Issue syncing playlist with Play Count

I have several playlist that are built around the play count and last played.  Recently I've noticed when I sync up the playlist do not change even though I've played the effected songs and can see the play count and last play date are updated.  I'm running iOS 7.0.4.  Has something changed that requires a new setting to get   playlist to sync up?
New music and new playlist sync up fine just my existing playlist do not update.

What exactly are you trying to do?  You already have another library on the computer and wish to add items from another library?  This is not easily done and meeting all the requirements you have posted.  While it is possible to transfer play count I think it is one of the things that requires Applescripting knowledge.
If you are just wanting to move a library from one place to another that is possible, though still tricky because you start encountering user permissions.

  • Importing Playlists with play count

I've noticed that you can export a playlist and that it is being saved as a .txt document. The problem is that I can't import it back to iTunes. I like to have play counts on my songs, and that is sort of the point here. I've had U2's Magnificent on repeat all day so far and the play count is now 35 or so. The situation here is that I've been sitting on another computer (Windows XP btw) and I got the song today, so my personal library on my iMac does not have it. So the plan was to keep the play count on the song so when I logged on to my own iMac I could just import the song from my memory stick and then import the playlist to the library. But that does not seem to work..

It's not something I've tried myself, but you could use the following script to add to the play count: http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=addorsubtractplaycount
I guess you would first have to read the playlist file you exported to determine what the play count actually is. TextEdit should work.

  • I want to move the location of my iTunes library music files. At present they are all on my time machine . I want to move them all to my imac. Can I do that and keep all my playlists and play counts? Thanks in advance

its 1000s of songs . Originally I used the time machine as a networked drive but it can cause the songs to pause so I'm thinking it would be better to have the songs on the internal imac drive
how can I move the songs so I can re-open iTunes and the playlists (with plays in the 100s) find the song in the new place?

Do you mean on your Time Machine backup drive? Or are you actually accessing the backup? In either case you shouldn't be doing that. If you haven't space on your HDD to store the iTunes Library, then at least put it on another external drive.
Since you did not provide any information about what's actually "on my time machine," here's what you would do. The entire iTunes folder should be stored in the /Home/Music/ folder. Within that folder you would have three folders: imm Media, iTunes, and iTunes Playlists.

  • Missing playlists and play counts

I recently upgraded from a MacBook to a MacBook Pro.  I have everything back up via Time Machine, when I looked into iTunes I discovered all my music was there but my playlists and play counts were missing.  Does anyone know how to recover these from Time Machine?

found the solution it's the file "itunes library.itl" I just pulled that from my latest backup and voila everything is back in place. sweet!

  • How to transfer library with play count and top 25 playlist to another itunes library?

I would like to transfer all my music, with the play count and top 25 most played and other playlists to another iTunes library on a Mac. How would I go about doing this?

  • When I use Home share is it capable to transfer my playlists and play counts, etc?

Hi, i got a new laptop and Im trying to transfer about 60 Gb of music and videos to it from an old itunes account. I really want my playlists, the original dates i added the songs, and the play counts to be transferred as well. Can i do that with home sharing?
I also got an external harddrive and Itunes support said that I could transfer all the info I wanted but when I tried, it didnt work. Any advise?

home sharing will not transfer playcounts, ratings, and original "date added". you can transfer playlists but the actual music files will not be copied to the homeshared library, i.e. they must be already present in the other library.
to do what you want you need a 3rd party tool such as TuneRanger.

you can use the external. assuming all your media files are in the default location, copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music or media folder) to the external, and from there to the exact same location on the other machine.
this will also provide an opportunity to create a backup of your library (generally a good idea in case something happens). you could use SyncToy to keep main library and backup in sync.

  • IPhone 4s does not sync purchased items' play count?

I recently bought a new album using my iPhone, and subsequently synced.
Now, looking at my recently played, I can see items I've played over the last several days, but not this album.
I really want this album to sync play counts as I really like having play counts.
As an iPhone user since the beginning, I'm really starting to get fed up with these silly little inconsistencies.
Has anyone ever experienced this problem, or know how to resolve it?
Would it work to delete from one and sync to the other? If so, which way?
Suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Okay, so, a few minutes after posting this, I gave up and decided to try something.
I deleted the files from my WIndows PC (which I am now using for the main syncing machine).
I then synced the phone to remove them. I subsequently added them back in, and synced them again.
    Presto, play counts syncing.
I have a feeling that when I downloaded from iTunes on the computer, and the phone seperately, somehow iTunes didn't consider the iCloud/iTunes songs as the same, and must have been treating them as separate files, rather than the same.
Now that I've added these "new" files in, it considers them to be the originals I guess!

  • Can playlists and play counts be restored in itunes form my time capsule?

My Macbook pro froze today and when and the force quit menu wasn't showing up so I reset my computer and when I opened itunes it was empty, it looked like I had just downloaded it with all the "helpful" notes everywhere. I was able to restore all the music from my time capsule and I'm wondering if anyone knows if playlists, play counts, can be restored because I have about 1000 podcasts about half listened to and now they all show that they haven't be listened to.

  • Recovering from a hard drive crash with play counts in tact - Is it possibl

I keep all my mp3s on an external hard drive. Well, I did until it just crashed. Luckily, I backed up everything just yesterday to another hard drive so I didn't lose anything. My only issue is this...itunes can't find the files. I guess I can just start from scratch but I don't want to lose my play counts. Is there any way to easily "point" itunes to the back up location? This is more important to me than it should be, I guess.

Anyone having issues syncing iPhone 3GS with Microsoft Outlook 2007?  iTunes says it is syncing but it will not update calendar or contacts.  It just stopped working a few weeks ago.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only person struggling with exact issue.  I've rebooted, upgraded, re-installed, pulled all my hair out as nothing works.
The biggest dissapointment with this thread is that nobody seems to have responded with a solution.
And yes I've managed to pull together enough intellegence to tick the box "sync to outlook" in iTunes - still nothing man.
Definately does not sync from phone to PC and is very hit and miss on PC to Phone.  In other words now running 2 seperate calendars - Not helpful Jan.

  • Issues Syncing  iphone with iTunes

I am having major issues syncing with itunes. When the sync gets to the end and states it is finishing sync the itunes software locks up and doesnt allow the sync to finish. I can typically get outlook info but the music will not even sync 1 song without locking up. Any ideas ?

    Hi ToriOM,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community.
If you change the default calendar to your Gmail® calendar, are you able to synchronize those appointments? Do you have wireless synchronization enabled for your Gmail® calendar? If so, the wireless synchronization would have to be disabled in your calendar options in order to synchronize via USB cable. This KB article provides more information. "What is calendar synchronization with Gmail?" http://bbry.lv/Hv63Rt
Only the calendar that is set as the default on your BlackBerry® Bold™ 9700 smartphone will synchronize with Microsoft® Outlook®. If you wish to synchronize both calendars with Microsoft® Outlook® you can merge the two calendars on your BlackBerry® Bold™ 9700 smartphone into one by following the steps in this KB article. "How to merge multiple calendars into one calendar on the BlackBerry smartphone" http://bbry.lv/JTcocQ
    Hope this helps.
