Alright,
Switched to Verizon FiOS in December and TV and Phone have been excellent. One problem... The internet is terrible. Yes. I'm going to rant about the internet. Router that is supplied is low quality and what's the point of high speed internet when the signal is not good enough to deliever it! Next room over I get half the signal and speed is depleted!
Youtube is another problem. Comcast 25/5 plan could handle 1080p videos and with the 75/35 internet speed I have now can't even handle 240p video. Hooked right up to the router with an ethernet cable and speedtest.net is telling me I have 75/35 speed. With a 75/35 speed don't you think it can handle at least a 240p video clip? Constant buffering all the time. It's not Google. Worked great with Comcast. Common denominator is Verizon FiOS.
Many other people are having issues with YouTube and the supplied router and it needs to be addressed.

  • 'User failed to respond' (error -8) - a serious issue that needs attention

    Based on the various posts here it is becoming increasingly apparent that, in most cases, this is not a user defined issue related to incorrect router settings/port configurations etc..
    There also appears to be a fairly conspicuous correlation between upgrading to Mac OS X 10.4.7/Qtime 7.1.2 and the onset of problems with iChat. It is particularly notable that many people have been using iChat successfully for some time and that it has all of a sudden ceased working despite no manipulation of parameters related to network access (other than those associated with the 10.4.7 software upgrade of course).
    In summary, it appears that that the 10.4.7 upgrade has rendered iChat inoperable (possibly through altering the nature of communication with wireless routers? I have’nt noted if anyone with hardwired connections have been experiencing these problems).
    I am not an expert in this area, so apologies if I am stating the bleedingly obvious (or, at the other end of the spectrum, if I'm completely off the mark). Nonetheless, this appears to be a serious, global issue that is affecting an increasing number of people in the same way despite having different routers, ISP's etc.. and it is something that needs addressing.
    Is there anything in the pipeline on this yet? Or is it still being handled on a case-by-case basis, which, while appreciated, has not been successful in any way thus far.
    Some sort of formal response re: what steps are being taken to correct this would certainly be appreciated by many it appears.

    I strongly agree. I have had nothing but trouble with iChat since I upgraded to 10.4.7 & QT 7.1.2 (error -8, not responding...). I can still chat to other buddies running Tiger, but no longer can chat to buddies on AIM PCs or buddies running Panther -- buddies I have been chatting to for more than a year without a single problem.
    I also tested against the automatic clients on Ralph John's great website: appleu3test01 works fine, rjinwipc doesn't.
    I have tried using the 10.4.7 combo update -- no luck. I have even tried reverting my iChat & its libraries back to 10.4.6 using Pacifist. Same problem. Alas, I am on a group wireless router that I am not allowed to administer, so I can not try any of Ralph's port opening tricks... So, short of reinstalling the entire OS, I am stuck.
    Given the large number of people who are reporting this erorr recently, clearly, the 10.4.7/QT 7.1.2 updates have broken iChat for many, many people. Apple needs to step up and:
    1) acknowledge they have broken something
    2) build a "revert to 10.4.6 installer", as they did with QT a few months ago.
    3) publish an official workaround (if the port opening works)
    4) give us a timeline for a patch ASAP

  • When I run Advanced System Care by IoBit I always get many privacy issues that need to be removed from my computer and I would like to have Firefox stop this.

    I run Advanced System Care 7 by IoBit on my computer daily. It always finds dozens if not hundreds of privacy issues caused by FireFox that need to be removed. I would like to continue using Firefox but will uninstall it if the program keeps causing so much clutter on my machine. I have a Compaq Presario F730US running Vista Home Premium. I do not want FireFox to place ANY cookies or other items on my computer.

    So first off, Advanced system care is a piece of junk. It does nothing to improve computer security or performance, and can actually harm your computer. I strongly suggest you remove any iobit products immediately and find a real anti-virus.
    Second, cookies can be controlled. They aren't placed on your computer by Firefox, but by websites. You would find that no matter what browser you use you will have cookies from websites you visit.

