Issue with video playback in Flash Player

I am currently doing some voluntary work for my mom for the local branch of the Alzheimer Foundation. Now I have encoded a video to mpeg4/h.264 and F4V using the Adobe Media Encoder only I am having not much luck to get it successfully played. Now is my question what could I be doing wrong? I already tried to use ActionScript 2 and 3 and disabled GZIP compression on the server and even tried different files like H.264 and F4V.
The strange thing is that the video always work just fine when being tested in Flash CS4 10.2 but when I tried it in the browser it fails. The Test Movie feature of Flash is using the following player version MAC 10,0,12,36. I am using 10,0,32,14 MAC in my Safari browser and their the movie plays fine once the file is fully downloaded (how can I change this?) only when let friends try it out which have version 10,0,32,18 or the same version it doesn't work for them. Also when I am using an older version doesn't seem to work. I thought that H.264 support was added in some version of Flash Player 9. One of the issues which I was getting that the video playback worked lovely in Test Movie with the below listed alzheimer.mp4 url but when testing after the SWF and HTML were uploaded to the webserver it failed to work and I was receiving a FileStructureInvalid error. Now I would expect that the video file would fail in Test Movie too when the video file structure is invalid.
I have tried the following video files both encoded with Adobe Media Encoder:
http://www.letslearn.it/dropbox/alzheimer.mp4
http://www.letslearn.it/dropbox/alzheimer08.f4v
The current player can be found at:
http://www.letslearn.it/dropbox/alzheimer.html
I have attached my As3 version of the Flash file which is normal easy video stuff.
Anyone happen to know what could be the issue here? I am getting desperate!

Yes, I have just used the normal Video-object together with the normal trick to load Flash Video files with it. Nothing special only with a full URL for the play()-method. I have attached the source code for your convenience. The original files are edited in Premiere Pro CS4 and are based on one original ripped DVD vob file and a newly created Quicktime-based slideshow animation which has then be edited into one using Premiere.
After that I  have selected the sequence of the Premiere project which I have exported using File > Export which is using Adobe Media Encoder. For the encoding I haved used the Export Settings: "Format FLV | F4V", Codec On2 VP6 and then altered the video size and bitrate so that the file size gets smaller this is for the Alzheimer08.f4v file. The other file used the H.265 Web Medium profile with also the video size and bitrate modified after it got encoded and uploaded to my webserver.
The original files used by the Premiere Pro project are:
VTS_01_1.dv
Type: DV Stream
File Size: 2.6 GB
Image Size: 720x576
Average Data Rate: 3.4 MB/Second
Compressor: DV - PAL
Quality: Normal (3.00)
SLIDESHOW 2.mov
Type: QuickTime Movie
File Size: 3.2 GB
Image Size: 720 x 576
Average Data Rate: 3.4 MB/Second
Compressor: DV - PAL
Quality: Most (5.000)
Above information is obtained in Premiere Pro by selected Properties-option of the submenu when selecting the file.
Hopefully you can use this information but I could upload the original Premiere Pro project over the next few days. If you would be interested in it.

Hi, I had recently purchased ipad3 and but obviously have been having issues with heating up and some minor issues with video playback etc. Apple has agreed to replace my device. I need help in deciding whether i should get a new ipad3 or opt for ipad2. Seller is willing to replace it with ipad2 as well..
Have also heard that the ipad3 revamped version is around along with the mini pad rumor..too much information - lot's of confusion pls help

    Lindsay,
Your iBookG4 is still a pretty awesome Mac. Like already said, it has the power to run Leopard, but it depends if you have an internal DVD drive.
Then I suppose you have to add up the cost of the OS, perhaps another 512MB RAM, iLife 08 and replacements for any favourite apps that you currently use (Leopard breaks a lot of stuff, but Intel breaks even more). Compare it to the cost of a new MacBook, which wil have all of that included and be 3-4x faster too.
It also depends on what you want to achieve with your iBook. My PMG4 still cuts it today, I still use it in preference to my new Mac Pro, It's about the same age as your iBook, and I'll only stop using it when it becomes "painfully" slow. My 1 year old son currently uses the Mac Pro (parts for a Mac Pro are easier to replace than those for a PMG4).
I think your choice is simple, if you can a cheap copy of Tiger, use that, it'll get your iPod Touch up and running. It came in DVD and 4 CD version (by request).
Leopard will work for you too but a lot of the best eye-candy requires quite a meaty graphics card and you may need a RAM upgrade and replacement software - OS9 Classic is not supported in Leopard.

