Issue with playing ringtones in iTunes with Windows 7

For some reason I am having an issue playing ringtones I've created via my iTunes library. It keeps prompting me to authorize my computer so I can play the ringtone in iTunes but my computer is already authorized (I run Windows 7, iTunes 9.0.3 and only have the one computer authorized). I deauthorized the previous computer the library was on when I purchased the one I currently use and haven't had any other issues. Despite not being able to play the ringtones in iTunes, they transfer and play on my iPhone and all other purchases in iTunes are playing as well. I've tried the various troubleshooting tips listed on this site (i.e. changing user account settings, de-authorizing then re-authorizing etc) to no avail.

I have the exact same problem, on a MacBook 10.6.2, iTunes 9.0.3. I went to the genius bar, and reported the problem through the iTunes Store. After some boilerplate troubleshooting recommendations, I finally got a response that "ringtones will not play in iTunes, they will skip over them".
This is definitely not how it used to handle ringtones, it is unclear to me if they are saying this is a bug, or an intentional deprecation of iTunes' function. I would recommend staying away from iTunes created ringtones, self made ones still preview fine in iTunes.

With previous editions of iTunes for Windows, I could play a CD at the same time as it was being imported. That does not seem to work anymore. Why not, and is there a way to do both with the most current version? I am running a Surface Pro 2 with Windows 8.1 and the most recent vesion of iTunes, which, in all other respects, works well. I just can't listen to an album for the 1/2 to 1 hour that it takes to import it into my library.

  • Can anyone help me with how to install itunes on windows 8.  The apple techs suggestions did not work

Can anyone help me with how to install itunes on windows 8.  The apple techs suggestions didn't work.  Spent most of today installing and uninstalling itunes according to their instructions.  They will charge me again if I call again.

When I run the iTunes64setup.exe it says: "The thingy is not a valid win32 application."
That generally indicates that the installer has been getting damaged on the download.
What web browser have you been using for downloading the iTunes64Setup.exe? Does it make any difference if you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa)?

  • My iphone 4 wont play ringtones on itunes

my iphone 4 wont play ringtones on itunes as it says i need to be running an iOS 5.0 or later. i tried to update my phone but itunes says my phone is up to date with version 4.3.5? Any ideas? this has just happened today (12/10/11) The ringtones i alread have play fine on the phone.

I believe you have to make the ringtones in iTunes for them to work. Not sure if they are mp4 format as that is what works on the iPhones.

  • Any problems with compatibility of update iTunes with OSX 10.7.5

Has anyone noticed any problems with compatibility of updated iTunes with OSX 10.7.5?

Okay. At the beginning of this discussion I was on 6.0.1. However, I responded to an update since then and since I didn't realize 6.0.2 wasn't compatible with Lion I responded and updated.
Now, with your message, a clean 6.0.1 installation sounds like a great idea. However, I've downloaded it from your link and when I install just from the install program, I still have an "About Safari" showing 6.0.2. I then tried setting up a separate Safari folder in the Applications folder and installed into that. I only got some Safari-associated folders and items there but no new Safari app icon... and the Safari 6.0.2 icon (which I hadn't gotten rid of since I don't want to lose my bookmarks, etc... want to transfer those once the 6.0.1 is there) is still there.
All the hanging-up problems are still happening, btw... and probably even worse. Right now I'm using Camino, a good browser but Safari has features I'd like to get back to... got Firefox, too, and like it, but I've got it set up for other family members to use and Safari here for me.
Any help on how to get 6.0.1 installed again without losing bookmarks greatly appreciated.

  • Problems with playing songs in iTunes

as the subject says. I have som problems with playing songs. not everyone just a some..
If we take for example that a song is 8min. then at 1.40 it just stops and goes to the next one. I can jump over it with pressing in the middle for example. it plays. as normal. UNTIL. 3 mins. then the same problems appear. I don't really understand how. just between 1.40-1.50 iTunes thinks that the song is finished. I know my english isn't so good but cuz there is no swedish support. I have to write here. any answers would be good

    I'm having a similar problem.
Every now and then, a track from a ripped CD or from iTunes or from eMusic will "look" OK in iTunes (or on my iPod), but when the track plays, it gets partially through and it jumps to the next track in the playlist.
For example, if playback of track 1 pauses and jumps to track 2 at 1:30 into playback of track 1, & I click on 1:31 or later in track 1, the rest of track 1 will play fine. But if the playback of track 1 starts at the before the "skip point," the track will stop & iTunes (or iPod) goes on to the next track in the playlist. If I locate the file (on my external drive) and play it in the finder, there's always buzzing sound at the point where the iTunes jumps to the next track.
For ripped CD's this is not a huge deal, I just re-rip & usually all is well. With eMusic, I can download again, but with iTunes, I have to file a complaint & so far they've just credited my account, which is OK, but time consuming.
At first I thought the problem was with my optical drive, but then the problem started happening with downloads from iTunes and eMusic as well. NONE of these shenanigans happened before I upgraded to iTunes 7.6, so I'm wondering if that's where the problem is. One thing's for sure: I'm not going to "jump" at the next upgrade of iTunes!
I'm totally stumped & bummed. iTunes used to be a really good friend, now I find myself wondering if I should bother with putting my entire CD collection on iTunes if it's no longer as reliable as it used to be.

