Issue with reimaging a Windows 7 x64 with SP1 Dell ultrabook XPS13

Have a system that someone updated the BIOS and didn't disable BitLocker first. I haven't a recovery key so trying to reimage the system but it doesn't copy the OS to the drive. Though log shows the Partition and format step is successful

  • UE4 demos not running due to dependency issues after upgraded from Windows 7 x64 to Windows 8.1 Pro x64

Hi, I posted a more in detail thread about this on the UE4 forums.
    https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/84890/dependency-issues-with-running-ue4-demos.html

    Hi,
Are you using a Gmail account on both Outlook PC client and on the phone? Is it an IMAP account?
Since you mentioned it also occurs to your phone, have you tried to logon the Gmail webmail to check the account status? If new emails sent to the account don't show up on the phone, it's not isolated to Outlook then, we need to contact the Gmail support
    to get this issue addressed.
For the emails missing issue, I suggest you just open the .pst file instead of importing it. In Outlook 2013, go to FILE tab -> Open & Export -> Open Outlook Data File -> Browse to the .pst file and open it. It should then be displayed
in the account list on left. Check if the emails are still missing.
If you can confirm you included the emails in 2014 but they are still nowhere in sight, they may be filtered by the Outlook View. Run Outlook with the switch "/cleanviews" to check whether the emails are shown:
Press Win + R, type "outlook.exe /cleanviews" in the blank box, press Enter. Outlook will reset default view, all custom views will be lost.
Let me know if you have further questions.

  • DLU with Windows 7 x64 & Existing local user

Hi, I have a strange bug. I have a Windows 7 x64 Enterprise SP1 that I'm trying to configure a volatile user on it. I have also configured my Windows 7 to do an auto logon with a local Windows account which is "Usager". I also modified the registry to disable CASA.The auto logon work perfectly and CASA doesn't appear either. So I have configure my DLU with the "Use the credential specified below (Always volatile)", the "Use user source password and the "Manage existing user account (if any)" options. Finally, I add to the registry the "AllowDLUWithoutNovellClient" registry key under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Novell\\Authenticat ion" since I dont have the Novell client install on the computer. Now each time I log off and logon again I can see that the volatile user never applies. Why does the DLU never delete the "Usager" profile? What am I missing here? We are running here 11 SP2.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Shaun, after rechecking everything I made some little progress. I'm now able to make it work but not always! I just can't find a pattern to the why it works now and not later on. Sometimes I just reboot and that's it. Other time I can reboot the computers 10 times in a row it just won't work. Is there something in the logs on the workstation that I could use to make sense here?!
Note: I'm following the guide lines in the pdf "zen11_cm_policies.pdf" on page 30 in section "3.2.3 Implementing the Dynamic Local User Policy Without the Novell Client".
    Thanks again for the help!

  • PSE 7 Editors Hang Badly in Windows 7RC x64

Currently running Windows 7RC x64 on a Dell XPS-720-H2C o/c to 3.73 GHz with 6 GB of PC8500 DDR2 o/c to 1066 and a pair of NVidia 8800GTX display adapters in SLI.  The machine runs Windows 7 like butter and is a joy to use.  Purchased and downloaded PSE 7.0 andf the install was flawless.  Ran the organizer and cataloged all my photos very quickly with no performance issues.
Opened the Editor and created a new file (500x503, 72dpi, 24 bit) and it took about 2.5 to 3 minutes for the image area to show up.  PSE7 was totally locked the entire time but did NOT show as Not Responding in Task Manager.  Once the image shows up, any changes to the file also take 2.5 to 3 minutes.  Very frustrating.  Every one of my other applications are running flawlessly in this Win 7 envoronment.
Uninstalled and reinstalled with the same result.  Changed out RAM (I have quite a few spares lying around) and still no change.  Enabled/disabled SLI which had zero affect.  Ran the executables in a variety of comaptibility modes, still with no improvement.  Not sure what else to try... maybe PSE 7.0 is not compatible with Windows 7.
I went through much of this forum and couldn't find anything substantive regarding performance problems with Vista x64 and essentially nothing regarding Windows 7RC x64.  Any ideas out there?
    Thanks in advance,
    Doug

Others have reported PSE working with some versions of Windows 7, and many have reported PSE working with Vista 64.  And many people have various problems getting PSE to run on Vista 32.  So it's entirely possible your problems are not directly related to Windows 7 or 64-bit.

