Issue with ASDM - PIX 535
Hi, I have the following situation:
When I try to save changes done through ASDM I'm getting the following Error Message:
However, if I save the running-config through the CLI I have no problems, and the performance of the device seem to be ok, I mean, the only problem I have is when I try to save changes through the ASDM, the configuration is loaded without problem.
Can any body help me??
Thanks!!

Additional cards on PIX 535 with UR license
Good day to each and everyone.
I just would like to inquire about adding a couple of cards on a PIX 535 with UR license with a 6.3(5) OS.
Currently, the firewall has the following:
one (1) 4 FE + four (4) 1 FE + 1 VPN Accelerator Card Plus (VAC+)
The choices would be the following:
a. 1 4-port FE card + 6 FE + 1 VPN Accelerator ( Additional 2 FE interfaces )
b. 2 GE + 4 FE + 1 4-port FE + 1 VPN Accelerator (Additional 2 GE interfaces)
My worry would be is how much impact would these additional interface to the PIX 535?
a . Additional two (2) FE cards
b. Additional two (2) GE cards
Could anybody enlighten me on this?
Thanks.PIX 535 has
Slots 0 and 1 Bus 0 64-bit/66 MHz
Slots 2 and 3 Bus 1 64-bit/66 MHz
Slots 4 to 8 Bus 2 32-bit/33 MHz
4FE and 1 FE cards use 32-bit/33 Mhz
VAC+ uses 64-bit/66 MHz....
So your are using 5 (all available 32-bit/33 MHz) and one 64-bit/66 MHz
In other words you have free 3 64-bit/66 Mhz buses
A)You want to add 2 FE - so you need place those cards to 64-bit/66 MHz
Cisco says to this option :" If more than five 33 MHz cards are needed, they may be installed in a 64-bit/66 MHz bus, but doing so will lower that bus speed and limit the potential throughput of any 66 MHz cards installed in that bus.....
B)Cisco has two GE cards
PIX-1GE uses 64-bit/33 MHz
PIX-1GE-66 uses 64-bit/66 MHz
PIX-1GE is same issue like using 33 Mhz card in 66 Mhz bus....
PIX-1GE-66 uses 64-bit/66 MHz so no problem with installing to 64-bit/66 MHz
So all options are possible but i recommend to add two PIX-1GE-66 cards

We have a PIX 535 with unlimited lisence, it has 1,048,953 in use connections because the timeouts have been changed to 24 hour.
I am addressing this issue but was wondering why its so high when the max concurrent sessions is supposed to be 500,000 as listed in the product spec.
Also when it reaches it max and cannot allocate a connection what PIX syslog error message number would it send?It does support maximum of 500,000 concurrent connections. However, since you have change the timeout to be 24 hours, the connection does not get torn down and there might be lots of idle connection. So even you are seeing 1 million in use connections, the real active connection might not be that many.
I don't believe there is any syslog error messages that will tell you when it can't allocate anymore connection on the PIX. I have searched through the entire PIX syslog, and coulnd't find any. -
Hello,
Not much firewall experience so looking for some assistance. I have Pix 535 running 8.0 in single context mode. I created Multiple sub interfaces for my guest users. Each interface is a separate subnet with a security interface level of 90. I also have a sub interface with a higher security of 95 which is a management interface/subnet where my web filtering server sits.
The way it works is all the traffic comes into a switch where they are trunked to the firewall. I have a TAP setup on the interface to the firewall that inspects traffic and sends it to the URL filter. I have a separate trunk port on the same switch to the web filter server itself. The webfilter see's the traffic coming from the tap and attempts to send the block page via the trunk port but it cannot reach the device on the other interfaces at all. I have an ACL setup on the inside of the management sub interface to allow IP traffic from the URL filter to all of my subnets where guest access resides.
any ideas? Not doing any NAT'ing internally only a global PAT on the outside. seems like I can't get the interfaces to talk to each other. So if i'm on 1 subnet I can't communicate with the other subnet which is OK. I really want the mgment subnet to be able to talk to all of the other subnets.
Thanks,You would need to configure static nat to itself for it to work, ie:
eg: management network is 192.168.1.0/24, and is named mgmt (security level 95), and other interface is called dmz (security level 90):
static (mgmt,dmz) 192.168.1.0 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0
That should resolve your issue. -
Amazon S3 Backup with Cisco PIX 501 Router - slowww
We are in the process of setting up an Amazon S3 network backup of the NAS server we have in our office. We are using a Synology NAS to backup to Amazon s3, and we use a Cisco PIX 501 to secure our network. The backup from the NAS to Amazon is going painfully slow, so I contacted Synology to resolve the issue. After they examined everything, they think the router is filtering outbound traffic, and this is causing the upload to slow down. I was told the upload should happen over HTTP and HTTPS, and I made sure these ports where open through the Access Rules. There are no rules defined in the Filter Settings.
I looked at the settings with the PDM, and I can't find where the filtering would be. Does someone have any insight to what could be happening? I'm not too familiar with the PIX or all the network settings involved.

