Issues deleting projects - Aperture tries to recover

I'm having issues deleting two unwanted Projects I have in my Aperture library. I'll delete the Projects, but when I restart Aperture, it tells me I have to recover both projects (or gives me the option to quit...).
Also, can't save new photos to either of these Projects, so I'm assuming they are corrupt somehow.
I just want them gone. Would appreciate any help.

I found a solution to this was to delete the Aperture preference file

  • Help- Deleted Masters and Trying to Recover via Thumbnails!!!

In an idiotic move, I just deleted the master images for an entire, very important, album. Nevertheless, I'm still seeing the thumbnails and large size previews in my Aperture photo album. They're decent quality and if I could even just be able to access and save these previews, my life would be a lot better. Is there anyway to turn the preview images into your masters?

I realize that they would normally be in the finder trash. I just got back from the assignment and, in a moment of complete negligence, I emptied the finder trash before I realized what I had done.
The previews are still there and the masters are nowhere to be found, I press the m key and it says the master cannot be found. I am seeing the thumbnails in the Aperture browser and the preview image comes up when I full screen the image but I cannot edit them or export them as the referenced, RAW file is missing.
    sorry to hear this.
like Oliver said, "even after emptying the trash you can recover files ...... they are not actually deleted until you 'overwrite' them by adding or saving new information to your computer"
you can also use Boomerang Data Recovery. their support is nonexistent but the software recovers a lot.

  • Recovering Projects/Aperture Unexpected Quit

I just updated Aperture to 2.1.3. Upon starting up Aperture, it goes into a "Recovering Projects" mode that lasts for an hour. At some point during the validation of the projects, Aperture unexpectedly quits. I've tried rebooting, but I get the same results every time. Does anyone else have this problem?

It sounds like maybe you have a corrupt image in the Library. Try Importing small sets of images into new Projects so you can isolate the corrupt image. If this is the case, you'll be able to run fine after that image is deleted.
You might try with a New Library since the Image could be somewhere in your Library already.

  • How to recover sony ARW files deleted by Aperture after importing?

I imported some Sony RAW photos (in .ARW format, shot by Sony Nex 6) from a SDXC card into Aperture library with my MacBook Pro, and as usual I let Aperture deleted the files on the SDXC card (i.e. I did not deleted the files using Finder).  Unfortunately I accidentally deleted the imported ARW files (as masters in the Aperture library) by Carbon Capy Cloner (I made a copy in the wrong direction after editing the photos).  Now I am trying to recover those ARW files.  I used several Photo recovery software but they do not recognize any deleted ARW files on the SD card (nor on my hard drive). The best result was from Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery software, which recognizes those deleted ARW files as NEF files but the size of each photo is only 32KB (it shows the photo in its preview).  I recovered them, but no software can open those 32KB NEF files.  It appears to me that Aperture somehow deleted the ARW files on the SD card in a way (very different from Finder deletion) that photo recovery software can't recognize them.  Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

Yes I understand that trying to recover from my HD is more difficult, so my attention is on the card now.  In fact, I tried to use Stellar to recover from the HD as well and I got tons of other photos and non of them is ARW.
I have kept both the HD and the card not being used anymore (I stopped using it right after I made the copy in the wrong direction, and the card is not being used after Aperture deleted the photos), so the data should be there.  I tested with Stellar on a new card.  I shot some ARW photos and format the card on my NEX 6 camera, then try to recover them with Stellar.  Same result: no ARW files, only NEF files of size 32KB or less (the photos in the preview are correct).  Strange.  I tried Remo software, no ARW either, not even NEF files.  I guess I am using the wrong recovery software (although they advertise that they recover ARW files).  Is there any recovery software that DOES recover ARW photos shot by Sony NEX 6?

  • How do I delete projects in Aperture?

Aperture has created thousands of projects with cryptic 4 number/letter names. When I try to delete one of these empty projects, it takes a long time. When I try to delete several of these projects, Aperture goes into a spinning wheel hang, and I have to Force Quit it to start from scratch. Is this a sign of a corrupt catalog or is there something I did incorrectly when I imported my iPhoto catalog into Aperture?
Thanks for any help or ideas about how to correct this problem.
    MBO

I have had the same issue as of today - 10.6.8 update and permission rebuild.  Running all latest versions of OSX and Aperture.  Just happened today after software update, Java, System, Security, Epson Printers etc...
Never evr have had a single problem before with Aperture or OSX for over 20 years of Mac use.
Went from roughly 35-40 projects 3,000 pictures to over 13,000 projects including almost everything from my Library folder on the computer... fonts, languages, quicken applications, etc.
Any ideas on how to correct this?

  • How to Recover a Deleted Project?

