Issue while Upgrading vmm 2012 sp1 to vmm 2012 R2

Hi,
We are trying to upgrade the vmm setup to 2012 r2 ,we retained the existing vmm database
While upgrading to vmm 2012 r2 , got the below warning message:
"The VMM database contains one or more services in a failed state. Upgrading to VMM in System Center 2012 R2 is not recommended. Retry the upgrade after you have reinstalled VMM for System Center 2012 SP1 and repaired or removed these services. Click
Cancel to exit the upgrade."
Tried to find the bug using the vmm logs file like
errlevel
setupwizard
vmmserver
In erlevel log, the entry was "0".
Any idea what the issue is????

1. You just need CU3 - these are cumulative
2. Sure, you can take a temporary snapshot. You need to take a SQL backup also.
3. Don't forget to test the upgrade process on a copy of your site database (use /testdbupgrade)

I am seeing this issue while I am trying to do an in-place upgrade from SQL Server 2012 to SQL 2014. Both being Enterprise Editions I am still seeing the below error message in the Feature Upgrade checks.
" The specified Edition upgrade is not supported"
Please let me know if anyone else has faced this issue and any workarounds? I am not doing "Edition Upgrade", just wanted to upgrade same edition of 2012 to 2014.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I was told that it is SQL 2014 Enterprise Edition. Is there a way to verify that? Also yes I did not select the free Evaluation or Express Editions.
Just run the setup you got for SQL server 2014 and you would reach to page where it would say enterprise or standard after that cancel the setup . Actually version number can be found from Mediainfo located in same folder where setup.exe is located but edition
cannot be found by that way.

Issue upon upgrading SCCM 2012 rto R2 | Prerequisites failed

Hi,
I'm having this issue upon upgrading our current SCCM 2012 server SP1 to R2. When I reach the prerequisite checker, it fails to detect the User State Migration Tool (USMT) installed, Windows Deployment Tools installed and Windows Preinstallation Environment
installed. I'm guessing that this is because I have the WAIK for Windows 8 and not the WAIK for Windows 8.1. So I followed the instructions from the prerequisite checker and downloaded the latest version of WAIK. When I installed the WAIK for Windows 8.1,
it prompted me that it can't be installed because WAIK for 8.1 is already installed which is kinda weird. So I tried uninstalling WAIK from the server, but I came to this error. ( see image below)
Does anyone know how to get around this problem? This is becoming a showstopper for my upgrade.

When I open the error log, here is what I saw:
I have tried to use an Enterprise account to try to uninstall the WAIK but still it failed.
I followed the workaround provided in the link you sent and I was able to uninstall WAIK. I disjoined the server to AD and uninstalled WAIK. Maybe there is a GPO policy that is blocking the uninstallation.

Hi Janos,
Copy files from another Oracle Software is not a wise idea. Even if this would work, it is an unsupported way. No one could predict what would happen later on.
I said to rsync the file systems not to copy specific files, If you rsync the file system (Oracle_home) it syncs all the binaries without any difference between source and target. It doesn't require uninstallation and re-installation of Oracle.
Deinstalling and reinstalling the Oracle Software is the most easiest and quickest supported way
I did this rsync even on new systems where Oracle was not installed, it worked all the times without any issue.
Never mind - It is just another solution to resolve the issue and not to challenge

Hi,
Upgrade report is giving me following warning. Is my above problem is due to this warning?
The project <Application Name> references netui-pageflow.jar, which contains an 8.1 WLS XMLBean, com.bea.wlw.netui.pageflow.schema.webapp23.EjbLinkDocument. Regenerate the JAR to use Apache XMLBeans.
If yes then how to resolve this issue. Any suggestion guys.

SCOM : Issues while upgrading SCOM agent from 2012SP1 to R2

Hi,
We have upgraded SCOM setup from SP1 to R2 but facing issues with agent upgrade.
We were able to view only ~70% agents in pending management (Agent requires update).
Further, when I tried to upgrade agents through console, some are successfully upgraded but rest are giving
error.
Can someone help me to understand why all agents are not appearing in pending management for upgrade?
I also tried to upgrade agent manually but no luck. It gives error "The path 'C:\Windows\.........\monagent.msi'
can not be found. Verify that you have access to location and try again or try to find installation package.........". , though I had logged into server with admin access.
Also most of servers are remotely manageable but unable to upgrade through console.

I understand you require the Agent data. How ever the events clearely say the issue is because of the old installation files.
I was looking a a article on updating an agent to SCOM 2012 R2 from the below link.

So the link says:
When you upgrade an agent, the Operations Manager installer service runs and is not removed until after the completion of the upgrade.
If the agent upgrade fails, you might have to re-install the agent because the installer service was not properly removed. If you attempt to upgrade the agent again and it fails, you should re-install the agent after you have completed upgrading all features
of Operations Manager.
So i would suggest you is you try the below on only 1 agent.
1. Download the Agent Dump from the below link and try updating it. (This is my copy of MOM Agent.msi from my installation media of SCOM
2012 R2)

If the above does not success and gives you the same error then try the below
1. Select an agent and pull all the perfmon data / Alerting data required for it using SQL Query or Reporting.
2. Uninstall the Old SP1 Agent setup.
3. Install the Agent via Discovery Wizard or do a manual installation and see if the issue resolves.
I think either from both the steps will solve the issue.

