Issue with Xcelsius reading BEx Formula Variable
I have a dashboard that is connected directly to a BEx query via a SAP Netweaver BW Connection. The BEx query has several characteristics restricted by mandatory variables (mostly User Exit type). So when I publish/launch my dashboard in the Portal, my dashboard is able to read in all values passed at the BEx prompt page, except one. I have one formula variable that is mandatory called Duration, but whenever I try to map the "Current Filter Value (Key)" or "Current Filter Value (Text)" in my connection to an Excel cell in my dashboard, it causes my dashboard to hang on the "Initializing..." screen indefinitely.
Does anybody know if there is something special I need to do in order to have my dashboard properly read in the value from a formula variable?

Any help on this would be much appreciated!
Thanks,

Issue with Data Provider name in variable screen for BEx Analyzer
Hello all,
We got an issue with Data Provider name in Variable screen in BEx Analayzer.
We want to change the DataProvider name there to Description of the report instead of its Technical name.
Any inputs are appreciated.
Thanks
KumarYou have to create a workbook to do this.
Refresh your query/report. In Bex analyser, there is one toolbar named BEx design toolbox, If you are not able to see it in analyser, right click on the toolbar space of BEx analyser and click on BEx design toolbox. Here, goto to design mode, by clicking on a sysbol like 'A'. after that place the curser where you want to see the Query description. and click on insert text (T) in BEx toolbox. click on it and check "Query description" in constant tab. in the general tab you need to assign a dataprovider, for that assign your query name in workbook settings (in Bex design toolbox). also check the "display caption" in general tab.

Viewing issue with Adobe Reader
Hi there,
I'm having an issue with Adobe reader, which appears to be not related to platform or version. To cut a long story short. I've created an A4 design in Photoshop. Part of this design includes some boxes, that have been given an outline (border) effect. Also bare in mind that the Photoshop files are being created at 350dpi.
When I put my design into Illustrator/ InDesign and then generate a PDF file. I then go and look at the pdf file and when the zoom is at 100%, the edges of the boxes are not straight, you'll get a slight offset half way along for example. However, when I zoom in to 400% the problem disapears and the lines (edges) look perfectly as they should.
Does anyone know about this issue? I'm worried that when I print from the PDF, this issue will be in the print-out - or will it be OK when I print it seeming as it dissapears at 400% zoom.
Any prompt answers or help would be appreciated.
Kind regards,
LukeCan you open Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

I am having a file moving issue with Adobe Reader XI
I am having a file moving issue with Adobe Reader XI on a Windows 7 32bit system. When Adobe reader is set as the default program for PDF files moving files from one directory to another takes over a minute, regardless of the size of the file. When the default handler is set to another program, like Nuance or PDF Creator, this is instant. What in Adobe Reader is causing this and what can I do to speed up file moving? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I am using Windows 7 home edition and using Internet Explorer 10
The PDF's are online on websites that I am trying to open. Both on the site as well as trying in a new window.
Thank you

Issues with Adobe Reader with Windows 7
I'm having big issues with Adobe Reader. It won't open/display PDF files and closes on it's own!
Not sure if it can help you but I believe you have NVIDIA driver on your machine. Which version it is?
Many tumes issue is seen with NVidia drivers on the machine. Not only Reader but other major apps also crash due to issues in this module.
Please update the NVIDIA graphics card drivers. More information is provided in the below links

I got some issues with Adobe Reader.
Hello!
I got some issues with Adobe Reader. When I read a document in the Firefox
I have to click in the Adobe window all the time to reactivate keyboard shortcuts
to tale effect in the document.
Like when I scroll up and down the document with the arrow keys, this doesn't
work after changing to an other windows or tab and coming back to the previous
window.
Was there a clue to this behavior? Like a check box or what I did not see until
now?
Thank You Very Much.
Sincerely,
SteveDoes this occur with all pdf documents or only one specific document? What version of the Mac operating system are you using? What version of Acrobat reader?

