Issue with KDE power management plugin and battery monitor widget

Hi everyone, I'm having troubles with the battery monitor widget on KDE: since I have installed the DM I get an error message during the startup saying that "no valid power management backend plugin is available", so I can't get my battery monitor working. Does anyone know how could I do to have this problem solved?

    I noticed today that the Action Center says "Compatibility issue with your power management system." The description underneath is: Your power management system isn't working peoperly because a compatible driver is not available for this version of Windows. When I click on View message details it just says "Your computer was unable to download the solution at this time. Check to make sure your computer is connected to the Internet, and then try to download the solution again later." All power related functionalities however seem to be working. Battery is charging; battery percentage is showing; I can adjust screen brightness. I am not sure when exactly this problem started but it defenitely was not there before. Tried downloading and fixing the Power Management Software and updating BIOS. Still have the same message. System: Windows 8.1 64-bit

  • Question about Starting Eclipse with PVCS Version Manager Plugin and Flash Builder 4 plugin

    I used Eclipse 3.4.2 SR2 with PVCS Version Manager plugin.
    I installed Adobe Flash Builder 4 Plugin to the Eclipse.
    Eclipse executed successfully at first time.
    After I open *.mxml file with the Eclipse and close.
    After minutes, I execute Eclipse.
    But I waited 40 minutes to see Eclipse Editor screen.
    Are there any problem in Adobe Flash Builder 4 Plugin?

    I experimented with the latest Zend Studio 8 trials on both platforms yesterday, and it looks a little different depending on which platform you're using:
    On OS X, because Zend Studio is now contained entirely within the app bundle, it's tricky navigating to the proper eclipse folder with our Plug-in Utility. As it turns out, the Zend dropins folder does exist if you look down low enough:
    /Applications/Zend Studio.app/Contents/Resources/Java/dropins
    When I typed that path into the Burrito Plug-in Utility manually, it found the dropins folder, and proceeded to install the link without complaint. However, the Zend dropins folder is not working properly on OS X either, as already found on Win, so it's not using the link.
    On Win, Zend Studio 8 doesn't include the dropins folder in the first place, as noted earlier. Apparently, Zend doesn't have its dropins folder enabled on either Mac or Win.
    To see if this problem is specific to dropin links, I downloaded the latest Orbit plugins from eclipse.org and tried adding those directly to the Zend dropins folder, instead of using a link. Zend doesn’t appear to recognize them either.
    I'll check with our contact at Zend to see what happened.

  • Software Issue with New Power Management Update

    In this post I'll be talking about the Power Management update for Windows 8.1 Pro, version 1.67.09.00, released on 10/15/2014.
    I installed this via System Update yesterday and, when shutting down my computer before going to classes that day, I noticed something odd. Even after Windows shut down, the display went black, and the hard disk indicator light (yes, please bring those indicator lights back to the Thinkpad line!) stopped flashing, the power indicator was still on. From there I deduced the system was still on in a "limbo" state. In fact, the keyboard light was still functional, and so was the mute button! I was right.
    Later that day, I let my computer sit through this "limbo" state, and a horrible apparition, the Blue Screen of Death, appeared! It stated that there was a "Power Driver State Failure" and immediately proceeded to shut down my computer. I rebooted, used System Restore to undo the installation, and the issue was fixed.
    In short, don't install this update if you have Windows 8.1 Pro and a Thinkpad X230 Tablet. It didn't work well for me. Lenovo, please double and triple check your update before an eager geek like myself proceeds to install it.

  • Registry issue with Lenovo Power Manager with X61

    I have the following problem.
    Hi guys,
    Lenovo power manager v1,6 quit working properly lately so I googled for a solution which involved removing power schemes which had reproduced in the registry to cause an overload to the application.
    Anyway because this wasnt really working (I ended up with having powerschemes but wasnt allowed to change them) I in my brightest moments decieded to delete the messed up part of my registry [HKEY_CURREN_USER --> Control panel --> PoweCfg] because it was preventing my reinstalations of said program from functioning properly since they resorted to the previosly present registryentrys.
    Well it appears that when installing the powermanager it does not write these new registry entrys and Im stuck now without a way to get them back. I wonder at what point that registry entry is written in the first place, does anyone feel like exporting said part of their healthy registry...please...?

