Issue transporting data sources in BI 7.0

Hello guyz
This question is regarding transporting data sources for BI 7.0.
1. First we transport master data sources from ECC Dev to ECC QA.
2. In BI 3.x version, we would need to first replicate these data sources form ECC QA to BI QA.
3. Then we would release our BI transports, which had the transfer and update rules.
4. Do we need to do the same thing in BI 7.0?
5. My understanding is, we do step 1. But then we skip step 2 and just move the data source along with the transformations form BI Dev to BI QA.
6. Please not that we are doing a new implementation, so we are also migrating each and every datasource to its 7.0 version.
7. I just need the step by step method of transporting, (if needed replication and migrations steps) from DEV to QA in the new BI 7.0 world.

Hi.
First you need to transport master data and then transactional data sources.
After transporting go to the target system and than replicate it.

Error while transporting data source

I am trying to transport a DSO, Data source, Transf, DTP in the same request but i am getting error code 8.
Here is the error log.

Source system is BI source system and data source is based on a function module which have logic to get data from other DSO's and IO's with BI system.
Why its giving me an error saying Infosource no available in SS when i am transporting.
Did anyone came across similar issue? Any suggestions?

1)Check this infosource ZBIU_OTCSO_TR_VMI_ORDDEL flow in Dev system, where it is been used.. and also check the code in the FM.
2) IF you are trasnporting entirely a new data flow then goto transport connection and check.
3)If you are trasporting the existing flow(may not be entire flow, but like Datasource enhacment ..) cross check with PRD system for the earlier version and chek what are the changes which you are tying to do now.
2)check your Trasport request once again(collected objects)..Activate the FM, DS and then transport.

Its a new data flow from DEV to QA and i checked for that infosource in transport connection and there are no hits for that infosource. I found it only in the case of Datasource.
I doubt on the conversion of SS names. Can anyone tell me how I can validate the conversion of Source Systems.
Any suggetions?

Error while transporting data source from Dev to QA

Hi , I am transporting 0glaccext hier data source. I created the transport with the the transfer rules and the corresponding Infopackage. when I collect the transfer rules I have 4 transfer structures present in the transfer rules which are
" 0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA1" BA2 , BA3 and BA4. when I am importing the data source, I am getting the following error messages
"Mapping between data source 0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER and source system QASCLNT400 is inconsistent"
and then
"Reference to transfer structure 0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA1 not available. No activation possible.
Message no. RSAR436
Diagnosis
Transfer structure 0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA1 should be transported into this system.
However, no DataSource mapping refers to this transfer structure.
System Response
The transfer structure was not activated or deleted.
Procedure
Ensure that DataSource mapping, with a reference to the transfer
structure 0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA1 is on the same transport request. Use the transport connection to create a consistent request."
Any suggestions on how I need to handle this issue.

Problem while transporting Data Source

I get error while transport datasource from DEV to PROD:
DataSource <DS> does not exist in source system <PRD_SYSTEM> of version A
Field <XXXX> will not be delivered from DataSource <DS> in source system <PRD_SYSTEM>
What does it mean? Do I need to activate <DS> datasource in source system PRD_SYSTEM?

1. Transport the Datasource from D to P system in R/3.
2. Replicate the corresponding R/3 Sorce system in BW Production system.
3. Right click on the datasource overview and check whether ur data source is available or not.
4. If available then transport all the required info objects first from BW Dev to Prod System.
5. Then transport your Infosource and other objects.
This way will be fine.
This error normally will occur when the data source is not replicated and the required info objects are not transported to the Prod system from Dev system.

Problem transporting data source on R/3 side - missing text

Hi guys
We are trying to transport a BC data source with enhancement from DEV to TEST. The person doing the enhancement is long gone.
When we try to include the data source in a transport, we get the error:
"The short text of data source is not maintained in language E"
If we login in English we can see the short text missing. However this being BC, how do we add the text?

This text missing, is from the transfer structure?
You may access from transaction se11 and edit the transfer structure in English, and add the missing texts in that language.

10.1.3 Migration Issue with data-sources.xml

Hi:
Running into lots of migration issues for an application built in 10.1.3 EA, migrating to 10.1.3. production, mostly in the BC project. Here's one: the database connections built in EA were not carried over to prod, so they needed to get re-built. No biggie. But now the data-sources.xml file in the model project has duplicate entries for my data sources. I have tried directly editting that file and removing the duplicates, but when I go to run my application (ADF Faces & ADF BC) JDeveloper hangs. When I abort JDev and re-start it, the duplicate entries are back in data-sources.xml (and yes, I did save the file after making the changes). It seems that the xml file is built dynamically from definitions stored elsewhere. Where is the source? What will I need to modify to get the changes to take?