Installation Issue with Adobe Reader 11.0.03.
Hello,
I am having issue getting Adobe Reader XI to install onto a machine and needing help resolving it. The machine itself meet and exceed the requirement for the installation. There was a previous version of it installed, but was remove via Group Policy and now it is being deploy via SCCM 2012. So far out of 100+ machines all have successful installed adobe reader XI through the new deployment, except one. Incase you're wondering what the installation logs look like I have copy and paste it below:

User log in issue with Xcelsius SWF file
HI,
I am using the BI as source to BO. Xcelsius dashboard is using webi data by live office.
I have exported the xcelsius in swf file & ppt format.
i am using the credentials user name, password and authentication as SAP.
I have the roles which are created in BI and imported to BO and the roles have users in BI , which came by default to BO.
Now I have created the new users in BI with initial password. I cant login to infoview or swf until i change the initial password in BI and thn with new password i can log in to BO. I understood this concept.
But confusing part is after changing to new password in BI, i can be able to log in to swf or PPT but not fetching latest data from data base.
if i log on first into infoview , thn i can be able to log onto swf file or PPT correctly and access the latest data.
If i directly access the ppt file , i get 'failed to get the document information. lo 26315". But if i login to infoview first then to swf or ppt i wont get any problem.
The problem is, users are access the dashboard file from ppt and pdf. So , is there any work around that, the new user can directly access the data from swf or ppt, without entering the infoview???Hi sapbi83 ,
May i Know which connection you are using for fetching data into xcelsius, is it LO(Live Office) or Qaaws
if it is Live Office then what is the refresh property set for live office object? and how many live office objects or how many qaaws connection u are using.?
provide the answe of all the above question, i'll be able to help you and Infoview has nothing to do it with the real time data connectivity. the dashboard is completely dependent on the connections used to get data into the xcelsius, if the error is coming in PPT or PDF standalone then there is some issue with the connection used in xcelsius, just let me know the answer of all the above questions. -
Issue with Date Format for Presentation Variables
Hi,
I am using dashboard prompts to capture begin date and end date in presentation variables. The dates selected from calendar are in the format mm/dd/yyyy.
In Asnwers I need to get a count of days between begin and end dates. I am using the column formula as shown:
TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_DAY, DATE '@{pBeginDate}', DATE '@{pEndDate}')
When ever I run the report from dashboard I get the following error:
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 46046] Datetime value 1/1/2005 does not match the specified format. (HY000)
SQL Issued: {call NQSGetQueryColumnInfo('SELECT "Transaction Dates"."Transaction Date", TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_DAY, DATE ''1/1/2005'', DATE ''1/2/2006'' FROM "Dates"')}
SQL Issued: SELECT "Transaction Dates"."Transaction Date", TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_DAY, DATE '1/1/2005', DATE '1/2/2006') FROM "Dates"
Can anyone help me to reolve this date format issue?

BEx workbooks - Issue with FIND in BEx
Hi All,
We have an issue with workbooks.
When user tries to FIND with * in BEx in BW production he is able to see other's workbooks.
How do we restrict the Find or disable the FIND in BEx for workbooks.
Thanks & Regards,
SaiHi Sai,
It is not possible to restrict this workbook search...or disable it...
your user should however only have access to the workbooks that your have assigned to him via the roles mechanism. It is via
this roles mechanism that you can prevent a user from accessing other users workbooks.

