Port 554 has been opened on our university firewall per Quicktime support recommendations, however, our users are not able to connect and recieve streamed media while off campus. Streaming server is on campus. If users are on campus there are no problems. Our network staff are less than enthusiatic about helping.

I seem to be having a lot of connectivity issues my iPad. It takes a long time to load and sometimes will not load a page at all. I seem to be having issues with streaming in that it will play a song and just stop. It seems I have to turn it completely off and restart.
Anyone had these issues?Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings

Issues with importing from excel
I have been running into a several issues with importing from Excel.
First my configuration
I am running SQL Developer ver 1.5.5 Build MAIN-5969
I am on a Windows XP Professional Version 2002 with Service Pack 3
I am importing into an Oracle 10g database.
1. SQL Developer doesn't work on Excel 2007, I have to save all my files into Excel 97-2003 format before I can use them.
2. If I run into an error loading and stop the process, SQL Developer doesn't release the Excel file and I get a sharing violation if I try to save the spreadsheet without closing SQL Developer.
3. I have found that I have to set print area to the area I want to work with, otherwise the import wizard tries to keep adding rows.
4. When using the Import wizard, it keeps adding commas on fields with numerics unless I specify the column in excel as text. Currently the column is formatted as General in the spreadsheet or I can change the wizard format to say the column is an integer, but it actually is just a code field with numeric characters so it may have leading zeroes that I need to keep.

I have a column in excel defined as text but only contains numerics. It is of length 4, but the wizard sets a precision of 5 with a datatype of VARCHAR2. If I try to change it to 4, I get an error saying the field is not large enough. Yet, when I do a LEN on the column, it only gives me a 4. I have other fields in the same sheet that a 3 position numeric and 2 position numeric and those are fine. I am thinking this is related to the comma being inserted in a numeric field for anything greater than 3 positions.
5. Importing excel dates to oracle dates doesn't work. I have to convert the excel date column to text then import as a VARCHAR, then convert to Date once in the database.
6. The default of nullible is not set on any columns and I have to set them before the import. (I would prefer it set to nullible and I have to uncheck the box to make it not nullible. I would prefer to import all of the data and then deal with the nulls after they have been pulled in)
7. When I select header columns included it uses that as the column names. Is it possible to do the name length check then? It has bit me a few times where I try to import and forget to check the name length and then I get an error when I start running the import.
8. If one of the columns to import has all nulls, then the precision comes out to 0 and if it isn't changed an error occurs on import. Could this situation default to a precision of 1?
9. It would be nice if there was a completion message displayed and a cancel option while running.On point 3.
I have a column in excel that consists of numbers. 4 digit numeric codes. Ex, 1111, 2345, etc
The column's format is general. It displays as just 4 numbers.
When I start the wizard initially, the column appears with data as 1,111, 2,345, etc, on the Data Preview screen.
It determines the precision to be 5 on the column definition screen.
If I change the precision to 4 then continue, that field will error out when I verify with "not big enough to hold the data in source columns"
If, I change the excel column to a TEXT column.
Excel still displays as 1111, 2345, etc
The wizard then displays the same data 1111, 2345 on the Data Previeiw screen
Yet, when I get to the column definition screen it still sizes it as a 5
If I change it to a 4, I get the same error when verifying.
If I leave them alone as 5, then it processes just fine. -
My "undo" command does not work in the new version of GB. Please advise. This is a real problem. I had no issues with GB from iLife 11.
Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)

In the above wsdl the collection of fintObjInst if of type xs:anytype. From the wsdl, I do not see the xsd mapping for AccountIC which includes Name and Desc. Due to which, when invoking the web service from a different client like c#(by creating proxy business service), I am unable to set the parameters for AccountIC. I am using JAX-WS stack and WLS 10.3. I have already looked at blog http://weblogs.java.net/blog/kohlert/archive/2006/10/jaxws_and_type.html but unable to solve this issue. However, at run time using a tool like SoapUI, when this wsdl is imported, I am able to see all the params related to AccountIC class.
Can some one help me with this.

This will add the schema for the data type (AccountIC) to the WSDL.

