Issue with TOC overlaying MP4 embedded video in Firefox (Captivate 7 HTML5 output)

Only in Firefox, I am coming across an issue when I have a video embedded on a slide, the overlaying Table of Contents displays but is not clickable. This is both when the video is paused and playing. The TOC comes over the embedded video area on the slide. I have considered it is possibly a z-index issue with Firefox, but really need a workaround.
Firefox 28.0, Captivate 7 HTML5 package, MP4 video

  • How to play the pdf embedded video on firefox

I embed video into pdf quite often, if I want everyone with Acrobat reader version earlier than 9 (6,7,8) can open it, I have to chose "Create legacy multimedia content..." when I embed the video. The problem is, when I make the pdf with Mac, usually I use mp4 video, but a lot of PC's can not open it because they don't have the codec (they have to install it first); but if I embed it with wmv, Mac users can not open it. Also the latest Firefox browser doesn't have the plug-ins for the new pdf, thus can not play the embedded video. Anyone can help? Many thanks...

    Hi Philips,
Thanks for your input, but that's not the problem. I've got Flip4Mac  already installed, and I have quicktime pro, so no problem for my intel  based Mac running WMV under quicktime.
The problem is, I can not play the PDF embedded video WITHIN FIREFOX /  SAFARI browser. Just found out that they only have plug-ins for viewing  pdf files, not with embedded video.
    Thanks anyway.
Adobe has not had a PDFPlugin for Mozilla Products Since OS 9. I have put in a bug about it at least once every year.
There is a PDF Browser Plugin by Shubert of Germany, that will view PDF's. Now Safari will work with the Acrobat PDFViewer Plugin and any other Browsers using Webkit including iCab. You can set SeaMonkey FireFox, Camino,  to use the Adobe Reader or even Acrobat rather than a plugin.
It's sad and funny at the same time. Adobe until Acrobat came out was just a Font provider. And Adobe got started with other products on the Mac, because mac users were a little more bold and daring and would try out new technology. Acrobat on PC (Widows/DOS) wasn't accepted for another two years. Then when then got a foot in the door in the Windows world, they all but abandoned the Mac Platform.
They refuse to fix crash and performance issues on Mac for Flash. One reason why Jobs has took the stance he has about Flash on the iPad/iPhone.
But they are not the only ones. Intuit (Quicken) got started on Mac first. Then when they got toe hold in PC world they have been shafting Mac Users every since.

  • [Solved] embedded videos in firefox take a lot of CPU time

Playing embeded videos in Firefox take a lot of CPU time. Actually my old computer is not able to play these videos correctly if they are in HD. The problem appears with flash videos (not so surprising, flash sucks...) but also with html5 videos (there is an option in youtube to turn that on). However if I succeed to have the direct URL, these videos play perfecrtlky fine in mplayer using not more than 10-20% of CPU time. Is there a solution to that? Is there any possibility to use an external player to play HTML5 videos in firefox? If anybody knows, Why this problem, are the mozilla folk aware of this problem? (Note that I posted a thread a long time ago for this problem but concerning flash only)

There's not much you can do to make HTML5 videos as fast as Xv, see http://swfdec.freedesktop.org/wiki/FAQ. They are slow for the same basic reason as Flash... the video overlay cannot be used because the standard allows for controls and CSS to be rendered on top of the video.
As for redirecting to an external player... this is not as easy as it could be. If the videos appeared in <embed> tags or <object> tags, one could use Mozplugger, Media Player Connectivity and other programs, but I don't think one has been written to handle the <video> tag. An upcoming update to firefox will make it use gstreamer, however. If this still results in slow playback, it will at least make it easier to use an external player. I imagine you would have to patch firefox to make it use a port on the localhost as the video sink instead of the screen. Then you would run gst-launch to receive that RTP stream.

