Issue with font list in CS3

When cycling through fonts, there is a glitch that is rather annoying. There is a certain section of fonts that occur between the fonts that begin with a number, and the fonts that have more than 1 a in the beginning of the name.
For instance...
After A Charming Font family, it skips to Adlib then straight to Baskerville and probably about 50 or so fonts that are not placed properly in alphabetical order.
The problem occurs when I am cycling and come to Arial, amongst other fonts, that are in the list that aren't organized properly. So if I am cycling through the F's and come to Futura BT, it brings me back to that list of misplaced fonts which starts me at the beginning of the A's again.
This makes using the arrow keys and scrolling the list of fonts very frustrating.
I am running CS3 on Windows XP. I work at an art department and we synched our font collection a few months back, but I can't seem to find the problem.
Another problem occurs with certain fonts that are in the font folder twice... Diskus is one of them.

Thanks,
I undoubtedly have some shaky fonts. I have some font programs and wonder how to identify what fonts are "bad". What should I look for? It is lousy that we have to do this - a font should either be usable, or rejected by cs3.
In a different forum I was advised to turn off font previews. This worked, but is lame. I now disable previews dependent on the project (i.e. if it requires a lot of text). At least I am able to highlight a section of text, then scroll through the font list (which automatically changes the text to each font).
One other possibility is a bug with logitech setpoint drivers. I have noticed that my MX mouse has some effect upon the text scrolling problem. The mouse is capable of being set to "click to click" or "fly wheel". I am able to go through MORE fonts when the fly wheel is disabled (although the fonts DO eventually zoom back up to the top). Perhaps CS3 can't keep up with a mouse that scrolls quickly. Regardless, the problem remains.
Hopefully someone will figure this out. After multiple inquiries by dozens of people over the years, Adobe will not address the issue. Worst of all, CS4 users are already reporting the same problem!

I am having font issues with font book. It validates the font, yet it is not availabe in my software programs (Adobe  or Microsoft). What can I do to use these fonts?
I actually created these fonts with fontagrapher in 1998 and have been using them regularly ever since and now they are not available in InDesign. I really need to use them.

I found a page on Adobe, Troubleshoot fonts | Mac OS X
On PostScript type 1 fonts you need to copy/move the fonts to the correct font folder because Font Book doesn't copy them into the folder. Select the fonts double-click the fonts and Find in the font Book app and validate.
The correct font folder depends how you are set up. I am by myself so my font folder was MyHarddrive/Library/Fonts. I was using Suitcas fusion and the fonts are located in a different folder.
Most of the fonts have worked. Go to
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-fonts-mac-os-x.html
    This should help. Good Luck.

  • Perfomance issue with SharePoint List.

    Current System:
Our application (for submitting and publishing articles) is using WSS 3.0
to store content and host workflows.
Article content like PDFs, Images & Videos are stored in a SharePoint document library.
There is also a list in which we have configured a custom state machine workflow. While creating an list SP item from the UI, instance of the configured workflow instance will be triggered and start monitoring.
Each article belongs to a Journal.  We have TBs of data stored in content databases. Initially there was only one site collection (“http://<myweb:8080>/ArtcleLibrary”) and entire article data was storing it the same document library.
Later we decided to split the document library based on journal.
To achieve better scalability, we have now changed the application architecture by creating site collection for each journal and keep article content (there are many articles in a journal) in corresponding site collections. We have added more content databases
and sites collections are equally distributed among these Dbs.
Now it is like (“http://<myweb:8080>/<journalID>/ ArtcleLibrary”)
    Actual Problem:
We have achieved scalability in the case of content management by splitting document libraries among different site collections and content databases.
But still the SP list for managing workflow is in the initial site collection (“http://<myweb>:8080/WorkflowTasks”). This single list contains now 60,000 items (=60,000 workflow instances) even if we deleted completed list items older than 3 months.
We have performance issues with the current workflow list. It is taking time (avg 20s) to create/read list item from the SP List. Sometimes items are not getting created in the list item.
From MSDN I came to know than there are recommended count for items in SPList (2000
     or 5000 items).
What is the best solution to solve the above performance issue with SharePoint list?
Whether the above mentioned our approach to document library will work for SP list also (means split current SP List and keep in each Journal site collection)?
    Please advise.