  • Satellite P750: Unable to install Bluetooth Stack driver on Windows 7 (x64)

    Hello.
    I own a *Satellite P750-02T* (Part no. *PSAY3A-02T001*).
In the order what I did:
    1) I formatted its HDD and reinstalled OS to *Windows 7 x64 Ultimate SP1*.
Then I downloaded *ONLY BIOS and the drivers* from [its Downloads page|http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/p750/psay3a-02t001/download?os=25] :
    2) I updated its BIOS to *v1.90* (the laptop came with v1.80)
    3) I installed all the drivers:
    - both LAN and WiFi
    - Intel Chipset (latest available)
    - all video drivers (Intel HD Graphics, NVIDIA Graphics, and Intel HDMI)
    - Card Reader
    - Realtek HD Audio (latest)
    - Synaptics Touchpad
    - USB3.0
    - IR
    - TV-Tuner
However, I'm *unable to install the Bluetooth driver (v8.00.06(T)* )...
When I run setup from the [above-mentioned page|http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/p750/psay3a-02t001/download?os=25] it partially detects *'Bluetooth USB Controller-10 from TOSHIBA'* (USB\VID_0930&PID_0215&REV_001)
and then installation simply freezes displaying +'Installing the Bluetooth Driver. Please wait+.' and stays like that forever...
I also tried downloading a driver from [another location|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/index.php?page=download-toshiba] for TOSHIBA notebooks - v8.00.02(T):
and followed installation instructions displayed under 'Details'
but there was the same outcome - the setup simply freezes...
Installing Hotfix (*KB978258*) recommended there didn't work either - the message '+The update is not applicable to your computer+' pops up.
And I understand why - this Hotfix is [already included|http://download.microsoft.com/download/E/B/A/EBA55FE2-373A-4351-9346-6D762B79AA69/Updates%20in%20Win7%20and%20WS08R2%20SP1.xls] into Service Pack 1 for MS Windows 7.
I spent hours searching on the Internet for a solution. Although there were some similar cases none of the recommendations actually worked. I tried installing:
    - WiFi driver before installing Bluetooth (someone suggested that those two are the parts of the same card);
    - resuming installation in Safe Mode;
    - *Toshiba Value Added Package* hoping those tools somehow will kick in.
    Nothing worked...
It's interesting that when for the sake of experiment I tried to run installation for my generic Bluetooth adapter (using the driver [for non-TOSHIBA notebooks|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/index.php?page=download]) then everything run smoothly!
*Using Bluetooth connection on this laptop is very crucial for me.*
I hope I shall not have to return this wonderful notebook as I know TOSHIBA is one of the best manufactures and am sure there is a solution to this problem.
    Thank you very much.
    Evgeny.

For FN functionality you must install Toshba Value added package. Toshiba flash cards utility is part of this package.

  • Freezing Issues with Video Playlists - Windows 7 x64, iTunes 10

OK, I've been troubleshooting this problem to the best of my ability for weeks now. I can't come up with any solution, if anyone has any insight I would greatly appreciate it.
When playing videos from a playlist when one video ends but before another begins itunes becomes unresponsive. Sometimes a new video will start right away but it's rare, mostly an outright freeze, sometimes a new video will begin after about a minute or two of unresponsiveness.
This leads me to believe that when itunes is updating the library database files it is somehow getting stuck.
Interestingly enough, if I skip to the end of a video just to test if it will play the next in sequence it works perfectly. It only does this behavior when a video plays all the way through.
    What I have tried already:
-Complete re-install of my entire OS after a clean format.
-Added all itunes files to the exception lists of my virus software (NOD32).
-Uninstalled virus software completely (same behavior without virus scanning software at all)
    -Ran itunes as an administrator.
-Removed all devices from the PC with the exception of critical components, plus mouse and keyboard, sound card.
    -Updated all drivers
-Ran itunes in compatability mode (Vista, XP)
-Completed all suggested items for "unexpected freezes" in the itunes help section.
    I am running windows 7 x64, i7 @3.06GHz, 6GB Ram.
    Running itunes 10.2.1.1
I briefly tried to downgrade to itunes 9, this seemed to clear up the problem. This is not a solution to me, I want the shared library features for my ipad.
All video files play fine in other media players.
    Please help, I'm completely frustrated.

As much as I loathe thread bumpers I'm still at a loss as how to fix this issue. If anyone has any insight I would greatly appreciate it.

  • SSLVPN connectivity issue with Windows 7 x64 All browsers.

