors changed when viewing the file at full size (it was a 160inch x 86inch size), i.e. reds turned green
Attempting to change from a RGB color format to CMYK, it performed the task, but did not show it as this was happening.  Due to being blind I opened the 32 bit version where everything worked correctly and it was not until checking the folder with explorer that I saw the 64 bit version had done the job.  Needles to say, I am leary of using it's converted file.
Both the 32 and 64 bit version flicker when loading from Bridge, but not when loading as a standalone.
Of interest, with the exeption of OnOne, where the UAC has to be turned off and the system restarted before it would load, all other plug-ins seem to work OK.
I'm not complaining, just sharing my findings in the hope it helps getting these issues remedied.
If anyone has found solutions to the above, I'd love to hear from you.
    Cheers,
    Michael

Your system looks great. I have two 300 gig velociraptor running just sata. I don't run RAID
I don't see where anything could be causing the issues in your system
Here is a windows 7 tweaking guide I used. Pay attention to the magnifier option (second one down). It might hold a clue for you. I don't know if it not playing well with CS4 (or not a issue at all). Just interesting.
Anyways, there are a lot of tweaks that I used to speed Windows 7 up. There are a lot of others on the net too.

  • Issues Installing Windows 7 Pro x64 on latest MBPR

I purchased two MBP Retinas yesterday. One with a 256 SSD and one with a 512. Other than that, no difference. I started up the 512 and created
my bootcamp windows 7 installer with the latest image from MSDN. Tried to install and the windows installer hung at 65% for more than 4 hours.
I then opened the second MBP, fired up bootcamp installed from the same usb stick that i created before and it was up and running in 15 minutes.
I've spent nearly 4 hours now researching the problem only to come up with conflicting information and no dice on any solution. Even tried loading the OS without bootcamp using the drivers needed for the disk controller and still, 65%... is all i get. Anyone had this problem? Keep in mind, I've used bootcamp since its inception and also have tried every combo of the available fixes out there. Did I just get a lemon?

From the OS X side, in the Bootcamp volume, you can see the Windows Installer log. Please check if you can. For clarification, are the rMBPs the current models or are they older?
    1. cd /Volumes/BOOTCAMP/Windows/Panther
    2. Look at setupact.log and setuperr.log
Here is an example of the header of setupact.log...