Performance Issues with Acrobat Reader 11.0.0.2 when secure mode is enabled
Hello All,
We are experiencing sporadic issues with Acrobat 11.0.0.2 across our domain, users are reporting performance issues when opening PDF documents whether locally or from a network share.
We have found that turning off Secure Mode helps towards reducing this delay and in the cases it doesn't we are repairing the installation and/or reinstalling the application.
Due to the security implications we need to leave this turned on, I am wondering if anyone has encountered this issue and what steps were taken towards resolving it?
I also wonder whether the white list function in the new release 11.0.0.3 would be a solution to this issue?
Kind Regards,
Ryan McCartyNo probelm, so....
We had no problems with Adobe Reader 9 and 10, we encountered the issues when upgrading to 11.0.0.2.
Initially we found that turning off the Protected Mode, helped but did not resolve the issue.
We tried;
1. Turn off protected mode - issue still present
2. Clearing the recent file registry using the below registry path and deleting the keys underneath it.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\AVGeneral\cRecentFiles (this does not turn recent files off permanently). - works but needs clearing regularly
3. Turning off welcome screen by creating - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\FeatureLockDown\cWelcomeScreen - works to improve app open speed.
4. uninstall/reinstall of 11.0.0.2 - works most likley due to the recent files being cleared.
5. upgrade to 11.0.0.3 - issue still present
Following reboots the issue is still present.
When Adobe Reader is the only application open this issue is still present.
As mentioned I have no systems available which I could test this issue using 11.0.0.1 as we have fixed them, albeit temporarily using the reinstall method.
I am concious that this issue is going to reoccur once that cache (recent files) builds back up because the fix above (#2) is clearing the recent files cache NOT disabling it. -
Authentication issue with Xcelsius/Portal integration
I am facing an issue with the way we have integrated our Xcelsius dashboard with our corporate portal. I know this probably is more of a SDK question than Administration, but I figured I will ask it here anyway since Tim and some others are diverse enough in their knowledge base. This might be LONG post but please advise if anyone has any good pointers.
We have an Xcelsius dashboard that needs to be served up via our corporate intranet (based on MS Sharepoint 2007). Now we are NOT using the MS Sharepoint Portal Integration Kit, but just doing a basic integration of the SWF call within a web part on Sharepoint. All this means is that within a portlet (web-part) on Sharepoint, I am making a HTTP call to the openDocument URL to invoke the SWF file. So the SWF is actually served up from our Tomcat App Server, and displayed onto this frame within the portal. That is the basic idea.
To achieve this, what I did was write some custom code using the Java SDK to modify the openDocument a little bit. By doing so, I was able to insert some behind-the-scenes-login code wherein no matter who the portal user (Win AD-based) is, he is logged in to BOE as a generic "dashboard-user" and the dashboard is served up. This worked fine for the first dashboard where all we had was SWF and some WebI linking using openDocument (no full-InfoView access).
But in this second dashboard now, what we also have is a hyperlink for users to get to InfoView to do Ad-hoc reporting. What this does is open a child browser window from within the portal (dashboard) --- and it remembers the BOE session for the generic user id "dashboard-user" and logs the end-user in to InfoView using that. But what I actually want is that the end-users, on this new window, should only be prompted at the traditional InfoView logon screen where they can manually enter their Windows AD password and get in. Thus, I would like to keep the dashboard SWF page session separate from the InfoView ad-hoc session, which I cannot seem to do because of the browser relationship and session maintenance.
I am trying to find a way where I can simulate a single sign-on for dashboard viewers on the portal, but at the same time let them jump off to InfoView as themselves.
Any thoughts on how I can do this?
Notes:
We DO NOT have Single Sign-On enabled for InfoView
We are using Windows AD authentication (manual, no SSO)
We are on TomcatSarang Deshpande wrote:
1) If the InfoView app on Tomcat (desktoplaunch) is configured with Vintela, openDocument calls from the portal with automatically work using behind the scenes SSO, correct?
in XIR2 everything that falls under infoview should SSO when infoview is setup for SSO (not the case in XI 3.x)
Sarang Deshpande wrote:
2) What is the best practice when it comes to the service accounts needed? I have implemented Windows AD manual auth already so I have a service account that use for that. Should I be using the same on and making vintela/SSO-specific changes to it...or should I have a separate vintela service account and deal with two different ones..each for a diff purpose?
There is no best practice per se but the less service account the lower your chances to duplicate an SPN, functionally everything seems to work just as well with multiple as it does with 1 (of course with 1 there is less management work) If you click the SSO link in my forum sticky post I have a section explaining this with some suggested methods of deploying a service account(s)
Sarang Deshpande wrote:
3) Other than some minor browser configurations that might be required, is there anything else that I should communicate to the team about what might be required to be "pushed" to users' PCs?
Using the default config nothing should be required on the client machine (unless SSO has been disabled in the browser or you intend to use a url that contains a period ..... (i.e. FQDN or IP) with hostname URL (the default) it should just work.
To note if you have XP SP2 or older there is a microsoft spnego bug you may need to apply a fix if you aren't patched to SP3 (about 5% of our customers run into this).

