Issue with MS Excel 2010

I am using MS Excel 2010 and i have a template which i am using for my project.
There are fields in the template in one column and in the other column, the user has to feed data for the requested fields. Now the requested fields have explanation for the data requested in the form a box which pops up when you click on the cell to provide
your answer. It's not a comment though.
Now i have changed certain fields and replaced them with new requested field. 
Can anyone tell me how i change the description  in the other column where the user will input his data according to the new requested data, since the description is  still showing  for the old field.
The Description of the Field comes up in the form of an answer box below  the cell where the user has to input his answer and i am not able to change it. It's not a comment though.

I suspect it is Data Validation with an Input Message.
Select a cell.
On the Data tab of the ribbon, click Data Validation.
Leave the Settings tab of the dialog unchanged, and activate the Input Message tab.

  • I had Acrobat XI Pro Trial installed on W8.1, and I had to uninstall it because issues with MS Office 2010. Now I try to reinstall Acrobat and It does not allow me to use the trial version anymore even it was not over. What to do??

    Well, I had installed in my new computer a trial version from Acrobat XI Pro, but I had issues with Microsoft Word 2010, since it did not allow me to save changes on my file. I uninstalled it from my computer before the trial period was over, and then, after I solved the issue with Office, I wanted to get it back for a time, but the installer does not allow me to choose Trial Version. I can reach that screen where you choose between key and trial, but once I press trial and click on next, it does absolutely nothing at all.
    I have tried to manually delete folders, and I even used CC Clean to make a registry set up, but nothing out of that is working for me at all, and it keeps happening. I have no really idea what to do, and I kinda need to use Acrobat immediately for a file.

    The trial can only be loaded 1 time as far as I know. You could try http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, remove any left over parts of the Acrobat folder, and reboot. Then try an install again, but my guess is you will have to purchase Acrobat at this point.

  • New to Mac - Issues with imported Excel Docs

    Imported my Excel docs from my PC and they made the trip but when I open them, some don't work properly. I have some billing statements that I made with Excel templates. Whenever I open and try to save them, I get an error message:
    Users/JaneDoe/Documents/Private Practice/Billing Statements/Jones 2 16 05 MAC.numbers
    I'm having some issues with Word documents that have tables in them also.
    I love my new MAC but have many business forms that I need to use. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks for your answer, I suspected as much. I've been thinking about this and have decided that since those are historical files and not working files, I'll just leave them alone and create new billing statements using Mac. It's certainly easy enough to do.
    The Word documents, though, are a different story. I've scanned pages out of some manuals and many of the pages are questionnaires with tables to indicate answers. Some documents are multiple pages and every other page I view is blank. It's difficult and sometimes impossible to delete the blank page or move the table up. If I can't salvage these, I'll have to go back into the manuals and scan the pages all over again.
    And I don't want to partition my hard drive, run Windows parallel or invest in Office for Mac because that all defeats the purpose of my transition to a Mac in the first place - ease of use.

  • Calendar Issues with ActiveSync Exchange 2010 14.1.438 to iPhone IOS 6.1.4

    The iPhone is missing some new calendar meetings and appointments. It is so random, some of them are meeting request I accepted and some of them are appointment I made on Outlook 2010. I see them on Outlook 2010 and OWA. If I delete the meeting or
    appointment from Outlook and then put it back; it shows up on my iPhone. It also sync if I delete the syncing of the calendar to the iPhone and put then add it back on.

    It seems that the link for this kb is not available. So the real issue is that which kind of issue you get, and then check whether this issue has been resolved by the latest VS version. Like the above report, maybe the new VS version would be better for

  • Can't Install Xcelsius 2008 with Office/Excel 2010 Beta on XP

    I am running the latest beta version of Office 2010 and when I try to install Xcelsius 2008 i get an error and it aborts the install. Error says:
    Office XP application: Excel, Word, Outlook or Powerpoint must be pre-installed.  Higher versions work fine.
    Am I missing something on why this wouldnt work?