    Hi guys!
So I was cleaning my Desktop and acidently deleted the whole file of one of my songs.
I already tried the Data Rescue 3, but I don't think I can recover Logic Pro X with it.
Is there any other recovering tool that I can use? If so, how to rebuild the project after it is recovered ?

Undelete utilities can succed only when no disk writing has ensued after deletion, and then too there are no guarantees as any modern OS performs background tasks that may write to disk.
You have probably been doing other work since the deletion of your files, and the FAT entry has been reused, hence no trace of your deleted files exists for the undelete utility to detect.
Sorry for being the harbinger of bad news, but it looks as if your files are gone forever.
Put this behind you and move on to redeveloping your app. This time round, take offsite backups. That can be something as simple as making a copy on a removable drive.

  • How to recover deleted projects in adobe flash builder 4.5 for PHP

    Hi
Problem:I accidently deleted project in adobe flash builder 4.5 for PHP and in confirming dialogue box,i checked delete contents one(see figure).
I have wasted almost 6 hours and googled almost everything but couldn't find solution.
I have also used data recovery software like Get Data:Recover my deleted files. It found all my deleted files which was deleted by me pressing Shift+Del,but it didn't displayed files which i wanted(since they were deleted by Adobe flash builder).
Any help would be welcomed as that project was so important for me.

Thanks for your solution but in mine it saying,There are no previous versions found.
I have used almost 6 recovery software paid and free and didn't intstalled on that drive where my original files are located so that it don't get overwritten.
All of them are able to recover some files like
    .project
    public/bin-debug folder
    .settings folder
But my .php files i located in web root folder. Those file by i connect data/services. I mean PHP project files are deleted.
I had following structure of files
<Web root > php scritps to connect data\services\UserService.php                  (this file)
<Web root > php scritps to connect data\services\EmployeeService.php          (this file)

<Web root > php scritps to connect data\Imp files to connect data using PHP and MySql.txt (this file)
Files marked by "this files "  are  lost and not found by any recovery software.
I need those php and txt files specifically.

  • Trying to recover deleted imessages, also wondering why there is only 1 back up after weekly syncs.

    Hi All,
I am trying to recover deleted imessages from my iphone 5s .  I planned to restore the phone to a previous back up,  however,  I am only showing one back up in Jan 2014 and another in Dec. 2014, with nothing in between.  I can't understand this as I sync my phone at least once a week.
I have tried Dr. Fone (Wondershare) on trial basis but it only seems to pull up a few messages, not all.  I tried the trial of Tenorshare and it pulled up nothing except media files.
I have tried to look in my computer Library for back ups but nothing shows there, no 'messages' folder or other imessage back up archive.
I am on a MacBook pro 10.7.5  Lion

You see the backups in iTunes->Preferences->Devices.
The "sync" backups overwrite everytime. You can have an extra backup when you do not a "sync" but click the button "Backup now" (a new backup is made which will be overwritten when you do this again). That backup (with date) will appear next to the "sync" backup. There are two backups in total possible.

  • Help! my imovie project library is full of temporary folders.. some are the ones i deleted.. i tried deleting the folders one by one but when i try to open the imovie, the folders keep coming back to my project library..

help! my imovie project library is full of temporary folders.. some are the ones i deleted.. i tried deleting the folders one by one but when i try to open the imovie, the folders keep coming back to my project library..

If it was working on 10/1, why not open up the most recent backup library with a timestamp of that day. Unless you specified otherwise, your backup folder is in Movies in your home folder. You can double-click one to open it in FCP.
The update command actually wants a mounted drive selected.
I suggest not going into the library bundles and moving or modifying folders/files except as a last resort. It sounds like both libraries are corrupted.

  • Trying to recover deleted lightroom catalogues

Trying to recover deleted lightroom catalogues. It appears I have found them (with help of recovery software) but in recovery all of the names have been changed to random numbers. If I choose to recover, will the catalogues not open since the original names have been changed?

Catalog name is irrelevant as long as it ends with .LRCAT. Double-click on the file to open it.
And from now on, make regular and automated backups of your catalog file(s), preferably using the built-in Lightroom catalog backup function.

  • Can't Delete Projects

I am realtively new to Aperture (only used v.2). I thought I had a handle on organization, etc., unitl I tried to delete projects from which I have removed all of the photos. Although there are no photos in the project, I get a dialogue box saying that the project cannot be deleted until it is empty.
Stuck now with 6 or 7 "empty" projects I can't get rid of. I've un installed and re installed Aperture even. Same issue.
    Any thoughts?

Thanks, here is the message I get:
..great, can't seem to paste it.
    Text: "Delete Project Error
The following projects could not be deleted from the Aperture Library:
    xxx
The remaining managed masters in this project could not be moved to the trash or deleted immediately.
This may be because your Library is on a network volume or because the files have been modified in the finder.
The project cannot be deleted until these masters are removed."
But, for project that never held anything (and even one that did) this makes no sense to me. And Library is on Computer's hard drive, not network.
    Thanks for any ideas.