Issues with Adobe reader x not working as regular users on a citrix server
Have 1 citrix server. Adobe reader x installed. Some users are able to open adobe reader, When I add the users who can not open adobe reader to administrators group. they still can not open adobe. While in their session if i do a run as . I run it as the domain admin, then adobe reader opens up.
This makes no sense, any help would be appreciated. You should ask in the Reader forum. Normally, the product would be installed on the local machine. If you were talking about Acrobat, then the server use is a violation of the EULA, but it is probably just a networking issue with Reader.

Need help troubleshooting issues with Adobe Reader X
Hello,
Recently our company upgraded multilpe computers to Reader X. Initially we installed version 10.1.0. Ever since our users on X have been experiencing problems. We are seeing three different issues.
1) A user will fill out the PDF and click print. At that point a popup appears with the message "Adobe Reader has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." The user has the choice to click on Debug or Close. Clicking Debug doesn't appear to do anything.
2) Clicking on a PDF in internet explorer will launch Adobe Reader and a progress bar shows on the screen indicating that the PDF is loading. The progress bar goes away and the user is left looking at a grey screen.
3) When attempting to open a PDF the user recieves this message "The instruction at "0x00720065" referenced memory at "0x00720065" . The memory could not be "written."
In every situation the only way to get past the problems is a restart of the PC.
As an attempt to resolve the issue we tried upgrading several users to Reader version 10.1.3. This was done by completely uninstalling version 10.1.0 and then installing 10.1.3. This did not have any effect on the problems.
Can anyone here offer and suggestions?
Thank youHello,
1. The OS on which you are seeing these issues.
Windows XP SP3
2. The method of deployment of the 10.1.3 update. Was it done via SMS/GPO/SCUP?
Originally 10.1.0 was installed remotely using a program PSEXEC. Once the errors began occurring 10.1.0 was uninstalled manually and 10.1.3 was installed using a copy from your ftp site.
3. Can you try and update any one of your systems to the latest version of Reader i.e. Reader 10.1.4 and see if it solves the problem.
We have upgraded one machine to 10.1.4 using the Check for Updates function within Reader 10.1.3 and are looking for any ongoing issues.
4. Which browser are you using to render the PDFs. Is the issue seen with internal links alone or with all links. Can you try and see if the following opens on one of the faulty machine: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83708/attachments/Acrobat_Reader_Re leaseNote_10.1.3.pdf<http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83708/attachments/Acrobat_Reader_ReleaseNote_10.1.3.pdf>
We are using IE 8. The issues are seen with both internal and external links as well as stand alone PDFs. No one could open the link you sent but we could open: http://helpx.adobe.com/content/dam/kb/en/837/cpsid_83708/attachments/Acrobat_Reader_Releas eNote_10.1.3.pdf on a faulty machine.
5. If suggestion# 3 doesn't work, can you also try and uninstall the installation on any one of the machines manually (i.e. via Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features depending upon your OS) and install a fresh copy of Reader 10.1.3 (from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.3/en_US/AdbeRdr1013 enUS.exe<ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.3/en_US/AdbeRdr1013_en_US.exe>) and see if it solves the problem. If it does, then it may be an issue with the Deployment methodology followed.
Already tried this. See answer to suggestion #2

Issue with Adobe Reader 11.0.0.9
I'm having a problem with Adobe Reader. The company I work for just updated their adobe Reader to version 11.0.0.9. I have a user having a problem opening up any pdf files and the actual program itself. Just get a quick cursor and nothing else. The AcroRD32.exe is running in the background and will continue to launch a AcroRD32.exe file for every attempt of opening a pdf file. Have run a repair as the user and as a administrator. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader with no luck. I've reverted back to Adobe 11.0.0.5 and had success only to have the update push back to the user's system and cause the problem of not opening pdf files. I've uninstalled and ripped out of the registry and reinstall afterwards. Still the same result. Is there a fix or patch for this particular issue?
Can you open Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

DVD Player BAAAAD! redux...