  • Audio sync issues with H.264 / MP4

    Hi,
If I render out a guide video as a .mp4 it doesn't play quite in sync with the audio in Audition (CS6 with ASIO). It looks to be a few frames out. I'll try rendering a video with a 2-pop and work out how precisely many, but has anyone else experienced this? Should I be using a different codec?
There's various ways to reproduce this, but this is the simplest:
    - Render a MP4 in PPro (Profile 4.1; 6Mbps/8Mbps Max) with audio
    - Import .mp4 into Audition
    - Place audio an video onto tracks
    - Video playback is out!
    Sam

I filed a bug report and got this fix back from the audition team:
First, in Audition go into Preferences > Media & Disk Cache and put a check next to "Enable DLMS format support"
Then, open the MP4 file you created, only make sure to change the "Enable:" dropdown at the bottom of the Open dialog from "All Supported Media" to "MPEG Movie"
And let me know if you see the problem.
By default, Audition CS6 used Quicktime to import mp4 video files where Premiere used its own Dynamic Link Media Server (DLMS) importer.  Audition CS6 can use DLMS, but due to a slightly slower startup time, we did not enable it by default.  Enabling this and forcing the import through the DLMS MPEG importer, rather than the Quicktime importer, SHOULD display the video properly.
In effect, we determined this was a problem in Quicktime before and there was little we could do.  Fortunately, with our next release we enable DLMS by default and will not require Quicktime support.

  • Lion / Safari 5.1 has issues with the pinch/zoom (embedded links don't zoom correctly)

Ever since upgrading to Lion Safari 5.1 has issues with the pinch/zoom.  Any embedded link does not zoom in proportion to the surrounding page and it makes it unusable. (the embedded link zooms much more).  Any ideas?  This makes safari almost unusable for many webpages.
Is there a fix to this?  Or can I consider uninstalling 5.1 and rolling Safari back to 5.05?  Not sure if this is a Lion issue or a Safari issue.  Everything worked great prior to Lion.
(I have to say, Lion has been more annoying than beneficial to this point!)

Here are 2 screenshots of the issue (before and after a zoom)  see how the add in the first one that shows 25% off in the first picture zoomed too large after the zoom to see the whole thing?

  • After installation: issues with TOC subchapters

    Hi all,
I noticed that after installation on a device there were two issues with subchapters in the TOC (i.e. what would be books in a classic Webhelp or HTML Help).
    1. Wrong jumps
When jumping into the submenu of the TOC and when returning using the 'back' button at the top of the submenu, there is often a wrong jump to an arbitrary topic of the project. This was consistent in a particular output, but if I simply generate and install the apk again then it is usually gone or a different submenu show this problem.
    2. System default styles applied
Instead of using the hover and active colors defined for toc nodes in the Screen Layout (e.g. brown in the iPhone layout), the default highlight colors of the mobile device (e.g. green) are applied. This is only the case when jumping into a submenu or back, not for other actions of the apk's UI. It seems that perhaps a CSS definition is missing in the mobile.css?
I tested this using the Android phone and iPhone layouts. None of these problems occur when viewing the HTML 5 output in the browser. Does anybody else encounter these problems / know a solution?
    Robert

Solved: the mystery of the erratic jumps.
The reason is an inaccurate control. If I touch the display with my finger tip at the vertical middle of a TOC entry and with the lower part of my finger tip also touching into the next TOC entry, then the app highlights the first entry but jumps to the second target.
Maby an issue of the HTML5 code, maby an issue of my device..
Addition: I tested it on two other devices and they show this issue too, although to a varying extent depending on screen resolution. The problem remains that if the user touches the fields inaccurately then the software sometimes highlight one TOC entry but jumps to the next entry's target.