    ..this one is from an x200 with Server2003...seems like you're familiar enough with registry exports and wrapping and shoiuld be able to convert this into a *.reg form:

  • Broke the KDE power manager

    So it looks like I broke the KDE power manager plasmoid. It used to work perfectly (except setting screen brightness, which I fixed with 'acpi_backlight=vendor' in my grub kernel line) but I seem to have done something that prevents it from detecting when the power adapter is connected. It knows at some level, because it will calculate an estimated time remaining, but it will still say plugged in and it won't switch profiles. But what's really confusing me is this: if I run the following command, it will figure it out...but all I'm doing is READING:
    cat /sys/class/power_supply/AC/online
    Obviously the easy solution would be to figure out what the heck I did to break it in the first place, but I've been trying to figure that out and getting nowhere. Just got this laptop, so I've been making a ton of changes. Tried reversing everything I could think of that may be related, but didn't have much luck.

    Shark wrote:I think it is upstream bug.
    Kde developers do not consider this a bug. There has been a long discussion which started in 2009 (http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/plasma-de … 05693.html) about the remaining time feature in the battery applet, where they decided to not show it and only allow the user who really want the feature to activate it editing the relevant config file.

  • Help with creating a management plugin in OEM.

    Hi Everyone ,
    I was trying to create a management plugin - which would monitor a WLS instance.
    So we created a plugin using the emjmxcli tool , and it worked fine.
    Background info :
    WLS side - managed server running - has 2 channels HTTP/ HTTPS - and 2 virtual hosts created : one for each channel. Applications are deployed into this virtual hosts.
    EM side - after creating a target of the particular type (from management plugin) , drilling down into the metrics gives different attributes
    eg : "com.bea:Name=Default[http],ServerRuntime=ManagedServer_1,Type=ServerChannelRuntime" ------ where ServerChannelRuntime = mbean i am monitoring.
    Among these , there are 2 attributes , one for each Channel which i specified earlier.
    Now the issue is - I need to modify the plugin target/collection xmls so to SUM up these 2 attributes (HTTP and HTTPS) , and filter out all other attributes which are shown. It takes up unnecessary space in db as well.
    So i tried - adding an <executiondescriptor> -
    <ExecutionDescriptor>
    <GetTable NAME="Metric" USE_CACHE="TRUE_IF_COLLECT"/>
        <GetView NAME="ChannelHTTP" FROM_TABLE="Metric">
            <Filter COLUMN_NAME="ObjectName" OPERATOR="EQ">com.bea:Name=Channel_HTTP_1,ServerRuntime=ManagedServer_1,Type=ServerChannelRuntime</Filter>
        </GetView>
       <GetView NAME="ChannelHTTPS" FROM_TABLE="Metric">
            <Filter COLUMN_NAME="ObjectName" OPERATOR="EQ">com.bea:Name=Channel_HTTPS_1,ServerRuntime=ManagedServer_1,Type=ServerChannelRuntime</Filter>
        </GetView>
       <JoinTables NAME="BothChannels" >
            <Table NAME="ChannelHTTP"/>
            <Table NAME="ChannelHTTPS"/>
        </JoinTables>
        <GroupBy NAME="result" FROM_TABLE="BothChannels">
            <AggregateColumn  NAME="NumberOfReq" COLUMN_NAME = "NumberOfReq" OPERATOR="SUM" />
         </GroupBy>
    </ExecutionDescriptor>But this didnt help. So if any one could help out with this , it would be great.
    I need to -
    1. Sum up 2 attributes.
    2. Filter out other attributes which appear automatically from the mbean.
    Thanks

    That is alright oss288, try uninstalling the program completely again. Download the power manager utility and driver to the desktop, install in that order, and reboot. Good Luck, and keep me posted on your results. Thanks oss288!