    Hi Andrew,
    Thanks for your post.
    I still have some doubts.
If we go like this, will OWSTIMER be able to handle workflows (custom workflow is attached to SP List) of these many site collections. We have now more than 600 site collections.

  • Issue with Fonts Corrupting in ID CS5

We've been using the Helvetica LT Std type family forever in our marketing materials. While it's not the greatest font family anymore, we still want to stay consistant. Recently upgraded our machines, and software (CS3 to CS5) and are now having issues with those fonts corrupting. Basically, they randomly throw "superscripts" and glyph type symbols throughout the document (see below). If I switch it out to a different font, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Has anyone ever come across this?
    Regards,
    David

    Mac OS X 10.6.4
I've uploaded all of my typefaces in Font Book. When I remove the Helvetica LT Std family from Font Book and then try opening the document again, it tells me that the fonts are missing. Meaning, it's not pulling a different font.
The weird thing is when I select the type change it to "Impact" the characters display correctly. When I change it to "Myriad" they are still corrupt. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reasonings to the why.
And thanks for the link, I've started reading through the key sections of that. WIth the fonts coming up missing when they are removed from Font Book, it doesn't appear to be that. So confused.

  • Issues with fonts

I am having an issue with a font not showing up in Photoshop. It comes up fine in Microsoft Word and other programs, but not in Photoshop. The font is called Bubbleboddy and it is a TrueType Font File.
    I am running Photoshop CS5 64-bit on a Windows 7 64-bit operating system.
    Thanks for any help.

Is the font a Freebie or a proper font.
How many do you have on the system?
Have you scrolled all the way down the list?
Do a search for and delete all instances of adobefnt*.lst (that extension is .LST).

  • IS there a way to fix the issue with text list boxes where they shift (empty space is smaller than the text size) when two text lsit boxes are side by side?

Currently I have a webpage I designed for a company where I have multiple text list boxes side by side for the purpose of displaying data in each one based on a category in the database. So a text list box for the primary key, name, serial number, etc. I have to use Firefox as it typically works best for printing and functionality for the page. The single issue we are having is that in Firefox if the field is null as far as text the text are shrinks meaning all the data in that list box shifts up and is no longer in line with its congruent data in the other text list boxes. In other browsers that's not a problem and everything stays lined up regardless of whether there's text in the box or not.
Unfortunately I cannot provide a link but if contacted I will provide screen shots.

Try posting at the Web Development / Standards Evangelism forum at MozillaZine. The helpers over there are more knowledgeable about web page development issues with Firefox. <br />

  • Issue with font files on japanese Windows 8 OS

We are currently facing an issue with the fonts on japanese Windows 8. While doing a normal compilation of a painter screen that is part of our application we are facing compilation issues on japanese version of Windows 8. The same operation goes perfectly

  • Issue with font dreamweaver cs4

    Hi,
i have a powerbook with tiger and dreamweaver 8, and also i have a mbp with leopard and dreamweaver cs4.
My issue is with font rendition .. i mean, i setup both system a software with the same parameters, code view in Dreamweaver with Monaco at 8pt, and in Look (System preferences) disable antialiasing for font smaller than 8pt. The issue is the with configuration the code appears in two different ways. With powerbook the view is fine, instead on mbp the font is like with antialising and it appears out of focus.. why does it happen?
The only different thing is the screen resolution 1440x960 against 1400x900..
Do you have any suggestion? Or code font to suggest..
    Many thanks

On the MBPro, open FontBook, select the font, then from the Menu Bar, click File/Validate Font and see if that helps.