  • Quicktime "?" appears on embedded videos in Firefox

Hi, and thanks for reading this.
Quite a few of you have had problems fixing the issue with the QT '?' in safari (for those who did not fix it moding your QT pref file seems to be the way to go - http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1195827&tstart=0 ,see the post by krotzebojer then the post by ventifact (you dont need to delete the whole string))
So that fixed the problem for me in Safari by almost 4 months now of internet searching and I still can solve the Firefox issue. This post http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5942086&#5942086 didn't solve the issue for me.
Can anyone help solving the issue or indeed if anyone has been trying somethings that they have read about but have not worked it would be great if you could post so I can what others have been trying.
    Many Thanks!

QT with a ? refers to Flash video.
These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
It is known to work in the great majority of cases with Safari 3.0.4, QT 7.3 or 7.4 and OS 10.4.11. (If you are running Leopard, ensure that all plug-ins have been updated for OS 10.5.2)
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.9 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 10 for Mac from http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product= RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=macjack
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.
Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2 and then the latest version obtained from here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash and installed.
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.)
In earlier versions than QT 7.1.3 in Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11 or Leopard, that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2007-009.1.1, which also deals with the Quicktime/Flash issues you may have experienced, such as the '?'. What happened was that both Quicktime as well as Adobe FlashPlayer tried to play the Flash video at the same time. This no longer happens. (N.B. Security Update 2007-009 1.1 requires both a restart and a permission repair.)
If you get problems with viewing video on a website try moving this file to your Desktop:
    Hard drive/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/QuickTime Plugin.webplugin
and then restarting Safari. If all now works, you can trash that file.
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

  • Issue with length of form text fields in Firefox in OSX

I've just spotted an issue with this in a page on a site, with two forms next to each other. (the limited space has highlighted it.)
Basically FF on the Mac is making the text fields longer than any other browser :
    http://www.goodsafariguide.com/trade/loginfail2.php
If anyone knows a fix for this, that would be great.
If not, I'll just reduce their length so that at least they're not squashed in any browser (even though they'll be a bit short in every browser other than FF Mac).
    http://www.goodsafariguide.com/trade/loginfail2.php
    Thanks.

Thanks guys - its just not something I've really noticed before, as most forms I do have enough width compared to this page where I have two side by side.
Will pop that bit of CSS in.

  • "Copy to clipboard" issue with Acrobat X and Skype extension in Firefox

This post is just to let you know that there is and issue with Acrobat X and the Skype extension in Firefox.
I don't know why but when both programs (Firefox and Acrobat) are opened and I try to copy something from a PDF I always get an error
message like "Impossible to copy into the clipboard. An internal error occurred".
If I close Firefox or I disable the Skype extension for Firefox everything runs smoothly.
It is really odd, I don't know if it is a problem of Acrobat, Firefox or of Skype....
Are anyone experiencing the same problem?
    See you.
    Alessandro.
Ps. I'm using Windows Vista SP2, Skype extension 5.2.0.7165, Acrobat 10.0.1, Firefox 3.6.16

Just found your post after getting the same problem with Google Chrome and Adobe Reader 10. It doesn't happen all the time but is annoying. If I switch Chrome off the problem is cured. Switch it straight back on and the problem reappears. It has only started after Skype was installed. Thanks for posting - I'll just switch Chrome off for now when I want to copy and paste unless a fix appears.

  • IPad Won't Sync with MKV to MP4 720p Videos

I converted some mkv files (1280x720p x264, AC3) to mp4 using QuickTime 7 and Perian by exporting to mp4 with the video set to pass thru, and the audio set to AAC 160 Kbps 48 kHz. ITunes won't let them sync with my iPad, but it doesn't tell me why. One possible issue is that the atom (something I know nothing about) has been reported as having a length larger than the whole file by another program. Is there something I can change with my conversion method or an application on the Mac that will repair the atom?
    Thank you

