Issue with artists with one album an non album tracks.

Here is my issue:
on the ipod I should see this:
music > artists > THE ARTIST > All or Album1
That's the logical order, but this is what my iPod does
music > artists > THE ARTIST > Album1
I know I have tracks that are not a part of Album1 ( I see them when I view the whole song listing). My ipod skips the screen where I could normally choose All or Album1. Everything works fine if I have more than one album, but for these artists with one album and a few non album tracks its not right.
Sorry if this is posted elsewhere. It's and odd request and wasn't sure how to search for it.

If no information is entered into the album field for the singles of a given artist, enter [Assorted Singles] or just [Singles] I use the [ so that all I have to do is hit that key and the entry is automatically completed by iTunes. It treats it as an album title. With any singles I have labeled for an artist in that way they show up under "ALL" as well as [Assorted Singles] for the artist.

Artists with one album + non-album tracks, non-album tracks vanish

usually, the menu structure is artist > all/albums > songs. but when there is only one album for an artist, ipod goes artist > songs directly.
this would be a handy timesaver, but it's problematic if you have one album and a bunch of non-album tracks for a particular artist, as ipod seems to want to pretend the non-album tracks don't exist. i don't want to make up album names for non-album tracks, cause altho it would fix browsing-by-artist, it would screw up browsing-by-album.
i suspect this is a bug and not a handy timesaver; my last ipod never did this, and also this ipod (like my last one) still (extremely annoyingly) makes you select "all" for artists for which i just have non-artist tracks (i.e., i get a screen where the only option is to select "all", which is stupid, and crying out for remedy).
is there a fix? also, is there a way to make ipod skip the "all" screen when it's redundant?

Those songs have to have the album info entered. This is the way it is for newer (5G and nano) iPods.
As for the all screen, no, you can't do anything.

When I import a cd with more than one artist itunes shows each artist's song separately and won't group the album as a whole - this is incredibly frustrating something that Windows media player doesn't do. Does anyone have a simple cure for this annoyance?

Turned "Sort by Album Artist" off on iPod Touch 5th Gen so individual artists on compilation albums will show up separately under "Artists" with no succuss. This worked perfectly on my Ipod Touch 4th Gen. Any Advice?

I have a 5th Gen iPod Touch. It is running the latest iOS, and iTunes has the latest update. I have many compilation albums that I imported from CD. I want the individual artists and their associated song(s) to show up under "Artists." I have turned off "Sort by Album Artist" in Settings. This worked perfectly on my 4th Gen Touch. Each artist from a compilation would show up under "Artists" with the correct song(s) showing, while still showing the whole compilation under "Albums." Now, on my 5th Gen Touch, when I try to look at an artist from a compilation under "Artists," I get one of the following: the correct artist and song, an incorrect artist and song, or an incorrect artist with the entire compilation album showing up. Is this a bug in the new iOS 7, or am I doing something wrong? Anyone else with this problem? Any advice?

I have the same problem and I have been really trying hard to find a solution. No success.
My main problem is this: For example: Top Gun soundtrack - I look at Kenny Loggins under artists and I see his albums and songs, plus the 2 songs from top gun. Then when I look at Miami Sound Machine (also on top gun cd) under artist, I see correct albums from Miami sound machine, but under the top gun soundtrack, it shows the 2 kenny loggins songs instead. then if I look at another artist from top gun cd, it continues to show the kenny loggins songs. It doesn't matter which songs i look at, but the first one i start with will always show up on the others. Funny thing is, if I click on the song, the correct song plays, it just says it is the kenny loggins song!!! ha ha. Been dealing with this for over a year now. Pretty aggravating. Happens whether I have compilations checked or unchecked on settings. I have over 50 compilation albums and some are checked, some aren't...they all behave this way.
On Mac, itunes (v 12) it all shows up correctly and works fine. I have become an expert on ID tags and am very thorough with my tagging. HAND TAGGING, not some program that does it for you...they are never correct. I match all my tag info with the info in the iTunes store for each album so it is sure to match. Has taken a long, long, long time.

How can I get my ipod to list the "album artist" instead of "artist" in the music menu, but still show the artist with the featured artist when a song plays?

For example, I am putting Kanye West's album "808's & Heartbreak" on my ipod. The track "Amazing" features Young Jeezy. So in iTunes, I list the track name as "Amazing", the artist as "Kanye West ft. Young Jeezy", the album artist as "Kanye West", and the album as "808's & Heartbreak". What I want is for my iPod to have a list of album artists instead of artists, so that I can find the song "Amazing" under "Kanye West" instead of "Kanye West ft. Young Jeezy" or "808's & Heartbreak".
And when the song plays, it should say:
Amazing
Kanye West ft. Young Jeezy
808's & Heartbreak
Is there a way I can do that? I tried using the "album artist" field thinking it would do what I wanted to do, but it didnt. I also tried using the "sort artist" field and typed "Kanye West" in there, but that didnt work either. I wish iTunes was simpler and easier or atleast CAME WITH A MANUAL. Have you tried a different pair of earbuds/headphones to rule out a pair of damaged/faulty ones? You might also want to make sure the headphones are securely and firmly seated in Nano's headphone jack. Lastly, check the headphone jack for any signs of debris or damage. You may need to have the headphone jack replaced either by Apple or a third party repair company.
I assume this static is present on any track you listen to versus only particular ones?