    PLEASE HELP ME
    I have just bought the MSI BToes Bluetooth Dongle and when i tried to install it, it kept saying that the device cannot be found, i downloaded the latest driver and software and that installed it fine. But it asked for the serial number on the dongle but i do not have one. I went to the WIDCOMM website and it asked for the device address, but i cannot gather mine because the software that i need is not installed because it needs the serial number, and the serial number needs the device address
    Can you please help me get out of the never ending circle, PLEASE

  • Blackberry Z10 Issues that need to be worked out!

    I've had the Z10 for a few days now and I've loved the experience aside from a couple of weird issues that have been occuring on my device.
    1. Swiping the lock screen
    The lockscreen works great 80% of the time but there have been some instances when I've tried to swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen to unlock and it just doesn't read anything at all. I'll press the top button to put the phone to sleep and then push again to wake and I still am unable to unlock the phone.  To fix this I've had to reboot the phone and then it will start working normally.  This has happened on a number of occasions.
    2. Hitting the 'Send' Key when Texting
    I love the Z10 keyboard. It seems I am able to type much faster than any device previous though there is a bug here as well. Sometimes I will type out a whole message and when I try hitting 'Send' to complete the message it doesn't actually send! The key looks like it's being pressed down and everything. I can hit it more than once and it won't send the message.  I've tried putting the phone to sleep and opening it again. I've tried closing the window and switching to another app then switching back and that doesnt work either. The only solution is to cancel the entire message (clear the field), exit to Text Messages by hitting back all the way, going back into the chosen text message conversation, and then retyping. This has worked for me.
    I know it seems these issues are resolved through certain methods but I believe our users should not have to go through this type of trouble to alleviate such issues.  Please take a look into these problems and include their resolution in the next software update. Thank you!

    Yes, I mean if I want to write any thing in point then the only way is to write it all in one line, There is no option to replace the SEND key to be "New line" same like the previous blackberry operating systems.

  • An iTunes library issue that needs the brightest of minds..

    I've searched through all of the threads pertaining to this issue and i've yet to find a solid, good answer. Basically, I have a macbook pro retina machine with 250 GB. I have over 100 movies purchased in iTunes as well as multiple TV shows that if I were to attempt to download onto my local disk the shear size would make my HDD .
    I have a 1TB external drive and am just wanting to make hard copies of all of my videos and music on my external. Is there a specific way to use my external disk to not only backup my computer via time machine, but to also use it to backup all of my videos and music. I don't mind watching all of my content via the iCloud but I'm having difficulties creating a library on my external and then using that to download all of my movies. As I can't download all of them on my local disk and then transfer a copy, I need to figure out a way to set up my library on the external disk and then download everything to the external. Do you guys know of any way to do this?
    Just to clarify my questions to you powers at be:
    1. I need to set up a library on my external drive that I can download all of my media to.
    2. I want to still be able to use itunes on my macbook and just watch all of my media/music on the icloud
    3. Can I still use the same drive that has all of my backed up media as a backup through time machine as well?
    I've scoured all of the forums and really all I could find was how to set up libraries on an external disk. None of them ever mention whether or not I can basically use my itunes library locally however I want, knowing that everything I've ever bought is backed up on my external. Any help would be amazing. I appreciate it guys!

    Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder.
    Yes, that's probably what you've seen before but it is how you put your library on an external drive and use it from there.
    Note, having your iTunes library on the external drive and having that as your backup drive means you don't really have a true backup.  You do for minor issues but one of the most common reasons the have a backup is if a drive is stolen or fails.  In yur case if your external is stolen both your original and backup will be gone.  You really need a second external drive.

  • Another bus issue that needs attention

    Every time I copy and paste a schematic sheet for replication which includes predefined bus data names and nets, the paste function keeps clearing the bus name to the default offpage connector and/or bus defaulted increment bus number 1, 2, 3, etc etc. This is very annoying and each page has to have it restored.
    Now if there are bus entries, there should be an autoincrement the value place holder with a suffix number appended. I.E. data1, data2 >>>>>>> dataXX.
    Either way the bus names should NOT be cleared because of a copy and paste, isn't that really the point?
    Also, there should be an autoincrement option for bus net entries, so I have 8 bus entries that start with "address", then I should be able to select all with suffix/prefix assign to bus direct within the vector connect function. (adds to feature list of my previous thread)

  • I keep getting error message that plugin container has an issue that needs to be resolved. Some of my extensions and add ons are no longer loading either. I

    I have uninstalled and reinstalled the plug ins as well as gone to the trouble shooting area for these plugins. I have tried installing firefox again. I also tried using beta 4 and I had the same issue. Also it is taking forever to load pages.

