Issue with Teredo Tunneling Adapter

A lot of us are not very computer savvy, so when answering questions please try to remember that.
I am getting a error 10 on my screen telling me my teredo tunneling adapter is not tunneling and  has a driver problem.  I have tried to download the driver but cannot.  I have read your answers but do not really understand what you are saying.
Do I need this adapter, what does it do?

Hi,
Teredo tunneling is a technology that used to send IPV4 encapsulated IPV6 packets across the network. Teredo is a technology that gives full
IPv6 connectivity for IPv6-capable hosts which are on the
IPv4
Internet but which have no direct native connection to an IPv6 network. If we don't use IPv6, we may ignore this adapter.

  • Problem instaling fix for Microsoft teredo tunneling adapter

In Devices and Printers, the desktop icon shows an exclamation point.  I ran troubleshooting and was informed that I need Microsoft teredo tunneling adapter.  I have no idea what that is.  The Troubleshooter tried to install it but was unsuccessful.
As far as I can tell, my computer operates OK, although I have had some issues with using Skype.
I read that the Zone Alarm firewall may interfere with the installation or operation of the teredo adapter.  I no longer have Zone Alarm.

    1. You would do better to describe your system in a bit more detailed. What you are trying to achieve. The missing teredo is only a consequece of something that we, readers , do not know.
    2. For Zone Alarm you are advice to place an question in Zone Alarm forum and/or support
    http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/company/community.htm
I would try to do all you need in test environment with firewall disabled.

  • Microsoft teredo tunneling adapter missing

I have a Compaq laptop running windows 7.  I also have an Officejet 6700 wireless printer.  About a month ago my printer quit working.  Device manager said there was a problem with MICROSOFT TEREDO TUNNELING ADAPTER DRIVER.
I took my laptop to Staples where I had purchased both laptop & printer.  They referred me to an expert who works for them.
The"expert" just removed the driver said when I reinstalled the printer it would be fixed.    WRONG   The expert no longer works for Staples.  I can only print using my USB connection.  No one seems to know what to do

  • Teredo Tunneling Adapter

I have been on the web sites ALL day trying every recommendation on here. The first one had me uninstall it and it's been downhill since then. The problem started when my wireless printer wouldn't print and the error message was the "Teredo Tunneling
Adapter" wasn't working. I even uninstalled the printer and now it won't accept the printer reinstall. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Could you please have a share with the full error message here?
For "Teredo Tunneling Adapter" not working, we may try to reinstall the Network driver, or if any update available, please update the NIC driver.
Specially, if we receive error code 10 in Device Manager, then please see:

  • Automatic uninstallation of Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter

    Hi,
I am attempting to uninstall the Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter by using a script, on a Windows 8 Enterprise x64 OS. The device is installed incorrectly by default:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful
and it is not useful at all in our organization.
I've tried so far to use devcon.exe and pnputil.exe, but it is impossible to perform the uninstallation.
However, if I perform the uninstallation manually from DevMgr (right-click on device and Uninstall), the Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter is removed successfully, without being reinstalled after reboot.
Can you please indicate how should I perform an automatic uninstallation of this device?
    Many thanks,
    Cristian

I've already tried to disable it using netsh, but it's still present in Device Manager as a ghost device (with exclamation mark). One of my goals is to have a "clean" computer, without ghost devices.
I forgot to mention that the Teredo tunnelling adapter ghost device appears only if disable IPV6 using:
    reg.exe add hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\services\TCPIP6\parameters /v disabledcomponents /t reg_dword /d 0xffffffff /f
during the MDT deployment (after the WinPE step is completed we use an internally-developed sequencer to perform driver installation and country-dependent customizations).
However if I enter this registry value AFTER the first logon (using an administrative account) the Teredo ghost device does NOT appear anymore. I tried to attach the reg.exe command in the RunOnce section, but it needs an administrative account in order to
    succeed.
Do you know what is the correct timing to set that registry value (actually to disable IPV6) during the MDT installation? The dilemma is:
    - if the key is entered too early, then the Teredo ghost device appears
    - if the key is entered too late (e.g. attached to RunOnce) then the user does not have permission to enter the reg. value.
    Thanks

  • Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter cannot start (code 10)

    Hi guys,
I have a yellow *!* mark on my Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter, and when I attempt to install it manually, it says it is already installed, but the driver cannot start (CODE 10). I'm also having an IP problems with my computer [Windows has detected

I've tried 2 device-updating programs (DriverTuner by LionSea, Driver Booster by IObit), yet neither of them ware able to help me .
If ANYONE out there have a solution for me, please submit it!

  • Microsoft Teredo tunneling adapter #2 is not working

Hi, i'm having problems with "microsoft teredo tunneling adapter #2". I've tried to fix it, but it keeps on saying that it's not working. When i set the tcpip6/parameters value to 0 it only fixed the teredo tunneling adapter but the teredo tunneling
adapter #2 is still not working. any ideas?

    Sten
This is a known problem if Zone alarm is installed.  If you have it installed remove it at least to check
To turn off Teredo tunneling interface 6to4 open an elevated command prompt and type
netsh interface terredo set state disabled.
    To Re-install it
    Click on Start.
Type Device Manager in search box and open it.
Click the Action tab at the top and click add legacy hardware
then click next and next again it will then scan and find nothing click next on the screen after that.
Wait a minute and you will see a list of hardware appear, scroll down and choose network adapters then click next, then from the left column choose Microsoft then in the right hand column scroll down and choose Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter, then click
next and this will install it.
To check just make sure it is set to show hidden devices, right click on device manager on the right and click view then show hidden devices.

  • Missing "Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter"

I have a virtual machine running Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 that is missing the "Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter" in devmgmt.msc.  I have done the regfix of adding DisabledComponents=0 under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters\
and I have unhidden the devices in devmgmt.msc.  I have rebooted several times and yet the "Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter" doesn't come back.  How do I manually add the interface?

    Hi snickered,
    Thanks for posting here.
    Please try performing
“netsh interface ipv6 set teredo client” with administrator permission in command prompt and restarting this VM to see how is going.
    Thanks.

  • Windows 7 and verizon internet suite ,removed driver Teredo tunneling adapter when installed

I installed verizon internet suite on 2 brand new emachine laptops and on both now i get a massage on both laptops saying the teredo tunneling adapter driver needs to be reinstalled ,the computer try to install it but cant ,why does viss do this ,like i said it happened on both computers right after i installed viss

While I do not know, I can take educated guess(es).
#1 That tunneling adapter allows for IPv6:
    a) and the verizon internet suite does not understand IPv6, yet.
    b) OR when IPv4 and IPv6 are enabled cause(s) some sort of security and performace issues.
#2 Or the verizon internet suite does underand what that tunnel is about.