Is it possible to associate a song with more than one album?

I have a number of duplicate songs as a result of owning both an artist's album and compilation albums. Where they are identical I would like to associate the song with each album keeping only one version but allowing the song to play within the either the artist's album or the compilation. Is that possible without using the playlist option?

With the new IPhone 7 can one search for a song or artist like one could using the iphone 4?

With my I phone 4 I could search by song or artist and access a song or album and then select purchase. Is it still possible to search by song or artist with the 7 version or must one always go through radio?

I understand that, as in some may still need SpeedGrade for specific things, however, when looking at the new premiere, it seems those specific things would be complex things that I don't do. I'll give an example, if you see what Colorista iii does, that's about as far as I know how to take color grading. It looks to me like the new premiere will have those features colorista has. Which is basically like Speed Grade but maybe not quite as complex.

Why album start with artist name?

HELP!! I am using Itunes 10.6.0.40 with a classic ipod (80 GB). I am running it on a Dell with Windows 7. When I look in Itunes, everything looks ok BUT there appears to be some VERY strange behavior when it comes to the album names. When I click on Music under Library everything looks ok. However, when I click on the Ipod (when connected) under Devices, select Music (after Summary), choose "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" as opposed to "Entire music library" the list of albums shows EVERY SINGLE album beginning with the artists name (see attached photo). Does anyone know what is going on and how to fix it?

The iOS firmware uses Album Artist as an extra field to glue tracks together and makes no use of the Compilations flag. For compilation albums (different artists) set the Album Artist as Various Artists, or something like OST Cast, as well as setting Part of compilation to Yes. For albums by a single Album Artist make use sure to fill in the Album Artist field, particularly if the Artist field on some tracks lists guest artists, and then set Part of compilation to No. On the device make sure that Settings > Music > Group By Album Artist is On.
I've no experience with in-car hook-up systems but the above should get your iPod touch organized sensibly.
Keep iTunes Media folder organized allows iTunes to rearrange your media in response to any changes you make to the tags. Generally I recommend that people let it do its thing, though personally I prefer to retain full control over the structure of my media files, despite the extra effort this entails. What is a good idea, if you like things your way, is to organize everything within the iTunes Media folder as this makes life much easier if you want to relocate the library to a bigger drive at some point, and makes it easier to back up. You needed this advice at the outset however, as rearranging your media your way once it has been imported will leave iTunes confused. The only other potential drawback with letting iTunes keep things organized is if you accidentally mass edit, say the album titles to nothing, there is no way short of restoring a backup to recover the lost information. If the files hadn't been reorganised then much of the data could have been restored with a tag editor. As long as you backup properly this drawback need not worry you...

How can I get a Album that contains multiple artists to appear as a single album with multiple tracks? Also when I sync iTunes with my iPhone or iPad the Album appears as multiple albums with each artist. The Album title is the same on each of the affected tracks.

Quick answer: Select all the tracks on the album, File > get info, and either give them all a single "album artist" or check the "compilation" flag.
If these are from multiple-CD sets you may also need to enter the appropriate information in the disc number fields.

EAX issues in games with Audigy SE, one way or the ot

Hello everyone. I hope I'm asking for help in the correct forum. If not, please forgive my noobishness. =)?I don't know what's wrong, but EAX in Bioshock has terrible issues. I have XPx64 SP2, Audigy SE and when my corvette was new, I obtained SoundBlaster drivers specifically for x64 from April 06. But these were terrible. In many games (f.e. FEAR) the sound was terribly distorted after a while with unbearable loud mechanic buzzing. I had a serious issue in Oblivion as it was rebooting my computer when I was loading a game and it took me a while until I realized that the x64 drivers are causing it. I got rid of them and installed reference drivers I bought on CD with the card and everything was fine. Now Bioshock came out. Overall the EAX works good in it, but I have some serious crackling. I tried to lower the sound channels/streams values in INI, but it didn't remove crackling. So I though I would update drivers again. Indeed, Creative has released unified drivers for XP and Vista last July. I installed them, launched Bioshock with EAX ON, loaded a game and ... AARGH, my ears! The sound was like zapping loudly and rapidly, a real acoustic horror. This means I have serious EAX issues with all newer drivers than the reference ones on CD, but even with the new ones I have crackling in Bioshock anyway, with addition of the audio distortion. I have tried to turn off EAX and use CMMS3D instead, with Reverb which doesn't seem to cause any problems in BS. The sound was deep and rich, except that the crackling and stuttering is still there!?No flawless sound for me. Is my Soundblaster physically borked or something... =(?

Well, I know that with SE, EAX processing is left for the CPU. You think this would be the source of problem?
I have no option to select from software or hardware mode in games' audio menu, devs normally don't do add that option to audio menus (at least I never seen it in any game yet). In games I can normally only select whether I want EAX or not, or just like in case of BioShock, whether I want to turn Reverb on or off, and it would be left for the drivers to call the CPU to process EAX.Message Edited by RogueKeeper on 0-6-200707:5 AM