Server 2012 SMB 3.0 file cluster issues with Streaming media services 2008 R2
So I have a file server setup with the always available feature turned off on this brand new cluster. Everything seems to function normally and I can hit files from the shares no problem.
My issue I built a brand new 2008 R2 machine and created an on-demand publishing point to point to my 2012 file share cluster. I created a windows account for my windows media service to run as and applied read only to my video share. Media services see
the video files on the server in the GUI so I know its got connectivity, but when I go to test locally or externally it will not play the stream at all. It complains of access even know I know that is not the issue. I have verified the setup and the ACL
stuff is turned off on both the root and the publishing point. I can login to the Media server as my service account and play files from the share no problem. IIS media services can stream the files with no problem and yeah everything seems more like something
possibly with SMB 3.0 and something in media services.
I have a country rule where my data is not allowed in other countries so I have multiple video services on a domain with tunnels and what not my US Streaming services is working great but has a server 2008 R2 file cluster server. If I take that one to my
out of the country publishing point to test it streams great as they use the same services account. If I take my out of the country file share to the US I get the same result just will not work. I have poke prodded and banged my head and since I get this result
I have concluded it must be something with the new security of SMB 3.0.
Does anyone have this working or tested? Also I am using the exact same video file to test all of this. Or is there secret I missed to either make smb 3.0 even more compatible or make streaming services play nice.
Anything helps please let me know.

AdamI'd recommend calling in for support on this one. Things aren't adding up. Probably the most useful thing to do would be to do a network trace of the WMS server connecting to the remote server over SMB.

I had Apple TV up and running for about 3 weeks. All good... then I get an update. Since then I've got the HDCP error, so Netflix doesn't work, nor can I stream from my iphone. By shear coincidence, my Sky TV has flagged up the exact same issue at the same time, despite being problem freem for 3 years ?? So nothing on my TV except YouTube. Looking at the amount of forum content on this matter, Apple know this is a problem.
It's too much of a coincidence not to be related. I requested a phone call at 8:45 this morning, which happened to be 9:00, so I'd left the house. The useless guy said he'd email me something to help..... and I'm still waiting for that email.
I've tried swapping HDMI cables, resetting Sky and Apple TV, resetting the router, changing resolution in the Audio Visual settings, switching on in different sequences.... I'm lost with it.
Is Apple now run by monkeys ? This is beyond a joke. How can an update ruin everything ?

Anyone else having issues when streaming from veetle using safari over wifi?
I like many others have been having issues with my wifi on my iPhone 5 (sometimes when connected to wifi it just freezes up and I need to do a reboot or reset network settings to get it back up and running). In any case, that wasn't bothering me too much but I've noticed now that the veetle web site that I use sometimes to stream shows from on my iPhone stops showing video after a few seconds when using wifi. If i switch to my LTE connection or 3G it works fine but it's only when running with wifi that it has a problem. It will begin to stream a show properly then after a few seconds the video will cut out though the sound keeps playing. My iPad doesn't exhibit the same problems and can stream from veetle perfectly over my wifi. Anyone else out there having similar issues? This will be annoying if i'm travelling out the country and depending solely on wifi for my data and not being able to stream sports and tv shows from Veetle. Just wanted to see how commonplace this problem was. Thanks
All spring and summer Netflix/fios has been a problem. I have used a tool that goes beyond simple speed tests and gets to dividing up thE problem. It appears that the problems reside with fios, however true to form Verizon repair denies any problem (go figure) .

Render issues with footage from Color
I'll start off by noting that this issue only happens running Snow Leopard.
I am having terrible problems when trying to apply and render some effects on footage which has come from Color…specifically, the Bad Film filter. Either at the render completion or during the render, I'll get all sorts of "screen draw" problems, like green and pink pixels everywhere. Sometimes they will only appear in the Canvas window, but if I launch any other app, the new app's is nothing but the screen error and the app is useless, thought I think it still functions, though useless to the point that I'm only left with having to restart. Occasionally, it'll throw that error telling me I must restart (in several different languages). I have occasionally had success with very short clips, but anything much more than 30 seconds is useless. I would think this is a hardware issue; however, it only happens under Snow Leopard and is not an issue with Leopard.
I have performed a clean install from a zeroed disk with both 10.5 and 10.6 and upgraded to the latest point release. I'm not really sure where to go from here. Has anyone experienced anything like this? I have the early 2008 8-core 2.8GHz Mac Pro with 16Gigs of RAM and two monitors connected to the ATI HD 2600 XT. I've also tried rebooting to just one monitor, but no dice. I've run hardware tests from TechTools that came with my ACD's AppleCare and all appears rosy. Real Time effects seem to work just fine and I don't have issues with all effects that require rendering. Most befuddling, I'm having no issue on clips that have not first gone through Color. Strange, huh?Sorry about that.... The footage is ProRes422 1440x1080 going into Color and ProRes422 1920x1080 coming out. I've tried exporting at 8-bit Uncompressed out of Color with the same results.