RV110W issues with VOIP service
Hi
I'm new to the forum and tearing my hair out here. We have an RV110W with a mix of computers and VOIP handsets.
Strange thing is that after 16 minutes of a VOIP call, the port seems to get swapped and the call hangs.
The VOIP provider, who is pretty worthless by the way - don't use Vivo Telecommunications - has decided that the problem resides at the firewall, They say:
The port swapping will be caused by the firewall, there are 1 of 2 causes: SIP Awareness; there are several things that can affect this most firewalls have SIP Alg but it can be disabled, also the NAT refresh time needs to be set correctly.
They have suggested some commands to apply -
Cisco PIX firewall – run the command “no fixup protocol sip 5060”
Cisco ASA 7.2+ – run the command “no inspect sip”
Has anyone else seen this issue?
If so and you think these commands might work, can someone point me to the correct way to do that? I am really only used to dealing with the web-based UI to configure the firewall.
Thanks
StephenStephen
The router has no settings for that. Make sure you have the latest firmware installed, there may have been an issue with the older firmware(s).
If the router is causing the issue then it has a bug. If you have another router, try it and see if you get the same result. If not, connect a VoIP handset directly to the ISP and make a call. If it breaks after 16 minutes, you know that the issue is with the ISP or VoIP provider, not the router. Another option is to disconnect everything from the RV110W (for security) except for a VoIP handset. Turn the firewall off on the router and try a call.
If you find that the problem is in fact caused by the RV110W, please open a case:

Our church used an HP for 12 years that was refurbished and finally died. We captured Sunday services for broadcast using Avid Express connected to a Broadcast Pix Switcher via an Avid Mojo with a firewire cable. This week, I replaced it the HP with a Mac in hopes of using Final Cut Pro to capture and edit video for broadcast. Will Final Cut Pro X recognize Avid Mojo interfacing with Broadcast Pix? If so, how do I accomplish this? Currently I have the mojo connected to the Mac via a firewire adapter through the thunderbolt port. However, the Mac isn't seeing the mojo or the cameras connected to the switcher.
Just turned off background rendering.
I'm not certain what you mean for specs in a specific point in the video, but here are the specs for the entire edit I initially received:
Dimensions: 1920 X 1080
Codecs: H.264, AAC, Timecode
2 Audio Channels
Total bit rate: 12,083
Size: 951,735,770 bytes (951.7 MB on disk)
Here are the specs for the exported video that has the audio issue:
Dimensions: 1920 X 1080
Codecs: H.264, AAC, Timecode
2 Audio Channels
Total bit rate: 12,274
Size: 966,817,082 bytes (966.8 MB on disk)
The video is 10:28 minutes long and the audio leaves at 5:57.
If that wasn't what you were looking for, just let me know. I'm not very good with technical stuff sometimes so may have misunderstood.
Is there something I should have done to the piece before I began color correcting it, like transcoding? -
Issues with Remote Users, VPN Connections, etc.
Hi there,
A few weeks ago I was asked to enable EWS and Outlook Anywhere which had not been previously enabled. I did so, but this seemed to cause issues (they may not have been implemented correctly) for users in remote offices; they would be prompted
for credentials to log into Outlook 2010, but no issues with OWA. I disabled Outlook Anywhere as it turned out we didn't need it, and this has caused VPN users to now not be able to open Outlook.
At this point I'm not sure what the issue is. I've tried implementing a few fixes from Googling around but haven't been able to determine the root cause and actually caused more issues this morning, where many local users were being prompted for credentials,
which was alleviated by creating new mail profiles for them.
We're using Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010, with OWA being served by Forefront TMG.
I've seen in some other cases where results of the following queries were asked for, so here they are:

Get-OutlookAnywhere | fl
No output.
I've also run the Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer locally, which appears to fixate on Outlook Anywhere connectivity and fails because OA isn't enabled. Specifically it reports that "The EXPR Provider section is missing in the Autodiscover response.
RPC over HTTP may not be enabled."Hi Steve,
According to the description, my understanding as below:
1. To make users use Outlook externally, you want to enable Outlook Anywhere. However cannot connect to Exchange server via Outlook, it prompts password again and again.
2. Because Outlook Anywhere doesn't work, so you disable it and enable VPN. But it doesn't work neither.
Please correct me if there is any misunderstanding.
Based on the result of running Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer, it means that the Outlook Anywhere is disabled. However it isn't an error.
I suggest enable Outlook Anywhere on Exchange server 2010 and configure Outlook Anywhere on Outlook.