  • How to delete projects from Vault

    Ok, here is the issue.
I work remotely on a laptop and my main library and vault are on my home computer.
I only keep the last couple of projects on the laptop and use the vault to backup those projects. I used managed files.
When I get home from the road, I export/import the projects to the home machine and master library to do further work and use vault on an external for backup.
So, on the laptop, I will delete projects to make more space on the hdd and I dont need them on the laptop any longer (they are already in the master library and vault at home).
However, the problem is that when I delete those projects and then update the vault, it does not seem to delete those projects in the vault. So the vault just keeps growing in size until it fills up and I cant seem to delete those projects from the vault. Again, both the laptop library and the laptop vault are simply for backup while on the road so I'd like to have the vault on the portable be able to stay synced with the library on the laptop. When I delete a project, it does the same in the vault to keep the external space consistent as well.
Is there any way to do this? Shouldnt the vault basically just back up the library and when something is deleted from the library it should be deleted from the vault as well?
As it is, I need to delete the entire vault when it fills the external and create a whole new one after deleting the projects from the library.
    Is there an easier way?

I have not contacted AppleCare, but will if this is how its working for others.
Have you tried this and are sure it is working that way? After all, last week after deleting three projects from the laptop and main library and then updating the vault, I had a vault that was over 80 gigs in size while the library was now less than 20 gigs in size.
After deleting the vault and starting a new one, the new vault was approximately the same size as the library, actually slightly smaller like it is with the master vaults at home with the main library.
I have twice now had my external fill up with the vault while I had been constantly deleting old projects on the laptop. So it just seemed to keep adding new stuff to the vault, but not get rid of the old that I was deleting.

  • Trying to recover my data My Micro SD Card became corrupted after JB Update

    Can someone please help me?
    Here is the issue:
    Background:
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 phone that I transferred my micro SD Card into from my previous smart phone.  About a month ago I realized that some of the pictures were corrupted and called verizon they told me to put the sd card in the old phone and see if I could delete the corrupted pictures.  Did that,  the card went back to working as I was used to it working.  I then had a friend download some music to it.  That also worked fine until verizon sent out the Jelly bean update.  When the phone turned off and then back on after the update, the phone gave me an error message that said the SD card is damaged.  I immediately took it out of the phone and put it aside.
    Current issue:
So today I purchased a card reader, New micro SD card and came home and downloaded Recuva.  So far everything is great.  All the files, I card about came up in the directory with little green circles next to them.  (All the music and my 5 sms back-ups)  I then hit the recover icon at the bottom of the screen and the data gathered.  Then it never recovered over to my c drive or to the flash drive (memory stick) that that I put into one of the other ports.  I keep getting 1 or 2 messages.  The one I am seeing the most is " The parameter is incorrect"  the other one I am seeing is that the memory is not ready for the data.  I am now at the point where all I care about are the 5 sms back ups.  The music can be reloaded later.  files are called sms-"date backed up and a string of numbers".xml
So question is do I need to buy recuva to actually recover my data or am I doing something else wrong?  Please help.
    Thanks so much in advance.
So an update as of 8:45 pm
So here's what else I have tried so far tonight.  I went back into the CMD mode of my computer and ran chkdsk d:/f   this now produced a name of a file that is corrupted.  Also says that it removed the file.  I then ran chkdsk again with the exact same result.  The file was not removed.
Running recuva I am getting more files recovered now and more green circles.  But, when actually trying to recover the files I am still getting the message  "The parameter is incorrect"
Most of the other software i have found is either for recovering pictures or deleted files not corrupted ones.  This is the only software that appears to do what i need it to do for my issue.  I think I may be in over my head and it may be time to pay a professional to move on from here.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for taking your time to reply to me.

There are some free alternatives to recovering files from a SDcard.  photorec.exe is one.  Try a Google search to find others.

Photos that have been deleted to aperture trash cannot be viewed. Any assistance is welcome in fixing this bug. The showing all files option is selected in the filter. System is 10.8.4. Aperture version 3.4.5. Used to be able to view the files then all of a sudden they have stop appearing. Once the aperture trash is emptied the files can be viewed in the system trash. Becomes quite annoying if you want to review the aperture trash files before deletion.

Cookiemonster, previously Frank Caggiano's magic helped in this situation - have you tried the double, double Caggiano as described here?

In the most recent version I cannot get this trick to work, however. But try it anyway, maybe it is just my macthat has an issue.
Did this happen directly after the update? Where is your library located, on an external or an internal drive? Are your originals managed or referenced?
I'd try next to check, if this is caused by the library, by creating a small test library and trying to trash pictures there. If it works well in a new library try to repair the database and the permissions on your regular library.  See:
