Issue with installing itunes on a Windows 7 OS

I'm getting this message when trying to install itunes on to my Windows 7 pc:
"This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the packages exist and that you can open it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows installation package"
Any assistance would be appreciative

just for fun, try VirtualBox 4.x for your CentOS and see if it works.
I don't know VM Player enough - would have to check on VMware for FAQ support articles

  • Issue with installing password sync on Windows 2008

I have installed pwd sync 64 bit on Windows 2008. Configured it in direct mode (no jms). But when I change the password of a user it is not syncing with the IdM. We have the 32 bit pwd sync working fine on Win 2003. Is there any special steps for installing, configuring 64 bit pwd sync on Win 2008. Thanks. Jack

    Hi again Tim-
Given the error "failed to crack URL" I believe you're hitting an issue we have documented as bug # 21999. Here's the jist of it and a possible way around it.
    ==========
When installing password sync on a Windows 2008 system, if you are not
logged in as 'Administrator', the installer and the configure applications
may be subject to Windows File And Registry Virtualization (FARV). This may
cause the registry entries for password sync to be written to the user portion
of the registry, rather than the system portion. Subsequently, password sync
will fail with the message "failed to crack URL".
To work around FARV, either run the MSI installer from a privileged cmd.exe
prompt, or run the configure.exe application using the "Run As Administrator"
functionality (right-click on the configure.exe application, select "Run As
    Administrator").
    ==========
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Alex

  • Issues with installing iTunes

Ok, I have Windows XP SP2 and I just got a 5G 60gb iPod and I've successfully uploaded songs to it through my brother's PC since he has iTunes and a 5G iPod as well.
So I tried to install MY iTunes on MY PC and it does the supposedly common error of completely exiting just at the end of installation with no error message. I have tried the suggested solutions from the support pages on this Web site, but it's still not working!
    HELP please =)
Pentium 4 1.3 Ghz   Windows XP

I think i am sharing the same problem. I can use my brothers computer/itunes, but not my own. Can you watch your program files folder when you run the install? during my install, the folder Itunes is created. at the end of the install, the folder gets deleted and no error messages are shown. My computer is running a fresh install of windows xp sp2 with nothing else installed, except windows updates and motherboard drivers.
where did you see solutions in the support page when no error messages are shown?

  • Can't install iTunes update on Windows XP 5.1

    Hello
Hope someone can help. I downloaded the installation manager for the new iTunes update but when I go to intall it I get a message that says:
    Internet Connection Error
We're unable to connect to the download server. It seems that your internet connection is down or firewalled.
Please check your Internet and Proxy settings and then click the "Try Again" button below.
It's clearly a firewall issue - a couple of other programs I want to install also hit the buffers as soon as they try to connect to the internet. I've turned my Windows Firewall off and rebooted and still nothing. Any suggestions anyone? I'm using Windows XP 5.1 by the way.

    HI,
If your old version of iTunes is still working - then I sugest you stick with that.
iTunes 11 is a lousy update - It will not retain your playlists, you can't find and delete duplicates... and a whole arry of oyher issues. (have a look around this forum to see how many issues IT11 gives people)
Just a friendly advise and warning :-)

  • I am having problems with installing Itunes 10.5 .With the windows installer

I am having problems with installing Itunes 10.5.It's the first time i dowload it,but every time het gives me an error message that a programm that was needed for installing didn't run.
    What can i do???

When I attempt the download for Itunes 10.6, I get an immediate response of ""Files shared by these updates" has an invalid signature. The download has been removed."
That's suggesting that the AppleApplicationSupport.msi is getting damaged during the download via Apple Software Update for Windows.
Are you able to get the 10.6  update to go through if you use an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file from the Apple Website?

  • Unable to install iTunes on my Windows 8 PC

I am trying to install iTunes (64 bit) on Windows 8 PC. In the middle of the installation, it throws up an error message like this
I click ok, and proceed. It says, "Rolling back action". It then proceeds with the installation. When the status says - Starting Services, it again throws up a message like this:
Retry keeps taking me back to this same screen again.
If I click on Abort, it restarts the installation again, and I land up at this same page again.
If I click on ignore, it shows iTunes successfully installed, but when I open, it throws these 2 error messages
Can anyone help me in troubleshooting this issue?
Any pointers in what could the issue be, would be of immense help.
FYI, I am running the installer as an administrator.
    Regards,
    Narayan

Hi Matt, and thanks Narayan for the question.
I am running Windows 8 on my Macbook Pro (2012) via Parallels 8. After quite a bit of patience tested with patches and updates, everything worked fine. But as with Windows, after an update, there will be problems with programs. Running Parallels is very cool, but the downside and truth is that every now and then you will find that the Windows 8 virtual machine does not work as it would on a conventional PC. My iTunes (v11+) worked fine until it detected a potential conflict with another CD/DVD app I installed (either VLC or PowerDVD) and everytime I launched it, an alert would indicate that the Registry for iTunes has a problem as a result and that I should reinstall iTunes. I hesitated doing that because for the most part, my iTunes worked fine (synchs my iPhone 5 on Windows), while my Mac iTunes synchs my iPod Classic 160GB. Now, I have tried three times to down and install iTunes in my Windows 8 virtual machine but three alert window pop-ups appear, and all result in a failed installation. This means, I will not be able to synch my iPhone 5 to my Outlook for the time being and poses a real serious problem in my day to day lifestyle.
First window alert after trying to open installation package:
Because I had cleared my cache with the earlier version of iTunes installed, using Browse, I could not locate those files. So clicking OK, leads to:
Then after clicking OK to clear this message, it leads to:
I am not an engineer and can't tell what the software implication is for these messages. I suppose, it is a Windows and not a iTunes problem, and I may have to take this problem to a Windows Support community. But I just thought to post it here in case, someone has a solution and might just share it still.
Now, I am going to try and remove my VLC program and try re-installing iTunes. But the way I understand the last two window messages, there seems to be a problem with the software trying to connect with Apple while the installation is taking place ("network resource") although my Internet access is definitely working at the time.
Any ideas? Unless this is another Parallels 8 issue, and neither Windows 8 or iTunes!
    Tom