Auto-Signon issue with RADIUS authentication
Hi all, i post again a question Posted by ronin2307 on Nov 27, 2007, 9:40am PST
I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH 8.0.3 release!
Hi,
we have a fairly simple configuration running on our ASA and try to make use of the webvpn on occasion. The feature used to work great with 7.2, but after we upgraded to 8.0 we started having problems.
Basically an user (network admin) can log in through the webvpn interface (authenticated by a RADIUS server) and see the links to network shares we provide, click on them and at that point the user is promptedfor credentials again. upon entering them then message comes up that the access to the resources has been blocked due to security reasons.
Now to me that makes no sense whatsoever. I have already run the following command:
auto-signon allow ip 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 auth-type ntlm
to try to prevent the second credentials prompt but to doesn't do anything.
I also tried to capture the webvpn traffic, according to the user manual, but now i have a zip file that contains bunch of files, I cannot read (except notepad, but that doesn't help a lot). Ethereal will not open the files. I couldn't get to display the capture in the browser as described in the manual.
can anybody give me an idea on what to do to troubleshoot this problem? Thank you very much. For single sign on using NTLM on a webVPN set up, you need to ensure you configure it through the command line. Did you use the ASDM for this single sign on? To configure auto-signon for all WebVPN users to servers with IP addresses ranging from
10.1.1.0 to 10.1.1.255 using NTLM authentication, for example, enter the following
commands:
hostname(config)# webvpn
hostname(config-webvpn)# auto-signon allow ip 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.0 auth-type ntlm

High CPU Utilization on PIX-535
Hi All,
We are using Pix 535 as an external FW in our network and we are expiriencing high CPU utilization. The CPU is jumping to 60%-70% every 60 min.
I am using Cacti to monitor all the interfaces and we don't have a huge traffic that interface. Also I could not see any corolation between the traffic and the CPU graph. See below the screenshut of the CPU from Cacti:
Yesterday I changeed the perfmon setting to 3000000 and the CPU dropped down to 26%-30% for around 2hr and then it us started again to jump every 60min.
We are about to replace our Pix but in the meantime we are suffering from disconnetion , and slowness in our network.
Anybody has this issue?

Hi everyone,
I am running into a strange issue with calculating XIRR using the following data set. If I specify guess as 0.1 , XIRR is 30%, but if I chose guess as 0.9, XIRR calculates to 163%. Which one is correct? Does XIRR calculation in Excel depend
on the guess value? Please advise. Appreciate any help in advance!

Shahfaisal Muhammed http://shahfaisalmuhammed.blogspot.comAccording to Microsoft ’s official documentation, the Guess parameter is just regarded as a starting point for XIRR function to calculate the internal rate, it doesn’t affect the result.
But based on my test by using the data you given, I get the same result. So it might be an issue of XIRR function itself.

Issues with Creative Cloud for teams deployment workflow
The Adobe Creative Cloud for teams IT Deployment Guide lists out steps for IT admins to deploy the CS6 applications and then have their end-users license the trial software with their Adobe IDs once they have been invited to the team. There are two major issues with this document.
First, the media that is on the FTP is not for North American English. We are working to get that posted on the FTP site ASAP. In the meantime, you can find the CS6 MC media from: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/
[Note: Getting media from that page requires the use of the Adobe Download Assistant which is very consumer focused. Sorry about that.]
Second, in order to have the ability to login properly with a Creative Cloud for Teams account the system needs to have the latest copy of Adobe Application Manager installed. If you do not do this step the end user will be prompted for a serial number.
Unfortunately the Adobe Application Manager can’t be packaged with AAMEE nor is it a native installer. I know, I know! Here are the links to the Adobe Application Manager installers:
Windows: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4773
Mac: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4774
It can be installed from command line by:
Win: <Path to Setup.exe>Set-up.exe –mode=silent –action=install
Mac: <path to ASU> /ASU/Install.app/Contents/MacOS/Install –mode=silent –action=install
Jody Rodgers | Sr. Product Manager | Creative Cloud for Enterprise | Adobe SystemsHi Boncker,
I see that you have an active Subscription under your account . Please launch any of the installed product and when you get the trial prompt , please click on License this software and then Enter the Adobe Id & Password for the account that you have accepted the invite .
Please do let us know if that worked for you or not .
Cheers,