  • Issue with SharePoint foundation 2010 to use Claims Based Auth with Certificate authentication method with ADFS 2.0

    I would love some help with this issue.  I have configured my SharePoint foundation 2010 site to use Claims Based Auth with Certificate authentication method with ADFS 2.0  I have a test account set up with lab.acme.com to use the ACS.
    When I log into my site using Windows Auth, everything is great.  However when I log in and select my ACS token issuer, I get sent, to the logon page of the ADFS, after selected the ADFS method. My browser prompt me which Certificate identity I want
    to use to log in   and after 3-5 second
     and return me the logon page with error message “Authentication failed”

  • Display Issues with mini (Mid 2010) and LG L246WP

    I recently purchased a new mini (Mid 2010 base model) and planned to use it with my 24" LG L246WP monitor, which is about 3 years old. The monitor has VGA, component, and HDMI inputs.
    I used an HDMI-to-HDMI cable to connect the mini directly to the monitor, and the output is completely messed up. The mini recognized the monitor (titling the System Preferences > Display dialog with 'L246WP') and set it to the monitor's native resolution of 1920x1200, but on the monitor the image is cropped to what looks like a 4:3 aspect ratio and with part of the image shifted up and left so I cannot view the top menu bar or the left hand side of the desktop. The monitor's on-screen display shows 1080p in this mode.
    The Display dialog also gives me an option for 1080p. I can select this and use the Underscan slider to resize the desktop output to fit on the screen, but it is still shifted left and must be resized smaller than the available display space (plus the total image is only 1080 pixels, not using the monitor's full native screen). In this mode, 1080p also shows on the monitor's on-screen display.
    I tried 1024x768 to see if I could get a properly-positioned image, but the desktop was shifted just like in the 1920x1200 case and the monitor's on-screen display status still reported 1080p.
    The monitor has a menu setting under an HDMI heading with "Video" and "PC" options, but changing this selection does not make a difference.
    Since the monitor came out before HDMI was as widespread as it is today, it came with a DVI-to-HDMI cable, so I also tried using that cable with the HDMI-to-DVI adapter that came with the mini, but this did not make a difference either.
    To prove it wasn't the HDMI cable, I connected the mini to my Samsung 6300 series 40" LED HDTV and with some tweaking of the Underscan slider the displayed image filled the screen perfectly.
    I've searched the Internet and various forum threads (i.e. http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1167222&page=63) seem to indicate this monitor can send a corrupted EDID that causes issues, especially with nVidia graphics drivers. On Windows you can use registry or driver hacks to override the EDID with the correct values, but on OS X this doesn't seem possible (I was hoping for a Terminal one-liner but it seems this doesn't exist). I have seen some mentions of the shareware SwitchResX (http://www.madrau.com), which looks like it gives you the option to override resolution settings, but I haven't tried this yet.
    It also appears to me that the monitor is always interpreting the signal (or the mini is always sending the signal) as 1080p, even if I've set 1920x1200 in the Display dialog. I don't know if this is a defect in the monitor where it always assumes the HDMI input is a 1080p source (previous I used it with an Xbox 360 with no issues but that was 1080p HDMI), or if is a bug in the graphics drivers (or at least a lack of flexibility / miscommunication to the user trying to handle a corrupt EDID).
    I asked my local Genius Bar for advice today (without bringing any hardware in) but was not told anything I didn't already know.
    I'm trying to determine the best way to work through this issue. *My questions are:*
    Would it make any difference if I used a Mini DisplayPort-to-DVI adapter (and then my DVI-to-HDMI cable to the monitor's HDMI input)?
    What about a Mini DisplayPort-to-VGA adapter? In the past I used a 12" Powerbook (via a mini-DVI-to-VGA adapter) with this monitor and had no display issues like this, but I'd prefer to stick with a digital connection on my brand new mini.
    Is SwitchResX the only practical way in OS X to override a corrupt EDID and force the mini to output a certain resolution?
    Besides the various adapters and SwitchResX, is there anything else I should try before buying a new monitor?

