The Windows Installer Cleanup Utility is indeed no longer available from Microsoft, but it can still be obtained from various 3rd-party download sites such as http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility_d4459.html
Download it, install it, then run it (Start | Programs | Windows Install Clean Up), select 'Adobe Reader' and click on the Remove button.

How do I open .dll files automatically with Adobe Reader through Firefox?
Hi,
When I print eBay labels through Firefox, a .dll file is downloaded. This used to open automatically in Adobe Reader, but now it opens as a text document in TextEdit, so I have to manually open Adobe Reader, change options to show "all files", and then locate the .dll file and open it.
When I try to change the default application in Firefox preferences, I can't find anything with the content type "dll".
Is there a way to have Firefox automatically open .dll files with Adobe Reader?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
SteveThat worked, thank you!
I quit out of Firefox, renamed the file like you said, restarted my computer, and restarted Firefox.
When I went to download a label, Firefox asked me which application to use, and I picked Adobe Reader. I also checked the box to make that the default. This automatically opened the file in AR, and then when I did it the next time it worked perfectly.
Again, thank you so much for your help with this - although it's just a bit of time here and there saved it really adds up!
Take care!

Filling in forms with adobe reader in firefox on ubuntu64
Hi
I am trying to fill in pdf forms with adobe reader 8.12 in firefox 3.03 and ubuntu64 8.04.
The forms display in firefox and I can check boxes, but when I try to select a text box I am unable to type. I can enter text by right clicking on the box and pasting. I also cannot use tab to move between boxes.
If I save a pdf to disk and open it with adobe reader then I can enter text and cycle through boxes with tab.
Sometimes I am unable to load pdfs in firefox that I have viewed before. When I click on the link a blank page is displayed. I can open them if I set firefox to open them externally with acroread rather than in the browser window.
Thanks for any help.
PaulIt's completely up to the IRS to create a form where the information fits in the field. There is nothing you can do with Reader since it is simply what it is called, a reader.
For you to change the document properties would require using the full version of Acrobat. -
Issues with Adobe Reader with Windows 7
I'm having big issues with Adobe Reader. It won't open/display PDF files and closes on it's own!
Not sure if it can help you but I believe you have NVIDIA driver on your machine. Which version it is?
Many tumes issue is seen with NVidia drivers on the machine. Not only Reader but other major apps also crash due to issues in this module.
Please update the NVIDIA graphics card drivers. More information is provided in the below links

Opening unknown mimetype with Adobe Reader in firefox?
Firefox 4.0 appears to be able to identify an unknown mimetype with a pdf file. In Options>Applications>Content Type, it lists "PDF (application/unknown)" as a content type but I cannot alter it so that this file type will open with "Use Adobe Reader (in Firefox)." Is there anyway to fix this so that Reader will open these files in firefox?
I see. Can you provide an URL where it does not open through the plugin as expected? HTTP (web) servers are responsible for asserting the MIME type of the content in reponse to the user-agent (browser). If the server does not define the MIME type as being "application/pdf" before proceeding to serve the content then the plug-in will not kick in. That's one possible tangent.
The other is that something is wrong in Firefox. In that case, try [http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions#Resetting_download_actions resetting the download actions]. -
Adobe Pro 11 conflict with Adobe reader on Firefox
I downloaded adobe acrobat pro 11 trial version and also have adobe reader on my Windows 7. I get error only on firefox when trying to open the pdf attachment stating "there was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired".
The pdf attachment works fine with Chrome, or when attaching to an outlook email.
Is there a fix, or should I just uninstall the adobe acrobat pro trial??Are you using the Adobe Reader plugin, or Firefox' own PDF viewer?
Are you using the Adobe Reader plugin, or Chrome's own PDF viewer?
Also, what is your installed Reader version?

Error connecting to WS with Adobe Reader with Reader Extension server
Hi all!
I'm using a form designed with Designer with Reader Extension. This form
connects to a ws in order
With Acrobat and the Acrobat Reader under 7.0.5 it's all OK, but another
user with Acrobat or Adobe Reader 7.0.8 received an error message when
trying to connect to the WS.
The error says that there was a problem reading the file and specified the
folder url in which there is the web service.
I remember that for some reasons, after 7.0.5 you've to certified the
document, but I can't certify a PDF form created with Designer :(
Anyone can help?
Thanks,