    Did you make sure that your firewall or other security software isn't blocking the plugin-container process?

    I bought my Iphone 5 with mobile carrier in singapore last december .
    Earlier I used Iphone 4/4s /Ipad and now I phone 5 . I am big addict of apple products , so i went for Iphone 5
    Iphone 4s design was amazing with a glassy feel and no chances of scratches on to its design . But I dont feel the same in iphone 5
    I am a Mechancial Design Engineer - Design is basically to relate with Customer User Interface and easeness .
    But day -day usage of my Iphone 5 is frustrating because the No of white scractches to its side is going on increasing .
    Am i suppose to use case always ?  in that case I would have gone for some low end mobiles where nothing happen even i put it down many times .
    I keep it so safe and now I am in a big frustration on getting Iphone 5 . very bad feel like losing value of money
    I kindly request Mr.Johnathan Ive and concern Manufacturing dept to revert me on my issue .
    Is this the design and manufacturing capability of APPLE ?

    If you have a problem with your specific iPhone and want assistance, call Apple Support or make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple Store. You will not get any response from Apple by posting here or using the feedback pages (which are for comments and suggestions only, not for requests for assistance). If Apple determines that the scratches are due to a faulty coating, not user abuse, they may agree to replace your iPhone.

      Upgrading RAM may help as suggested by Ogelthorpe.
      System Preferences
      Close all windows and quit all applications.
    Hold the option key down and click the "Go" menu in the Finder menubar.
    Select "Library" from the dropdown, then "Preferences" folder.
    Look for this file.
    com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    Right click each  one of those and select " Move To Trash" from the contextual menu.
    Restart the computer.
    Safari
      Go step by step by step and test.
    1. Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
        Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly. It will take a while.
        Restart the computer.
        Start up in Safe Mode.

        Close all windows and quit all applications.

        Close windows and relaunch Safari.
    3. Empty Caches
        Safari > Preference > Advanced
        Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
        Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
        Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
    4. Safari > Preferences > Extensions
        Turn off Extensions if any and launch Safari again to test.
        Turn on those one by one and test.

  • MS 2008R2 networking issue? Need MS network expert to advise on virtual IP address vs IP address on mirror servers

    I am not a network engineer or MS network expert, but have spent many hours researching docs and sites without a clear reason to explain
    the situation.
    I have a client with 2x 2008R2 mirror servers. When the app fails, the primary server switches to secondary server as usual; however a connecting Unix application (on another segment) somehow cannot see the Virtual IP at that point and the situation is disastrous.
    The IP (v4) for server A is x.x.x.10 and server B is x.x.x.11 whereas the VIP is x.x.x.99.
    Reading hordes of MS related docs it seems the answer is to avoid having the the VIP larger that the server IP addresses, meaning the VIP be x.x.x.9 or smaller. The Unix application now connects successfully as the failover on the MS servers flip-flops.
    Is this due to RFC 3484, Default Address Selection for IPv6 (February 2003) rules being imposed on ip4 as implemented? If so which rule and can you explain is digestible manner?
    Or OTOH this is a MS default of take the smallest IP number bound to the card as the primary outbound address (this I understand is how it was pre 2008R2)
    Or is there something else I have missed?
    Most importantly, anyone know the Microsoft kb issue reference?

    Regarding to the description, I suggest you move the Unix application (on another segment) to the same segment as the mirror servers'. It will avoid some factors from middle devices. As you have the issue only on the Unix application.
    If we need to know why the failover is not working well when apps fails. We could gather the netmon traces between the servers to verify which one reject the request.

    Recovery mode doesn't mean that all your data is already lost. You only lose your data if you restore it.
    When you plug the phone is into iTunes hold down the home button. iTunes may then give you the option JUST to update the software first. This should not get rid of any data.
    However, if iTunes is only giving you the option to RESTORE and update, then you will lose your data I'm afraid.