I'm still just not sure why this only happens in Snow Leopard, while everything works peachy in Leopard, though I think you may be on the right track with this being an FxPlug filter. I know I would occasionally get messages stating, basiclly, "Your GFX card is a wimp, these filters won't work" when trying 10-bit sequences under Leopard, thus I tried the 8-bit setting with this issue and all without any luck. I'll will try "Light Rays" and "Bloom" this evening to see if I get the same result.
To make this stranger still, Bad TV seems to render just fine, as far as I can recall, only Bad Film give me problems. I suppose this particular filter may not be compatible with my configuration. Perhaps, I shoud be getting that message instead of a crash.

SBH50 issue with streaming audio (sec white noise)
After some test, with 2 device, and after having resetted the SBH50 as suggested in another thread related to stutter audio, i realize that the issue comes when "multipoint" in sbh50 is activated.
i did some exercise:
- no multipoint activated (only one device: sgs3) music streaming from sgs to sbh works perfectly.
- multipoint acivated
second device not connected: as soon as multipoint is activated sbh starts being disturbed by "white noise" for 1 second and it happens really often, more times during a single song
second device connected: same situation as point 1
i solved not using multipoint.. that is not the right solution
hope for a solution, i got still 20 days before time limit for give it back with no fee, and i wonder to understand if i should buy a BT clip that cost less considering at this point the added values is the little scrren (nice) and nfc (nice but.. after the first pairing i do not need it anymore)

Issue with streaming on Samsung plasma TV
Recently I watched a live stream from ustreamtv for a motorsports event on my desktop. (ustream.tv/ultra4) While trying to switch to the tv (samsung 8000series plasma, hard wired via cat5) and getting to the stream site it asked for a Flashplayer update. This I cannot do and when asked, Samsung says they only have version 10.0 and do not intend to update with future firmware or software updates to the TV. now what? I was able to watch the same event last year with no issues. I have also contacted ustreamtv asking if they intend to come up with an app for samsung tvs that can then be added to set...no response so far.
Unfortunately, SmartTVs use Android OS and Google (Android) has ended all support for Flash (as of June 2012). There is no more Flash Player for Android, and being as it's now incompatible, there won't be another.
The latest versions that will run on Android are Flash Player 11.1 for Android 2.x and 3.x (11.1.111.73) and Flash Player 11.1 for Android 4.0 (11.1.115.81).
Those ARE more recent than what you have (10) but they will still most likely get you a "You need the latest Flash Player to view this content" message from most sites. -
Audio issue when streaming from my MBP through 3rd gen ATV
Last night I was attempting to stream a legally owned movie from my iTunes library on my MacBook pro. The video worked just fine and looked amazing, however I didn't get any audio. I confirmed that the audio for the file worked on the MBP. I'm at a loss as to why the audio wasn't working.
Your first step is to determine if there is an issue with this specific movie or if it's a universal problem. Does ANYTHING from the MBP provide both sound and video?
Another thought is DRM coding but that should affect both video and audio. If the movie has DRM coding and your television does not, then the movie won't play. I'm not an expert but I don't think that that's your problem because you do get the video. -
Issue with magsafe/charging (blinks green, amber, off)
Having a quirky issue with my mid-2009 Macbook Pro.
A month or so ago, I began having an issue with my macbook charging. When the computer is up and running and I plug in the magsafe it will say "Calculating..." and then say "Not Charging" and then switch to battery use. It constantly does this as long as the magsafe is connected. The lights on the magsafe will constantly cycle from green to amber to no light.
At first, it would do it a few times then it would start charging. Now it constantly does this without ever stopping. I was editing video the other day for a while and it never stopped the cycle.
Thinking it was the battery, I took it into the Apple Store last week and got a new battery because it had been saying "Service battery" for a while and the battery would only last about 20 minutes on a charge. So I just thought the battery finally refused to charge.
But the problem still exists.
The magsafe is new (only 3 months old) and here's the quirky thing: the computer will charge if it's asleep (lid closed) or shut down completely. No blinking lights at all. It will charge as long as it's asleep or shut down. So I don't think it's the charger. But as soon as you hit the power button to starting booting up, it will blink.
I have reset the SMC a couple times actually, but no change.
Is there something software/firmware related that I haven't tried? Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I take it back to the Apple Store (which is about an hour away).