There is new control over when/whether JDeveloper add/updates your data-sources.xml file for the embedded server. The settings are located here:
Tools | Embedded OC4J Server Preferences | Current Workspace | Data Sources
There are some settings there that control whether/when we update the data-sources.xml

Issue with data source after deploying

We are experiencing an issue with our data source after deployment of a cube. On the datasource properties in Visual Studio 2012, we have the max connections set to 0 before the deployment. Once the cube is deployed, I can navigate to the <name>.0.ds.xml
file and open it and see that the <MaxActiveConnections>0</MaxActiveConnections> is indeed set to 0. At some point over the next couple days, a process of the cube or some other action causes that value to get updated to some number too large to
be converted to an int, and makes the datasource invalid. At that point we cannot view the datasource properties in SSMS, we cannot open the cube project from Visual Studio, and we’ve even had failures when trying to process the cube. Is there a config
somewhere that would cause this value to get overwritten, or some other behind the scenes process that we can look at?

Typically you would import the metadata from the source location and either use that location as the data source (and so not need to redeploy), or deploy it to a separate target location.
The replace action is destructive as you've found, and effectively performs a drop table followed by create table. Hence any data in the table is lost.
If you just want the Control Center Manager to correctly display that the table is deployed, try setting the action to "Upgrade". This will try to upgrade the deployed object to match the definition in OWB, but as the two are identical this will result in no changes. However, it will update the deployment records to indicate that the object is deployed.

      Acutally I need only two fields from data source like Document Type and Purchasing group. Can I select only this two field from the list which already existing in Comm Struct and in Tran Struct.
      Does it work out and one more thing about key figures Here I need to include key figures as well......

BI Data Source 6DB_PRODUCT - DB USER issue..

HI All,
We have the issue - Bi Data Source 6DB_PRODUCT at DB USER in EXTRACTION tab.
Source = MS SQL DB View
Target = SAP Bi 7.0 (Sp23)
We have a Bi Data Source 6DB_PRODUCT . Gets from Product - DB View.
This Data source is working fine earlier with the below.
In the 6DB_PRODUCT Data Source - FILED TAB -> DB-user = ' ' . i.e. EMPTY.
Source team, added one field recently and we seen :
In the 6DB_PRODUCT Data Source - FILED TAB - DB-user = SERVICEBWD
This 6DB_PRODUCT is working fine in BI Dev system.
We transported this 6DB_PRODUCT to BI Quality Syaytem. When We click "READ PREVIEW DATA " button it throws an ERROR:
Unknown error while uploading data from the DB table
Message no. RSDS_ACCESS027
If we run INFO PACK - it shows ERROR in SOURCE SYSTEM.
Please let me know - what is the reason ? Suggest me how to follow.

That are the possible reasons:
- View STORE_VW_SAP does not contain any data.
OR
- its caused by a truncation problem. Sometimes the problem occurs because there's a view called STORE_VW_SAP
on the remote SQL Server, containing some fields of datatype bit. Check the mapped fields(the type), if they are mapped to one SAP object. In some cases the value of fields cannot be mapped. The solution in this case would be to modify this view STORE_VW_SAP on the remote SQL Server to another way in that these fields are converted to datatype. It can be defined in the select clause of the view. Then you have to recreate the datasource and check again which values are submitted to the BW system.

Attribute sets can be transfered thorugh RFC connection. Create the RFC of the source system in target system, then import the Attribute sets using the option "Transfer of Attribute Sets from Other System " tcode CRMD_MKT_TOOLS - Expert Tools.

Data Source Assignment issue in BW

i have replicate 2 data source in Production BW system but those are not automatically assigned to the corresponding
info source.Since Production system i can't do any change. it seems to me that i need to transport these 2 info source again in Production BW system.

Hi,
Before you transport data source / info-source to production system, you should make sure that in target system ( in your case production system ) you have maintained a setting of 'Mapping of Source system names'. This you can find in RSA1 --> Tools --> Mapping of source system names.
Here you define source system for data source should change to XXX(production) source system instead of earlier XXX(development) source system.

Common issues in data load monitoring...

Can u please tell me what are the common issues that occur during data load monitoring and how to rectify them??

This is a bit dependent on your system and landscape. but to mention some of issues:
- Deadlock in cube because the inxedes were not dropped before loading data into cube
- Unallowed signs in master data prevent system from creating SID
- Duplicate values in master data load (can be avoided by setting a flag in DTP)
- Loading delta package without having intitialized before
- Source package delivers key figure without units (this happens when laoding into a cube or an DSO with SID generation)
- Missing replication of data source after transporting data source in source system

SOAP Data source Function module table structure different from Dev to QA

Hi All,
I have generated SOAP data source in BWD and it created a ZOXBWD0117 structure and I am using this structure for XI proxy. But when I generate the same SOAP data source in BWQ, a different structure is created ZOXPBW0110.
Because of the structure changing from development to quality system my proxy transports are failed and I am not able to import my proxy changes.
Please advice how can I get same structure across all the systems?

And trying to transport the Export data source, i.e. 8Company_code to QA system.
Its showing the log that, imported sucessfully, but, i can't see the object in QA.