    I have been experiencing the same issues you described. Connecting my brand new Mac Mini to my Westinghouse 24”monitor (L2410NM,  1920x1200 pixel resolution) produces a very fuzzy and washed out image quality. The Mac recognizes the monitor and applies the right resolution (1920x1200), but it looks just awful. The EDID info is definitely not right.
    Now, I tried your suggestion (DVI-to-HDMI), and similar suggestions from other threads, but nothing works. Nothing seems to work at all.
    The main input for the monitor is HDMI, so whatever cable I use, in the end always has to connect to the monitor via HDMI. I tried all these combinations with zero success:
    Mac mini -> HDMI cable -> monitor (result: fuzzy and blurry image)
    Mac mini -> displayport –HDMI adapter-> HDMI cable -> monitor (result: fuzzy and blurry image)
    Mac mini  -> displayport –DVI adapter-> DVI-to-HDMI cable -> monitor (result: it gives me a blank screen, no image at all)
    I’m running out of options. Don’t know what to do. The 24” monitor produces beautiful, crisp images when hooked to my Windows 7 PC. It looks horrible when connected to my brand new Mac Mini.
    Any alternatives you may have come across? Please let me know, thank you.

  • Issue with HAL - Excel Adapter

    We are using HAL V7. and excel 2007 . I am truing to use excel adapter in HAL . Here I guess the adapter is not supporting excel 2007. So I am getting the below error when I pull the excel adapter.
    Update the Vegneete BIS Installation registry by addign the current class id or excel sheet as the ExcelCLSID value of the key. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Vignette\eIntegrate\4.2\Workarounds.
    I am littlie confused overhere. I went to the particular location .,do I need to change the ExcelCLSID key?? if so with what key I need to replace... where I can I find the classid for excel 2007.

    I find it incredibly amusing that they have a registry key labelled "Workarounds". If that isn't the sign of a lame-o product, I don't know what is.
    But you didn't ask to hear me rant and rave about HAL -- you want help.
    I never, in my many somewhat painful interactions with HAL, used the Excel adaptor. Is it trying to instantiate Excel itself, or just read from/write to a file? Many products don't need an instance of Excel to do Excel file operations (think of Dodeca, or OpenOffice), although perhaps HAL is not one of them.
    If you tried to make the file a .xls, does it work? Or could you make the file a .txt or .csv and just avoid the whole Excel issue altogether?

  • Issues with migrated SHarePoint 2010 sites after Mount-SPContentDatabase command and claims powershell upodate

    I am getting issues when trying to access these new SharePoint 2010 Mode Web Applications I have migrated to SharePoint 2013. A record pointing to WFE Cluster OK. Problem is sometimes I get a blank page, sometimes I get prompted with a password, sometimes
    I get the site, but style is poor and sometimes I get a page that looks fine (it always takes a long time - there are ping issues). I have had a quick look around and noticed that this can be the Request Management Service. I have it running on all 3 WFE along
    with Distributed Cache. This is really worrying and it is having a big impact on me progressing.
    Any ideas. Reluctant to run some powershell commands some people have recommended as they could cock things right up.

    Hi John,
    if you have load balancer you can stop Request Management.
    But my advice that you need to check the ULS logs, try to set the diagnostic logging to verbose and catch the errors in the logs and send them.

  • Smartview Issue with MS Office 2010 on windows 7

    Hi,
    I have installed Hyperion Smartview 11.1.1.1 on windows 7(64 bit AMD Processor), After the installation i tried to go with Datasource manager but nothing it shows there in Right side panel("smartview data source manager").
    Each option is in Disable mode(like Adhoc Analysis- Zoom In, Zoom out, Keep Only, Remove Only, Forms)
    Also i am unable to find the EAS console( but instalation wizard shows it has been installed)

  • HD I/O issue with MBP 17(2010 MC024)

    After about half year use of my MBP 17, the I/O of local hard disk(5400rpm 500GB) gets really slow. I had only 1 partition(system shows 499GB) on the disk.
    AJA System Test show the HD just hit 49MB/s of IN and 48MB/s of out, more or less. And I also run the same program from Blackmagic Design, the result remains the same. The booting time of the system was also super slow, the icon on the starting-up screen needs to run more than 40 rounds but it only needed 12 to 15 rounds when it was new. Not only the booting, copying large video files from/to external HD also takes more time. Anything relating to HD I/O gets slow, even the launch of Chrome or Safari---it took no time to show up and the icon in the dock only jumped one time, but it takes more the 10secs to get started now. So I don't think it's the mistake of the Testing softwares, and I believe the system could handle the basic I/O efficiently both in testing and real usage.
    After several methods including defragment, catch cleaning and something like that, I gave up and reinstall the Mac OS 10.6.3(install DVD in box). everything returns normal, AJA system test can reach 75MB/s of both IN and OUT.
    I really can't find out why the I/O of the local HD gets slower and slower. I did installed lots of softwares but can softwares affect the I/O ability of a system? A PC with windows do gets slow without proper maintenance but I never see an old windows getting slow to copy files.
    Has someone ever encountered this before? it's really weired and I really need some help or advices.

