Issue when Bursting reports via new Precalculation Server

Hello,
We are trying to migrate away from our unsupported 720 installation of the SAP Precalculation software to a new Precalculation Server running the latest versions. We’ve overcome a number of issues and we can successfully Broadcast using the new server but we are encountering problems
with bursting.
The Bursts have been running successfully on the old 720 server, so we know that the BW side must be fine which suggests the problem is with the Precalculation server. We have been through the Precalculation checklist and the servers appears to have been built successfully. The Precalculation and Business Explorer software has been patched to the latest version and it’s running Excel 2013.
The main error message we are seeing is “The RPC server is unavailable” HRESULT: 0x800706BA.
A Screen shot showing the error in RSRD_LOG  is shown in the attached document.
Below is an extract from the Log of the Precalc server showing this error, just before the RPC Server is unavailable message it states
Error occured on closing opened workbooks.

Hi,
There is no easy fix for this. Please go through the precalc check list which should solve the issue:

  • Scheduling 100 Reports via the Precalculation server.

    Hi All
We are on BI7 and have a precalculation server.
I need to schedule 100 reports once a month to suppliers, my question is is it best to attach it onto a Process Chain or is it best to schedule them independently.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards...BK

You could also use the DataChange event Process type in a process chain.  You add the DataChange process, set a variant value, then schedule your reports to be triggered by the DataChange event.
If you are scheduling 100 reports, you should also know how many precalc servers you have setup in your environment, and know how large the precalc queue is.
SAP doc on precacl server has some sizing info to suggest how many precalc server you might need.  Also review the RSADMIN parameter that can be used to adjust the precalc servers queue size.

  • Due to NAS issues, when I started a new time machine backup it did not have the old backups available. My question is do I need to delete them or will time machine automatically reclaim the space?  Only one Sparse Bundle, same name.

Due to NAS issues, when I started a new time machine backup it did not have the old backups available. My question is do I need to delete them or will time machine automatically reclaim the space?  There is only one sparse bundle but when I enter time machine I don't see my historic backups.  I use a synology DS212 for my time machine.  Started a new backup which is 218gb but it says 618 gb is occupied  therefore it looks like 2 or 3 backups are still on the disk. Before my NAS issues the last backup was in 2014.  As you can see there is a second sparse bundle from 2012.  Not sure what that is.

This is an old message now, but what happened to me similarly was:
I had a major computer crash and through complicated pathways ended up reinstalling (Mavericks) as a new user (long story).
At least I had good Time Machine backups on an NAS drive (Synology DS212j), or so I thought - when I started Time Machine up again, the old backup file was gone, replaced by a new one using my "new computer" name. The old file was gone both by directly mounting the NAS drive and by clicking "Enter Time Machine".
It's like I had {OldShareName}.sparsebundle and then it was replaced by {NewShareName}.sparsebundle, all of the old info vanished.
(I have spent a week finding old files elsewhere and have completed a satisfactory self-restore. It pays to "archive" [my own variation of] as well as "back-up".)
My belief is that if this were a wired-netword-drive, e.g. plugged right into my iMac with a USB cable, then the old file would have remained.
But this is an NAS drive, connected directly to my Airport wireless router, and I don't know the significance of the fact that it stores its Time Machine backups as "sparsebundle" files rather than simply as plain(er) files.
As usual when things get complicated with computers (not just Apple computers) there was never a warning message. Something like "YOU'RE ABOUT TO DELETE A TIME MACHINE BACK-UP FILE!!!" would have made my life a lot simpler.
BTW, I did try a "restore from Time Machine" option the first thing I had my "new computer" (old hardware, 2009 iMac) up and running, using Migration Assistant, and it ran for many hours and then failed in the wee hours - what that has to do with anything I'm not sure.
I'm not sure that I have a question about this other than "why do these things happen to me?", but it's a warning. Apart from that I've been very happy with the stability and reliability (but not the cost or set-up complexity) of NAS vs. directly-cabled external drives.

