ISSUE: Wifi and Enterprise Networks - No PEAP-MSCHAPv2 & PEAP-GTC support.

Since owning my HP Touchpad i have not been able to connect to my schools Wifi network making the unit a digital photo frame.
The issues seems to be well documented across many forums with no aknowledgement from hp/webOS.

So there seems to be a fix, but some users might find that a little bit difficult.
Can HP/PALM/webOS/OBAMA/Astronaught please fix this issue?, it also seems to effect webOS phones.
I can confirm both android and apple ipad/iphone/imac do not have this issue.
I would like to be able to use my HP Touchpad to its full potential rather than just slide showing photos.

I'm in the exact same boat at Texas A&M Health Science Center. I seriously wonder if this is part of the reason they dropped the line. They released a product that can't function in business/school environments.

WiFi and other networking problems (MacBook Air)

Like many others on these forums, I’m having terrible problems with network connections on my MacBook Air 11-inch (Mid 2011, running Lion 10.7.3).
WiFi connections are very unreliable, and often impossible to establish.
On my home network I can ‘force’ the MBAir to connect by manually configuring TCP/IP, and DNS settings. I shouldn’t have to do this.
I do not have (and have never had) problems establishing WiFi connections on all the other Macs that are used on our home network (iMac, and MacBook running SnowLeopard, and an old PowerMac that runs Tiger; I also occasionally use my University MacBookPro (10.6.7) without any problems. So this issue is clearly not network related.
If I take the MBAir out on the road (which is why I bought it) then I invariably struggle and usually fail to establish a WiFi connection, even in my University, where the WiFi network functions with my MacBookPro.
My problems with the MBAir are not however confined to WiFi.
Networking with an Ethernet-USB link is equally unreliable. Occasionally the MBAir appears on network but then fails to connect to any servers. Even when it does appear to connect the network, I’m unable to connect/share the MBAir from any other of my Macs. Ethernet cable and network communications are all trouble-free with my University iMac and MacBookPro.
I’m really disappointed with my MacBook Air what’s going on Apple?!
I’ve tried deleting the usual system preference files (com.apple.airport.- , -.network, etc.) but not much has changed. Now at a loss at what to try next .... advice welcomed.

Whatever was causing my endless problems has been resolved. I was very close to returning my new MacBookAir, as nothing would work with respect to networking; WiFi or Ethernet-USB.
As a last resort I reinstalled Lion using the cmd-R - and yipee all networking problems have disappeared.
The MBAir now works just fine, I can chop and change WiFi connections when roaming without problems, and my ethernet-USB connection allows me to interact with my University network.
My solution - reinstall Lion!

Wifi and home network and printing

I just recieved my new MacBook Pro last week and certainly enjoying it, but have a few questions(bye the way, I'm a new Mac user):
I have a Linksys wireless router in my home and able to access my shared files on my xp machine, but sometimes after the notebook goes into sleep mode and when it wakes it can no longer detect my pc. The PC can still access the notebook though. Any thoughts? And At that same time I am able to still access the internet.
Also, the other night I received my first kernel panic attack and recieved the gray screen message and had to reboot. It happened while I was outside surfing the internet and I had lost my signal for internet and home network. I was picking up other wifi signal too and wondering if that could have caused it. I then made a call on my cordless phone and that is around the time of the kernel panic. Since then no Kernel panics. Again any thoughts? Should I be worried having a Kernel panic with a machine that is less then a week old?

You can have a go using a wireless bridge.. eg the airport express will do this.. you can join it to the iphone wireless running as a hotspot.. and then plugged into the TC wan port.. the TC has to be setup in router mode.. so this is going to give you double NAT errors.. and of course errors for all the time the hotspot is turned off.. but it can work. However you might find it requires you to manually connect up each time.. If you are really going to try and do this you will manage it.. but how fiddly it becomes might put you off after a week.
You will chew up your 5GB very fast using any streaming media even radio. So be very careful to track the usage.
Apple should have built in the TC the ability to plug in a wireless 3G modem.. via the USB but Apple have ceased to do adventurous stuff.
If you give up the TC as main router there are plenty of better products on the market that will handle multiple wan connections.. !!

MIxed Wifi and Powerline Network with Airport Express

Can anyone help set up a network using both wifi and ethernet?
I currently have a BT Home Hub ADSL router providing wifi throughout my house and 2 airport expresses to stream music from my iMac. The problem is that the sound occasionally drops out. I've tried most of the common fixes from the discussions but nothing seems to work reliably. My next step is to try and use powerline adapters. If possible I want to use the following configs simultaneously:
1. BT Home Hub (Broadband) to wifi throughout the house inc my iMac.
2. IMac to powerline adapter to powerline adapter(s) to airport express(es). I have 3 200Mbps adapters.

