  • Lenovo USB 3.0 Dock / Port Replicator (0A33970) and ThinkPad T430

Purchased a 0A33970 port replicator and having issues getting it working.  Cannot display to an external monitor.  Trouble shooting suggests bringing up the GUI but I don't see options for managing or troubleshooting.  The CD would not autostart, mouse does not seem to work, really not impressed so far and had to disconnect everything to get some work done today.  Who has gone through the process of standing up an A33970 and getting it to work right?  My T430 was just built in September of 2013 so it is fresh and should be compatible with the A33970.

  • USB 3.0 Dock not identifying primary monitor at startup

I've seen an issue recently where the Thinkpad USB 3.0 dock has trouble recognizing an external display that is set as the pirmary monitor. In this scenario, the laptop display is being used as an extended display and an external monitor attached to the dock using DVI is set as the primary. Upon startup the Lenovo splash screen displays on the laptop monitor (this is normal) and then afterwards the laptop monitor displays a purple screen and the external monitor goes into power saving mode. A blank purple screen is what is displayed on all extended monitors when Windows 8.1 is at the lock screen, which itself displays on which ever monitor is the primary.
At this point you are unable to do anything since the lock screen cannot be seen, and are required to hard reboot. After hard rebooting the issue typically clears up. This issue is occurring aftering doing a proper shutdown in Windows 8.1. In the case the laptop is a Yoga 2 Pro but I have also seen it occur on a Lenovo X1 Carbon, which leads me to believe this is a dock/software issue.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes - did you ever find a solution? I tried updating the Displaylink driver.

  • X201 with usb 3.0 dock

    Hey guys,
I have an x201 and am trying to use the lenovo usb 3.0 dock with it. Everything works bar the displaylink display. is there something i need to do to get an extended desktop displaying through the dock? I know i can use vga.... howeverthe office is set up to work with the x1 carbon i have in for repair, the x201 is my back up.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
    DT

not on the X201, it would be available on the next X2xx update when intel integrate usb 3.0 feature in their chipset. Right now the only laptop to have usb 3.0 is the W510, which uses a separate controller to enable that feature.

  • External LCD monitors with DVI PowerBook: Banding Issues

I have a DVI PB and would like to attach an external LCD monitor. I've looked at both Samsung 20 inch and ViewSonic 19 inch versions but whenever I attach them, I get "banding" around the edges of the external monitor. Tonight, I went to CompUSA to look at the Samsung 204B 20 inch. Taking my PB with me, I hooked up and set the resolution to 1600 x 1200 and the Samsung had huge, fat black banding all around the monitor. If you don't know - banding looks like a large, black border going around the screen. The sales guy pushed some auto-set buttons (which is said always work to remove the banding) but it didn't fix the issue. Any suggestions? Is there some secret that I'm not aware of on how to attach and use an external LCD monitor with the PB? One note: I did set the resolution down to 1280 x 1024, which worked fine to remove the banding but it monitor looked horrible. Not the best resolution for a large monitor.

Hi, Bill. I can't speak to whatever happened with the Viewsonic monitor, since you didn't tell us about that, but it sounds as though the Samsung was in display mirroring mode rather than extended-desktop mode. The F7 key on your Powerbook's keyboard toggles an external monitor between the two modes. In mirror mode, the external monitor displays exactly the same thing as the built-in display. In extended-desktop mode, it functions as a separate portion of your desktop, and you can drag things (windows, icons) from one monitor onto the other. If you're going to use both displays, extended-desktop mode is probably what you'll want: why keep two copies of the same thing in front of you?
In mirrored mode, the fact that your Powerbook's display has a maximum resolution of 1280 x 854 means that only 1280 x 854 pixels of the external monitor can be used — leaving wide black borders of untapped pixels around the copy of your PB's display that's centered on the external monitor. In extended-desktop mode, the external display's native resolution of 1600 x 1200 can all be used, provided that your 32MB of VRAM is sufficient to drive the total of (1280 x 854) + (1600 x 1200) = 3,013,120 pixels, at the bit depth you've selected. (You might have to use the extended-desktop mode in Thousands of colors, rather than Millions.)
Another issue that comes into play with display mirroring is that the 4:3 aspect ratio of the 1600 x 1200 Samsung is different from the 3:2 aspect ratio of the Powerbook's display. If you set the Samsung's resolution to 1280 x 1024 to match the pixel width of the PB display, the top and bottom of the Samsung will be black bands, because the PB isn't manufacturing any pixels to fill those bands. And it will be blurry, because the Samsung has to interpolate to make 1600 pixels look (sort of) like 1280 pixels. Unlike a CRT display, the actual number of pixels in an LCD is fixed. When you change resolution settings on an LCD from its native (maximum) resolution to anything less, the image is always blurred. Only the native resolution can be really sharp.