I think that I have tried everything to get this working but whatever I seem to do I cannot connect to my SSLVPN using Windows 7 x64. The 32bit version is fine. I have installed the Microsoft C++ Redistributable 2010 and 2005 for both x86 and x64. I have tried clearing the cache in the Browser. I have installed Chrome and Firefox , I even started my laptop using the 'Disable Driver Signature Enforcement' from Advanced Boot options but nothing is working.
Does anyone have anything else to try. This is a bit of a showstopper for us because not do we have this issue with Windows but we have Mac users as well and that is also an issue.
Cisco really needs to fix this issue fast...
    Please help.
    Thanks

Try using both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Internet Explorer.  Sometimes one of the two will work.

  • Wireless issues with MacBook Pro i5 in Boot Camp Windows 7 x64

I have a 2010 Macbook Pro i5 15''. I'm usually connecting to the 802.11n 5Ghz wireless network of my Time Capsule when running OS X, which works absolutely fine. When running Windows 7 x64 in Boot Camp though, this network can't be found and I have to connect to my secondary 802.11g network of an AirPort Express. Even this network connection usually dies after a few minutes of intensive use though (copying files, playing online games; it's fine with low activity like web surfing). It still appears connected normally, but no data is being transmitted. I have to reset the wireless adapter to get it to work again. The same network works fine for any OS X device.
The Windows drivers for the Broadcom chip in this machine seem really flaky. Anybody else have these problems or maybe a solution?

Yes, sorry, the Boot Camp area would have been a better place to ask. After some more googling I found a helpful thread though, which led me to download this driver package:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?swItem= ob-80585-1&lang=en&cc=us&idx=3&mode=4&
From it I installed the driver called "Broadcom 43225 802.11b/g/n", and presto, I can finally use my 802.11n network under Windows. Hope that's helping other people that may have this problem.

  • Measurement Computing USB-DIO96H driver issue with Labview 2012 SP1 on Windows 7 x64

Is anyone else having issues with measuremetn Computing's USB-DIO96H driver in Labview 2012 SP1. It throws warnings in Labview when loaded that are unresolvable as you can't save to the DLL driver file. Also it regularily crashes Labview randomly. I am not impressed with their driver. Anyone have any suggestion other than replacing with NI-DAQ solution, which I am working on?

I've taken a look and I don't see any drivers available for that device on ni.com. There are two potential workarounds that would both involve building your own driver:
    1. Write a LabVIEW application that calls functions on the DLL you downloaded from Measurements Group
    2. Write a LabVIEW application that addresses the device using NI-VISA and serial communication.
Some resources if you choose to go down that path:

  • CHKDSK fails on fresh install of Windows 7 x64 on mid-2009 MBP with SSD

There was an earlier post about this that has been archived prematurely that I will reproduce below. The main issue is a flaw in the Windows 7 x64 CHKDSK of the SSD drive in the mid-2009 MBP= 5,2. With fresh OSX installs, bootcamp 3.1, Windows 7 x64 all updates, the CHKDSK operation checks files at about 1 per second in stage 4 of 5, verifying file data.
Moderators: please leave this open until it is actually resolved.

Windows 7 x64, MacBook Pro, frequent CHKDSK after HDD firmware update
    Posted: Nov 2, 2009 6:45 AM
Hello, I have been having filesystem problems on my Windows 7 partition since the HDD related firmware update (the latest Performance update) was released and installed onto this mid 2009 MacBook Pro.
The HDD is a 500 GB 7200 RPM model, but it never gave me any troubles under OS X before the "fix" and I know other users had intermittent problems with the HDD on their MacBook Pro's related to the HDD making noises and pausing.
The fix was released, I installed it and I started seeing my first problem in Windows 7 x64 a few days after... I cleanly shut the OS down, but when I booted it back it asked me to perform a coherency check to the Filesystem... I thought that the problem was related to the fact that I was using the RC1 build of Windows 7... although that problem never manifested itself in the weeks before the Performance Update (HDD firmware fix) was installed and Windows 7 x64 RC1 had been on there and used frequently.
I recently purchased Windows 7 retail a few days ago and after a bit of trouble-free operation I started having problems again... always shutting the PC down carefully and I was asked to run the CHKDSK utility at boot twice already.
    What to do?

