Issue with audio recorded playing early on playback
My system is a follows:
2 x Quad 2.8 Mac Pro (3,1)
8GB ram
OSX 10.9.3
Logic Pro X
Sound - Line 6 UX1 / Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 (issue untested with this card)
The issus - any audio I record (guitar/bass) plays a few milliseconds early (ahead of the beat) on playback. I keep having to move the region back a little to get the audio in time with the click (& no it's not my playing).
I'm not sure if my setting are wrong or there is something else going on here...
I did a google & apple forum search but found nothing - anyone heard of this issue before? Or are my audio setting off?
I've yet to try with my Saffire but will do so in the next few days...
Hi Seeren - my recording delay is set to what it has always been - the minimum. To be perfectly honest Im not exactly sure how this should be set...

Experiencing issues with audio scrubbing in Premiere cc 2014
Since upgrading I've been having issues with audio scrubbing in Premiere CC 2014.
Some of the time it won't scrub at all (silence) when I know that scrubbing option is turned on. Other times it will scrub the wrong section of the timeline, I'll hear dialogue from a different point in a clip.
Much of the time I experience this I'm working with multicam clips in sequences.
Working on iMac 2013, 32GB RAM, NVIDIA 780
thank you.Hi IP,

Yes, but it's Saturday. And I'm on vacation. You know??
Sorry that we do not have 24-7 support. The best time to catch us is 7AM-7PM PST, Monday to Friday.

Currently using / testing a 30 day trial of CC 2014 (CS5 user for years with no issues) and all was fine yesterday when editing. Turned on today and had no way to scrub audio. Also had no Intensity Pro external monitor which worked fine the day before. Restarted PC and still nothing so starting poking around with the playback settings in preferences by choosing Adobe Desktop audio in the audio device section choosing OK then selecting back to Blackmagic audio then hit Ok. All of a sudden there was my external monitor and was able to scrub audio again. It's like it's sleeping knowing it should work until you poke it a few times to wake it up. How my Intensity Pro external monitor and scrubbing audio being related in any way is perplexing. Or am I being obtuse?
I would contact Blackmagic Design to make sure your drivers are current. Can you try that?

ITunes Match is on but IPhone 5 cannot access any songs stored in the iCloud. I have no issues with my IPad playing music stored in the cloud. All settings appear correct. ITunes Match is turned on on my PC. No matter what I do I cannot get get any music even when I try to sync tunes purchased from the IStore.

So I noticed the problem with the app iHeart Radio. While listening to the app, it would stop playing without any noticeable issues. For example, I'm on a WiFi network, operating it where I normally had no issues. I deleted the app because if became so annoying. I now notice the same issues with podcast app when playing back a downloaded program. Also, more than a few times of the day Siri will just randomly open. I am wondering what options do I have to discover the problem. COuld it be the most recent IOS update? I don't want to have to restore an old backup and loose data.

Issue of Audio not playing in IOS still here with EA 2014.1.1
Edge Animate. No audio when viewed on my ipad and galaxy android. Just like previous discussion that I found. It appears audio worked fine in previous version but not now. Adobe often goes backwards with updates. App gets worse not better. Hey guys, first do no harm.
I tried coding work arounds but no progress.
Is this being work on in the next Edge update?
Also: how can I make the audio stop playing when the view goes on to another page?Dew,
Can you verify that include audio is checked on the Project:Publish Settings dialog in the Preferences dialog accessed using the button on the Publish Dialog?