  • Lenovo USB keyboard - Trackpoint/Touchpas not working

I am now experiencing the same problem in Win7 as I barely got away with in Vista.
    The problem is as follows:
    - I have the Lenovo USB keyboard with built in Trackpoint and Touchpad (wonderful).
    - When I installed this keyboard in Vista it worked out of the box, but in Windows Update I got a recommended update for newer/better drivers.
    - When I installed this driver, the Trackpoint and Touchpad stoppet working - so I had to restore my system and hide these updates in Windows Update.
    - So when I install Win7 RTM these drivers seems to install with the system, and therefore the Trackpoint and Touchpad on my external keyboerd does NOT work out of the box. I do not get any updates for this either.
    Tried solutions:
    - I have tried to install the keyboerd drivers.
    - The driver with Hotkeys installs alright, but does not solve the problem.
    - The regular keyboard driver will not install, because it says that I there is a newer Synaptics-driver which has to be removed first.
    - Well, there are no installed Synaptics-drivers to be removed - probably because these drivers are installed with the system.
    - I have also tried to diable the PS/2 driver etc. but nothing works.
--> So, I am actually stuck with my wonderful external Lenovo USB keyboard without being able to use the Trackpoint or Touchpad. The worst although is that I know whats making the problem, but do not know how to solve it...
Can anybode please help, I cannot believe I am the only one having this problem (in Vista or in Win7).

    Solved!

I have a USB Travel Keyboard with UltraNav. I am not sure if it is the same as yours. But I have used the following two drivers (for Vista) and the keyboard has been working fine under Vista. Recently I upgraded to Windows 7. The vista driver seems still working fine.

One issue I found is that I cannot run the setup.exe to get the keyboard driver installed, it will claim something like OS specific program not found. But if you go inside the folder to find dpinst.exe, run it and you are good to go.
And this link for all possible drivers.

  • Dual display with Lenovo USB Port Replicator 43R8770

    Hi,
I have installed the Lenovo USB port replicator using the 1.0.0.1 drivers.  I am running Windows XP on a Thinkpad X300.
I can successfully get into dual display mode but when I try to make the external monitor my primary display it will not work.  It just switches my primary monitor back the notebook LCD without displaying any errors.
If I disable the notebook display I can set the external as the primary but as long as the notebook is enable the external cannot be set as the primary.
Has anyone ever seen this before?

  • External LCD Monitor Connection - Unacceptable Quality

    Hello,
I have recently purchased a Mac, hoping that I would be able to connect to my external LCD monitor (19" Samsung SyncMaster 920NW - only VGA connection).
I have easily hooked up my monitor to my Mac. However, what I see is of unacceptable quality. When compared to Macbook display, the display on the external monitor is darker and the text looks horrible. I have played with few settings but nothing good.
I have read other threads where people complain about similar things. But, I thought Samsung's monitors would be of higher quality. Mine is a relatively cheap LCD but not this cheap
I am just willing to confirm that I am not missing anything. I simply can't believe that the display quality could be this bad. In the worst case, I will have to buy a new LCD.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hello stedman1,
Thank you for your quick reply.
Unfortunately, it is not running in the Mirror mode. The display with the mirror mode was even worse! But after reading the posts in the forum, I have learned how to change it to the extended display. It is better than the mirror mode, but still not good enough.
Maybe I am making a mistake comparing the external monitor with the MacBook's monitor?? There is a huge gap between the two. It is a lot darker, and the text quality is way worse.
Someone with a similar monitor having solved this issues?
    Thanks,
    Guven.

  • Brand new macbook pro 15" when connected to external LCD display in high resolution ,flickers often

    Hi,
I have brand new macbook pro 15" with retina display.
I have connected external LCD display (Samsung B2230) using Apple VGA adaptor & thunderbolt port. But LCD display flickers quite oftenly. I read community blogs where many macbook pro users like me are facing similiar issue.
There is no problem with LCD display as it works fine with Lenova laptops.
Can anybody please provide me the solution to this problem.?

