Issues downloading firefox 4 for mac osx

I updated my firefox and downloaded your firefox 4. I have a mac osx and the icon has a circle and a strike over it, and firefox no longer opens telling me that I can't open the application "firefox" because it is not supported on this architecture. I no longer have firefox, and do not know how to get it back.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

For Mac OS X 10.4.11 or Mac OS X 10.5.8 you can look at:

I try to download Firefox for mac (OSX 10.7.5), and it looks like it is being downloaded (on Safari) but there is no file in the download folder, and no invitation to drag the icon to the applications window. Checked desktop, applications, and documents folder. It just isn't there.

Hello pentemeyer, this is Safari issue ! not firefox. see if you can find something useful in the next link: http://support.apple.com/kb/ph4982

How do I download a previous version of firefox for mac osx 10.5.8 (leopard)?

Beginning with Firefox 4, Macs must have an Intel x86 processor (which you do NOT have; yours is a PPC Mac) '''''<u>and</u>''''' OSX 10.5 or higher

'''''The good news''''' is that Firefox 3.6.24 still supports OSX 10.4 and Macs with the PPC Mac architecture. '''''The bad news''''' is that support for the Firefox 3.6.x series is likely to end in the first quarter of 2012.

You can try the third-party product '''''TenFourFox''''' that supports PPC Macs. Firefox 8 version of '''''TenFourFox''''' is available. The product is based on Firefox released versions. All support is provided by the developer, not by this site:

  • Need legacy Firefox for Mac OSX 10.3.9 Power PC G4

Can anyone send a link to a .dmg file for legacy Firefox for Mac OSX 10.3.9 Power PC G4. I'm trying to give my mom my old Mac Mini that doesn't have an intel processor, so current browsers aren't possible.

Grab it while you can do easily, Firefox 3.6 is still supported and may be used on a G3

  • I just installed the new firefox for Mac OSX 10.6.8 and when I select an image on a site (right click and copy) and paste in Photoshop 5.5, the image lightens. It does not do this in Safari.

    Question
I just installed the new firefox for Mac OSX 10.6.8 and when I select an image on a site (right click and copy) and paste in Photoshop 5.5, the image lightens. It does not do this in Safari.

Firefox, Safari, and PhotoShop each handle embedded color profiles differently. For an add-on that makes it easier to experiment with Firefox's color management options, you might be interested in: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/color-management/ Color Management :: Add-ons for Firefox]. I haven't tried it myself.

  • Install older version of Firefox for Mac OSX 10.4.11

I accidentally downloaded and wrote over the Firefox version I had with the new 7.0 version of Firefox after I read that my Mac OSX 10.4.11 is not compatible. Is there a way to download an older version, a compatible version of Firefox?

None of links I tried for Mac on the page http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html are working. But I found a version on the FTP server: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.28/mac/

  • When will you optimize Firefox for Mac OSX Lion?

Mac OSX Lion has hit the Mac App Store. It has several new features for Safari. The features are very cool, and I am hoping that Mozilla is planning on implementing similar features with Firefox. The main ones that I'm looking for is a better full screen mode and disappearing scroll bars.

No answers, but Mozilla is aware of the new release of Lion, and hopefully are working on solving some of the known issues. There are some rather formal technical discussions and reports, as mentioned in this contributors thread: [/forums/contributors/707160]

  • Downloading Firefox for Mac 10.6.7 with 32 bit build

Would like to download a version of Firefox 4 for Mac using 32 bit build

Is the part available or how do I resolve the matter?
What part? There are no separate 32 and 64 bit versions of OS X. The only hold up would be whether or not your Mac can boot 64 bit at all. And no Macbook will boot 64 bit. Only the Macbook Pro has that capability.
I'm assuming your current version of Windows Vista is 64 bit, so you're allowed only a 64 bit upgrade disk? That would mean you're upgrading a machine specific version of Vista, such as a copy that came with a Dell, Sony, or whatever other PC.
You can't use such a disk in Boot Camp anyway since such manufacturer supplied versions of Windows are tailored to that hardware. What you need is either a full version copy, or upgrade copy of the dual retail version of Windows 7. Dual retail copies come with both 32 and 64 bit versions or Win 7 in the same box.
I have two Win 7 licenses. On my Mac Pro, I installed the 64 bit version since it is capable of booting 64 bit. But on the older iMac, we had to install the 32 bit Win 7 since the iMac does not have a 64 bit EFI.