Does Firefox 31 on Mac work with Adobe Reader 11 to read PDFs in browser?
Is it possible to open PDFs in Firefox 31 using Adobe Reader 11?
Searching on the internet shows that Adobe Reader and Firefox have had issues working together for a long time. Are these issues still ongoing or have they been resolved?
When I try to open a PDF in my browser it only shows a white page.
I can't use PDF.js because the PDFs I need to use have editable fields and javascript programming.Hi Pagoda,
Thank you for your question. I understand that you would like to know if Adobe reader 11 works in Firefox.
We can try an experiment, because I do not know this yet. If you change the application associated with the .pdf extension temporarily and try to open a pdf how does it look? [[Set how Firefox handles different types of files]]
If there is a specific question about editable fields and javascript in a pdf, you can file a new issue in the pdf.js github repository: [https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/issues/new] for more technical details. -
Why is Firefox nownot compatabile with Adobe Reader and Adobe flash 10.o?
The issue with Adobe Reader is when I fine the site I want using Google and the URL is a PDF file click on the site the document will not open.
When trying to down load and install Adobe Flash player I got a message the it was not compatible with Mozilla Firefox
currently I am running Firefox 6.0.2Pat-Thank you for the tip on Firefox not using Adobe Reader plugin. I would like to clarify a couple of things. I do not use Firefox, ever. I had installed it just to see if I could pull up the PDF files, assuming it used Adobe. I went to the link you mentioned (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1158136) on Post 6 at 12:10 a.m. I tried the steps more out of curiousity to see if Adobe would work on Firefox, but could not figure out how to do it.
At this point though, my concern is I still cannot get Adobe Reader to work on either Vista IE 9 or Windows 7 IE 11. I still get this message on websites:
To view your statement, you must have Adobe® Reader® installed on your computer.
Download Adobe Reader for free by clicking here.
I really appreciate your time and effort for all on this Forum. I believe I may not be making myself clear though. The Flash Player problem is resolved on IE 9 and 11. But I have tried System Restore, Downloading from the Adobe and other sites when they give me the download adobe reader for free message, and my program manager clearly states the latest version of Adobe Reader is installed. I cannot figure out where to go from here to get it to work, and as I mentioned before, up until a few days ago, Adobe Reader was working great on all my computers.
One other item. I notice I am getting literally hundreds of emails about Adobe problems in my inbox from others on the Forum. How do I stop them from going to my inbox? Did I set something on the Forum which is making it appear I may be an expert on Adobe issues? How do I correct this without creating a new email account? -
I got some issues with Adobe Reader.
Hello!
I got some issues with Adobe Reader. When I read a document in the Firefox
I have to click in the Adobe window all the time to reactivate keyboard shortcuts
to tale effect in the document.
Like when I scroll up and down the document with the arrow keys, this doesn't
work after changing to an other windows or tab and coming back to the previous
window.
Was there a clue to this behavior? Like a check box or what I did not see until
now?
Thank You Very Much.
Sincerely,
SteveDoes this occur with all pdf documents or only one specific document? What version of the Mac operating system are you using? What version of Acrobat reader?

When I try to read a page with Adobe Reader I get the following message:
Adobe Reader cannot show documents in this browser.
Why is that ? It occurer a short period ago, and prior to that I have had no problem.
I have no problem when I use Safari - but normally I prefer Firefox.
So, please help me - and tell me what to do.
Thanks in advance.
Lars JejlskovYou can disable the Adobe Reader plugin in Firefox (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) and use the external Adobe Reader application or Preview application instead.

Issue with Adobe Reader 11.0.0.9
I'm having a problem with Adobe Reader. The company I work for just updated their adobe Reader to version 11.0.0.9. I have a user having a problem opening up any pdf files and the actual program itself. Just get a quick cursor and nothing else. The AcroRD32.exe is running in the background and will continue to launch a AcroRD32.exe file for every attempt of opening a pdf file. Have run a repair as the user and as a administrator. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader with no luck. I've reverted back to Adobe 11.0.0.5 and had success only to have the update push back to the user's system and cause the problem of not opening pdf files. I've uninstalled and ripped out of the registry and reinstall afterwards. Still the same result. Is there a fix or patch for this particular issue?
Can you open Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

I'm running Windows 7 (64-bit), using Firefox 8.0. When I open a document with Adobe Reader 9, I am unable to do anything with it (print, save, etc.) other than view it. When I use Internet Explorer I don't have this problem.
Not sure what you mean by truncated troubleshooting report, but here's what I copied from "troubleshooting" under "help". My printer is selected as the default printer in Devices and Printers. Also, remember that a document that won't print in Firefox prints fine in Internet Explorer.

Viewing issue with Adobe Reader
Hi there,
I'm having an issue with Adobe reader, which appears to be not related to platform or version. To cut a long story short. I've created an A4 design in Photoshop. Part of this design includes some boxes, that have been given an outline (border) effect. Also bare in mind that the Photoshop files are being created at 350dpi.
When I put my design into Illustrator/ InDesign and then generate a PDF file. I then go and look at the pdf file and when the zoom is at 100%, the edges of the boxes are not straight, you'll get a slight offset half way along for example. However, when I zoom in to 400% the problem disapears and the lines (edges) look perfectly as they should.
Does anyone know about this issue? I'm worried that when I print from the PDF, this issue will be in the print-out - or will it be OK when I print it seeming as it dissapears at 400% zoom.
Any prompt answers or help would be appreciated.
Kind regards,
LukeCan you open Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