I converted some mkv files (1280x720p x264, AC3) to mp4 using QuickTime 7 and Perian by exporting to mp4 with the video set to pass thru, and the audio set to AAC 160 Kbps 48 kHz.
Are you actually trying to determine the cause of the problem or just end up with a playable file? If the latter, then don't pass through the video unless you are certain it meets the Main Profile @ L3.1 (or under) standard. Otherwise, re-compress both video and audio to supported standards as specified on the Apple web site or use any compatible QT or third-party preset you may prefer.
If trying to determine the actual problem here, then download and use one of the various movie info utilities that will allow you to examine the various settings used to encode the source video track to specifically include the profile and level used and see if they comply with ISO/IEC Moving Picture Experts Group standards. Many non-Apple custom encoded source files may either be encoded using profiles/levels exceeding iPad limits, employ hybridized or mixed encodings features drawn from multiple profiles/levels, or simply require a third-party decoder like those included in the Perian component package for playback and which, of course, are not available in the iPad firmware OS. Basically, when you pass the video data through without confirming its compatibility, you do so at your own risk.

  • Issue with getting an MP4 onto my iPod

So I've been trying to get an MP4 onto my iPod, but whenever I try to put it on, I get a message saying it won't play on my iPod so it doesn't get put onto it.
My iPod is an iPod Video, so I would assume that it could play MP4s considering the file opens perfectly fine in my actual iTunes.  I set the dimensions to be 853 x 352 since those are the dimensions of the other movies in my library that work perfectly fine on my iPod, but that didn't work either.
Anybody have any ideas what I might be doing wrong? I've been trying to figure this out for almost 4 hours now...

Hi if you will explain your problem in more simpler manner it will be best to track an issue.According to my understanding have to make modelLocators data bindable with dataGrid/ or you can try to replace ArrayOfBaseData with ArrayCollection.
You have to ensure that modelLocator collection should be instantiated.
    var arrColl:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection();
    Thanks.

  • Issues with depreciating FLV and F4V video formats from Adobe Media Encoder 2004

    Hi Adobe
There are a couple of issues that have come to light with the removal of FLV support from AME 2004. Please can you provide answers to the following:
How do we set up/create Flash Que Points in video, now that the FLV format has been removed for AME 2004? - This is something I use a lot for adding dynamic text to video in Flash projects.
How do we export video with Alpha, without the FLV format, which can then be used in Flash? - This typically is used to overlay presenter to camera (on green screen) on flash animations or interactions etc.
More info on these issue on the following video forums:
Re: How do I use Flash Que Markers without the ability to export to FLV or F4V in Premiere Pro CC 2014?
Re: FLV export gone.. need alpha channel in video for Flash

I know this already - what worries me is going forward, there is no alternative to using these features. Adobe has basically made the new versions of their software unusable to me and other users looking to use 'Flash Que Points' or 'Alpha in video'. What Adobe should do is provide a modern alternative, before ditching these formats. - Doesn't really make any sense!
The other big question is, for how long will they provide access to the older versions????

  • Has the issue with font licences and embedding fonts in a dynamic PDF been solved?

    Hi all,
Can I check if this issue has been fixed in LiveCycle yet please?
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3724557
Issue is that although LC lets you specify what typeface should be used for the caption/value in a form, it cannot discern the corresponding licencing requirements.
So in the case where even though a particular font isn’t used for any editable information – being set as the caption only – LC requires a font permitting embedding for editing, otherwise the font is not embedded at all and therefore is substituted for another typeface on a system where the font isn’t available.
Seems LC needs it's embedding requirements to catch up with the usage of type in a dynamic PDF, as in cases where the fonts bundled with Reader or system fonts aren't suitable, such as when a visual standard needs to be met, the user may not be overly keen on paying a significant financial penalty for editable font licences.
    Thanks
    James

    Hi James,
I don't think that it the case at all. If the font has a license for enbedding then that is what happens:
I accept that some fonts come with expensive "embedding for editing" licenses, but Adobe's implementation is in line with the font industry's expectations.
I don't think this is a "bug" that will be fixed.

When I go to Youtube I can watch videos, but after I've player 5 or 6, when I select the next one, I get a snowy screen with a message "The Adobe Flash Player is required for video playback.