    Hi there,
I have a different experience. I installed Windows 7 before the "performance update 1.0" came out. I actually experienced the chkdsk launch problem with Windows 7. I had done repartitioning and clean-install several times but cannot solve the problem. So I tried to install XP and Vista on my MBA (Mid 2009 with SSD) and found that these two OS doesn't introduce such problem.
To be honest, I'm not sure which caused such problem, Windows 7, a bootcamp driver, or EFI. But I'm sure that CHKDSK in Windows 7 has an obvious bug that needs to be patched (memory leak and maybe this problem as well). So now I'm using Windows Vista SP2. And I'm happy with Vista SP2 (seems to become faster and stable now).
    Cheer,

  • Problems deploying Windows 7 x64 computers with more than 8GB RAM

    SCCM 2012 R2 CU1
    Windows 7 x64
We have a weird problem after upgrading from SP1 to R2 CU1. We have built a Windows 7 64 bit image with the latest updates (currently September 2014 updates). It deploys fine to all computers. But after some days – don’t know exactly – guess after 4-7 days
    - we start getting errors on computers with more than 8 GB of RAM. The errors just start out of the blue. We didn't change TS, image or driver package.
The error shows in 3 different ways – depending of the computer model.
    1) BSOD – STOP 0x000000F4. Disk error.
    2) Task Sequence error 0x87D00269 when installing the first Application in TS. The error seems to have something to do with Management Point not found.
    3) Task Sequence simply stops after installing CMclient. No errors - it simply stops.
For instance we get the BSOD on the Lenovo ThinkCentre M93p. But on the ThinkCentre M83 we get the TS error 0x87D00269. M93p and M83 uses the same driver package. They consequently  fail every time after the error has begun. If we reduce (remove physically)
the memory to max. 8GB of RAM, they successfully run the Task Sequence.  We get the above errors on both Lenovo and HP machines with more than 8GB.
I made a copy of the production TS and started testing. I created a new driver package for M93p/M83. It contains only the NIC drivers. Now M93p an M83 successfully finishes the TS. Adding sata or chipset or MEI/SOL drivers to the package I get the 0x87D00269
error on both m93p and M83. At least not the BSOD on the M93p ;-)
Tried setting  SMSTSMPListRequestTimeout to 180 in the TS. Also tried putting in a 5 minute break before installing the first Application in the TS. Also tried putting in SMSMP=mp1.mydomain in the installation properties for the CMclient. It is still
    the same problem.

Investegating the 0x87D00269 error on the siteservers Status Messages Queries is weird.
Install Static Applications failed, hr=0x87d00269. The operating system reported error 617: You have attempted to change your password to one that you have used in the past. The policy of your user account does not allow this. Please select a password that
    you have not previously used.
Hopefully this is a bug in translating the errorcodes? Just to be sure I checked all the SCCM serviceaccounts and none of them have expired passwords.  And again why only on computers with more than 8GB RAM.
Anyone else had problems rolling computers with more than 8GB og RAM?
Why does this happens after a few days? To begin with, it runs just perfect and then starts failing on all machines with more than 8GB. Without a change in TS, image and driverpackage. We have seen this pattern for the last 3 month after
updating our image with the latest Windows Updates. It all started after updating from SP1 to R2 CU1.
Why does it only affect machines with more than 8GB RAM?
How to get rid of the 0x87D00269 error?
Seems to be somehow related to driver installation mechanism in SCCM in combination with Windows 7 64 bit, +8GB RAM and SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 or perhaps just R2.
Any help or hints would be appreciated!
    Thanks
    Anders

We have the same workaround, using a x64 boot image resolved all our issues with WinPE 5.0.
    Machines with >4GB of RAM
Lenovo ThinkPad T540p failed applying drivers with 80040005
    Black screen/white cursor issues intermittently
No updates from Microsoft, they are still looking through the logs, but we have updated our boot images and all is well now. Our case it still open with Microsoft, they are researching the logs.

  • Lenovo X131e doesn't work with Prolific PL2303 based USB to Serial Adapter and Windows 7 x64

This is sort of a bug report. A Lenovo X131e with Windows 7 x64 and the PL2303 driver including 1.6, 1.61 and 1.7 will not successfully install the driver - Windows always reports "Driver Install Failed" on plug in to USB 3 or USB2 ports. However, putting a USB2.0 hub inbetween the USB to Serial Adapter and either USB port type makes the adapter work fine. This was not the case with the X130e. I'm not sure where to report this beyond this posting, but more of an FYI.

If the USB can be used for other equipment,
That may be compatibility issues for USB and Prolific PL2303.
Don't plug Serial Adapter when installing the driver,
Ofter installation, Connect serial adapter to see whether it is working normally.