  • External LCD Monitor Flickers for 10 - 15 minutes before it settles down

I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 with a samsung syncmaster 931B as the second monitor. When I activate the monitor, it flickers for around 20 minutes before it settles down. I have the resolution set at 1280x1024 32-bit color 60hertz refresh rate.
I've had this monitor for more than one year, without any problems. I've recently updated the nVidia Ge Force 7300 video drivers on my Windows XP Pro SP2 system.
Actually, the problem is not the monitor. I can connect this monitor to a second laptop and it works fine, with no flicker.
I have PC-Doctor 5 installed and the video tests for the nVidia GeForce 7300 and the external monitor itself ran with no problems.

I have a similar issue: external Samsung monitor worked fine on Vista, but I could not stand Vista. I put Win Xp Pro on... and I cannot get any signal out through the VGA port now. The monitor works fine (still), tested with two other latptops.
My suspicion is that the nVidia driver files, possibly the .INF, may need tweaking / replacement / etc.
    Any assistance appreciated.

  • Blackmagic Intensity Pro problem plackback on external LCD TV

    Hi there,
Recently installed Intensity Pro card on my Mac Pro and trying to work on FCP6. I use a 1280x720 9 sec footage for testing but there's a problem to playback on a external LCD TV via HDMI cable. The playback on FCP canvas plays fine but the LCD TV just showing a still image. I've tried to test on a SD 720x480 footage which works fine both on FCP canvas and LCD TV even a general CRT 4:3 TV. Sure I have select the Video Playback under View to "Intensity HDTV 720p 60". Are there any other settings need. Will anyone knows what happen or need any settings? Please advice.
    Many Thanks.
    Kory

Kory - the BlackMagic card is temperamental.
With FCP, I've found that if I capture using the card, for a few seconds, that the output to the HDMI monitor gets 'fixed'.
Or, sometimes it will just start working on its own. Maybe after I stop and re-start FCP.
I even returned my card for replacement. Unsure why they have such issues. But once you figure, by trial an error, a technique for getting the display to work, it does basically work. It's just quirky.
With Motion output, sometimes I have to use the wrong output rate to see the output, and - then suddenly it will decide it wants the correct output rate.
    But, I'm going out at 1920 x 1080 - and haven't tried other resolutions.
Good luck. Try complaining to BlackMagic and see if you can escalate the problem up the food chain. Maybe if enough complain they will fix it (they were telling me that it wasn't supposed to display 1080p, but it certainly does - well, somehow converted to 1080i by the card or by FCP).
One other thing you might try, is an HDMI switch from monoprice. Might help with locking on the hdmi output. I use one of those for monitoring from hdmi input of camera, and I seem to remember playing with it while dealing with the no picture, or still picture issues of HDMI output to my monitor.

  • External LCD display

    Dear All,
I would like to connect my powerbook with external 19" LCD display. But I only can find the resolution as follows
    640x480
    720x480
    800x600
    896x600
    1024x768
    1152x768
    1280x852
But the 19" LCD display can support 1440x900. But I can't find this resolution in above table. But I found the following info at ATI website.
    https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folder ID=299
Does anybody have experience using ATI driver before !? Please advise.

    G'day mate
Thanks for the reply from Oz.
Just had another good look at the back of the external LCD and it has got both VGA and DVI ports on it. Which will get the best results do you think?
Also here is a dump re the graphics card in my iMac -
    GeForce FX 5200:
    Chipset Model: GeForce FX 5200
    Type: Display
    Bus: AGP
    Slot: AGP
    VRAM (Total): 64 MB
    Vendor: nVIDIA (0x10de)
    Device ID: 0x0329
    Revision ID: 0x00b1
    ROM Revision: 2103
    Displays:
    iMac:
    Display Type: LCD
    Resolution: 1440 x 900
    Depth: 32-bit Color
    Built-In: Yes
    Core Image: Supported
    Main Display: Yes
    Mirror: Off
    Online: Yes
    Quartz Extreme: Supported
    Display:
    Status: No display connected
As you can see, the card is a GeForce FX 5200. The web site refers to iMac G5's with GeForce FX 5200 Ultra cards and not the GeForce FX 5200. (My iMac is a Rev A machine).
Do you think this will cause issues? I need to run the iMac and the LCD at a show for my company and I am a bit concerned that I might end up with a Mac with no working display. Is that likely?
    Cheers
    David