Issue with magsafe/charging (blinks green, amber, off)
Having a quirky issue with my mid-2009 Macbook Pro.
A month or so ago, I began having an issue with my macbook charging. When the computer is up and running and I plug in the magsafe it will say "Calculating..." and then say "Not Charging" and then switch to battery use. It constantly does this as long as the magsafe is connected. The lights on the magsafe will constantly cycle from green to amber to no light.
At first, it would do it a few times then it would start charging. Now it constantly does this without ever stopping. I was editing video the other day for a while and it never stopped the cycle.
Thinking it was the battery, I took it into the Apple Store last week and got a new battery because it had been saying "Service battery" for a while and the battery would only last about 20 minutes on a charge. So I just thought the battery finally refused to charge.
But the problem still exists.
The magsafe is new (only 3 months old) and here's the quirky thing: the computer will charge if it's asleep (lid closed) or shut down completely. No blinking lights at all. It will charge as long as it's asleep or shut down. So I don't think it's the charger. But as soon as you hit the power button to starting booting up, it will blink.
I have reset the SMC a couple times actually, but no change.
Is there something software/firmware related that I haven't tried? Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I take it back to the Apple Store (which is about an hour away).
Thanks!Try resetting the system management controller

If that did nothing for you, try resetting the NVRAM

Issue With Page Break When Sorting is also applied on group
Hi
I am facing an issue with Page break only when I have sorting applied on the grouping that I have in the template.
The following is the sample XML

In the template I group the data based on CLASSIFICATION and then sort on the same column CLASSIFICATION. I have a page-break applied for every group.
When I generate the PDF, I am not getting the page-breaks for every group. Instead some of them are displayed in the same page.
But when I remove the sorting that I had in the template on the column CLASSIFICATION, I am getting the output in the desired way but not in a sorted order.
kumarHi All,
I am using MS-WORD 2007 and BI Publisher desktop 10.1.3.3.3.
When I use split-by-page-break, splitting is performed for every line .. but not for group of lines.
Can anybody throw some light on this?
FYI...
I am using this code:
?if: position() mod 6= 0?
?split-by-page-break:?
?end if?
(Of course with in tags)
in G_LINES loop.
Can anybody help me out :-(

Issue with PTO (Paid Time Off) quota generation
Hi All,
We have an issue with quota generation of PTO for our employees.
The issue goes like this:
We have a Paid time off for employees 5weeks( 200 hrs) for employees who have worked less than 5 years.
we have paid time off for employees 6 weeks ( 240 hrs) for employees who have worked more than 5 years.
we have the following logic that has to go in this config:
-- Our fiscal year starts on Feb 1st and ends on Jan end or Feb starts which has a full week of working days. ( ex: if 01/31/2012 falls on a Thursday the following Monday which has full 5 day working week would be the end of the fiscal year).
-- Depending on the working hours of the employees and the date of joining for the first year ( for new hires)0041 info type the eligibility gets varied and reduced. Ex( employees who joins on start of fiscal year and works 40hrs per week schedules is eligible for 200hrs of PTO. Employees who join in the month of august and works for 35 hrs per week ( i.e mid of fiscal year) would get 91 hrs of PTO.
I need to put this in the system. I am thinking this could be done with out tweaking PCR.I need help in configuring this in Absence quotas as to what are the things i need change in system config and how do i do it. Please help with some screen shots if possible. I really need this to get it done ASAP. Looking forward for help.
Thanks,
Chowdary. We use TM00 schema. Can i call TS15 and TS 12 rules into TM00 acheieve my issue of quota entilements?
Iam doing this because my businees needs to see if an employee chages his work schedule from 40 to 30 or 20 etc.. the PTO has to vary accordingly.
As the minimum eligibility is to work for 20 hrs to avail the PTO days. If at any point the employee drops it under 20 he will not be eligible till he work any this >= 20hrs per month so the evaluation has to check periodically to update the quota availability.... I need help plz suggest ...