CS5.5--Issues with audio from imported avi's & issues exporting
To Start, my laptop:
CPU: Intel® Core ™ i7-2330QM CPU @ 2.00 GHz
CPU Clock Frequency: 2.00 GHz
System Memory: 8 GBytes
Cache Memory: 1 MBytes/6 Mbytes
Manufacturer: Sony Corporation
Model name: VPCF226FM
BIOS VERSION: R1190V#
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
ME Version: 7.0.10.1203
System Type: 64-bit Operating System
I downloaded the 30-day free trial of Premiere Pro CS5.5 with all updates. To play with the program, for my own personal amusement, I wanted to edit together pieces from a bunch of avi videos that I know to play properly outside the program, tested on more than one computer.
At first, importing the files seemed to be no problem, making subclips as I went along.
However, as I continued to import files, there began to be a sound issue--sometimes the sound not being present till I was 1/3 of the way through the clip, sometimes the sound seemingly playing catch up with audio that should be earlier in the video appearing later, sometimes the sound wouldn't come up at all, and still other times I'd be, for example, on video 5 when pieces of audio from video 2 would start playing over the current video.
I initially thought it may just be a memory issue, working with many large video files.
But later, when I went to edit the subclips I made, I found that many of them no longer had sound, even if they did when I initially subclipped them.
Weirdly, in the timeline, there is no consistency, as clips will appear in the video track but only some show audio tracks too. But those with audio tracks don't always play audio and those that show NO audio tracks at all actually do play audio sometimes. Also, those that show audio tracks and don't play them sometimes will show waveforms, sometimes don't. A clip with no waveform may not play 95% of the time, but then occasionally will suddenly have the waveform and play a couple times before reverting back to no audio.
A suitable solution for this personal amusement project would just be to drop a new soundtrack over the thing but, before I even got that far, I tried exporting as avi's and mpeg4's but then get error messages such as:
Premiere Pro has encountered an error.
[..\..\Src\Win\WinFile.cpp-785]
Error compiling movie.
Unknown error.
In case it was a memory issue, I tried starting a new project, only importing 2 videos, but had the same audio and exporting issues.
I'm getting really frustrated as I spent a lot of time importing/subclipping and then even more time prepping before that.
For those who are bound to ask, while new to Premiere, I'm not a novice with editing. I've used Final Cut Pro at work for many years (without such issues).

Hello, I'm Having an Issue with my Audio in AE. When I try to Shift-RAM preview my footage It doesn't play any of the audio from the Footage. The video itself plays fine, but no audio. When I ad it to render que and publish it, it plays audio.
For the record, the footage is not muted, and if I put in just an audio clip it plays it fine.
Thanks!
JasonHave you really checked that the audio is not muted under Shift+Ram Preview Options? It has to look like the right image.
I'm just asking again because when it's muted and you scrub the timeline with control key pressed down you get audio even when it's muted in the Preview window !
and don't push the play button (plays without audio) push the RamPreview button |||> (the one on the right side)
If you did everything right and still have no audio then take a look into Preferences/Audio Hardware and change the audio driver or the sample size buffer to see if that helps.
The default 'Sample Size Buffer' value for the driver 'After Effects WDM Sound' is 2048.
If that don't help - I'm out of answers
Good luck -
EtreCheck results, Issues with RAM while playing game
I have been having issues playing a computer game on my MBP and the game crashes. Now it seems to be having an issue with saving and the error code it gives states there is not enough RAM to be able to save. Not sure what the issue is or how to free up the RAM. Does the RAM get dumped every time I restart my computer or does the inactive RAM keep piling up? Anyways here is my EtreCheck, anyone see anything out of the normal or what I should do to free up this RAM while playing. I don't understand why I am having so many issues with this, my computer is pretty good and should be able to handle anything with no problems.