  • I want to download Firefox for Mac OS 10.4.11, but it downloads Firefox 4 even when I click on 3.6 0r 3.5. How can I download the correct Firefox for Mac OS 10.4.11??

I have Mac OS 10.4.11. My Mac Laptop Pro has a new hard drive and has been completely refurbished by Apple. However ever since, I have not been able to obtain the correct Firefox. Prior to the replacement of my hardrive, I had Firefox and used it for many years. Not being able to download the correct Firefox is frustrating. Firefox 4 will NOT work on Mac OS 10.4.11. But every time I click on a download of 3.5 or 3.6 the download turns out to be Firefox 4. I cannot use Firefox 4, do not want Firefox 4 but it keeps trying to plant itself on my computer even though it will NOT work on my computer. YIKES!!!!

There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

  • Downloading iLife for Mac OSX 10.6.8?

I have a MacBook (late 2006) running OSX 10.6.8. I would like to download iMovie either '09 or '11, but from the Mac App Store, I get a message saying I need OSX 10.7.4. I do not want to pay to update to Lion or Mountain Lion because I am getting a new MBP soon. I also want to DOWNLOAD it, not purchase and old version of iLife on a DVD. Is there any way I can do this?
    Thanks,
    Adam

Contact the Mac App Store support for assistance or wait until you get the new Mac.

  • How do I download firefox for Mac 10.4.11? I have tried to download 3.6 and it won't download.

    My iMac uses powermac chip.

I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.11 "Intel," TenFourFox doesn't help with that. Whenever I load Firefox it tells me to upgrade to 12.0 for security reasons. 12.0 is most definitely not compatible with the version of OS X on my MacBook Pro. Then when I try to register for the forums on this site to address these issue (which they recommend to do on here), I am told I can't sign up because I am running an old version of Firefox. Could that possibly be more annoying considering the reason I'm trying to register in the first place? Anyways, do you have any recommendations or does Forefox just not concern themselves with the affairs of people who can't afford to buy new computers?

  • I have used firefox for Mac OSX 10.4.11 for about a year and i quit it and opened up again later and all of my bookmarks were gone and it seemed like it was a whole new firefox is there anyway to get my stuff back

Everything that was saved on my Firefox including bookmarks for work, important add on with things saved on them, and all of my previous downloads. One minute it was working i quit Firefox then opened it up again and all of my items had been deleted. Please help!

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • I was having troubles with Firefox, so I tried to re-download it and I can't find a place to download Firefox for MAC OS X 10.4.11

There really are no no more details. The only version of Firefox that I can find that is available for downloading is not compatible with MAX OS X 10.4.11
This means I am really in trouble. I sent the version I was using to the trash because I was having so many troubles with it not connecting to various sites.
Where can I find a Firefox version that I can download?

You can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

  • Is it safe (or even a good idea) to download Wine for Mac OSX? Windows apps on Mac

I've been considering "Wine" lately, it sounds great, but I don't know if its safe to download. Would it expose my computer to malware?
Even if it does work fine it seems very difficult to install.
Has anyone had any experience with Wine?
    Thanks!

It is a good idea only if the applications you want to run work in Wine. Not everything does so you are going to have to test it first.

  • Where is the 'firefox for mac' download button?

    Hi,
I've read the mozilla article on downloading firefox for mac, and it shows a download firefox for mac button. As suggested I went to http://mozilla.org/firefox , but there is no such button there, nor was there any indication that the promised 'detecting the right firefox version for your computer' took place. Do I just go ahead with the install or do I need to look elsewhere on the mozilla site for that firefox for mac button?
Mozilla Firefox please update your 'firefox for mac' article!
Thanks in advance to anyone able to advise me.

That page will suggest to you automatically download the last version or you can download from here:
