Issues connecting to Iomega StorCenter network harddrive with Mac OS 10.4.x

I am having difficulties connecting to an Iomega StorCenter harddrive under Mac OS X 10.4.10:
The drive is visible within the network but whenever I click the "Connect..."-button the mouse pointer changes to the spinning beach ball and I have to restart the Finder to continue working.
Those Iomega StorCenter drives use Windows shares, so Mac OS X tries to connect with Samba i presume. Under Mac OS 10.3.x all works well, I can establish a connection and moves files to and from the shares but whenever I try to connect from Mac OS X 10.4.x the computer hangs as described above.
I have checked the workgroup settings and noticed that Mac and harddrive are not in the same workgroup. However this should not be a problem as you can connect under Mac OS X 10.3.x and while connecting, you can enter the workgroup of the target drive or server in question.

I want to find a more convenient way, though – a solution that is acceptable for people who are not used to command line interfaces.

What is the cause for the connection problem anyway?
It seems that many are having issues regarding Mac OS X 10.4.x and Samba...

This problem only appeared after 10.4 was installed, so it's not really a quark problem. I have 1 10.3.9 Mac on the network and it does not have any of these problems.
This problem, I belive, was supposed to be fixed in 10.4.7 but it's made no difference, using SMB or AFP doesn't seem to resolve the issue either.
Permissions are locked down on the network here so I cannot give the Everyone group modify rights.

Linksys Connect CD/Downloadable Software compatibility problem with Mac OSX 10.4.11

I purchased a Linksys E1200 and I am running Mac OSX 10.4.11. As I have a G4 eMac, I cannot run a higher operating software. The CD that came with the E1200 will not launch the Linksys Connect software, as it is not compatible with Mac OSX 10.4.11. When I download Linksys Connect software from the support section of the Linksys site (version 1 or 2), same problem. I have read that I can use the E1200 with Mac OSX 10.4.11, but how? Getting very frustrated and would appreciate any practical advice/help. Thanks!

You may actually do the setup manually. It's done by accessing the setup page of the route through 192.168.1.1 and configuring the settings according to your Internet connection type. Two Issues: Connectivity through a PC and problems with Airport Extreme

Hello, I am fairly new to the Mac universe and not TOO knowledgeable about computers in general, so here I am asking you two questions that may appear simple or even lazy to some of you. Excuse me for that.
I just bought this Macbook yesterday, and the the wireless connection was working alright. Today, I can't get online trough browsers and other programs, even when Airport says it is perfectly connected, with no problems whatsoever. I've alredy checked, re-checked and reconfigured all there was to it and nothing happens anyway. I have noticed this problem is pretty frequent from up to Mac OS X version 10.5.2, and I see a lot of inquiries from other members but no universal resolution from either the community or Apple themselves.
If anyone can indicate me the way to a patch I haven't stumbled, or the most functioning solutions from other users I would be very thankful!
The other issue I have is that since I have this problem, I would like to know how can I connect to the internet using a PC laptop's wireless connectivity. Down where I live, I receive a free wireless connection to my PC, from which no password is required and no problems are perceived. What (software, hardware, cables) do I need, and how can I make it so I could freely browse the web with my Macbook using the PC's connectivity?

Have wasted 1/2 day trying to get this ALL-IN-ONE to scan to computer or network drive. NOTHING works. Read a previous question to download correct version of Utility for 10.10. Did so, still does not work. Very unhappy.

Connecting PC to Wireless network on a mac

I have a Modem and router hooked via Ethernet into my Emac. How can I connect a PC running XP with a wireless USB adapter up so that it too can get internet?

What make and model of router? For what you describe, you need a combo Ethernet / Wireless Access Point (WAP) router. In that case, the short answer is, use the Mac, which is connected to the router by Ethernet cable, to configure the router using whatever instructions are provided with the router, typically on an included CD. For PCs, there's usually a setup program; for Macs, you'll need to find the help ot setup instructions file, typically a PDF.
Essentially, you want to set the WiFi side of the router to name a network, serve IP numbers by DHCP, turn on WPA and select a password. You can then use the Network Setup Assistant on the PC to find that WiFi network and set it as the default connection.

Networking problem with Mac Mini and TIVO

this is what i want to do
move my recorded shows on my tivo series 3 over to my mac mini via my ethernet connect
my Tivo sees my pictures in I-photo as well as my pictures on Photobucket
but my Mac Mini will not see my Tivo
i downloaded Tivo Desktop and Tivo transfer as recommended
tivo transfer on my Mac Mini still will not see my Tivo
now they do recommenr Toast 9 for burning the videos
but i am not burning just transfering
my versio of Toast in version 8
i am asking this because do i need to buy toast 9 or is there something else preventing the Mac from seeing the tivo
remember the tivo DOES see the mac

Don't waste your time or money on the adaptors. I have a hp 2207h and I tried th dvi to hdmi and the dvi to vga, neither work, I still don't have a working monitor. Waited on the phone for tech support for 30 minutes. Then got a total line of crap.
This monitor works flawlessly with my comcast motorola hd cable box, with my sony dvd player, with my toshiba laptop, with my hp computer. But will not work with a mac mini... The only logical reason given the wide varity of equipment it will work on, is that apple does not support HDMI standards, if they did, it would work.
The apple does work on my 40 in tv. But thats not where I want it. So, this is useless to me. And after the line of crap I got from tech support, I'm thinking about quiting apple all together.
This ***, I was really excited about my first apple computer. Now after 4 hours, and nothing but frustration and no support at all from apple, I'm thinking about giving up and sticking with PC's from here on out. Worst experiance ever.

Using a Mac, Firefox does not allow me to use the vertical scroll bar real-time in Godaddy webmail. It lags and jumps. Godaddy says it is a browser issue. Does not happen in Safari with Mac OS 10.4.11 or on PC w/windows vista.

HT4889 I am having issues connecting my G5 desktop to my new Mac OS X 10.7.4.

I have tried using the migration assistant. It will not go beyond my selecting a migration method - From another Mac. Nor am I able to use the system preferences file sharing options outlined on apple support. I am not permitted to select the internet sharing as instructed in step 3 (in issues with migration section)... so cannot proceed from there. See Pondini's Setup New Mac guide. Then, consider wiping the new Mac, reinstalling via the Recovery HD, and migrating on first boot using the Setup Assistant. Alternatively, contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane and let them deal with it. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine. IIRC, this also applies to newly purchased machines

Updating iOS on your phone would not have any effect on your Mac.
What exactly is the problem?

My iPad2(Wifi-16Gb) unable to connect to home wifi network after upgraded to iOS6. The said network is a remembered network and never face this connection issue before iOS6.

Forget and reconnect the netwrok doean't solve the problem.
Even Network Reset recommended in others iPad user in the forum can't help as well.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

TS1398 Unable to connect to my home Wi-Fi with my iPad. I have tried just about everything I could find in the Apple Support Community. Perhaps this is a new known problem??

I have tried all the recommend solutions I could find in the Apple Support Community. I noticed a couple of weeks ago the iPad was acting funny about connecting to the internet via the Wi-Fi. The past two days, it wasn't able to connect to the wireless router at all. It recognizes that the wireless router network exists, it just can't join. I tried the re-boot method. I have re-set the network setting on the iPad back to factory. I even thought my old wireless router may have issues and bought a new one yesterday, and the iPad actually worked for about 24 hours and now I am back to the iPad not being able to connect to the wireless router. I have re-entered the wireless router from scratch thinking that there may have been a bug in the setup. I have removed the security settings from the wireless router to see if that may have prevented the iPad from connecting but got the same message "Unable to Join". I have cleared the cookies and data, as that was also a recommended fix, but that didn't work. I also connected the iPad to the computer so that I could check for the latest update. iPad has the latest version, so that solution didn't work. Does anyone out there got any other ideas, or are you experiencing the same problem? Is there some known issue that I am not aware of???

HT1414 I upgraded to iOS 5 and my iPad cannot be recognized by my pc, my apple laptop or any other system. It doesn't even sync while connected to my wireless network. also, the iPad can only charge if I turn it off and plug it to either the wall outlet

After I upgraded to iOS 5 my pc and laptops (including the apple one) do not recognize the laptop when I connect to the USB. The wireless function does not function either. I cannot sync the iPad 2 anymore because of this. Also, the only way it charges is if I lug it to the wall or pc USB and turn it off. I was able to charge the device while it was on. Why is this happening? How can I fix it? If there is no fix, how can I revert back to an older iOS. I tried using the support apple instructions but the iPad is not recognized by the pc and I cannot sync the iPad iTunes to revert back to an older iOS. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