  • No variable Screen when accessing web reports via "New analysis" button

    Hello !
I need some help or explanation :
I'm on a web report (Java) and i want to access another report.
I click on the "new analysis" button on the top, then i open the "roles" folder and select a report.
The new report start but without the prompt screen with the variable selection.
I also saw that the URL shown on Internet explorer is the old one (not the new querie URL)
This is the same problem with all my queries when accessing them via the "new analysis" menu.
Why is this screen squeezed ?

  • Ordering messed up when generating Report as Delimited on Server

    Hi folks,
Not sure if anyone else might have observed or faced this issue but thought I'd give it a try. I have an Oracle Report (Version 6i) and the output generated should be a tab delimited text file so the user can view the output in Excel. The Report output is sorted by Name. When I run the Report locally (Client) by doing File -> Generate to File -> Delimited (Delimiter Option: Tab), the Report works fine. The ordering is correct. However, when I am running it off the server (Using the option DELIMITED for the DESFORMAT), the ordering seems messed up. The ordering is maintained for quite a few rows and then a Name (out of order appears). Note that this record also appears in the correct place as well as above the place where its expected to be ... Here is an example:
    Name                     ID     BIRTH DATE
    ==========================================
    ALLAN, BRIAN             1001   1970/12/31
    ALLAN, SUSAN             2001   1968/01/01
    FRANCIS, JOHN            5001   1965/02/01
    BROWN, EDWARD            3001   1978/01/02
    BROWN, JENNY             4001   1976/04/01
    FRANCIS, JOHN            5001   1965/02/01
GRAHAM, DALE             6001   1980/10/10As you can see that FRANCIS, JOHN is appearing out of order and in order (Twice). This is not happening when I run it on the Client. Any ideas what may be causing this? I realize I don't have much information out here as I myself am at my wits end.
    Thanks

  • FRM-41213 : Error raised by a form when launching report on the same server

    Hello !
I get this error FRM-41213 when launching a report via rp2rro.rp2rro_run_product.
I don't want to set the report server in a var or property into a library or a form cause my app is to be sent to customers who will not have the sources files.
This app is a migration from an app 10g to 11g.
In 10g whe hadn't to set the ReportServerURL ... But in 11g it can't be ok if we don't set the server URL (with the URL it's ok)
The 11g Report server is running on port 9002, and the form server on port 9001 on the same machine. But the two server are accessible by an ohs on port 8888.
    What the f**k ?
    :)

    Hi
I don't run my reports using rp2rro.rp2rro_run_product but in both 10g and in 11g have always needed to specify the name of the report server.
We have used different methods for different clients/customers. At times we have stored this name in a table in the application, other times in a pre-defined file on the server which we read using text_io.

  • Invoking scheduled/bursted reports via HTTP... documentation?

Hi all - I am looking for documentation regarding the HTTP "API" for BI Publisher Scheduler. There is an HTTP interface for which I can find no documentation. For instance by POSTing a URL such as http://<site>:<port>/xmlpserver/servlet/scheduler?ujobname=DirectDeliveryReport.xdo&d_printerd_p_gname0=direct&show_conf_page=true&d_method0=d_printer0&job_locale=en_US&save_output=off
...you can "schedule" a job for immediate execution and output to a printer.
This is the method of execution for Oracle SIM 13 and is vaguely described in the SIM 13 Implementation Guide but not apparently in the BIP docs. I am wondering:
    a) what is the API for this web interface? What are the parameters?
    b) can this interface be used for bursting reports? If so it would seem to be a much easier way to schedule burst reports when an external scheduling system is required. More straightforward, like a shell script for Oracle Reports, rather than having to write a Java app to call BIP twice, first to get the XML data, second to burst/deliver that data.