  • [SOLVED] Lid doesn't suspend anymore with xfce power manager

    The options "When laptop lid is closed" are set to suspend (and used to work), but still, when I close my lid, nothing happens. Using the logout dialog or the suspend button my keyboard works. Is it a problem with xfce-power-manager, or ACPI not registering the lid event anymore? Any idea how to fix that?
    [edit]
    I solved that problem by removing ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-power-manager.xml, killing the power manager and reloging in my session to flush the settings. Then I reconfigured the lid closed action to suspend (and everything else to my liking).

    Sorry to bother you again, but for some reason it doesn't work anymore...
    Somehow it can't lock the GNOME session, because when I enter the above line from /etc/acpi/handler.sh manually as root in TTY1, I get this error:
    ** Message: Failed to get session bus: Befehlszeile »dbus-launch --autolaunch=c9375f4ea0008d92177b28db000009ae --binary-syntax --close-stderr« brach mit von Null verschiedenem Beenden-Status 1 ab: No protocol specified\nAutolaunch error: X11 initialization failed.\n
    If I enter this command inside GNOME, everything works just fine, it locks the screen and suspends.
    EDIT:
    Setting the XAUTHORITY environment variable properly did the trick. Therefore, I borrowed some lines from here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Su … losing_lid

  • "Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility."  Trying to format my iomega external HD for use with Mac

    Hi. Trying to connect iomega ext. HD. i have to reformat for Mac. When i plug in & go to Disk Utility,the external shows up and i'm supposed to click "partition". When i do, a box comes up saying ""Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility." I quit and relaunched, same results. After googling my question, i came up with this:
    "Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility."
    (Quitting and reopening Disk Utility does not help.)
    The following also appears in Console log:
    *** malloc[419]: Deallocation of a pointer not malloced: 0x290a410; This could be a double free(), or free() called with the middle of an allocated block; Try setting environment variable MallocHelp to see tools to help debug : for architecture i386 object: ./Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes malformed object (unknown flavor for flavor number 0 in LC_UNIXTHREAD command 27 can't byte swap it)
    Workaround
    Quit Disk Utility.
    From the Finder's Go menu, choose Go to Folder....
    Type the following, then click OK: /Library/Receipts
    Temporarily remove these iTunes receipts from /Library/Receipts (sort the folder alphabetically as a list):
    iTunes.pkg
    iTunes4.pkg
    You can put them on the desktop, for example. Do not remove iTunesX.pkg or iTunes Phone Driver.pkg.
    Open Disk Utility and repair disk permissions again.
    Quit Disk Utility.
    Put the removed iTunes receipts back in /Library/Receipts.
    Note: This issue does not affect Disk Utility's verify or repair disk features.
    All seemed good, for a moment, until, upon going back to Disk Utility after removing itunes4.pkg and putting on desktop (i did not have itunes.pkg to remove) the same thing was happening. When i highlite my iomega ext. on left of page, disk perrmissions is grayed and does not allow me to click on it. Same problem from the start. Can somebody please help me out here? That would soooo awesome. Thanx!

    i'm just scared i will do something wrong on my own and lose my data.
    You shouldn't be scared of that, because you should already have backups. If you don't have backups, then backing up is the first priority.
    Insert the Snow Leopard DVD and restart. When you hear the chime, hold down the C key and keep holding it until the Apple logo appears on the display. You should now see the language selection screen. Select your language, then choose Utilities > Disk Utility from the menu bar. In the Disk Utility window, select the external drive (not the internal). The drive may already have a data partition, in which case there will be another icon below the drive icon. Choose the drive icon, then select the Partition tab. Create a single partition with the default options (GUID partition table, Mac OS X Extended Journaled).
    When the partitioning is done, select the startup volume on your internal drive in the DU window. Select the Restore tab. Drag the icon of the startup volume to the "Source" field. Then drag the icon of the newly-created volume on the external drive to the "Destination" field. Make sure you have this right. Then click the Restore button, and the data on your startup volume will be copied to the external drive.