    It turns out that I tested my 30" ACD with a friends Macbook and it has the same phenomenon. It's quite strange. The darker the blue or grey the more this line flows out from the grey bar frame on Safari or Mail windows. The smaller the window the less evident the phenomenon. Again, it has no effect on the windows themselves, and only occurs toward the top of the display. When you move the window down on the screen it disappears. And it is only the line below the grey upper bar that is rather bold that bleeds out across the screen.
    I wonder if there is a way to reset the display or move to some default setting that would correct this.

  • Use sumif() with Excel 2010 sheets stored on SharePoint 2010

    Hello everyone,
    I am experiencing an issue with two Excel sheets stored on SharePoint 2010 in a simple document library within a team site. One of the files contains the source data (data.xlsx) and the second file contains the formulas calculating different things (summary.xlsx),
    based on what is stored in data.xlsx. This basically works fine and we are able to do things like
    =SUM('http://sharepoint.demo.tld/Shared Documents/[data.xlsx]Sheet1'!$X$122:$X$123)
    and also complex things. That formula for example works fine even with only the summary.xlsx file opened. Means the reference to the data.xlsx file is working properly and I get the correct results. But as soon as the formula becomes more complex like
    =SUMIF('http://sharepoint.demo.tld/Shared Documents/[data.xlsx]Sheet1'!$L:$L;A2;'http://sharepoint.demo.tld/Shared Documents/[data.xlsx]Sheet1'!$X:$X)
    the formula only works fine when the source sheet (data.xlsx) is opened, too. I was expecting the summary.xlsx to store the last value in it and only recalculate the formulars when I force it to recalculate the formular. But as soon as I open summary.xlsx
    without data.xlsx being opened it displays #Value! - with and without recalculating the formulas. Seems as soon as the reference file is not opened this kind of formula gets broken. But I don't get it because SUM() does work fine even without the source file
    opened.
    Additionally, it becomes more strange. As soon as I open up the data.xlsx and enable editing the fields containing #Value! in summary.xlsx immediately represent the correct values.
    Does anyone know why this happens and whether there is a way to solve this? We will require this kind of formula for that kind of sheets.

    Hi Chris,
    It is by design that the SUMIF function can only work when the source sheet is opened and the SUM function can work 
    without the opening the source sheet in Excel files.
    This issue will occur on all excel files no matter if they are stored in SharePoint or not, and it is not an issue in SharePoint.
    So if you want to make the SUMIF function to work, you need to keep the source sheet open.

  • Cannot view Master Data Services Models with Excel Add-In, using MSSQServer 2014 Trial and Excel 2010 (non-trial)

    I'm using using MSSQServer 2014 Trial with Master Data Services installed. I have connected to the MDS server with the Excel 2010 MDS Add-In. 
    Models are not listed in the Add-In's Explorer browser. When I open the MDS server with IE, no models are listed either.
    I can view them locally on the server in IE.
    There are no remote DB access issues.
    Is it just that the 2014 Trial version does not supply this info remotely??

    Would be good if the interface would show some kind of alert to that fact.

  • Slowness Issues with Windows Authentication in SharePoint Foundation 2010 sites

    All, 
    We are having a strange issue with SharePoint Foundation 2010 sites where sites are very slowly loading when accessed via windows based authentication where as the extended sites in  forms authentication are loading normally.
    There were no error logs or even SharePoint logs also except the images load time is showing with different load times.
    Attached are the patches that were updated to the server that may be issue but not sure. Can some one please share your thoughts.
    SQL connectivity b/w the server is good.there are no n/w issues except that the users are using the sites with a different domain other than the domain in which the servers were hosted.
    There is a trust b/w the two domains.This was never changed and there were no issues in the last 2 years.

    Inder: All the certificate have intermedite certificates. You need to logon to each SP server, and install
    these certificates on trusted root authority