  • Issue with video playback

I'm having an issue where video playback drops to 1 frame per second or less. The problem occurs when I have the mouse on the same screen as the video (dual screen setup) or on the second screen.
As you can see in my information, I'm running an IBM Thinkpad T43 with a Viewsonic q20wb monitor.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Issues with video playback

Seem to be having quite a few difficulties with video playback in apps, it seems often once a video has played once it doesn't want to play again.
Can anybody explain why this is happening please?

I am having the same problem. I load a video on to my IPad. If I watch part of the video and then stop, it will not loud the video portion again. When I launch it, I hear the audio, but no picture. Just black screen. If I then unload the video file, reload it...it will work, but again only the first time. Just started happening. Not an issue with encoding as for the first 3 months I never had a single problem with any of these. Also, happens whether I load the video on my IPad or watch it streaming with AirVideo.
    Any answers?

  • Portege R700 - Issues with video playback with resolution over 360p

I've got this video playback issue from day one. While for instance on YouTube, videos with resolution above 360p freeze up while the sound is ok.
I've contacted Toshiba through which I got a linke to the latest bios and drivers. After the upgrade issue persists. I sometimes get a green screen while watching flash video as well. I'm guessing this is a graphic card hardware issue. Any ideas? Thanks! (Portege R700 19L, win7 pro 64)

    Hello
Have you tried watching videos in high performance mode and tested different Internet browsers?

  • Issues with video playback on iPad 2

I have an iPad 2 (I had this issue with the iPad 1st gen. as well), and I'm having some playback issues on movies and TV shows purchased through iTunes. I've removed the movies/shows and re-synced, I'm using the cable that came with my iPad.
The issue is that when I'm watching a movie/show, the video will freeze, get very pixelated, and then pick back up anywhere from 15 seconds to 2 minutes later in the video. I had this issue with 2 of the first gen iPads (as stated above) and took those back to the store, however my iPad 2 was a prize from a contest and cannot be returned.
I'm sorry if this question has already been answered, but if anyone has any tips or answers about this that could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.
         Thank you.

Ok, I created this sample file by tearing some code out of a larger project. Its a little light on comments and the code could be cleaned up a lot but it works fairly well. This example uses stageVideo with a fallback to a regular netstream video object. It is based loosely on several sample stageVideo source that I found online.
When you tap on the play button in the example it first loads in a custom player container, then it converts the entire stage to a bitmap and masks this bitmap using a mask bitmap that is created from the library. This mask creates a hole through the bitmap version of the stage contents so that the stageVideo is visible. (Because stageVideo is always drawn under everything in the displaylist.)
This example also has an iOS styled player UI that I created so that it would look similar to the native video player. It has play, pause, a video scrubber and full screen mode. There is a small sample h.264 video included in the example so you can test it out and see it work. On the iPad make sure that your videos are in a folder or in the root and that the folder or files are added to the included file list for your app. Also make sure that the render mode in your app.xml file is either GPU or Direct. Beyond that if you have problems or questions let me know.

  • Possible legal case issue with google chrome pepper flash player.

Ok so i have been on the phone to adobe for about an hour and this is the result.
As far as adobe are concerned their flash player works fine which it does.
However the google chrome Pepper flash player is obviously broken.
Now adobe say this has nothing to do with them their flash player is fine and googles version of adobe flash player has nothing to do with ADOBE either.
So why when you go into chrome plugin settings it says ADOBE flash player.
It doesn't say Google Flash player.
    It says ADOBE Flash player.
So it seem to me that either google have stolen the Adobe flash player then made their own and broke it. OR Adobe let them make their own version and is fully aware of the issue but doesn't care?
How can Adobe ignore this issue for so long is disgraceful.
Adobe should be in contact with google saying what have you done to OUR Flash player.
Please the CEO of adobe should sort this out OR at least provide evidence that google hasn't stole Adobe flash player and broke it.
This situation is completely unacceptable and i belive a legal case should be opened if Adobe has NOT given permission for google to use and implement a version of ADOBE's Flash player.