All I do is download the x64 bit version of itunes, turn off the AV, install using administrator rights, and reboot.  The application installs fine and it opens up however when I go to use the application it loads about 90% of the itunes store and then throws a windows error box stating the application has stopped responding.

I have the same issue with Windows 8. I have a brand new computer. All my music was carried over to my new computer from my old computer using the icloud. However, I cannot sync my ipod nano 7 to the new computer. Same thing happens. It says it is synching but nothing happens. I have found that it will allow me to sync my purchased songs but not the rest of the content. I am beyond annoyed. I have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it and even tried resetting my ipod nano to factory settings. Any advice????

  • HP PhotoSmart C4599 problems with Wireless on Windows 7 x64

Hello, I have a printer HP PhotoSmart C4599 running great on my Windows 7, but the problem is the Wireless of the printer. I've got a laptop (running on Windows Vista x86) that I use to print documents via Wireless and when i try to add the printer by wireless on the laptop it says the main computer (the one that is running Windows 7 x64) does not have the OEM proper driver installed, and it has...
Anyone has a solution to make the wireless of the HP PhotoSmart C4599 to work on Windows 7? I really appreciated.
Hope to hear some quick responses.
    Thank you.

Verify that power outlet is working with a lamp or other appliance.
Verify power cord and power module are correct parts for that specific printer. Compare the Output voltage on the power module (the black box) with the listed voltage on the printer where the power cord plugs in. These must be the same
Remove power cord and power module from printer and power outlet. Separate power cord and module (let stand for 15 seconds)
Plug Power Cord into Power Module (plug firmly together)
Plug Power Cord with module directly into WALL outlet (Remove any surge protector or extension cords and plug printer cord directly into wall socket)
Check to see if power cord or module has LED light.
If has LED make sure it is glowing (if not glowing then replace power cord and module)
If no LED  Plug cord into printer - make sure it is plugged in properly and firmly.
Press power button on printer to power up. If does not power up first time hit power button a few times to see if it works.
if you happen to have another printer with same power cord configuration (fits specs) try these steps again
If printer will not become responsive at this point, then you'll need to replace the printer.
if it is a hardware issue, contact HP support at 1-800-474-6836.  Often there are special offers on replacements available to returning customers who are having hardware issues.

  • Windows 7 Install Issues with Mac Pro

I have Mac Pro with Windows XP SP3 installed with Boot Camp on a separate, dedicated 250GB HD.
I purchased an upgrade version of Windows 7 Home Premium. I hoped to install the 64-bit version. I upgraded, per Boot Camp I&S Guide, Boot Camp to version 3.1. After Boot Camp upgrade, I mounted the Windows 7 64-bit installation disk. Since the Windows disk did not open automatically, I then attempted to open the Setup.exe file but got the following error message –
“D:/setup.exe is not a valid Win 32 application.”
I suspect the Boot Camp 3.1 upgrade was for the 32-bit Windows XP system currently installed and this caused Windows 7 (64-bit) not to open.
If my suspicion is correct, would upgrading to Boot Camp 3.1 (64-bit) cause problems with the currently installed Windows XP? Any advice would be appreciated.

I have since attempted to boot from the Windows 7 install disk by using both the OS 10.6.3 System Preferences/Startup Disk and from within Windows XP using the Boot Camp Control Panel. In both cases, all I saw was a black screen with a “Select CD-ROM Boot Type” and flashing cursor. No keyboard input was possible.
If anyone encounters this problem, go to the Boot Camp/Installation and Storage discussion and search for “Select CD-ROM Boot Type”. Hal Jay Greene has an excellent article here titled “Select CD-ROM Boot Type Error installing Windows 7 in Boot Camp walkthrough” dated Mar 20, 2010 that walks one through the process of creating a boot disk for installing Windows 7 x64. Two minor comments on his discussion. John Anderson’s blog is at www.AndersonsHatch.com (note extra s) and Imgburn can be downloaded free from www.imgburn.com.
I used Mr. Greene’s procedure and the resultant boot disk loaded Windows 7 correctly.
Unfortunately, a new issue arose. Installing Windows 7 over Windows XP requires a clean install that eliminates all Boot Camp installations. After installing Windows 7, I attempted to load Boot Camp by inserting the Mac SL installation disk and clicking on Setup in the Boot Camp folder. The result was this error message: “Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model”. Fortunately, there is a procedure that worked for me, and my MacPro, to bypass this error message. It can be found near the bottom of this article http://blog.andersonshatch.com/2009/01/11/windows-7-x64-on-a-macbook-pro-guide/ on John Anderson’s blog.