  • Colour Management issue With Leopard and PS CS3

    Hi Everyone,
Since I have installed Leopard I am having colour management issues with Photoshop CS3 and my Canon i9950 printer.
My screen is calibrated with a Spyder and I used to ask Photoshop (in 10.4.11) to manage colour when printing and used the Spyder profile. Everything came out as I saw it on screen.
Now in leopard when I do the same thing everything comes out too yellow on the print. If I ask Photoshop to let the printer manage the colour it is too red. If I use the default colour management (photoshop managing the colour and it choosing the colour space it is better, but still too yellow).
Photoshop gives the hint to turn off colour management in the printer but there is no option for this and it also said the same thing before of course (when it worked in 10.4.11).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

You need to use the correct printer profile for the paper you're using. If the printer didn't come with any pre-built profiles, check Canon's web site to see if they have any profiles available for your printer that you can download.
Printer profiles are very specific. You can't take take a profile for glossy Epson paper and expect it to work very well for Canon glossy paper.

I'm having exactly the same problem, only my printer is a Canon Pixma iX4000. The colour is all bleached out, it looks exactly like when you've accidentally printed an RGB file on a CMYK printer, and at first I thought that was what I had done, but it isn't. This is very frustrating, I've spent all day going through the manuals, recalibrating etc, but no luck. This is a brand new Mac Pro and printer, but if its not going to print what I see on screen it's just expensive junk.
I wasn't sure if the problem was Leopard or the printer or CS3...

  • Issues with Simple Lists in service requests

We are using Service Manager 2012 and have run into a problem with simple lists within the service requests we created.  We believe the issues started after we upgraded to Service Manager SP1 and Silverlight 5.1.  What happens is you can select
one of the options in the simple list, but if you decide to change back to the original option, the system won't allow it.  In the case where there might be three options in the simple list (i.e. New, Change, Delete), you can select each one once, but
if we try to change it back to any of the other options the system won't allow it.  We tested all of this before going live and everything was working, but just before we went live SP1 came out and so we elected to upgrade to it first.  We then needed
to upgrade to Silverlight SP1 to work with Service Manager SP1.  We retested all of our service requests again just before going live, but didn't think we needed to go through every simple list so we didn't retest this.  Since then the simple lists
are problematic.  Has anyone else experienced this and if so is there a fix that will correct this issue?

    Yes!
We submitted a business impact statement back in February and after pushing them on a weekly basis, we finally received word that we will be receiving a hot fix next week.  Until we actually receive the hot fix and confirm that it works, I will wait
to post another update on this.
With that said, they came up with a temporary workaround about 2-3 weeks ago.  This is the message regarding the temporary fix that we received from the engineer that has been working on the issue:
After doing code review I identified the regression was introduced in the binaries that are included as part of this Silverlight XAP file:
RequestOfferingSilverlightModule.xap. As we discussed on the phone going back to the pre SP1 version means you will lose any enhancements/fixes that were introduced in SP1. Looking at the Change history for this module I only see two changes
that were introduced in SP1 and those changes are as follows:
The text field control only shows the first three lines.
Hierarchical support for List Items in Portal
To confirm my findings I replaced this XAP file with a pre SP1 version and I couldn’t repro the issue in my lab. I also confirmed implementing this module I lose the
above fixes that were introduced in Sp1.
To implement the workaround, please follow the below steps:
Connect to the Web Content Server,  locate the following directory:
    C:\inetpub\wwwroot\System Center Service Manager Portal\ContentHost\Clientbin
    Rename the following file RequestOfferingSilverlightModule.xap
    to RequestOfferingSilverlightModule.xap.org
Copy the attached file RequestOfferingSilverlightModule.xap to the folder:
    C:\inetpub\wwwroot\System Center Service Manager Portal\ContentHost\Clientbin
Restart IIS by issuing the following command at the command prompt:
    iisreset
Clear the client side cache and see if you can reproduce the issue.
Once confirmed the issue doesn’t reproduce, please proceed with testing all scenarios that make use of the Self Service Portal.
If you don't have the pre SP1 version of the file I'm sure you can get it from Microsoft.  We are not using hierarchical lists so the temporary fix is currently working for us without any issues.