In the last few weeks I have been experiencing multiple issues with my iTunes.
I believe it began when my itunes library corrupted and I had to start again.
By starting again I mean I went to previous itunes libraries and used the most recent backup.
After I noticed a large number of unknown error (-50) messages I thought I better copy the backup I was using from the previous libraries folder over to the itunes folder (in case the error related to failed attempts to back up the library).
This problem in itself wasn't too bad as I am able to close and relaunch iTunes and carry on however I have noticed some less desirable side effects - the loss of home sharing. I am unable to pick speakers to broadcast to (I have 2 airport express units plugged in and working and an Apple TV2) and I am unable to access the iTunes library on Apple TV.
I've done some basic troubleshooting: creating rules to allow the home sharing ports, temporarily disabling antivirus/firewall, uninstalling antivirus/firewall, setting up rules on the router for homesharing ports, uninstalling iTunes, rebooting, reinstalling iTunes and retrying, disabling home sharing and reenabling, disabling peerblock, deauthorising itunes and reauthorising and rebooting both the pc and Apple TV, checking sharing settings under preferences and verifying both the entire library is shared and that the status of home sharing is on but no devices connected, created a new library and reimporting my media and the problem still exists.
I noticed that occasionally when I switch between libraries, deauthorise and reauthorise I do get access to home sharing and Apple Tv gets full access to the library BUT iTunes quickly becomes unresponsive and when I close and relaunch Apple TV can no longer see my library or iTunes.
I have checked the network I am running on is marked as a home network, I have tried connecting the Apple TV via LAN instead of WiFi but this makes no difference. What I do find interesting is that I have iTunes running on another pc and on a virtual machine and as soon as I run either their libraries appear on Apple TV so there must be something about the installation on my pc and nothing wrong with the Apple TV, airport express, router etc.
With that in mind I retried an uninstall and this time deleted as many tmp files as I could see in the iTunes library folder, rebooted and reinstalled. I also checked the permission levels on the iTunes application folder and the iTunes library folder (located on an additional internal drive), I then tried running iTunes as an administrator (which my user account is already set as) but all the problems are still evident.
The determining gapless playback has no effect on how I use iTunes but it clearly does not need to run for every single recently added track any time I make a minute change to other library entries. I tried looking up one of the files it was determining gapless playback for but it wasn't corrupt or read only so I don't see why it needs to retry continually.
I'm running Windows 7 64bit with all latest updates installed and iTunes 64bit 10.6.3.25, all apple devices are running the latest version of firmware and I'm running out of ideas. I did try running CCleaner to clear up and registry issues if there were any and I ran Appcleaner to remove any iTunes cache that may have been left between installs. I'm running out of ideas - what am I missing here?I have found the problem was in part caused by Windows firewall.
Exactly how Windows firewall can cause the problem when I wasn't even using it I don't know.
What I do know is that when I checked 'allow a program through the firewall' I found 4 rules set for iTunes, one of which was public network access.
I deleted the superfluous rules and the Home Sharing problems are solved.
All that needs sorting now is the 'determining gapless playback'. -
Issues with screensaver after playing video in iTunes
I've recently started having an issue with my screensaver not turining itself on if i pause videos played in iTunes (fullscreen), and after escaping fullscreen view and pausing video the screensaver won't turn itself on. At all, not until I restart my iMac.
The iMac is completely up to date (OS X 10.7.2), bought mid-2011, came with Lion. I just got the iMac back from repair service, it should be working fine. Why is this happening? My guess is that you have an Nvidia Nforce SATA controller, and are affected by a known bug in the Nvidia driver. Apple mention it briefly at the bottom of this document. HP have posted what appears to be a standard Microsoft SATA driver here to work around the problem until Nvidia releases an updated driver. Since it appears to be a standard driver, you may be able to install it on a non-HP system too.

I've been recording Software Simulations in monitor 2 (screen 2 of 2) and an application in monitor 2 to produce automatic demo, assessment and training output. It should be possible but the system doesn't capture all recordable actions (the result is 1 slide for each of demo, assessment and training versions with the ‘final’ screen view and one mouse movement). However if I shift my recording area to screen 1 (i.e. monitor 1) there are no issues. It can be worked around, however is there some other set-up option I'm overlooking?
Thanks in advance for any input.
JennyThank you so much for posting your question. I would have never stopped to think that which screen I was trying to record might make a difference. I was having huge issues with a software simulation not capturing all the necessary screen changes (on Monitor 2), but after reading your post, I moved it to Monitor 1, and it's working as it should again.
You just saved me lots of frustration. -

Canberra + XFCE - issues with canberra-gtk-play and canberra-boot
Hi,
I know it's not exactly essential to a functioning system, but still it's an issue with libcancerra:
There are the services for system bootup, shutdown and restart which I enabled by 'sudo systemctl enable canberra-system-bootup.service'. A status query shows that 'canberra-boot' is enabled, ran on boot and exited with success but there is never any sound being played. Manually invoking canberra-boot (with all possible event ids and without any parameters) never plays anything nor does it show any output whatsoever. I wonder what is wrong here. I tried it on another Arch-based system and it worked fine.
Freedesktop sound theme files are in place as needed and all dependencies seem to be satisfied. 'canberra-gtk-play' works as expected although the XFCE autostarter which I've created (canberra-gtk-play --id="desktop-login") sometimes successfully plays the sound and sometimes it just doesn't. Maybe something with XFCE's volume daemon?
I've already reinstalled libcanberra and disabled and reenabled the bootup service several times.
If there's anyone who has experienced similar issues and has an idea how to solve it, please shoot
GreetingsNot to be too rude, but you're using Ubuntu-patched apps on a Debian system... Wouldn't the Debian forums be a far better place to ask this?

