Issue with IMAP accounts - cannot delete

I am running the latest OS on iPhone 4.
I recently had some issues with my email accounts and had to delete them all from my iPhone, then recreate them. I thought they were originally set up as POP emails, but as I could see all my online folders, I gather they were IMAP.
I did recreate them all as IMAP accounts, but was experiencing deleting emails whilst off-line, which I could previously do. I am also now experiencing an issue with my main account where every time I try to delete an email, even when online, I get the following message:
Unable to Move Message
The message could not be moved to the mailbox Trash.
I went into the Advanced settings in my account and changed the deleted mailbox to 'On My iPhone', or to the trash folder online, but this hasn't made any difference. I can however move emails into folders, although moving emails to the trash instead of deleting them is a bit of a long winded process. I just can't work out why, before all this, I could delete emails with no problem even when I had no internet connection, and why I can't now.
Would anyone be able to help? Thank you in advance for any help you could provide.

    Hi everybody.
    I have a Linux Mail Server with "dovecot" POP/POPS/IMAP/IMAPS server.
    I tried to configure a new mail account on my iPad, on that server.
    I configured for IMAP on port 993, with SSL support, correct username and password, correct incoming/outgoing servers etc.
    Everything works fine with other mail clients.
    When I try to get mail with the iPad (configured as above) I get this message from the dovecot server:
    Jul 23 15:26:13 ubuntu-joomla dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts): rip=94.161.83.80, lip=192.168.254.66, TLS
    I also tried this proposed solution (for the iPhone) I found in another thread:

    Is it a known problem? Is it a "custom" auth behaviour of the iPad IMAP client? Maybe a certain configuration parameter on the dovecot server could solve the problem? Is there anybody having the same problem?

    actually works perfectly!!!
    I made a mistake implementing the procedure. Shame on me.
    So: iPad's IMAP mail client works perfectly with the dovecot server.
    I still have problem with the outgoing mail, though.
    I am using postfix on ubuntu.
    Tried port 25, port 587, SSL support or not, but so far... nothing.
    Is there somebody using the same configuration?

    You made a purchase and exhausted the credit on your card before it processed. All purchases are final. Contact iTunes Store support. You need to settle up before you can purchase or download anything else.

    I have applied all the necessary patches.
    I'll just elaborate the problem i faced..
    First, We migrated from one instance to the other and at that time the account type defaulted to "EXPENSE" type and to solve that issue, we ran a custom script to update the code_combinations table.
    Then, it looked fine...but wherever the flexfield was used,it was showing the following error.
    "APP-FND-00822: Program error: Invalid arguments to the flexfield routines. Please inform your support representative that:
    Routine FDFGVP was unable to find the segment qualifier. The flexfield user exits #FND LOADID, #FND POPID, or #FND VALID have been called incorrectly.
    Make sure the segment qualifiers specified match those defined in the Define Qualifiers form. (ATTYPE=DETAIL_POSTING_ALLOWED)"
    I tried various metalink notes, but not able to solve the error.
    Is this because of the custom script what I ran?????????
    As i'm not able to solve the error, I created a dummy flexfield for testing purpose and migrated that again.
    But, it had the error of account type being "Y".....(what i posted in this thread first)
    And also the hierarchy of the account field qualifiers is changed.
    (Account Type,Third Party Control Account,Reconcile,Allow Budgeting,Allow Posting)
    But, in the source it is like,
    (Allow Budgeting,Allow Posting,Account Type, Third Party Control Account,Reconcile)
    The backend table code_combinations is also having the same "Y" account type.
    Dont know where the problem is.....

  • Mail.app and purging of moved messages with IMAP accounts?

    I REALLY want to like Mail.app but one item that has caused frustration for years is the handling (or lack) of handling of my messages once moved to another folder with IMAP accounts. I would like for Mail.app to purge/expunge the messages from the server automatically when the message is moved but it doesn't seem to complete that transaction until you actually quit out of mail.
    I use multiple computers and I don't remember to quit out of Mail.app going from one of my Macs to another and don't want to but I'm getting tired of having to file the messages twice (or more). Is there a way to set Mail.app to do the automatic instant purging (or expunging) of the messages from the originating folders without having to quit out of the application? This seems to be the default behavior for nearly every other mail client I've used, including Entourage and is an option in Outlook and Outlook Express (PC).

    same is true with popmail, not just imap.
    moreover, i think hitting "remove now" just puts content in your server's trash folder, meaning it's still taking up disk quota and you'll never know till you stop getting mail...