  • Problems with sending ringtones to iTunes.

I'm using the latest version of Garageband '08, and when I click send ringtone to itunes, it says it's sending it to iTunes, then itunes opens up but my ringtone is not there. It's like nothing even happened. Why is it doing this?

I'm having the exact same problem. Have followed the tutorials on Facebook, researched it in this board, and still am not finding an answer.
    Still looking.

  • Add Current Playing track to Itunes With Verification

Okay I am trying to create an applescript that adds the current playing track in itunes to a playlist. However I want it to be able to check if the track is already in the playlist. So far I have this in which I got online:
    set myList to "iPod"
    property okflag : false
    tell application "Finder"
if (get name of every process) contains "iTunes" then ¬
    set okflag to true
    end tell
    if okflag then
    tell application "iTunes"
    set currentList to playlist myList
add (get location of current track) to currentList
    end tell
    end if
    Message was edited by: Ralphdp

What sort of check are you looking for? The first part of the script checks to see that the current track is not already present in the desired playlist. If not, the track is added to the playlist. Are you looking for some sort of confirmation that it has indeed arrived, or do you want some sort of rock solid method to be sure that the track gets added? I suppose that a repeat could be built that continues to run until the playlist shows that the track is indeed present, but it seems overkill to me.

  • Issue playing videos in iTunes with Windows 7 x64

    Hi, hoping someone can help.
I  am running Windows 7 64 bit, and have installed the latest version of iTunes. I have around 150 HD movies stored on my PC, which were previously from an iMac I owned. Whenever I play one of these, the video keeps stuttering and dropping frames then freezing etc. Now, the issue is not with the files, as they play in WMP and VLC perfectly fine. It happens in exactly the same spot in the videos everytime they are played. My CPU reaches 100% then drops to 0% as the freezing is happening. It appears as though my CPU cannot handle the files, yet they play fine in another player.
I was wandering if anyone else is having this problem, it's incredibly frustrating because I love iTunes as a media manager.
    Thanks.

Try reset winsock and see it will fix the issue.
    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Issue with playing music in itunes

I recently just got iTunes on my new HP Vista laptop. When I used an external harddrive to move my music from my other computer to the laptop all was fine. When i put the songs and albums up in itunes and tried to play it, it would not play. The buttons were in position for it to play, it was just physically not moving or playing at all. To test to see if my song files were ok i tried to play the file in windows media player, they appeared to be playing but no sound was being made(mute wasn't on and my sound for the computer is fine, drivers and all). I have no clue if I accidently deleted something vital for the playing of sound files or something, i do know i did delete alot of the extra unnecessary stuff HP had preinstalled on the notebook and could've possibly deleted something used for the sound of song files. I'm usually a dell person so i'm not completely familiar with HPs and their functioning, but i have a HP Pavilion dv6500 special edition. I'm aware this model had issues with sound and audio but i mean my sound is working fine its just that when i try and use a program like itunes to play the song it physically doesn't play it, it just idles(the song's progess bar does't move and is at 0:00 when its set to play and no sound is made. If anyone knows what might be the problem, i'm all ears

  • How to move newly created ringtones on itunes with extension mr4 to ringtones

I have created ringtones using i tunes. I had no problem creating them, they play well and appear under music in iTunes. One thing that I am unable to solve, is that i can't move the ringtone from music to ringtone tab on the right. I tried dragging it, didn't work. And I also made sure the tones were checked in preferrences. Does anybody can help me or guide me with the issue, will appreciate that.

Chris, you are incredible! Can't tell you how much happier and grateful to you. I was struggling last evening for hours and so frustrated.
It worked. And you explained so well each step.
You will be my first choice to ask something if I need.
I wish I could give you one million points for that.
    Cheers.

  • Problems with the installation of iTunes on Windows Vista

When I download any version of itunes error occurs' Microsoft.VC80.CRT, Version =8.0.50727.4053'',''type =''win32'',''1fc8b3b9 ... publicKeyToken = Architecture =''or86''. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736FD'. How can I solve this problem?

    HRESULT: 0x800736FD
These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 800736FD, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?)