Issue with Audio Playback and Uninterrupted Playback in MPE (Hardware Mode)
I'm currently using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 with the latest update (6.0.1).
I'm encountering a very serious problem where the audio from my video clips mute sudddenly when I'm editing and playing back. This happens when other music or audio in the audio lanes (tracks) below that particular 'video clip audio' plays just fine. It literally mutes without any parameter change. This only happens to some of the clips while some plays back normally. I have to reopen my project to fix this and after 30 or 40 minutes of editing it happens again.
And the Source monitor blacks out when it do edits while I'm playing back video. (It's really disappinting when the most anticipated feature in Premiere CS6 fails to work in my computer) I'm editing in the MPE Hardware Mode and if I switch back to MPE Software mode this problem goes away.
My Camera is a Canon XF300 and I'm using the 50 Mb/s MXF 422 format. I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with the camera because the clips work just fine in CS5.5
My System Specs are;
Intel Core i7-2600 3.4GHz
16GB RAM
nVidia GeForce GTX 570 2GB (eVGA)
Windows 7 Ultimate
Blackmagic Studio Card (Onboard but Disabled)
Alesis Firewire Audio io26
4x 1TB Segate Hard-Drives
Help is really appreciated.
Cheers Mates! How do I do that? And just the project file would be enough?
And I found another person with the same "Audio" problem as mine but his workaround isn't working for me.