  • I am experiencing an issue with font size on a calender... see below

Apple discovered an issue with the file you submitted. The font is
inconsistent in places, and we want to make sure your calendar turns
out just the way you designed it.  We’ve canceled your order— you won’t
be charged, and we have some suggestions for correcting the issue.
Please update iPhoto, change the theme of your calendar, then change it
    back to the original theme.
Once completed, confirm the issue has been resolved by previewing your
calendar in iPhoto. Then place the order again once you’re satisfied
with how the calendar appears in preview.
If the issue persists after changing the theme, please contact Apple
    Support for assistance. Just visit
<http://www.apple.com/support/iphoto/> and click “Get started” in the
upper-right hand corner of the page.
the fix is not working, I am using iPhoto 11, latest version, and trying to build a picture camera. Essentially the dates have gone really small. I can share a PDF.

See the More Like This section at the right.  One user explained how to edit a file in the application to fix the problem of date and day fonts reverting to 6 pt. if any font size was changed.

  • Issue with action 'Place' in CS3

I have been having an issue with an action I made. The action is:
    {Set Background
Set Layer Styles of current layer
    Image Size
    Canvas Size
    Place
    Move Current layer
    Save}
My issue is when it come to 'place' if the image is larger than the window it will center to the window not the canvas.
    The details of 'Place' are:
    filename.jgp
    Center: center
    Translate: 0 inches, 0 inches
I was wondering if there was anything in the action I should have added.
Also, could someone explain why it does this?

Thanks for the help. It worked, kinda...
It was already checked so I unchecked>applied. Tested it. It didn't properly scale the placed image
Went in checked it. Tested it. It worked like a charm.
Restarted PS with it still checked, tested the action and I had the orginal issue.
Checked my preferences and it was still checked.
    Unchecked>applied.
    Checked>applied -worked fine.
I'm assuming this is an error in the program that it is not properly reading the preferences. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

  • Adobe Acrobat Distiller Process. Issue with Font(L0420P not found, using courier)

    Hi Everybody,
We are working for upgrade activities, which involves moving applications from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003 Servers.
My applications uses Adobe Acrobat distiller, which is also getting upgraded along with the server from Adobe 4.0 to 5.0 (Installed licensed Adobe distiller).
I have been using Adobe distiller to convert .PS files into .PDF files. The conversion process requires the PSFonts such as (MB006, L0B, L0420P etc..), each font got a separate PFB and PFM extension files, which are kept in the folder name called "Psfonts" and has been included in "Font location" under Distiller settings.
Using Distiller( Adobe Acrobat distiller 4.0 ) in Windows 2000 didn't create any issues or error while converting .PS files into .PDF files, all the PDF files are generated by Distiller as expected and process without any Font issues.
In Windows Server 2003, I installed Adobe Acrobat distiller 5.0 and moved the Font Folder "Psfonts" from older server(Windows 2000 server) to the new server(Windows 2003) and started Adobe Acrobat distiller process(5.0) to convert .PS to .PDF, most of the .PS files gets converted into .PDF files but when .PS files which require the Font L0420P comes in for Distilling, it displays an error message as "L0420P not found, using courier".
I checked with the old Server's (Windows 2000) font folder (Psfonts), it has the same files(PFB and PFM) as present in the new Server(Windows 2003).
I tried to check the Particular Font name(L0420P) in Distiller-->Setting-->Job options-->Font-->Embedding-->Psfonts, but L0420P font alone is missing in the List.
Could you please help in resolving this Font issue.

You may like to try deleting the PsFonts entry from distiller and closing it. Restart the machine, make the entry of PSFonts agina and try creating PDF.

  • Issue with font of correct answers

As you can see below, the correct answer provided during question review is too large to fit within the box that is provided for it. I have scoured the user manual and forums to figure out which object this is in order to change its font, but I have yet to find a list of what the names of each object (quizzing and standard) actually represent, i.e. which one to change in the object style manager in order to fix the issue below. Help?

    Hi there,
Is it possible for you to share the published *.swf and the .Cptx file with us so that we can investigate the issue in our end. Please email the Files to: [email protected]  Also share the version  detailes of Captivate 5.5(ENG, or other Localized Version?) you are using and on which platform, Win/Mac?