    This is how IMAP works, if you delete from one device it will also be deleted in the other devices.
    iCloud do not backup e-mails.

    I installed Lion on my MacBook Pro, my iMac and on my girlfriend's MacBook Pro and I have the same problems on each computer! Help please!
    I try to delete an event on iCal and it always comes back!! I cannot delete it and I cannot delete an entire calendar too! It disappears and 10 seconds later, it's back!
    I also removed an icon from the Dock but when I restart the computer, it is back in the dock!
    I have also some issues with the file sharing between my Macs. Usually, I entered the username and password of the Mac and it was possible to access everything from another Mac. But now it doesn't work! I think that I must create a new user account for file sharing...
    What should I do??

    I have the same issues with items "re-appearing" in the dock after reboot or waking from sleep. I went into recovery mode, wiped my hard drive, and cleanly reinstalled lion to no avail. I had other issues that cleared up, but my dock is full of apps I never use...so I can only conclude its a bug.

    I am working in Interaction center:
    Current Scenario: If an Agent interacts with more than one account on the same call, the service request is always attached to the first account interacted with. This issue seems to be because the Agent cannot press the 'End' button to close the first account interacted with as this would cut the customer off.
    This issue occurs if during a call a CSR interacts with an account, realizes it is not the correct account, presses the red X cancel button (because they cannot use End), locates the correct account and makes the requested changes in the correct account. When the Service Request is created, it will attach to the first account which is not the account the changes were made in.
    Requirement: Now requirement is to attach Service request to second account / Or the when user lock the second account then first account should be deleted/cleared so that it could not find the first account.
    can anyone please suggest where should I write the code and how can I read the first account to delete it. OR how can I attach the SR in the second a/c.?

    This is the first a/c-1000008531 I taken. Now I cancelled this a/c by clicking on red(X) Icon.
    Again locking the second a/c - 1000008532 without pressing END button
    Now when I go to create Service request then it consider the First a/c - 1000008531
    here I am not pressing SAVE button so once Service Request is clicked from below option after confirming the second a/c then it should consider the second a/c only.
    Please let us know where should I write the code to overwrite the second a/c.?

  • No incoming mail on ipad with IMAP account

    I have not been able to receive incoming mail from an IMAP account hosted by Network Solutions, and I'm not sure if the problem is on the client or server side. I am also not able to delete messages from the inbox. (I get a message saying "Unable to move message: The message could not be moved to the mailbox Trash."
    I am sending and receiving emails from this account on both my iPhone and macbook without any problem. The iPad account is set-up exactly the same on the iPad as it is on the phone and macbook. The inbound port is set to 993, which is what it is automatically set to in the others even though NS says to set to 143.
    I have tried deleting the account and reinstalling many times with no success. I also tried resetting the ipad to factory settings. This worked briefly and everything worked fine for a couple of test emails, and then I was back at square one.
    There are a couple of things I've noticed. All my mail is in the inbox up until 9/5/13, after that there is nothing. If I search for a specific email and opt to continue the search on the server, the email is found and put in my mailbox (it is not there after deleting and reinstalling the account.) Also, I notice at the bottom of the folder bar where it tells you progress, last updated, etc. that when I am checking for mail, the status shows the downloading progress bar and the approximate number of emails I'm missing very briefly.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

    I have an IMAP account on our server that has a few people accessing it. It is having some problems, but the weirdest one (the one that I think might be causing the other problems) is that there is an email from several months ago that won't go away. If they delete it, it comes back the next time they get mail and kicks out an error that it cannot be deleted. I think there is something corrupt with that message and it is causing problems. Is there a way to delete it on the server?

    Try and use mailbfr to reconstruct the affected user's mailbox first:
    sudo mailbfr -m username