    Hi Tim -
By 'run now' mode via HTTP, are you referring to a direct call to the XDO or a one-time run via the scheduler servlet? I am not looking to set up a repeating schedule via HTTP, simply to kick off a one-time job with an output destination of email or printer. I cannot find any documentation for the one-time scheduled execution through the scheduler via HTTP. I have searched all the 10.1.3.3.3 docs, the blog, and the message boards for some of those parameters being defined in the SIM URL and there's no mention of them.
SIM may use some internal logic to construct the URL, but by looking at the SIM, Apache, and BIP log I can see what it's doing. It's a series of GETs and POSTs via HTTP. Using this same logic, I have constructed some PL/SQL (http_utl package) to call BIP in the same fashion from a trigger and it works fine. The HTTP interface that SIM is using certainly seems to be fully-fledged; it seems to have parameters that would allow you to define the output format and destination. I just want to know what they are =)
All I'm trying to do is automate some of the SIM printing by making it trigger-based rather than GUI-based. If the client wants to, say, autoemail instead of autoprint, I would have no idea how to change the URL params to do this. Secondly, if such a URL could specify that bursting, per the XDO, take place, we can use this HTTP method to invoke BIP from an external scheduler which will be easier for us than using web services.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Reports Services getting down when running reports using in process server

    Hi,
I have applied patchset 3829014 (Containers for J2EE: Patchset PLACE HOLDER FOR OC4J STANDALONE RELEASE 9.0.4.1)
to fix the Bug No. 2670561 CPU usage becomes 100% when there is a new HTTP connection
    request in the queue.
Now after reploying the *.ear file and restarting OC4J_BI_FORMS services from Enterprise Manager and starting the Reports Services if I want to run the reports from the application contained in the ear file, I find the Reports Services is down and the browser throws a 500 - Internal Server Error.
In the ipm.log file in Oracle_home\opmn\logs I find the following lines:
    05/01/08 17:15:55 [4] Process Alive: OC4J~OC4J_BI_Forms~default_island~1 (1162281586:636)
    05/01/08 17:17:32 [2] [libopmnoc4j] AJP13: Receiving response code: 500 while configured success code is: 200
    05/01/08 17:17:32 [2] [libopmnoc4j] Ping URL for proc: 1162281586 failed while pinging url:/reports/rwservlet/pingserver?start=auto
    05/01/08 17:17:32 [4] [libopmnoc4j] Process Ping Failed: OC4J~OC4J_BI_Forms~default_island~1 (1162281586:636)
I can't get from where the response code of 500 is coming.
I have consulted the Doc Id 261867.1 in Metalink and has tuned the opmn.xml file as suggested there but of no use.
Urgent help in this regard is needed where I went wrong as my production Application Server has become inoperative.
    Thanks
    Nilay

The ear file contains the front end application from where the reports are called. I have created a new J2EE instance and deployed the application in the form of ear file there.
After tuning the opmn.xml file following Metalink Doc. Id 261867.1 adding a value of pingtimeout, I found the OC4J_BI_FORMS was not shutting down the inprocess reports server and I was unable to generate reports by giving values from URL. But when I deploy the ear file in the newly created J2EE instance, the OC4J_BI_FORMS is shutting down . Now when I try to start the infrastructure components the OC4J_SEcurity is showing Database dependancy failed although OID and HTTP server components are up.

  • Use a dynamic list of email addresses to email a report via Business Objects Server 11

    Post Author: wolfgang666
    CA Forum: General
I use Business Objects Server version 11 to distribute reports via email but was asked if there was a way to only send the reports to those people listed in the report (which changes daily) instead of the entire distribution list. I can create a list of email addresses as a variable within the report but can't find any way to pass it to the Business Objects server "To:" field located in the destination screen. I would expect to see some option for sending to some value located in the report but alas no such option is evident. This seems like a feature the product should be capable of doing as it is so basic. Any other way to do this that anybody can think of? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
    Matt Frazier

    Hi Alan,
The simplest thing would be to simply use the Import Wizard to create a BIAR file and then back up the required CR's and instances to the BIAR file. So for instance you would use the "Import Folders and Objects" option. So the source system would be the system you are decomissioning and the Destination would be the BIAR file. Once that is done you can use the BIAR file to import the report content into another system in the future.