I guess you can get a better picture about the problem from that post.
Thanks Harm for your helpfulness. -
Okay...sorry to start another thread, but I don't want what I'm coming to understand to get buried in another thread, as I'm getting at the gist of this now I think.
My experience of my 55 minute movie getting dogged down, out of sync, video freezing and such...(after reading the link Karl provided) seems to infer that this is a common problem and one that is frustrating quite a few Mac/iMovie owners. I read over the number of threads on "stutter" and should I buy a stand alone Intel Duo 2 Core computer with iMovie6 and Final Cut Express loaded... I'm likely to have the same problem regardless, because this seems to be an issue and bug...
It was something else reading members suggesting to "try this"..."try that"...export the film back to the digital camera but in small portions. Turn small sections into Quicktime...and then try to load them into iDVD as chapters. Good grief.
If I've got the money allocated to me to purchase this new Intel...plus an external hard drive...I'm wondering why not instead invest in Adobe Premier 2.0 and Adobe Encore DVD for our PC's in the PC lab? We already have Adobe Photoshop 7.0 on those anyway..and it must be a good program as Apple goes, as I understand Adobe is making a future come back with this software for Mac.
Any thoughts why THAT direction might not be the best way to go?
I can't see trying to teach my kids to play this jump around try this...try that game with iMovie if this "stutter" thing is as common as I was reading.
You know...life gets a little this versus that. Harley folks versus the Honda. Chevy versus the Ford....but, we have both a Mac and a PC lab. I'm an artist and teacher and only interested in what's going to work...so, I share that not because I am biased one way or the other. I'm looking for solutions and don't want the school board and administration breathing down my back...if you know what I mean... $$$$$$
thanksI've heard it said a couple times (me...I wouldn't
know as I'm somewhat a newbie to this stuff), but
that iMovie is kinda a basic fun level not too
serious video editing software. Good for your 3-6
minute YouTube variety videos, but not more
professional. Then again, I read one member here
saying they produced a six hour video with 400 still
images. Didn't say what they had for sound though.
People say lots of things about iMovie, sometimes with little or no knowledge. Suggesting that iMovie can handle only 3-6 minute movies is an example.
iMovie can do lots of things, but iMovie isn't a professional application so there are things it can't do. You can't create a multi-layer video clip, for example, where one video image slides across another behind it. But you CAN create multiple (static) layers of video in QuickTime Pro — which every serious iMovie user should have, in my opinion — and import that clip to iMovie. So if you want a picture-in-picture effect, you can have it in iMovie.
The success of a movie made with iMovie depends more on creativity and knowledge of the software than anything else. And like any application, you gotta learn the bugs, and how to deal with them.
Don't forget the huge advantage iMovie offers: the learning curve is not nearly as long or steep as professional editors. If you want to spend most of your time teaching about the software, use a professional application. If you want to spend your time teaching about making great movies, iMovie may be a very good choice.
One thing I haven't done is to look over my Sonar 3
music producing software for which we record music.
You know how it is...you get into this routine that
works again and again, and mindlessly I just save to
wav. format. I'll have to look...but I'm sure there
are any number of audio formats that could be burned
as voiceovers. Not familiar with AIFF...
AIFF is one of many audio formats supported by QuickTIme, the system software iMovie is based on. It is the audio format used by commercial audio CDs. It's what iMovie uses too. Any audio file you import to iMovie is (automatically) converted to AIFF. The audio of all video imported from a video camera is converted to AIFF.
Some audio files convert better than others. Sometimes non-AIFF songs imported from iTunes convert poorly, for example, and can cause stutter. I suspect it has to do with the compression of those files by iTunes, but I don't know that for sure.
I take it AIFF must be a bit like a .gif or .jpeg
photo image over a large .TIFF image? Condensed and
smaller. Is there much detectable noticeable
difference in quality?
Actually, AIFF is like the .TIFF image. It's the large, high-quality audio format.
Now...also Karl, you say you've never seen this
problem so...it could be that we'd clear this issue
simply by getting a stand alone machine and external
drive...but unless perhaps I go about producing my
audio tracks differently...we might still have the
same problems.
No, if the number of audio clips is causing the stutter, a standalone machine may not prevent it.
Have you tried moving your iMovie project to your local machine and testing it for stutter? That should provide a clue whether stutter is caused by, made worse by, or not affected by the network.
What...do most people use some kind of microphone
plugged into the computer to make voice overs?
Yes. Our voiceovers are automatically added to the iMovie project as AIFF files.
For voiceovers I use a simple Radio Shack combo headphone/mic plugged into a Griffin iMic, plugged into a USB port. Total cost: about $60.
With a professional studio, I can remove silence
noise, master sound and so forth. Garageband does
all that quite easily?
Sorry, no idea. (I don't use GarageBand.)
You've not heard much about the "stutter" issue...I
think it was oe of the posts where I was advised to
check out a link. When I searched "stutter" I got a
feeling for what others are doing, but no real SIMPLE
solution seemed to have been resolved to go about
dealing with it. Certainly nothing that I could
realistically teach HS students. They need a user
friendly option pure and simple.
I agree you need a user friendly solution. But the first step is to figure out what's causing the problem. then decide whether that's going to be a common problem in your lab. If the stutter you see is caused by having 100 audio clips in the project, but 99% of your projects have fewer than 80, it won't be a big problem. You can use a workaround if/when stutter occurs on the occasional project. (I wouldn't want to waste lots of time teaching workarounds, it doesn't hurt for students to learn a bit about workarounds too.)
One last thing...you mention "exporting the audio
clips" and then "importing them back" to convert to
AIFF...
you are doing this right from iMovie..and then what
or where are you doing this conversion?
Yes, it's all done in iMovie. iMovie lets us export the audio from a portion of the Timeline to an AIFF file, then re-import it.
The large "stutter topic" linked to earlier describes Workaround 4, how to combine audio clips.
Here's a link to that workaround:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2597029
If that link doesn't work, click on the "more options" link above the search box on this page. Then do this:

That message is part of the much longer "stutter thread". If you haven't read the first message of that thread, you should. It describes how to test your project to learn whether the number of audio clips is causing stutter.
You mentioned you are importing .wav files to the iMovie project. That MAY be causing the problem. iMovie converts them to AIFF, and like a few iTunes songs, it's possible that conversion isn't going well. You need to rule it out as the cause. Your audio software should let you create AIFF files too.