your not going to like this, but i would of said the exact same thing myself, im a flash developer, i use chrome as my main browser with pepper running for general use. and from day to day im looking at javascript websites with simple little flash video players and adverts with spinning bitmaps, with no issues apart from the usual crashes when running flash videos, followed by that "oh snap" error message, which im sure the 18 year olds developing chrome find very ammusing. And of course when im developing flash applications im using the debugger version of the flash player in all my browsers like you should do, then i come to test my app on a pepper enabled instance of chrome one day and oh look at that nothing works. maybe if your running some basic timeline animation of a spinning dollar sign or a youtube video with some kids jumping off a roof it works, but a hell of alot is broken, loaders, loading fonts, uploading files, reloading cached files, and a plethora of things iv read in forums that i cant even get to try because i cant get anything to load consistently or find a debugger version of the pepper player to do a getStackTrace. i tried emptying all the caches and data from hosted apps, i tried deleting preference folders, tried recreating flash projects in flash builder from scratch, tried different versions of windows, tried testing it in the chrome beta, but that's even worse because instead of posting an error message it just hangs on a black screen in my app. none of this happens in any other version of the flash player i have tested so far, im tracking all errors that users of my app run into by logging them to a database and all of them are specific to pepper, and reproducable. In chromes bug reporting section there's a long list of these kinds of issues, its been like this for months, peoples businesses are being ruined by this stupid tiny little .dll file and the only solution anyone has found, other than the odd hack that fixes some bugs like setting video resolution to 479 instead of 480 to make a video stream play because google didnt bother to test anything other then the most basic default functions... Is to just throw a warning message to people with pepper player to go into their chrome plugins page, press a tiny little button in the corner to show some complicated dll file information, press another tiny disable button under the not very well marked pepflashplayer.dll, and then select always allow at the bottom so you don't have to deal with chrome blocking any working flash player other than pepper from running because its out of date. which in the end probably takes longer than installing the real flash player in the first place, there is literally no need for this damn dll file to even exist and for some mind blowing reason it has the exact same version number as every other flash player i have tried, which all work flawlessly. and also then obviously most people ignore the warning messages, continue to use your app wonder why its crashing, get frustrated and leave... So my only alternative so far is to totally block anyone using pepper player from even being able to load my app and tell them to do all of the above or use Internet explorer which seems to actually have a working built in flash player. so that instantly cuts out, as ofFebruary 2013, 50.0 % of Internet users unless they boot up internet explorer then manually navigate back to my webpage. which can make a huge dent to the amount of people who actually bother to even try your app.
Now you may be saying to yourself "well he sounds a bit miffed about this pepper player that for me seems to work fine". maybe there's some kind of hack way to get swfs running in pepper that only some of you in the know, know about, google doesn't have any answers, when i rang adobe they were utterly clueless, when i rang google there wasn't even a human being to talk to from that faceless corporate monstrosity. and iv got 4 years worth of development time riding on this damn flash app which, unless adobe pull the plug on pepper, or google learn how to bundle other peoples software. is totally useless just as im trying to deploy it, and im going to have to copy and paste the whole lot into some .js files and try to reverse engineer it all into javascript which means gutting all the stuff that you can only do in flash, which is about half of it. now obviously you start asking questions like, how could it be possible that a version of flash this flea-ridden was ever allowed to be let out into the jungle when sooooo much is at risk for certain types of businesses that rely on this technology. you could literally put people out of a job by doing this, the man on the phone from adobe says well its not our problem its googles version and they are in charge of it, well if that's the case you better pull the licensing quick fast because it makes adobe look bad and the the flash brand look even worse. normal chrome users who arn't even trying to peddle their wares made in flash are even complaining that its "poisoning" their beloved chromium, and the most they have to suffer with is a buggy experience in a flash game but those of us with serious time and work invested into flash and businesses based on it are utterly fuming.
Now, either you think this is all nonsense, you see no evidence, i must be doing something wrong, and all these cases im reading are just my imagination. Or you are fully aware of this situation and you are just saying the thing devs including myself always have to say to our users when we don't have a good answer or time to worry about it "Everything works great on my system, just submit a bug report". or you are so disconnected that you simply don't know about it yet and this is just a total waste of my time and anybody worth talking to his hidden deep in the bowels of adobe barred from communicating with the outside world.
What i want to hear is that indeed you are fully aware of and informed about these issues, and within 1 month the pepper player will be removed from chrome and users will be allowed to use the official flash player from adobe which will remain stable and fully functional.

  • Hp 15-d035dx Notebook - I am having issues with videos playback.

Three weeks ago I bought a hp 15-d035dx Notebook PC and have been having a reocurring issue since day one.  Anytime I wish to view a video it takes forever to load and when it does the stream freezes a minute in and begins to buffer. This issue is also ocurring with webcam streams. I will confess that the computer is refurbished and I'm not sure if that might have something to do with the cause of the issue. I am running on Windows 8.1 (64 bit). The browser that I usually use is Chrome, but I have also tried IE to see if the issue still ocurred and it does. While reading up on this on the web I have tried numerous things, like unistalling adobe shockwave and re-installing it along with flash player but still no success. I have also run the scan on the hp site to see if I might have any missing drivers or issues, but no results are given so I assume everyhing is installed. My internet connection is fine as well and have done the appropiate tests to confirm connection status.  My knowledge of computers is fairly limited so I pray the fix or fixes are relatively simple. Thank You in advance to whoever might respond to this post.

  • Issues with video playback, messed up shuffle mode with playlist sharing

I have a Mac (10.4.7) and a PC (XP SP2)... both are running iTunes 7 downloaded on September 12. All of my media is on my PC, and I do playlist sharing with my PowerBook across mu home network. A few issues with iTunes 7 that didn't exist for me in iTunes 6.0.5:
    - Video playback is like multicolored TV snow. This happens on my PC as well as when the video is shared to my Mac.
    - When sharing the music to my Mac, and I'm listening in shuffle mode, many times the same song will play twice in a row.
    - I've only had this happen once so far (in the last 24 hours), but again I was listening to music shared to my Mac. One song played, then started to play again for the second time in a row. The song played for about 15 seconds, then jumped into another song. After that song was over, it jumped back and played the last 15 seconds of the previous song, all while having a completely different song highlighted in iTunes with the track position set to 0:00. It was very, very odd.

  • Aperture issues with video playback in slideshow

I'm trying to add a few videos into a slideshow but seem to be hitting an issue with playback. The mpeg4 files play perfectly fine in my project folder but when I drag it into my slideshow I only hear the audio of the video, no picture. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I'm running Aperture 3.4.5

Sorry, that should read .mp4. Have also tried .MOV with no success in the playback of the slideshow.

  • PE11 issues with video playback.

I have a few issues I am trying to work through and need some help.  First, I am trying to edit an old homemade DVD that used VOB files.  First, all of the VOB files play correctly in Organizer andmy problems are with the editor.   On one of the VOB files , I get audio for about 10 seconds then it stops. How can I get it back?
Most of the time, when I load the VOB files I get a "preview" and cannot get all of the frames to display or playback.   On occasion, they will open up when I load them.  What am I doing wrong.?
For some reason, the time line indicator always starts out working, but after a few minutes, it stops tracking the playback and jumps to the current location when the playback is stopped.  How do I fix that?
I have tried renaming the VOB files as mpeg  but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
    Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, and thanks to Barbara B. for moving the post here.
When you say "I am trying to edit an old homemade DVD that used VOB files. " I wonder if you are having issues with the first VOB, which can also contain Menus and navigation info, along with the MPEG-2 material, which can span several VOB's. Some software, and most DVR's write the first VOB out of the DVD-specs., and those create problems. See this article: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2298534#2298534 for more details, along with Steve's suggestions.

  • Issue with video footage in Flash Pro 8

Hi everyone! I'm in the process of making a video reel flash
animation and I'm experiencing a problem. The animation itself
loops continuously and seamlessly, but the videos inside the
animation do not. Each video is about 17 seconds long, so once the
animation reaches the 17 second mark, the videos stop playing. Only
the first frame from each video shows up while the rest of the
    animation keeps going!
ANY thoughts or suggestions on how to get the videos
themselves to loop would be very much appreciated.
By the way, I turned the videos into a movie clip symbol in
order to get the infinite scrolling effect (refer to
    http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/infinite.htm).
Maybe this can't be done successfully with actual video footage?
    Thanks!
    Nicole

Get it out of the movieclip - start over its easier...
Give the component an instance name like vid and use this
code on the frame it sits on:
    var vidList : Object = new Object();
    vidList.complete = function() {
    vid.play();
    vid.addEventListener ("complete",vidList);

  • Issues with Video Playback HELP

Hello. I work in Final Cut Pro X at my school and I am making a broadcast news video due tomorrow. To complete it, I needed to take the project home. I saved the XML file and supporting documents to a SD card and downloaded the trial version onto my Macbook Pro. I relinked the files and most of it works but there are several occasions where the screen just goes solid green but the audio still works. I really need to get this video done tonight! HELP!

Wow. Where did that come from? This media needs to be converted. It's in a non-standard format. SD is supposed to be 720x480 using an anamorphic pixel aspect ratio. It should be in DV or DV50 or some other I-frame codec. This is square pixel standard defintion using what's really an HD codec. Also the audio should never be in a compressed format, but in Linear PCM. I'd suggest converting it using MPEG Streamclip, but you're probably a long way into your project so rebuilding is not an option.
See if you can optimize the media. Select it and use transcode media. It may not do it for these files because it doesn't normally optimize standard def.