Each AirPort Express that is connected to the network using an Ethernet connection should be configured as follows:
Open AirPort Utility - Click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab located just below the row of icons
Assign a separate name to each AirPort Express
Assign a device password for each device
Adjust Time Zone settings
Remove the check mark (if present) next to "allow setup over WAN"
Click the Wireless tab
Wireless Mode = Create a wireless network
Wireless Network Name = Same name as your BT wireless network
No check mark needed next to "Allow this network to be extended"
Radio Mode = 802.11n (802.11b/g compatible) a good choice
Channel = Automatic
Wireless Security = Exact same security setting as the BT wireless network. If settings are not exact, the network will not function correctly.
Wireless Password = Same password as the BT wireless network
Confirm Password
Click the Internet icon
Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Update to save settings and allow the AirPort Express to restart
When all Express devices have been configured, power down the entire network....all devices...order is not important
Start the modem/hub first and let it run a few moments by itself
Start each AirPort Express one at a time about a minute apart
Sart each network device the same way until everything is powered back up

How to keep s4 on wifi and not network

I need to know how to keep my S4 on wifi and NOT go into netwrok, wanting to be alerted or no connection if no wifi, otherwise if it goes into network, it will cause me a veryyyyyyyyyy large bill (internet usage). SO how can I get my S4 wo NOT allow me to use apps unless there is wifi available? My husband is taking this phone over and I have a new one lol

New to the world of smart phones and currently using a S5. If the S4 is the same, in addition to info in post 1:
settings /data usage /scroll down and select app /scroll down/ select "restrict background data".
I believe this restricts the apps' access to data (like the app updating itself) even when data is on. I use WiFi to update. But like I said, I'm new so no guarantee.

2008 MBP DNS issues Wifi and DPC3825

We are visiting a beach house and have about a dozen iDevices that all connect sucessfully via WiFi to Mediacom broadband via a Cisco DPC3825 cable modem. Only a 2008 MPB with 10.8.2 will not resolve DNS lookups.
A 2011 MBA also with 10.8.2 works fine. The MBP is configured with the exact same DNS servers. The MBP gets an IP address and I can ping any IP address but Lookup fails using the network utility. I can get an IP address on the MBA and surf it directly by entering it into Safari on the malfunctioning MBP. I tried changing the DNS server to 8.8.8.8 but no joy. Also have flushed the DNS cache. This is the strangest Mac networking problem I have seen in some time. Anyone have any suggestions?

Nothing is blocking his traffic. The fact that ping works by IP and not by name indicates that DNS client service is not working properly on the Mac in question. I bet that's your problem. Unfortunately, I don't know how to tell you to fix that, but that's probably the best place to start looking. If this was a Windows machine, I'd have you check the winsock stack and do a reset as well as check to make sure DNS Client was started as a service. **** if I know where in OSX this functionality is. That's what ***** about OSX... they don't give you a lot of control over stuff like this and when it breaks, it's not easy to fix or even check if things are working since everything is via plists and damons, etc.
I would check in Activity Monitor if mDNSResponder is listed as a process. If it isn't, then that's your issue.

It will work on cell networks in Egypt if the cell provider offers an iPad data plan and associated sim card. Wifi will work as it does in the USA.

Hi. I just bought a BB10 and so far, loving it. My phone service provider is Telus but I do not use their email. So when I am on the Telus network, my smtp server setting needs to be smtp.telus.net and when I am on WIFI, I need to point to smtp.cogeco.ca. Home can I set this up?

If I would have know this I would have bought an iPhone instead. Actually, I will return the Z10 Monday and get the iPhone 5. Enough is enough.

Iphone4s no longer connecting to wifi and missing network settings

Earlier today I was using Wi-Fi at work then I went outside and the Wi-Fi went off. I was using the Wi-Fi on my iPhone 4s. When I came back inside it did not automatically go to the Wi-Fi I had to sign in and use the password it kept spinning and spinning and spinning it would never sign it at that time. I tried to forget the network reset the phone do all these things it never would sign into the network again I could never get back on Wi-Fi at work. Then I came home and my phone used to automatically attach to my home network so it did not and I had to use my home password and it gave the message unable to join network. So I tried to sign in manually and renew the lease but there was no renew the lease button. So then I was going to try to forget the network and start over but there was no forget the network button. So I tried to reset the network settings and that did not change anything there was still no renew the lease button nor forget this network butto I still cannot sign into my home Wi-Fi

Reboot your router by unplugging it for 30-60 seconds, then try again.

I don't have fixed Internet at home.
I utilise a wireless router that when I directly connect my iPhone 4 (7.1.2) or my iPad (prior to update to iOS 8) would initiate the usb hotspot function on either device where I then can utilise network based stuff (Apple tv, lappy, printer ect). I can go as far as to connect my iPhone to the router have the hotspot active then also simultaneously access the wifi signal from the router to the phone.. Helps get around the download limits imposed when updating stuff.
I find now that my iPad (iOS 8) can't establish a usb hotspot connection with the router. It can do the usual creatation directly plugging into the LAPPY or creating a wifi hotspot just not directly to the router.. I've done the usual turned on and off, reset network and cycled via the power home button stuff.. I've not gone down the full restore but if my hand forces it I'll try that.
Finally the question.
Did or has the Apple writers restructure the hotspot and wireless coding where it makes such things defunct? Any known work around?

