Issues between the Internet Explorer and Adobe acrobat

Hello,
Every time I click on a link in Internet Explorer, it goes and opens Adobe Acrobat 6 and this displays this error message:
The Adobe Acrobat/Reader That is Running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser.
Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again.
How do I resolve this problem?
Thanks in advance for the support.

Hey Goyo1973,
If the option is unchecked, check it and then try opening the PDF in browser. It should work.
Cheers

  • Is there a Mac guru who makes house calls in Concord, California? I'm getting the runaround between the Genius Bar and Adobe Support.

Is there a Mac guru who makes house calls in Concord, California.? I'm getting finger pointing between the Genius Bar and Adobe Support. It;s been a week and I'm at my wit's end.

I upgraded from OS X 10.4.1 to Snow Leopard 10.6.8. After lots of application problems I took the computer to the Genius Bar. The computer upgrade was given the "thumbs up". They said the problems are with licensing issues with Adobe Creative Suite 4. The other application problems could be resolved by just uninstalling Microsoft Office and reinstalling it. The Microsoft Office reinstall seems to have gone well, however it is still slow to open and the color wheel spun extra-long on this morning's first opening.
We are operating two accounts on our one Mac Pro computer. Since the upgrade, we can not both have an Adobe application open at the same time. They work fine when only opened on one desktop, but we get an "ATM Subsystem Failure" notice when the program attempts to open on the other desktop. I've spent many hours on the phone with Adobe, they helped me remotely to reinstall CS4, but the problem remains. Finally, last night, the tech guy said that it has to be an Operating System failure and to take the computer back to Apple.
Frustration prompted my writing. I have a call in to someone local who may be able to help, who knows!

  • Is there any difference between the reader function of Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader

    I would think, not.
Also, can Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat be on the same computer without operational conflicts?
I know there seemed to be an issue with both back around version 8.

That would be a great oversimplification. But in terms of displaying PDFs, with default options, yes it will look the same. The controls won't look the same. Form filling too. But what you can do with a form (e.g. whether it can be saved) varies.

  • When using Internet Explorer and Adobe Reader xi, I cannot find how to keep the Page thumbnails from hiding. We want them open.  Please help!

In Internet Explorer, when opening a PDF using the IE addon Adobe Reader XI, the Page Thumbnail toolbar is shrunk to the left (hidden).  Our users access the thumbnails constantly and we need this to remain open by default but I cannot find anywhere that this option is set.  I would expect there to be a pin icon to click to keep it open.  In the stand alone product Adobe Reader, we found that you can click "Restore last view settings when reopening documents." in Documents prefs but this doesn't work for new documents (only previously opened docs) AND doesn't work in Internet Explorer at all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That would be something you could set at document level in document properties but would require Acrobat to make permanent.

  • Unable to open pdf files using Internet Explorer and Adobe 9.1

We are unable to open any/all pdf files in Internet Explorer 6 or 7 using Adobe Reader 9.1 on Windows XP SP2.
The error message is that IE has a problem and sorry for the inconvenience.
    Clicking "OK" closes IE.
We did not have any issue with Adobe Reader 8.1.
    What we did to date:
    1. Uninstall Adobe Reader 9.1
    2. Run Windows Clean Utility to remove any remnant of Adobe Reader 8
    3. Re-install Adobe Reader 9.1
    Any other suggestions?
    Need to have this upgrade.

I'm having a similar issue. Prior to upgrading to Acrobat 9.1 I was able to view PDFs from IE 6. No longer. Instead I get a message: "Error opening document. File cannot be found."
    Help?

  • Some of the times when I print a document from the internet using my Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro printer, the letters appear in the PDF as symbols, How do I correct the problem?

On many documents that I try and print from the internet such as receipts, conformations, etc, using my Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional printer, the PDF shows some if not all the letters as symbols.  I think it might be font issue, but do not know how to fix the problem.  Any suggestions.
On another issue, can a Tiff file of my signature be inserted in a PDF?

    Hello,
For 1st issue please follow the steps in given article:
Missing or Garbled Text Printing from IE9 to Adobe PDF Printer
    For 2nd issue:
You can create a signature appearance:
For example, you can include your scanned signature.
1  (Optional) Save the desired image on a page by itself, and convert the page to PDF.
2  Choose Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Acrobat (Mac OS) > Preferences, and select Security.
3  Click New, and type a title.
4  (Optional) Select Imported Graphic, click File, and select the desired file.
    5  Specify options as desired.