  • ORA-06502 when downloading report via BI Publisher

I'm getting this error when trying to export an interactive or standard report using the BI Publisher report server. It doesn't happen on all reports, but I'm not sure what could be causing the error. The result is an excel file with the message:
    <pre>report error:
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small</pre>
The standard report has 45 columns and 755 rows. There aren't any errors on the UI when the report is generated.
Has anyone had this problem or know what to do to fix it? I can't recreate the interactive report region on the same page because there are hundreds of saved reports that I can't delete.
    APEX 4.1.1.00.23
    Oracle 11g 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
    Thanks!
    Jonathan Hart

After reading through the trace file from the report generation it looks like the error is caused from binding the sql query to some query or data type within the APEX engine. I double-checked the length of the query and it is longer than 4000 characters. I'm sure some of the interactive report queries are also longer than 4000 with all the filters added in.
Is there anyway to fix this?

  • Delivery Confirmation when distributing Reports via email

I have setup a report that distributes based on the mail ID in the group header. Is there a way to report if each mail ID was sent successfully? I am using reports server 9.0.4.2.
    Thanks.

    Hi there,
Okay that's pretty nice, global statistic, but do we have any other option to get details for each email to which we've distributed the report?
Any idea of how to combine reports with the mail server, so to communicate right after sending out the mails?
    Thanks,

  • Bursting Reports via email with seperate email address for each page

I have been reading "Oracle® Application Server Reports Services Publishing Reports to the Web" (most specifically chapter 15 Creating Advanced Distributions) trying to figure this out but still having difficulty getting my head around it.
I am trying to email invoices when applicable. Here is the "perfect world scenario".
Report is scheduled to run once a day.
Any qualifying invoices are picked up in the run.
If there is an email address associated with the record the invoice is sent via email. (email address would be included on report and variable)
If no email address is associated, the invoice is printed.
There could/would be several different invoices on a single run.
Does this mean I have to write dynamically write a distribution.xml file for each run or can I pass the email address as a variable to the distribution.xml?

    Hi !
You're able to use Report-Variables (e.g. from a Group in the Data Model) in the distribution.xml-File to send email to different adresses.
Just bear in mind that you also need to set the "repeat-on" Property of the relevant layout section and use a "foreach"-Loop in the distribution.xml.
So, no, no "dynamic" building of xml-Files necessary (though we do it at times...).
See also "Publishing Reports to the web" for a complete reference on "burst distribution" and the components of the distribution.xml
I would, however, run the report twice, once for "all email-invoices" with email-distribution file, once for "all invoices w/o email-adress" with (probably) printer-distribution file, as "exception" handling inside a distribution.xml could be a bit awkward...

  • Fonts when sending Reports via Printer Option (10g Reports / Redhat 5)

When I send a Oracle 10g report to the printer, which PPD file is it using? The printer you install on the server or the one in ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/tk/admin/PPD directory?
I installed a printer on the Linux Server and copied the file to the ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/tk/admin/PPD directory. I added some new fonts in the PPD so that the report would pick some Windows fonts that didn't exist originally on the Linux. I installed the fonts on the server and am able to see them in PDF Output options on the server.
When I send the report with the same parameters to the printer directly, it doesn't see those fonts. I only modified the PPD for that printer on ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/tk/admin/PPD directory. So I was wondering if I have to do it on the installed server file as well or not.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Chris

This was a response that I received from Oracle Support. Basocally, I'd have to install the font in the internal printer memory to get this to work.
Is there a way to send a Report to PDF in Oracle Forms and then at the same time once that PDF is generated, send it to the printer (without user interaction). That would take care of my problem. That would take care of my printing issue. I know PDF's work and I know I can print them displaying the fonts just fine.
    Support Response:
Fonts need to be present in the PPD file as well as the internal printer memory .
    Reason is as follows.
1)Based on PPD file , Font metrics will be used to create thye PS file with the correct font names.
2)When the PS file is sent to the the printer, actual fonts are not sent . Note that this is a limitation of Oracle Reports PS driver on unix and . Hence, it is required to have a printer that has the fonts installed in its memory/system.
Currently there is an internal pending enhancement request to upgrade the Postscript driver of Oracle Reports

We need to add Bcc parameter to the email bursting query
Please provide us with your valuable suggestions to handle these issues.