Ports issue while Upgrading PI Server

I am facing problem while ugrading the PI server.
I started the upgrade using the cmd "<DVD drive>:\ STARTUP.BAT "jce_policy_zip=<path to JCE policy archive>""
but it is giving me the following error.
Could not bind to port 4239.
java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind

Issue is in that forum he told that "I have found that disp+work.exe (Dia Wp no.4) is using port 4241 with PID 7532"

Could not bind to port 4239.
java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind
As the above error says that Address is already in use it looks like upgrade assitant is already running.
Check if there is any SAPup process running and try to launch the Upgrade URL (http://hostname:4239)

Very disappointed that Lion is causing major problems with disable students assistive software in the UK. Software suppliers are not issuing patches/upgrades until 2012. Totally unacceptable attitude from Apple in ignoring disabled customers

This is going to affect a large number of disabled UK students as patches and upgrades for the specialist software are not due for release until late 2011/early 2012.
Only options they have is to revert to Snow leopard, defficult as Apple have even recall resellers stock and upgraded it to Lion.
I am contacting the UK educational funding bodies with a view to suspending purchasing of all Apple equipment until such time as the situation has resolved itself.

I seem to have ruffled a couple of feathers. I do not remember saying I was responsible for computer systems/networks/school systems. Or accusing Apple of incompetence.
All I did was state that Apple seems to have forgotten or is not aware about the potential impact of Lion on disabled students in the UK and both apple and the assistive software suppliers failed to act together over this omission.
During our research prior to the launch of Lion we as a specialist group had identified 22 of the 40 applications used in assistive software that had 'Problems' this was communicated to all interested parties. Still waiting for the 'FIX'
FYI ALL parties have had similar notices on their BB's NOT just Apple.
despite being given 2 ears and 1 mouth some people do not listen twice as much as they speak.

Hi Anish,
Please check if you have the following jar in your classpath before you run the upgrade script. $MW_HOME/oracle_common/modules/oracle.mds_11.1.1/mdsrt.jar. Also have you sourced the aiaenv.sh before you tried to run the script ?

Issues while upgrading the db of an 11iEBS application , 10.2.0.4 to 11gR2

Team,
I am following the doc is: 881505.1 to upgrade the DB(10.2.0.4.0) of an 11iEBS application to 11gR2.
From the Doc I have completed steps till 13. Now doing the actual upgrade following the doc Oracle Database Upgrade Guide 11g Release 2 (11.2).
I have logged into the instance and set up the variables for new oracle home, and am running the dbua command and getting the error.
" Database Vault option is enabled in the Oracle Home "/slot/ems6764/oracle/app/ora6764/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1". This needs to be disabled prior to upgrade".
I checked and the option is not enabled. Checked in the 10g oracle home and the option is disabled. I had run the pr-upgrade script it didnt give me any errors.
As the 11g db is not yet up, its still give me the above error. I also tried brining up the 11g db with some workaround mentioned in support.oracle.com and their also its disabled.
Tried all the options and exhausted. Could you please help me in this as I am unable to proceed with the upgrade. Let me know if some more information is required to help me in debugging the issue.

Issue while upgrading ODI 10g to 11g

Hello Gurus,
I am upgrading repositories of ODI 10.1.3.5 to ODI 11.1.1.6 using Upgrade Assistant utility.
We have cloned/replicated the database repositories for ODI Master & Work.
After giving all details it checks for schema version registry, ODI version & succeeds.
but when I see the Target database details, the information like schema name, connection string about Work Repository is pointing to Production i.e. ODI 10.1.3.5 actual repository.
whereas it should show target details for replicated database.
What could be done to make it point to replicated?

The issue while upgrading to EHP1

we are upgrading solution manger netweaver 7.0 to ehp1 using SAINT. We couldnt import queue since it was taking a long time hence we schedule the queue to be imported in background . But the problem is that the back ground job is running past four days and still its not complete. when we try to see slog file under usr/sap/trans directory . we could see the warning information shown below. Can anyone help me to solve this isuue .

Issues while upgrading from 9.2.0.6.0 to 10.2.0.4

I am running the dbua. and am into 7% into it. I am getting Error " insufficient priveleges".
I tried the below.

My old oracle home is :
echo $ORACLE_HOME
/slot/ems5105/oracle/env11ic2db/9.2.0
this is the one which needs to be upgrade to 10.2.04.
entries from /etc/oratab=
*env11ic2:/slot/ems5105/oracle/env11ic2db/9.2.0:N
Before trying to run sqlplus "/as sydba" from the 10g OH I have set the below parameters:
export ORACLE_HOME=/slot/ems5105/oracle/10.2.0
export ORACLE_BASE=/slot/ems5105/oracle
export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export PERL5LIB=$ORACLE_HOME/perl/lib/5.10.0:$ORACLE_HOME/perl/lib/site_perl/5.10.0
export ORA_NLS10=/slot/ems5105/oracle/10.2.0/nls/data/9idata
export ORA_TZFILE=/slot/ems5105/oracle/10.2.0/oracore/zoneinfo/timezone.dat
and when I try to login as sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
-bash-3.00$ sqlplus "/as sysdba"

ERROR:
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
May be thats the reason why dbua is also not working.
Could the experts team help me on the same, how to proceed further.