  • Internet Explorer and Adobe home page.

I'm having a problem with the flash player in Internet
Explorer. I've removed all older versions and installed version 9
    (ActiveX).
If I open Adobe's Home Page all I see in the box where the
animations supposed to be is a black box.
If I directly goto this URL: "
    http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/swf/homepage/fma_shell/FMA.swf"
    the animation displays correctly.

more information on this problem. It seems to be affecting
several computers on our 2003 network. I think it's something to do
with the image that was used. I've tried removing everything that's
flash related from the registry and using the removal tool to
uninstall the flash player with no luck. It still shows a black box
where the animation should be. It works great in firefox. Does
anyone have any idea what I can do to find out where the problem
    is?

  • How to invoke Internet Explorer and Adobe using OLE2

    Hi all
We have to call IE and adobe using OLE2.
    how to do that ?
Is it like how we do for word or excel. We tried that way but not working.
    e.g:
    app := OLE2.CREATE_OBJ('IExplore.Application');
    please help us.
    Thnx and regards
    Sriram

The commands you pass are specific to the OLE service, so its not really a Forms question but a question for the OLE provider.
Having said that - the questions I would ask is what are you trying to do? If you want to launch IE and display a PDF document you can do that with web.show_document. OLE will only work on the server and so the clients would not see IE if you were using OLE.

  • I can no longer send or respond to email from my Firefox browser. I closed and sent from Internet explorer and it works fine. What changed? The only thing different this morning, I downloaded Adobe uprade?

    Question
I can no longer send or respond to email from my Firefox browser. I closed and sent from Internet explorer and it works fine. What changed? The only thing different this morning, I downloaded Adobe uprade?

I had this hotmail issue myself a while back. I Googled, scanned MS website, scanned MSN website, visited forums, couldn't figure it out. I tried Firefox and Opera and even changed the Opera mask setting from Opera to Internet Explorer. Nothing worked. My best guess was that I was signing on (with the new MSN Live as opposed to MSN Hotmail - the OLD interface) with the "Remember me on this computer?" box checked. I now make sure it is un-checked (which is not the default) and hotmail lets me in.
Not exactly sure if that is the real remedy, but thot I'd throw the story your way just in case...

  • Firefox will no longer play videos and keeps telling me to download the latest version of Adobe Flashplayer which I have done 5 times but still get the same message when I try to play videos. I can play videos on Internet Explorer and Google Chrome .

Recently when I try to play a video on Firefox I get the same message that I need to download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. At least 5 times I have downloaded Adobe Flash Player 11 Active X and Adobe Flash Player Plugin 64 bit. Problem is that even though I have the latest version I still get the same message when I try to watch videos on Firefox. The frustrating thing is I can watch videos on Internet Explorer and Google Chrome as well as on Safari. How does that make sense?
Today, I upgraded to Firefox 10.0.2 (x86eng-us) hoping that would enable me to watch video on Firefox but it made no difference either. I would rather use Firefox as my default browser but if I can't get help so I can view video on it I will be forced to use another browser.

    Hi arpriltime,
Have you looked at our [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-or-flash-plugin-crashes Flash plugin troubleshooting section]? There is a lot of useful information in there that should help you get to the bottom of your issue.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • The printing of .pdf file from Project 2013 stops when the file name should be written. Project 2013 crashes. Does someone know what is wrong between Project 2013 and Adobe Acrobat 9?

The printing of .pdf file from Project 2013 stops when the file name should be written. Project 2013 crashes. Does someone know what is wrong between Project 2013 and Adobe Acrobat 9?

The Acrobat 9.x product family passed into "End of Support" mid-year of 2013.
Acrobat 9 support of MS Project via PDFMaker stops with Office 2007.
For Office 2013 support you must use Acrobat XI (11.0.1) or newer.

Acrobat Pro and Standard DC are what are currently available for purchase.

    Good day,
Adobe Reader is a free application we offer for viewing and printing PDF files.  Many years ago, it was known as Acrobat Reader.  You may still see some users refer to Adobe Reader as 'Acrobat Reader'.  Old habits are sometimes hard to break!
You can download Adobe Reader by visiting: http://get.adobe.com/reader/