I would just like to add that I've now upgraded to a 5S and a new router. The 5S connects fine (7.1.2) aka tethers via USB where the iPad (8.0.2) still no connectivity!!
I'm sure this is on deaf ear's, still folks a spending good coin on stuff and the line in the sand keeps moving .

Q5 Problem wifi and network

Hi,
I got a Q5 working perfectly, but 2 days back I cannot catch any wifi, and my network is indicating "h" but I cannot make or recevie any call and no BBM connection. HUB is also not responding, keep saying "Preparing BB Hub". Its a strange error which never seen before. I own Z10, Z30 and Q10, never get such issues.
I have already do a master reset but still same: My OS is 10.2.1.2977.
PLS HELP.

With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (step 1 should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT

Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive
2) Reboot
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. IF this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then please expand on "Master Reset"...it can mean different things to different people, so please explain exactly what you did in that regard.

WiFi Network and Wired Network

In your opinion, what would be the best configuration of a combination WiFi and wired network. Here's the situation. In my apartment, my living room is very close to my office, WiFi converage is good from the LR to the office where I have my servers and internet connection etc. But in order to provide stellar performance, I wanted to add an Access Point or Airport Express in the LR to make the signal that much better.
In this situation, would you have the Internet Modem, Time Capsule, in the office and the Airport Express in the LR? I'm assuming that would provide the best wireless coverage for the entire apartment. My only concern is the speed accessing the Time Capsule as well as the 1TB NAS as well as SAN File Storage connected to the core switch I have in my office, which is a Cisco 3750G (10/100/1000) over WiFi. I think this would be the best solution. Thanks.

But how is the AP linked back to the office.. if you are wireless repeating.. then you lose whatever you gain.. and probably worse than lose.. you introduce double hop wireless.. This is only going to work if you have ethernet link.. and then Express should be replaced by Extreme.. as Express still uses 10/100 port. Decent wireless should saturate that. (Seldom does.. but if you are doing calcuations I am sure you can see the problem).
Do you get decent 5ghz in the LR?? The key to fast wireless is using 5ghz especially in apartment complex where you are probably surrounded by 2.4ghz wireless.
If the current equipment does not allow you decent 5ghz connection.. strongly suggest you run a single ethernet between the office and the LR and use that.. with Extreme or better AP..
If you want to start wireless bridging at 5ghz.. look at ubiquiti stuff.. it is head and shoulders above domestic standard equipment for not too big a premium.

Problems with 8220 WiFi and battery

I'm not sure if these 2 problems are related. I've had a 8220 for 11 months and notice my battery life has really deteriorated the last few days. at the same time accessing WiFi from my phone is not as reliable. I know there is no problem with my Wifi as I have no problem accessing it from my laptop from the same connection.
Is this problem related to my battery? or are there other ways to improve WiFi connections from my 8220.

I had exactly the same problem with WiFi calls (see my old posts on dropped calls). I tested my phone in another WiFi location (in a coffee shop) and didn't have problems. Even though my computer recognized the signal, my phone dropped the calls. I changed my router and verified that all phones jacks (except the router) were using DSL filters. Since then, the problem disappeared (except when I synch music).
When outside, the phone will periodically drop calls moving between WiFi and edge networks. However, I usually turn off the WiFi network anyway to conserve batteries. While at home, the WiFi connection is more reliable if I turn off the edge network so the phone stays on WiFi and doesn't look for another network. By default, I set my preferences to WiFi at home, so even if I forget to turn off the edge network, it still looks for WiFi.

Contact the University's IT dept, they may be able to set something up on the network to allow the ATV to connect without the need for a user name/password.

Iphone 4s wireless issues on a .1X enterprise network

Hi,
I'm having a problem with my iphone 4s dropping connection with a .1X enterprise network.
I can connect but after about 15 minutes the wireless will drop and i have to manually reconnect to it.
I've turned off the 3g service as it would try and re-connect to that. The strange thing is whilst testing out this problem with
an ipad 2 (OS 5.0.1) and a macbook pro (os10.7.2) the iphone 4s dropped its wireless connection but the other two devices stayed
connected and all 3 devices were connected to the same AP.
Has anyone else came across this problem?? If so was there a work around?
The network is question is an Eduroam wireless connection with the following spec
Network name (SSID): eduroam
Network Authentication: WPA2 Enterprise
Data encryption: AES
EAP Method: PEAP
Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPv2

Hi!when I try turned of my wifi with fn+f12 it totaly dissapeared. I've tried to turn my wifi on again with the same buttons but with no sucess. I've searched for alternative ways to turn it on ex through hp wireless assistance and windows mobility center but niether can detect my wifi. Basically it's like I don't even have wifi on this laptop.No wifi icon and no warnings or signs of disfuntional hardware. I've tried downloading new drives from HP's support site but all the installation ive tried so far just closes whitout finishing and whitout warnings. i've also tried HP's restore functions to try and install the drivers that way but with no sucess.
